MK Mobile Elder Gems are a new premium currency you can only buy outside the game. The official webstore opened on October 29 alongside Hotfix 7.4.1, and you spend the gems back inside the game. Much of the first reaction on r/mkxmobile was disappointment: a $9.99 offer costs 1,000 gems, and the pack that covers it also costs $9.99. This guide lists every pack, works out what the bonus is really worth after leftover gems, and says who should use the store and who should ignore it.
Quick answer (checked October 30, 2026, Hotfix 7.4.1): Elder Gems are a paid-only premium currency sold on WB's Mortal Kombat Mobile webstore. Eight packs run from $4.99 for 500 gems to $999.99 for 120,000 gems, with 0% to 20% extra gems. In-game offers cost about 100 gems per $1, so a $9.99 offer costs 1,000 gems. The $4.99 and $9.99 packs save nothing on one purchase. The $19.99 pack saves about $1 at best, and only if a 100-gem offer is available. The real saving starts at the $49.99 pack. The other reason to buy is an Elder Gems-only Prize. Free players can't earn them and can skip the store. You need a WB Games account linked to your game profile, and the store isn't available in Brazil.

What are Elder Gems in MK Mobile?
WB's Elder Gems page calls them "a brand-new premium currency only available through the webstore". They do two jobs:
- Pay for eligible in-game offers. Those offers now show two buttons, one for cash and one for gems. In the game, WB describes this as "a convenient alternative to acquire offers".
- Buy Prizes. These are limited-time offers in the General Store's Prizes tab, and they're the Elder Gems exclusives. The tab arrived in the 7.4 patch notes before the store itself opened with Hotfix 7.4.1.
You can't farm them. WB says they're "exclusively available" through the webstore in eligible regions, so no tower, Krypt run or Realm Klash season pays them. The one exception we've seen is compensation: WB's store images show an "Elder Gem Compensation" inbox message for gems granted by Customer Support. Its "thank you for your purchase" line suggests that's for purchase problems, not a giveaway.
Don't confuse them with Elder Challenges or Elder Survivor. Those are difficulty names, and they have nothing to do with this currency.
Here's how Elder Gems compare with the game's other main currencies:
| Currency | How you get it | Main use |
|---|---|---|
| Elder Gems | Webstore, real money only | Eligible offers and Prizes |
| Souls | Free play or in-app purchase | Packs, tower recharges, Krypt Keys |
| Dragon Krystals | Kombat Pass, account linking, store offers | Dragon Krystal store and summons |
| Blood Rubies | Realm Klash | Realm Klash store |
| Koins | Battles and daily play | Upgrades and basic packs |
WB doesn't list a way to swap Souls or Dragon Krystals into Elder Gems, and we found no such option. One veteran's complaint sums up the mood: "Let me trade my 80k souls for something like dragon Krystal's or Elder Gems" (u/Muthatruc3r). If you're after Souls, our MK Mobile Souls guide covers the free sources.
How much do Elder Gems cost?
These are the eight packs in the webstore's catalog, pulled for the US on October 30, 2026. The webstore's iOS and Android versions list the same US prices. WB's "extra" percentages are the store's own labels. The per-100 column is our math.
| Pack price (US) | Elder Gems | WB bonus label | Cost per 100 gems |
|---|---|---|---|
| $4.99 | 500 | None | $1.00 |
| $9.99 | 1,050 | 5% | $0.95 |
| $19.99 | 2,150 | 7.5% | $0.93 |
| $49.99 | 5,500 | 10% | $0.91 |
| $99.99 | 11,250 | 12.5% | $0.89 |
| $199.99 | 22,700 | 13.5% | $0.88 |
| $499.99 | 57,500 | 15% | $0.87 |
| $999.99 | 120,000 | 20% | $0.83 |
Prices change by region. The same catalog shows the $9.99 pack as 9.99 EUR and 8.99 GBP. The store also warns that "additional taxes and fees may apply", so check the total at checkout.
What do in-game offers cost in Elder Gems?
WB publishes the exchange rate on its store page:
That's a flat 100 gems per $1, rounded: $0.99 is 100 gems, $4.99 is 500, $9.99 is 1,000, $19.99 is 2,000, $49.99 is 5,000 and $99.99 is 10,000. WB's own screenshot shows it in practice, with the Kabal Friendship Pack at $19.99 or 2,000 gems and the Kameo Starter Bundle at $4.99 or 500 gems.
So gems give you no discount on the sticker price. The only savings are the bonus gems in the pack. That's what caught players out. "Looks like the in-game offers cost the same as purchasing the equivalent amount of gems," wrote u/Pangoro94 in the launch-day thread.
Are Elder Gems worth it?
Only if you spend enough for the bonus to buy something. The $9.99 pack's 50 spare gems can't buy anything yet, because the smallest listed offer tier is 100 gems.
| You buy | You get | What that buys (if those offers are on sale) | Real result |
|---|---|---|---|
| $4.99 | 500 | One $4.99 offer | No saving |
| $9.99 | 1,050 | One $9.99 offer, 50 gems left | No saving until you buy again |
| $19.99 | 2,150 | One $19.99 offer plus a $0.99 tier, 50 left | About $1 |
| $49.99 | 5,500 | One $49.99 offer plus a $4.99 offer | About $5, no leftovers |
| $99.99 | 11,250 | One $99.99 offer plus a $9.99 offer, 250 left | About $10 and change |
The 5% tier drew the sharpest joke. "Buy it only 21 times and you basically got another pack for freeeeee," u/Ph455ki1 wrote, and the math checks out: 21 × 50 = 1,050.
Tax can eat into the difference too. One player reported the $50 App Store purchase coming to "$53+ with taxes" against "$54+" on the webstore (u/Brief_Yam2118). Another player, paying in CFA francs, compared the Premium Kombat Pass at 9,500 FCFA in the game with 9,371 FCFA in the store, about $0.22 by their math (u/Ok_Setting_5019). Both are single reports, so compare your own totals before you pay.
Here's the verdict by type of player:
- Free players: skip it. Gems can't be earned, and they don't touch your Souls income.
- Occasional spenders ($5–$20): stay in the app unless you want a specific Prize or you buy the $19.99 pack and have a 100-gem offer to use its 150 spare gems on. The most that bonus can save is about $1, and the app avoids a second account step.
- Regular spenders ($50+ at a time): use the webstore. Your cost per gem drops roughly 9–11% before tax, if you can spend the whole balance.
- Whales ($200+): the store is the better deal, with 12–17% lower cost per gem than in-game prices before tax.
- Prize hunters: you have no choice, because Prizes only take gems.

What are Prizes and what do they cost?
Prizes are the one thing cash can't buy. WB calls them "limited-time-only custom offers" and says to check the store often. The screenshots on WB's store page show three:
- Screaming Value Prize: 2,000 gems.
- Shadow of Khaos Prize: 5,000 gems.
- Killer Value Prize: 2,000 gems, with a Mileena Kard in its preview and "Purchase Limit: 1/∞" on the buy screen.
Those are WB's example screens with a 2-day timer, not a promise of what's in your store today. Prizes may differ by account and rotate fast, so treat the prices as a guide. WB doesn't publish the contents outside the game. Open the Prize and read Possible Outcomes before you buy, because that list and its percentages are the only reliable description of what you'd get.
To plan around a Prize, buy the smallest pack that covers it. A 2,000-gem Prize fits the $19.99 pack (2,150). A 5,000-gem Prize fits the $49.99 pack (5,500), and those leftovers still buy a $4.99 offer.
How do you buy Elder Gems?
- Link a WB Games account. In the game, tap your War Banner or profile image at the top left, then choose Create WB Account / Sign In (WB linking FAQ). WB's linking FAQ lists a 150 Dragon Krystals reward for doing it.
- Read any progress warning. If you see the "Hey, We Need Your Help" conflict message, pick the progress you want to keep. WB's linking FAQ says "any progress lost is not recoverable", and Customer Support can't restore it.
- Open the webstore. Go to store.mortalkombatmobile.com and choose Android or iOS.
- Sign in and buy a pack. Use the WB Games account linked to your game profile.
- Check your inbox. WB says gems arrive in your in-game inventory within a few minutes, along with an inbox message. If they don't, it says a game restart can sometimes prompt delivery.
- Spend them. On eligible offers, tap the Elder Gems button and confirm. If you have too few gems, the game offers a link to learn more.
If the site says it can't find a connected profile, go back to the game and open Settings → WB Games account to check the link. Payment and refund questions go to webstore support, which is linked from the Elder Gems page. WB also notes that buying gems "is a license", not ownership. Pick the platform you actually play on, since MK Mobile saves have historically not carried over between iOS and Android. WB doesn't say whether gems work across both.
Buy only from the official store. WB's Terms of Use ban "unauthorized transferring, trading, selling or exchanging of any Virtual Items", so third-party gem sellers aren't a safe shortcut, and anything calling itself an Elder Gems generator is a scam.
Should you buy Elder Gems during the Halloween sale?
Look at the Dragon Krystal sale before you buy gems if Krystals are your goal. WB's Season of Shadows schedule lists a Halloween Dragon Krystal Sale with a 30% bonus on select packs from 10.30 to 11.02. That's a bigger percentage than any Elder Gems pack. WB doesn't say whether those packs take Elder Gems. If one shows the gem button, the two bonuses could stack, so look before you pay.
The bigger point is that WB's store is new. A few players had hoped for more, including "a ladder where you earn things the more you buy" (u/Ok_Setting_5019). Prices and bonuses may change after launch feedback, so don't load up on a large pack today unless you already have offers to spend it on. If you're still working on the current events, the Tower of Khaos guide and MK Mobile tier list will help you decide what's worth paying for.
Short on Souls or Dragon Krystals instead? timesaver.gg delivers them on your own Android or iOS profile during a session our team runs on it, and what's earned stays yours. It's an independent service, not affiliated with or approved by WB, and WB's Terms of Use forbid account sharing, so read the product page's delivery and account notes before you order.
FAQ
What are Elder Gems in MK Mobile? A premium currency sold only on the official Mortal Kombat Mobile webstore. You spend them in the game on eligible offers and on limited-time Prizes.
Can you get Elder Gems for free? Not through gameplay. WB says they're exclusively available through the webstore. Customer Support can grant them as compensation, but no game mode pays them.
How many Elder Gems do you get for $10? The $9.99 pack gives 1,050 gems, which is 1,000 plus a 5% bonus. An in-game $9.99 offer costs 1,000 gems, so you'd have 50 left.
Is the MK Mobile webstore cheaper than the App Store? The $4.99 and $9.99 packs save nothing on a single purchase, because offers cost the same in gems as in dollars. The $19.99 pack can save about $1 if a 100-gem offer is available. The saving gets real at the $49.99 pack, where 5,500 gems cover a $49.99 and a $4.99 offer. Tax can differ between the two, so compare your totals.
Why can't I sign in to the MK Mobile webstore? You need a WB Games account connected to your game profile. In the game, check Settings → WB Games account. The webstore also isn't available in Brazil at the moment.
Do Elder Gems buy Souls? WB only says "eligible" in-game offers take gems and doesn't publish a list. Check for the Elder Gems button on the offer in your Store.
