Souls are the currency that decides how fast an MK Mobile account grows. They buy Gold fighters and packs, recharge tower attempts, skip Kombat Pass tiers and, since Update 7.1, buy extra Krypt Keys. Many "free Souls" guides still describe Faction Wars and long-gone MK11 packs. This guide is built on Warner Bros.' own support articles and the 7.x patch notes. It covers the main free Soul sources with real numbers, a daily routine, and what's worth spending Souls on in Update 7.4.
Quick answer (checked October 29, 2026, Update 7.4): The fastest free Souls come from Quests (players report 8–9 Souls per 1-hour quest), the Free Souls videos (5 a day × 5 Souls = 25 Souls, per WB), the MK11 Console Link (40 Souls a day for the first 30 days, then 5 a day, as long as you also play MK11 that day) and weekly Challenges (several towers pay Souls on every difficulty). Shao Kahn's Tower, Battle Mode, Realm Klash and event towers add smaller amounts. Spend Souls on tower attempt recharges you can actually convert into clears, on Krypt Keys (500 Souls each, max 5 per Krypt season) only when a Krypt Store item is worth it, and on pack sales. Avoid paying Souls for energy refreshes and for Challenge skips before the final days.
What are Souls in MK Mobile and what do they buy?
Souls are MK Mobile's premium currency. The green skull counter at the top of the screen is the one you earn slowly and spend fast. Koins are the soft currency, and Dragon Krystals and Blood Rubies are separate premium and Realm Klash currencies.
Here is what Souls are used for in Update 7.4, with the official source for each:
| Soul sink | What it does | Official source |
|---|---|---|
| Gold fighters and Kard packs | Store purchases | WB Beginner and Intermediate Guides |
| Character energy refresh | "spend Souls to refresh it" when a fighter runs out | WB Intermediate Guide |
| Event tower attempt recharges | 5 attempts every 12 hours, "rechargeable twice for a max of 15 attempts"; players pay Souls for them (WB doesn't publish the price) | WB Event Tower guide, players |
| Kombat Pass tier skips | "Buy Tiers" with Souls up to tier 40 (Free) or tier 60 (Premium, Premium+) | WB Kombat Pass FAQ |
| Krypt Keys | 500 Souls each, purchase limit of 5 per Krypt season | Patch notes 7.1 |
| Klash Towers attack refresh | Invasion-phase attack refreshes moved from Blood Rubies to Souls | Patch notes 7.0.1 |
| Challenge battle skips | Skip a battle you can't win for Koins or Souls | Community wiki |
The two newest sinks matter most. Krypt Keys at 500 Souls can absorb up to 2,500 Souls a week, because 7.4's patch notes cap the Krypt Store's Fusion Ups at "1 per season (so one of each per week)", which makes a Krypt season one week. Tower recharges can absorb even more during a Fatal event. A free player can't fund all of these, so the order you spend in matters more than any single trick.
How do you get free Souls in MK Mobile?
These are the free sources that still work in 2026. The numbers below come from WB where WB publishes them, and from named players or the community wiki where it doesn't.
| Source | Souls | How often | Source / status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free Souls videos | 5 per video, 25 per day | Daily | WB support (official) |
| TapJoy offers | Varies per offer | Any time | WB support (official) |
| MK11 Console Link | 40 per day for 30 days, then 5 per day | Daily, needs MK11 played that day | WB support (official) |
| Quests | About 8–9 per 1-hour quest, 12–13 per 4-hour quest | Repeatable | Players, 2025 (community) |
| Challenges | Tower bonuses on towers 3 and 5 (Normal, Hard) and 2, 4, 5 (Elder), plus Souls from some battles | Weekly | Community wiki and players (may be dated) |
| Shao Kahn's Tower | Souls on some floors | Limited attempts, refresh over time | WB Beginner Guide (amounts unpublished) |
| Battle Mode | Souls for conquering towers | One-time per tower | WB Beginner Guide |
| Realm Klash | Souls in season rewards, raised across all ranks in 7.1 | Every season | WB Advanced Guide, patch notes 7.1 |
| Event towers | Souls among battle rewards | During events | WB Advanced Guide, Tower of Time guide |
| Relic Hunt | Souls among rewards | Limited-time event, hidden once Shao Kahn is Fusion X | WB Relic Hunt Guide |
Free Souls videos and offers
This is one of the few sources WB spells out to the Soul. Tap Free Souls in the top-right corner of the home screen, or open the Store's Free Souls tab. WB's support article says it plainly: "Watch up to 5 videos per day for 5 Souls each, for a total of 25 Souls!" (WB support). That's 175 Souls a week for about five minutes a day.
The second button is TapJoy offers. WB warns that Souls "can take anywhere between 15 minutes and 48 hours" to arrive. If they don't show up, check Menu → Reward Status before contacting TapJoy. Many offers ask you to pay or install something, so read the terms first. Players on r/mkxmobile put it bluntly: "Offers cost money" (u/melomeez).
Quests: the biggest free Soul source
WB's Advanced Guide tells players to "make sure you have as many quests active as possible as they're a great source of Souls and other rewards". It also says a quest can last "as short as an hour and as long as a day" (WB Advanced Guide). The screenshot above, from WB's own Beginner Guide, shows a finished quest paying 9 Souls, with a Repeat timer just under an hour.
Short quests pay more Souls per hour, so match quest length to how often you open the game. One player's 2025 breakdown (u/AmlodipineLosartan25) gives these numbers. WB's Beginner Guide lets you run up to three quests at once, which is where "per hour" comes from:
- 1-hour quests: "Approximately 24-27 per hour. (8-9 souls per quest)". Best if you can open the app every hour.
- 4-hour quests: about 12–13 Souls per quest. Use them during work or school.
- 8-hour quests: use them overnight.
WB says fighters on quests can still play Faction Wars, the mode Realm Klash replaced, so quests don't cost you a mode.
MK11 Console Link: up to 1,200 Souls in your first month
If you own Mortal Kombat 11 on any console or PC, this is the best free Souls deal in the game. Generate a code under Settings → Console Link in MK Mobile, then enter it under Options → Link to Mobile in MK11. WB's terms are specific: "For the first 30 days you will receive 40 free Souls each day. After 30 days you will receive 5 free Souls each day indefinitely!" (WB link FAQ). Linking also grants a free Kard Pack with a guaranteed MK11 character.
There are two catches. The daily Souls only arrive on days you also logged in to MK11. And the link is permanent: each account can be linked to only one other account. Link the MK Mobile profile you actually play.
Challenges, Shao Kahn's Tower and the rest
Challenges are the steadiest weekly Souls. WB doesn't publish per-tower amounts. The community wiki lists 35 and 50 Souls for towers 3 and 5 on Normal and 46 and 65 on Hard. On Elder it lists 40, 60 and 100 Souls on towers 2, 4 and 5. Those tower bonuses alone add up to 85 + 111 + 200 = about 396 Souls if you clear all three difficulties of one Challenge. Some individual battles pay extra Souls on top, per a player's reward breakdown, so treat 396 as a floor, not the full payout. The wiki's numbers may also be dated. The Challenge reward itself is the week's Gold fighter, not a Diamond.
Shao Kahn's Tower is a permanent 100-story tower that "rewards Koins, Souls, Spirit Fragments, and Talent Points", per WB's Beginner Guide. The Souls are small. You climb it for the account-wide Talents. Battle Mode pays Souls the first time you conquer each tower. It's worth doing once and isn't worth replaying for Souls.
Realm Klash pays Souls at season end. Patch 7.1 lists "Updates to Souls, Blood Rubies, & Dragon Krystals across all ranks", so a higher finish pays more. Event towers such as the current Tower of Khaos and the Halloween Tower of Horror and Nightmare Tower drop Souls among their battle rewards, so the tower you're already playing pays a little too.
Watch the Store for free packs as well. Update 7.3's free Summer of Fire & Ice Pack, for example, included 250 Souls with two Gold fighters.
How many Souls can a free player earn per day?
The figures below assume a player who keeps three 1-hour quests running and collects them four times a day. They're estimates built from the sources above, not WB numbers.
| Routine | Souls per day (estimate) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Free Souls videos | 25 | Official, fixed |
| MK11 Console Link | 40 (first 30 days), then 5 | Official; needs MK11 played that day |
| Three 1-hour quests, collected 4 times | about 100 | Using 24–27 per round |
| Challenges (one per week, all 3 difficulties) | at least 55 averaged per day | Tower bonuses only (396); battle Souls extra |
| Total, active free player | about 180–220 or more | Before Realm Klash, events and Shao Kahn's Tower |
That's roughly 1,250–1,550 Souls a week. Players who run 1-hour quests all day report more: one r/mkxmobile thread describes "a method to grind like 3-500 souls per day" that "takes some serious dedication". It also means one week of Krypt Keys (2,500 Souls) costs about two weeks of free farming. Decide what you're saving for before you spend.
What should you spend Souls on in MK Mobile?
Spend Souls where they turn into a reward you can actually claim, not where they buy a chance at one. In order:
- Event tower recharges you can convert into clears. WB says event tower rewards "can include guaranteed Diamond Fighters and Epic Equipment", with the Main Reward paid for completing the tower (WB Event Tower guide). As u/barca1702 put it on r/mkxmobile: "If you can clear fatal towers then refreshing them is a good way to use souls." If your team stalls at a boss floor, extra attempts only buy more losses. Note that 7.4 also fixed the ad-based team recharge in event towers, so check for a free recharge before paying Souls.
- Pack sales. Players save thousands of Souls for anniversary (April) and Black Friday pack sales. Those are community patterns, not a WB schedule, so don't expect a sale on a fixed date.
- Krypt Keys, only for a target. At 500 Souls a Key, buy Keys when a Krypt Store fighter or a 7.4 Fusion Up from the new Upgrades tab is worth it. Our MK Mobile Krypt guide covers what Hearts buy and how the Heart-to-Key conversion works.
- Kombat Pass tier skips, near the end of a season. Use them only to close the last few tiers before the pass expires, for example to reach the featured Diamond on a Premium pass. Season of Assassins (Assassin Mileena) starts on November 11, per WB's 7.4 notes, so Season of Shadows (MK1 Noob Saibot) ends before then.
- Gold fighters from the Store. These are situational. Check our MK Mobile tier list before buying a single Gold.
Avoid these: energy refreshes for regular fights, since energy comes back on its own, and Challenge battle skips before the last day of the Challenge. Skips are expensive, and you may need the Souls for the one battle you truly can't win.
Is buying Souls with real money worth it?
The App Store's top in-app purchases include four Soul bundles: Vial of Souls ($2.99), Jar of Souls ($4.99), Bottle of Souls ($9.99) and Flask of Souls ($19.99). The listing doesn't show how many Souls each one contains, so compare inside the in-game Store before buying.
Growth Packs are the easiest paid Souls to value for a newer profile, because the amount is printed on the offer. Growth Pack 1 costs $9.99 and unlocks 1,140 Souls across profile levels 1–10. WB lists 9 tiers up to level 60, bought in order. If you buy one late, you get every milestone you've already passed at once (WB Growth Pack FAQ). Players also wait for multiplier events on Soul offers. "Wait for 3x offers and they'll give you plenty of souls" (u/melomeez).
Avoid anything that promises Souls outside the game or the official stores. WB's Terms of Use prohibit "unauthorized transferring, trading, selling or exchanging of any Virtual Items". "Soul generators" and modded APKs are scams or cheats that put the account at risk.
Want Souls without the daily grind? timesaver.gg's MK Mobile team works on your own Android or iOS profile by hand, with no cheats or mods, and everything earned stays yours. It's an independent service, not affiliated with or approved by WB, so read the product page's account notes before you order.
FAQ
How do I get free Souls in MK Mobile fast? Keep three 1-hour Quests running and collect them whenever you can (about 8–9 Souls each, per players), watch the 5 Free Souls videos (25 Souls a day), link MK11 if you own it (40 Souls a day for 30 days), and clear the Soul-paying Challenge towers every week. Collecting quests four times a day, that is roughly 180–220 Souls a day or more for an active free player.
How many Souls do you get from watching videos in MK Mobile? 5 Souls per video, up to 5 videos a day, for 25 Souls total, per WB support. Souls from videos and offers can take 15 minutes to 48 hours to appear.
Do MK Mobile Challenges give Souls? Yes. Challenge towers 3 and 5 pay Souls on Normal and Hard, and towers 2, 4 and 5 pay Souls on Elder. The community wiki's tower bonuses add up to about 396 Souls for clearing all three difficulties of one Challenge, and some individual battles pay extra Souls on top. The Challenge's main reward is a Gold fighter, not a Diamond.
How much does a Krypt Key cost in Souls? 500 Souls, from the Krypt Store's Currencies tab, with a purchase limit of 5 per Krypt season (patch notes 7.1). You also get 2 free Krypt entries a day.
Is there an MK Mobile Souls generator? No. There is no legitimate Souls generator, hack or modded APK. They are scams or cheats, and WB's Terms of Use allow WB to delete items or suspend accounts involved in unauthorized virtual-item trading. Free Souls only come from in-game sources and the official stores.
Can I still get Souls from linking MK11 in 2026? Yes. WB's link FAQ (updated October 2026) still lists 40 Souls a day for the first 30 days and 5 Souls a day after that, on days you also play MK11. The link is permanent and one-to-one.
