Quick answer

NBA 2K27 Season 2 goes live Friday, October 16, 2026, and brings a brand-new 40-level reward track you climb by earning XP in The City, MyCAREER, and MyTEAM. The free track hands out cosmetics, boosts and headline unlocks — a 4-Person Golf Cart at Level 18, the 'Boomer' Indiana Pacers mascot at Level 20, a Dirk Nowitzki GOAT Build at Level 33, and the Clown Costume: Ankle Taker at Level 39 — while the optional paid Pro Pass adds a parallel 40 levels of "spooky" Halloween-themed content, including a 94 OVR Pascal Siakam and a Pro Pass Pixel Cut Karl-Anthony Towns at Level 40. On the MyTEAM side the seasonal track runs from a Level 1 Diamond Jason Kidd up to a Level 40 Pixel Cut Karl-Anthony Towns. Below is every confirmed reward from 2K's own announcement, plus how to grind to 40 before the Season resets.

All rewards here are from 2K's official Season 2 announcement and Courtside Report (October 14, 2026). 2K has not published a line-by-line level-by-level table for every tier, so where a reward's exact level isn't stated by 2K, this guide says so.

When does NBA 2K27 Season 2 start?

Season 2 launches Friday, October 16, 2026, timed to the start of the real NBA season (NBA Tip-Off). 2K confirmed the date in its Season 2 announcement and in the Update 2.0 patch notes. Because 2K's Seasons roll over at 7:59 AM PT, Season 2 goes live at roughly 8:00 AM PT (11:00 AM ET / 4:00 PM BST) that morning.

One platform note that trips people up: PS5 and Xbox Series XS received the Update 2.0 build on October 8, but PC and Nintendo Switch 2 get the same update on October 16, the day Season 2 begins. If you're on PC or Switch 2, you'll patch and start Season 2 the same morning. NBA 2K27 also arrives on the Windows PC Store on October 16 alongside the Season. For the exact rollover times by platform, see our NBA 2K27 Season 2 release date guide.

How the Season 2 reward track works

The core loop is unchanged from Season 1: you earn Season XP from almost everything you do in The City, MyCAREER and MyTEAM, and that XP fills a shared 40-level track. Each level you clear pops a reward. Crucially, the three modes feed the same track — a MyTEAM grinder and a City runner both climb the same 40 levels, so you don't have to pick one mode to progress.

Two things carry over from how Seasons worked at launch:

  • The track climbs to Level 40, and across a Season you can earn up to 40 Premium Rewards and up to 45,000 VC as you progress. (That 45,000 VC figure is 2K's stated seasonal ceiling across the full pass, not a single payout — treat it as the maximum across all 40 levels, and verify it against your in-game pass screen.)
  • The pass track resets at the end of the Season. 2K's own pass footnote states plainly: "Progress and rewards reset at the end of each season." That means your Season 2 level drops back to zero when Season 3 begins — so claim everything before the rollover.

A reconciliation worth knowing: the "resets" line is about the pass track, not your account. Community reporting (2K Dispatch, relayed by content creators) says the bonus Badge Tokens and Badge Slots you earn from Season rewards do not reset each Season and remain available on your builds — while the small set of seasonal Synergy slots is the genuine reset exception. 2K has published no formal line-by-line reconciliation, so treat that as community-reported and confirm at your first rollover.

NBA 2K27 Season 2 free reward track — confirmed unlocks

These are the free rewards 2K named for Season 2's main track — available to every player just by leveling up, no purchase required. 2K highlighted these four specific tiers; the levels in between hold additional cosmetics, boosts and VC that 2K did not itemize individually.

LevelFree reward
184-Person Golf Cart
20'Boomer' — Indiana Pacers Mascot
33Dirk Nowitzki GOAT Build
39Clown Costume: Ankle Taker
40Final free-track reward (see MyTEAM track below for the Level 40 card)

The standout is the Dirk Nowitzki GOAT Build at Level 33 — a free legend template that breaks the normal MyPLAYER caps, no Pro Pass needed. GOAT Builds are the marquee Season 2 feature, and getting one of them on the free track is a genuine reason to grind. (For what GOAT Builds are and the full roster, see our NBA 2K27 GOAT Builds guide.)

The 'Boomer' Pacers mascot at Level 20 fits the Season's Indiana theme — Season 2 is headlined by Deluxe Edition cover athlete Caitlin Clark and Pacers superstar Tyrese Haliburton, both Indiana icons.

NBA 2K27 Season 2 Pro Pass & Hall of Fame Pass rewards

The Pro Pass is the paid premium track. Buying it unlocks 40 additional levels of "spooky," Halloween-themed content that runs parallel to the free track. 2K's announcement lists these as the automatic and premium unlocks:

Automatic Pro Pass rewards:

  • Jack-O'-Lantern Scarecrow Costume
  • Headhunter Mask
  • 94 OVR Pascal Siakam (MyTEAM card)
  • A Pro Pass Pack

Premium Pro Pass highlights (by level):

LevelPro Pass reward
3Jack-O'-Lantern Facepaint
12'Sir C.C.' — Cleveland Cavaliers Mascot
18Fire Face Body Mod
30'G-Wiz' — Washington Wizards Mascot
40Pro Pass Pixel Cut Karl-Anthony Towns

The Hall of Fame Pass is the higher tier above the Pro Pass. 2K confirms both passes exist and are sold separately, and that premium passes "unlock additional rewards for the Season that are earnable through gameplay." 2K has not published Season 2 prices for either pass. The figures you'll see circulating online — around $9.99 for the Pro Pass and $19.99 for the Hall of Fame Pass — are carried over from NBA 2K26 and are not confirmed for 2K27. Check the in-game store for the live price before buying.

NBA 2K27 Season 2 MyTEAM rewards

MyTEAM runs its own seasonal reward ladder tied to the same Level 40 track, plus a new Exchange. The two named bookends:

  • Level 1: Diamond Jason Kidd
  • Level 40: Pixel Cut Karl-Anthony Towns

The headline MyTEAM feature is the Premier Exchange: you swap cards from your collection to unlock exclusive roster upgrades. 2K's example is Pixel Cut Kareem Abdul-Jabbar — described in the announcement as "an 11-time NBA All-Defensive Team selection and four-time NBA Blocks Leader." The Exchange is the most reliable way to turn a pile of unused cards into a top-end piece without gambling on packs. For how the Exchange mechanic works, see our NBA 2K27 The Exchange guide.

Card ratings and the exact contents of MyTEAM packs beyond what 2K named here are community-database sourced and change constantly — this guide only lists the cards 2K itself confirmed for the Season 2 track. 2K does not publish pack pull rates, and neither do we.

What else is new in Season 2 (beyond rewards)

Season 2 is more than a reward track — several systems changed at the same time:

  • GOAT Builds debut. New MyPLAYER templates of NBA legends and stars that exceed the standard Builder caps, with locked animations and stats but full access to Badges, Cap Breakers and more. Release roster includes Klay Thompson, Carmelo Anthony, Anthony Davis, Dwight Howard, and more, with others earned through REP and Lifetime Challenges.
  • Sunset Beach returns. The City gets a remastered Sunset Beach, originally from NBA 2K17 — coastal backdrop, volcano view and the giant fish tank included.

  • Crew Divisions boosts. Season 2 opens with Double Crew XP on the rewards track and a 25% REP boost for all Crew Divisions games. Crew HQ now runs REC-level difficulty, while the Squad Showdown Kiosk keeps competitive sliders for private matches.
  • MyCAREER Eras expansion. Patch 2.0 lets you play a continuous 25-year career across multiple eras.
  • 2K Beats soundtrack drop. Five new mixes including a Tyrese Haliburton curation (Gunna, Meek Mill and others), a Space Jam 30th-anniversary tribute, ten Rucker Park-inspired tracks, plus BLACKPINK, BossMan Dlow and Linkin Park.

How to hit Level 40 fast in Season 2

The reward track is XP-gated, and XP comes from almost every mode. The fastest climbers do a few things:

  • Ride the Season-opening boosts. Crew Divisions launches with Double Crew XP and a 25% REP boost — the highest XP-per-minute window of the Season is right now, at the start. Play Crew games early while the multipliers are live.
  • Play the mode you're best at. Because The City, MyCAREER and MyTEAM all feed the same track, you don't lose progress by specializing. Win rate matters more than mode — losses still give XP, but wins and higher teammate grades give more.
  • Finish MyCAREER games and events. Completed games, event challenges and daily objectives are the densest XP per session. Don't quit mid-game — you forfeit the completion XP.
  • Clear Lifetime Challenges. They pay REP and feed GOAT Build unlocks on top of Season XP, so they double-dip toward two tracks at once.

Because the track resets when Season 3 arrives, the practical deadline is "before the next rollover." Seasons in prior 2K titles ran roughly six weeks, which would put Season 3 in late November 2026 — but 2K has not confirmed a Season 2 length or a Season 3 date, so treat that as an estimate and watch the in-game pass screen for the official end time.

FAQ

When does NBA 2K27 Season 2 start? Season 2 launches Friday, October 16, 2026, at roughly 8:00 AM PT (11:00 AM ET / 4:00 PM BST), timed to the NBA's real-season tip-off. PC and Nintendo Switch 2 players receive the required Update 2.0 patch the same morning; PS5 and Xbox got it on October 8.

What is the Level 40 reward in NBA 2K27 Season 2? On the MyTEAM track, Level 40 gives a Pixel Cut Karl-Anthony Towns. The paid Pro Pass also ends at Level 40 with its own Pro Pass Pixel Cut Karl-Anthony Towns. 2K has not itemized every single free-track level, so confirm the exact final free reward on your in-game pass screen.

Is the Dirk Nowitzki GOAT Build free? Yes. 2K lists the Dirk Nowitzki GOAT Build as a free reward at Level 33 on the Season 2 track — you do not need the Pro Pass to earn it, just enough Season XP to reach Level 33.

How much does the NBA 2K27 Season 2 Pro Pass cost? 2K has not published Season 2 pass prices. The roughly $9.99 (Pro Pass) and $19.99 (Hall of Fame Pass) numbers you may see are carried over from NBA 2K26 and are unconfirmed for 2K27 — check the live in-game store before buying.

Do my Season 2 rewards reset? The pass track resets at the end of the Season — your level returns to zero when Season 3 begins, so claim everything first. Can I earn rewards in any mode? Yes. Season XP from The City, MyCAREER and MyTEAM all feed the same 40-level track, so you can climb it however you prefer to play.
