Quick answer (TL;DR)
NBA 2K27 Season 3 starts on Friday, November 27, 2026, and runs until January 15, 2027. That date range comes from 2K itself: the official Seasons page on nba.2k.com closes its Season 2 calendar with "...Stay tuned for Season 3! November 27 – January 15." 2K's own Season 2 pass terms confirm the other side: the Season 2 Pro Pass and Hall of Fame Pass "are available until 7:59AM PT, November 27th, 2026 after which they expire."
So Season 2's passes expire at 7:59 AM PT on November 27, and Season 3 should start right after, most likely at 8:00 AM PT / 11:00 AM ET / 4:00 PM GMT. That's the same time slot NBA 2K26 used for its Season 3 launch on November 28, 2025. 2K hasn't printed the exact Season 3 start time yet, so treat 8 AM PT as the expected time, not a confirmed one.
As of October 29, 2026, there are 29 days left in Season 2. Three GOAT Builds (Magic Johnson at Level 26, Dirk Nowitzki at Level 33, Young Kobe at Level 37), the Level 40 Cap Breaker and four seasonal Synergy slots are all on the Season 2 track. Synergy earned from Season rewards expires at the end of the Season, so a few things on this list really do have a deadline.
When does NBA 2K27 Season 3 start?
Friday, November 27, 2026. This isn't a guess based on cadence. 2K has published it. The official NBA 2K27 Seasons page lists every Season 2 event in order and ends with one final entry:
"...STAY TUNED FOR SEASON 3! NOVEMBER 27 - JANUARY 15" — NBA 2K27 Seasons page, nba.2k.com
That gives Season 3 a length of 49 days, or seven weeks, one week longer than Season 2. The extra week carries it through Christmas and New Year's, and like the Season 2 changeover, both Season 3 dates fall on a Friday.
Here's how this year's seasons line up:
| Season | Start | End | Length |
|---|---|---|---|
| Season 1 | Wed, Aug 26, 2026 (early access) | Fri, Oct 16, 2026 | ~7 weeks (51 days) |
| Season 2 | Fri, Oct 16, 2026 | Fri, Nov 27, 2026 | 6 weeks (42 days) |
| Season 3 | Fri, Nov 27, 2026 | Fri, Jan 15, 2027 | 7 weeks (49 days) |
Season 1 began with early access on August 26, per the 2K Newsroom; the game's worldwide launch followed on September 4. Season 2's start comes from 2K's official Season Events Guide ("For Season 2, starting October 16..."). Season 3's dates come from the Seasons page quoted above.
What time does Season 3 come out?
Expect 8:00 AM PT on November 27. Here's what's confirmed and what's an estimate:
- Confirmed: Season 2's paid passes expire at 7:59 AM PT on November 27, 2026 (the footnote on 2K's official Season 2 Pro Pass graphic).
- Confirmed precedent: Season 2 started at 8 AM PT. 2K's Season 2 Courtside Report times the Amex Theater Takeover to "Friday, October 16 at 8 AM PDT," the first morning of the season.
- Last year: NBA 2K26 Season 3 went live on Friday, November 28, 2025 at 8 AM PT / 11 AM ET, a Friday after U.S. Thanksgiving just like this year.
Daylight saving time ends in the U.S. on November 1, so the Season 3 rollover runs on standard time. Converted from 8:00 AM PST:
| Region | Season 3 expected start |
|---|---|
| U.S. Pacific (PST) | 8:00 AM, Fri Nov 27 |
| U.S. Eastern (EST) | 11:00 AM, Fri Nov 27 |
| UK (GMT) | 4:00 PM, Fri Nov 27 |
| Central Europe (CET) | 5:00 PM, Fri Nov 27 |
| Moscow (MSK) | 7:00 PM, Fri Nov 27 |
| Sydney (AEDT) | 3:00 AM, Sat Nov 28 |
There's usually a short gap between 7:59 AM and the moment the new track appears, and in past years a server update has come along with the new season. Don't plan your last Season 2 levels for the final hour.
When does NBA 2K27 Season 2 end?
Season 2 ends on Friday, November 27, 2026, and its passes expire at 7:59 AM PT that morning. That pass expiry is the one exact timestamp 2K has printed; the moment the free track flips over isn't stated separately, so treat 7:59 AM PT as your deadline for everything. The full footnote on the Season 2 pass graphic reads:
"The NBA 2K27 Season 2 Pro Pass and Hall of Fame Pass are available until 7:59AM PT, November 27th, 2026 after which they expire... Progress and rewards reset at the end of each Season." — 2K, Season 2 Pro Pass terms
Season 2's events back this up. The official Season Events Guide (updated October 21) runs Wear & Earn Wednesday "every Wednesday from October 21 – November 25," and the Seasons page adds a Thanksgiving 2XREP window on November 26–27. Nothing is scheduled after November 27 except Season 3.
What's left in Season 2 before it ends?
Here is everything 2K has scheduled for the rest of Season 2, from the official Seasons page and Season Events Guide:
| Dates (2026) | Event | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Oct 30 – Nov 1 | The Long Night (Halloween) | Trick or Treat in The City; Halloween apparel = 2XREP in The Theater, Park, Ante-Up and Triple Threat Park |
| Nov 4, 11, 18, 25 | Wear & Earn Wednesday | 2XREP while wearing that week's pop-up-shop apparel |
| Nov 7 – 8 | American Express 2XREP | Amex apparel = 2XREP in the same modes |
| Nov 13 – 15 | The CeraVe Splash Zone | Event Center scoring event; 3PT shots earn bonus points; all games 2XREP |
| Nov 20 – 22 | Crew Divisions Tournament | Crew tiers of rewards; Crew must be Silver or higher |
| Nov 26 – 27 | Thanksgiving 2XREP | Thanksgiving apparel = 2XREP in the same modes |
The Events Guide lists The Long Night as running October 20 – November 1, and the Seasons page lists its Halloween 2XREP part on October 30 – November 1. For the exact hours, check the Events menu in The City. 2K's own guide says to use it: "Always remember you can check your Events menu in The City to confirm start times and event details, too."
A note on Wear & Earn, since it's drawing complaints on r/NBA2k this week. 2K's page doesn't list which modes it covers, and players in an r/NBA2k thread say it doesn't count where they play. One player put it simply: "I only play rec so Wednesday's are usually useless to me." Another pointed out the price: "40k VC for a single day of double rep." If you only play The REC, it's worth switching modes for the CeraVe Splash Zone (every game in that Event Center event is 2XREP) and the Crew Divisions Tournament are worth more of your time than buying apparel. Our NBA 2K27 2X REP schedule tracks which modes each event covers.
What expires when Season 2 ends?
Two things clearly reset at 7:59 AM PT on November 27, and one important question is still open.
1. The Season 2 track and both paid passes. 2K's rule is "Progress and rewards reset at the end of each Season." You start Season 3 at Level 1, and a Season 2 Pro Pass ($9.99 on Steam) or Hall of Fame Pass ($19.99) doesn't carry over.
2. Seasonal Synergy slots. This one is in 2K's own builder documentation:
"Synergy earned via Season rewards expires at the end of each Season. Synergy earned through Build Specialization, Crew, and REP are permanent across all save files on your account." — NBA 2K27 MyPLAYER Builder page
The Season 2 track gives you four Synergy Badge Slots (Levels 7, 15, 25 and 35), and those are the ones that go away. If you want Synergy that stays, the Build Specialization track's Level 10 reward is a "permanent +2 Badge Synergy" slot. See our Synergy system guide for how Fuse and Reaction slots work.
3. Open question: the Season 2 GOAT Builds. 2K hasn't said whether you can still unlock Magic Johnson, Dirk Nowitzki or Young Kobe after Season 2 ends. They're Season-track rewards, and Season-track rewards have always been tied to their season. Until 2K says otherwise, assume Levels 26, 33 and 37 must be reached before 7:59 AM PT on November 27.
What doesn't reset: your VC, MyPLAYER builds, attributes, Cap Breakers you've already applied, REP, Lifetime Challenges progress and Synergy from Build Specialization, Crew and REP. The five REP GOAT Builds (Ray Allen, Hakeem Olajuwon, Derrick Rose, Michael Jordan, LeBron James) and the two Lifetime Challenge GOATs (Anthony Edwards at 300, Wilt Chamberlain at 350) aren't on the Season track, so the reset doesn't affect them.
What should you finish before Season 3?
With 29 days left as of October 29, here's the order we'd go in, starting with the things you can lose for good:
| Priority | Season 2 level | Reward | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| 🔴 1 | Level 26 | Magic Johnson GOAT Build | Probably can't be earned after Nov 27 |
| 🔴 2 | Level 33 | Dirk Nowitzki GOAT Build | Same |
| 🔴 3 | Level 37 | Young Kobe GOAT Build | Same |
| 🔴 4 | Level 40 | +1 Cap Breaker | The track's biggest permanent stat reward |
| 🟠 5 | Levels 11 / 16 / 31 / 36 | Bonus Badge Slots + Bonus Badge Tokens | Claim them. They're per-season rewards on the track |
| 🟡 6 | Levels 7 / 15 / 25 / 35 | Synergy Badge Slots | Use them now. They expire with the season |
On the MyTEAM side, the Season 2 track tops out at Level 40 Pixel Cut Karl-Anthony Towns, with Level 30 Dark Matter Devin Vassell and Level 20 Galaxy Opal Roy Hibbert before it. The Premier Exchange card (Pixel Cut Kareem Abdul-Jabbar) works differently. 2K says that "as long as you begin submitting cards while it's active in the Exchange, even once the timer runs out... you can still earn it at any time." Submit at least one card for Kareem before November 27 so your progress stays saved after the season ends. Our guide to The Exchange explains how submissions work.
How do you get there in time? 2K's Season 2 report says to "play games in The REC, Park, The Theater, and all other City game modes to gain XP," and MyTEAM games feed the same Season level. 2XREP events boost REP, not Season XP, so don't count on them for levels. The Hall of Fame Pass also adds a "15% XP Boost applied throughout the Season" and "10 Level Skips immediately applied to the Season," per 2K's Seasons page. Only buy it this late if those 10 skips actually get you to a GOAT Build level you'd otherwise miss. A pass you can't finish doesn't help you. For the fastest ways to level, see how to level up fast in Season 2, and for the full list of rewards, see the Season 2 reward track.
What will NBA 2K27 Season 3 add?
So far, 2K has only announced the dates. No headliner, reward track, GOAT Builds, park or MyTEAM card series for Season 3 has been revealed. Here's what we can reasonably expect, based on how 2K has handled every other season this year:
- A new 40-level reward track. 2K's FAQ describes it as "exclusive rewards every Season as you continue your climb to Level 40," with new Pro Pass and Hall of Fame Pass versions alongside it.
- A Courtside Report about two days before launch. Season 2's report and Newsroom post both came out on October 14, two days before Season 2 started on October 16. Expect Season 3's around November 24–25, and that's when the rewards, any new GOAT Builds and the new MyTEAM content will be revealed.
- A holiday theme. NBA 2K26's Season 3 also started the Friday after Thanksgiving, and 2K announced it as "a new wave of festive rewards, content, and challenges" (2K announcement, November 2025). A season running Nov 27 – Jan 15 covers the same holiday window.
- More Signature Blueprints. 2K's builder page says Signature Blueprint templates are "added each Season." It hasn't said the same about GOAT Builds, so don't assume new GOATs are coming until the Courtside Report says so.
What you shouldn't believe yet: "leaked" Season 3 GOAT Build lists, named Season 3 headliners or reward levels. None of those have come from 2K. If 2K hasn't posted a trailer or Courtside Report, any Season 3 reward list you see is a guess.
Should you save VC for Season 3?
Only if you're waiting to see what Season 3 adds before starting a new build. None of the 18 GOAT Builds is sold for VC: eight are open to everyone through the GOAT Builds builder path, and the other ten unlock through Season levels, REP or Lifetime Challenges. A new season doesn't change what VC buys. It just gives you new things to spend it on.
The practical approach: don't start a brand-new build in the last week of Season 2 if you might want a Season 3 GOAT Build or Blueprint instead. If you're upgrading a build you'll keep playing either way, there's nothing to gain by waiting. If you need more VC before the reset, our how to earn VC fast guide covers the legitimate in-game sources.
FAQ
When does NBA 2K27 Season 3 come out? Friday, November 27, 2026. 2K's official Seasons page lists Season 3 as running from November 27 to January 15, 2027. The expected start time is 8:00 AM PT / 11:00 AM ET / 4:00 PM GMT, the same slot Season 2 used and NBA 2K26 used for its own Season 3.
When does Season 2 end in NBA 2K27? On Friday, November 27, 2026. 2K's Season 2 Pro Pass and Hall of Fame Pass expire at 7:59 AM PT that morning, so use that as the deadline for finishing the Season 2 track.
How long is NBA 2K27 Season 3? Seven weeks (49 days), from November 27, 2026 to January 15, 2027. Season 2 was six weeks; Season 1 ran about seven weeks from its August 26 early-access start.
Can I still get the Magic, Dirk or Young Kobe GOAT Build after Season 2? 2K hasn't said. They're Season 2 track rewards at Levels 26, 33 and 37, so plan on reaching those levels before 7:59 AM PT on November 27.
Do I lose my Synergy slots when Season 3 starts? Only the ones from the Season track. 2K says Synergy earned via Season rewards expires at the end of each Season, while Synergy from Build Specialization, Crew and REP is permanent.
Do Wear & Earn Wednesdays count in The REC? 2K's page doesn't list the modes, and players report it doesn't help REC-only players. The apparel-based 2XREP events (Halloween, Amex, Thanksgiving) list The Theater, Park, Ante-Up and Triple Threat Park. The REC isn't on that list.
The bottom line
Season 3 of NBA 2K27 starts Friday, November 27, 2026, and runs to January 15, 2027, according to 2K's own Seasons page. Season 2's passes expire at 7:59 AM PT that morning. Use the next four weeks to reach Level 37 for Young Kobe and Level 40 for the Cap Breaker, start your Premier Exchange submission for Pixel Cut Kareem, and get the most out of your seasonal Synergy slots before they expire. Watch for the Season 3 Courtside Report around November 24–25. We'll update this page with the confirmed start time and the Season 3 rewards when 2K posts them. Applies to NBA 2K27 Season 2 (Update 2.0); last checked October 29, 2026.
