Quick answer: The latest Once Human update is Version 3.1.1. It went live after maintenance starting October 21, 2026 at 4:00 PM PT (scheduled for about 3 hours) (October 22 in Europe and Asia). It adds the Isles of Abyss ocean scenario (PvE, roughly a 21-day cycle), a new PvP ocean map called Isles of Abyss: RaidZone, a new Legendary weapon (SOCR - Cosmic Visitor) and armor (Snowline Elite Vest), a First Person OTS aim mode, the Halloween Wonder Night event (October 22 – November 11), and a batch of console changes: controller Sensitivity Presets, custom keyboard-and-mouse keybinds on PS5 and Xbox, and a new recycle button (R1+X on PlayStation, RB+A on Xbox). The download is about 12.29 GB on PS5 and 20.39 GB on Xbox. Log in before November 8, 2:00 PM PT to collect the free blueprints, 10,000 Starchrom and a 30-day Meta Pass trial from your mailbox. The next update is November 4, 2026 at 3:00 PM PT.
The official notes run to roughly 9,000 words across Steam and oncehuman.game, and most of that is shop copy. Below is what actually changes for you, with the console-specific changes pulled out into their own section, because almost every patch-note recap you'll find is written for PC. Everything here is checked against the studio's official Version 3.1.1 Update Announcement (mirrored on Steam) and the Isles of Abyss dev blog.
When did Once Human 3.1.1 go live, and how long was maintenance?
Maintenance started at 4:00 PM PT on Wednesday, October 21, 2026. In other time zones that's 7:00 PM ET, 23:00 UTC, and 00:00 BST / 01:00 CEST on Thursday, October 22. The studio's wording, as usual, leaves room for overruns:
"The maintenance is expected to last about 3 hours (The actual server opening time may differ). Please manage your time wisely." (Once Human, Version 3.1.1 Update Announcement)
That's longer than the usual 2-hour Wednesday window, and big content drops have run long before. If you still can't get in, our Once Human server status and maintenance guide covers the "Server under maintenance, please wait" screen and how to tell an outage from a queue.
How big is the Once Human update on PS5, Xbox and PC?
This is one of the biggest downloads the game has shipped. The studio says that's mostly the new Isles of Abyss scenario and the ocean RaidZone map. Here are the official figures:
| Platform | Launcher / full download | In-game patch |
|---|---|---|
| PS5 | ~12.29 GB | ~76 MB |
| Xbox Series X/S | ~20.39 GB | ~82 MB |
| PC | ~26.28 GB | ~751 MB |
| Android | ~4.8 GB | — |
| iOS | ~5.7 GB | — |
Two practical notes for console players. First, the Xbox download is almost 8 GB bigger than the PS5 one, so clear space before you start. Second, after the store download finishes you'll still get a small in-game patch on first launch. That's normal, not a second failed download. The PC note warns that a delayed Steam push "may" cause duplicate downloads, so if Steam starts the same patch again, let it finish.
What free rewards can you claim, and when do they expire?
There are two separate reward drops, and the second one has a deadline.
1. Standard maintenance compensation (in your mailbox): Starchrom ×1,000, Mitsuko's Mark ×100, Stardust Secret Crate·S15 (Epic) ×1 and Colorful Badge ×30.
2. Isles of Abyss celebration supply: sign in before November 8, 2026 at 2:00 PM PT to claim it from your mailbox:
- Legendary Weapon Blueprint: SOCR - Cosmic Visitor
- Legendary Gear Blueprint: Snowline Elite Vest
- Starchrom ×10,000
- 30-day Meta Pass Trial Card
- Limited weapon skin from the Howler set (Howler - DE.50, Howler - MP5 or Howler - EBR-14)
The studio's official "Unlock 10 Rewards" graphic (posted with the Scenario Fest announcement) also lists a login bonus for October 22, and it says that on Steam, Epic and console the DLC is claimed from the store page rather than the mailbox. If you're on PS5 or Xbox and the mail never shows up, look in the PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store listing for Once Human.
What's new in Isles of Abyss?
Isles of Abyss is the headline. It's a brand-new survival scenario set on an ocean archipelago, available on every platform (PC, console and mobile). The core rules from the notes:
- Scenario type: PvE. The notes state it in those words.
- Cycle: about 21 days. Phase I lasts roughly 5–10 days and gets shorter as your server's purification progress advances. Phase II lasts 11 days and unlocks the endgame boss, The Sunken Lord. A rest stage follows.
- 12 worlds per server. The first batch is 4 servers in North America and Europe (Isles_Abyss-X0001 to X0004) and 2 for South America, Japan, Korea, Southeast Asia and HK/MO/TW. More open as servers fill.
- No advance sign-up. Once servers are open, you join from the scenario sign-up screen.
- Permanent server: expected November 18, 2026 (PT), opening before the first batch closes so everyone can merge in.
- Characters start at max level, and progression runs through Tech. Your Blueprints and Mods come with you, but craftable gear rarity and active Mod attributes unlock as Tech rises. The Cradle is not available in this scenario.
New on the content side: ships you build in Build Mode that act as a vehicle and a movable territory, diving gear (Basic and Shark Diving Suits, Oxygen Tank, Spear Gun), four Haywire Zones (Mist of Deceit, Black Tide, Time Rain, Skyfire), a capturable Bay Crocodile water mount with 10% DMG Reduction, the Heart of the Ocean resource, and new enemies such as Rosetta: Abyssal Iron Guard and the barnacle-covered Abyssal Sea Kins. Beating The Sunken Lord can drop the new Deviation Duet, which changes the weather inside your territory.
We've already covered the details in separate guides: how to join Isles of Abyss on PS5 and Xbox, shipbuilding, Haywire Zones and the Sunken Lord boss.
What changed in RaidZone?
RaidZone gets an ocean map, Isles of Abyss: RaidZone. It has no separate worlds, so everyone on the server is in the same waters, and supplies are scarcer than in PvE. Your ship has a shared HP pool. Saving its blueprint at the Anchor raises that maximum HP, and at 0 HP the ship sinks. Anything stored aboard is not refunded.
There's one server per region (RaidZone_Isles_Abyss-A0001), and it reopens every two weeks. North America and Europe also get a 【Console】 server, available only to players on console. To get in, switch to RaidZone mode in the upper-left corner of the character sign-in page. The full rules are in our Once Human RaidZone guide.
What do the new SOCR - Cosmic Visitor and Snowline Elite Vest do?
Both are built around two Frost keywords, Frost Vortex and Ice Spear, and both blueprints are free in the celebration mail. The notes describe the SOCR - Cosmic Visitor like this:
- Hits have a chance to create a Frost Vortex, and the first hit after a reload always triggers one.
- After a certain number of hits, it fires an Ice Spear that locks on and explodes on impact.
- Every Frost Vortex fires a volley of Ice Spears at targets in sight.
- Kills also fire Ice Spears, on a short cooldown.
- Ice Spear counts as an Ice Construct, so it benefits from Ice Construct keyword effects.
The Snowline Elite Vest makes each Frost Vortex trigger its effects one extra time without creating an extra vortex. Each vortex also adds a Frost Vortex damage stack, up to 5 stacks for 5 seconds.
The studio hasn't published damage numbers, proc rates or the hit count for the lock-on spear, so any "best SOCR build" you read this week is built on player testing rather than official figures. Because the blueprints are free, building a tier-1 copy just to try it out is cheap. One player in a launch-night r/OnceHumanOfficial thread made the same point: a tier 1 early or a tier 5 late game isn't expensive, so just make one and test it.
What is First Person OTS?
First Person OTS is a new aim state for first-person mode. It's a hip-fire-style stance between hip fire and ADS:
"Compared to traditional ADS aiming, First Person OTS provides a wider field of view, making it perfect for rapid, mid-to-close range firefights. However, to maintain balance, bullet spread is larger in OTS than in ADS." (Once Human, Version 3.1.1 Update Announcement)
It uses the same buttons and sensitivity settings as the existing third-person OTS. The old "First Person Aim" keybinds have moved into the Aim settings category, so if your first-person aim binding seems to have vanished, look there. First-person mode also gets much less speed loss when strafing or backpedalling, smoother sniper and SMG swap animations, a lower MG4 sprint pose so it blocks less of the screen, and Death Replay support.
First-person mode itself isn't new or console-only. It launched for everyone in the July 9, 2026 update.
What changed for PS5 and Xbox players?
These are the console changes in the update, gathered from five different sections of the notes:
| Change | What it means on console |
|---|---|
| Sensitivity Presets | New option in controller settings: pick an official stick-feel preset in one click instead of tuning every slider |
| Collapsible settings menu | Sensitivity, camera coefficient and vibration settings now fold under "+" / "−" rows |
| Controller vibration customization | Detailed vibration options added on PC and console |
| Custom keyboard & mouse keybinds on consoles | Listed as new: you can now remap KB&M keys on PS5/Xbox |
| New recycle button | PlayStation: R1+X, Xbox: RB+A (PC: H). The character now pulls out the tool automatically outside your territory |
| Photo while driving | Hold D-pad down to open the Function Wheel |
| Spacetime while driving | Left on the D-pad |
| Dismount button layout | Move and resize the dismount button in Settings |
| Console bug reports | Now feed into the Feedback Platform, so you can see your report history and dev replies |
| RaidZone tactical storage box | Simpler controller interactions on console |
| Console menus | Shop and Battle Pass entries display better, with event start reminders |
If you set up your controller using our best controller settings for PS5 and Xbox, try the new Sensitivity Presets as a baseline, then fine-tune from there. Keyboard-and-mouse players should re-check our mouse and keyboard on PS5 and Xbox guide now that custom keybinds are officially listed.
What's in the Halloween Wonder Night event?
Halloween Wonder Night runs October 22 – November 11 (server time). It has four parts:
- Blind boxes. Complete tasks to earn Blind Box openings. Each opening gives a random-flavour Candy and has a chance at a Hidden Edition. Open 5 Regular Editions for a Stardust Secret Crate·S15 (Rare). Open 4 Regular plus 1 Hidden for a Stardust Secret Crate·S15 (Epic), Halloween-exclusive Pumpkin Seeds and a Halloween Lucky Crate. Total openings also unlock a progress track topped by a Stardust Secret Crate·S15 (Legendary), a furniture formula and a random Shiny Mod. Unused openings expire when the event ends, and the progress reward can be claimed once per account, not once per character.
- Candy Bait visitors. Place Candy Bait in your own territory or a Hive squadmate's, and "Little Ones" show up and leave gifts based on how much they like the flavour. Possible drops include Pumpkin Seeds, Starchrom and Halloween Lucky Crates.
- Pumpkin planting. Plant Jack-o'-Lantern Seeds in territory soil and water them to grow Jack-o'-Lantern Headgear. Fertilizer doesn't work on them, harvested pumpkins last 3 days in your backpack, and every unplanted seed is removed after November 18 at 6:00 (server time).
- Spooky Night Check-In. Daily logins pay out Lightforge Ingots, the "Pumpkin Sugar Bowl" furniture formula and Advanced Dye.
Separately, an Ocean Cleanup event (Isles of Abyss only) has you collect Old Iron Buckets for rewards from Mr. Wish - Penguin Hope. A Mysterious Morphed Deviation event runs until December 30 (PT): fish at sea or find its boss form in the Wilderness, knock it back, and you can take it home. The Halloween shop tab doesn't open until October 28 (PT).
What else changed in the shop, Mods, enemies and bug fixes?
- Mods: Legendary Mod Crates now go straight into your backpack instead of dropping on the ground, and Mods are automatically moved over when you replace a weapon.
- Acting Physician: bigger core-terminal hitbox, and below Lv 40 it can self-repair only once.
- Gear workbench: filter calibration blueprints by stat type and value. Combo Chipsets can be batch-crafted.
- Anti-cheat: improved detection, aimed at fewer false positives.
- Shop: First Top Up Double Bonus on every Crystgin tier (once per tier, per account), the Bone Path Lightforge Loot Crate, the new Ace Under Mask Battle Pass, and a choice of one of three returning Battle Passes (Seasons 2, 3 and 5).
- Custom Dye: 23 more fashion sets now support it.
- Bug fixes: The Way of Winter Permanent Server weather sticking after it should clear, rare-pattern animals displaying wrong, pollution-zone enemies not respawning, long-absent players being unable to place items in their territory, "Drive"/"Ride" prompts appearing late, and the rescue bot failing to find lost items.
When is the next Once Human update?
The notes give the next one as November 4, 2026 at 3:00 PM PT. That's an hour earlier than the usual 4:00 PM slot. The most likely reason is that US clocks go back on November 1, and in UTC it lands at 23:00, the same as this week's start. The next fixed date after that is the Isles of Abyss permanent server around November 18. Halloween runs until November 11, and the celebration mail expires November 8.
