Palworld 1.0.4 Patch Notes: New Missions, Base Pal Buffs & Full Changelog

Palworld's v1.0.4 update is live (console build 1.102.642), and unlike the balance-only 1.0.3, this one adds actual new content: two new sub-missions, a meaningful pass on how your Base Pals behave, a fishing overhaul, and a wall of bug fixes — including one Awakening-farm fix World Tree players have been begging for. Here's the full changelog with the parts that actually change how you play pulled to the top.

Key takeaways — Palworld 1.0.4

- New content: two sub-missions, Beyond Dimensions (start it at Fisherman's Point in Mount Obsidian) and From the Far Side of the Moon (unlocks after you clear the first).

- Base Pals got smarter: summoned and Base Pals now prioritize higher-damage skills, and charging-type skill behavior was fixed.

- Fishing reworked: difficulty rebalanced in Sunreach and the World Tree, bait rewards adjusted, and a new Fish Behavior During Fishing Minigames World Setting.

- Awakening farmers rejoice: the bug where World Tree Radiant Gems dropped mismatched/overly-biased elements is fixed.

- QoL: Palpedia name search, a default 120 FPS cap on PC, and version-mismatch errors now show the target's version.

If the climb to 80 is the part you want to skip, our Palworld leveling service handles it on PC, Xbox and PlayStation, on your own world or a dedicated server.

What is the Palworld 1.0.4 update?

Palworld v1.0.4 is a content-and-fixes patch (console build 1.102.642) rolled out in early September 2026 for all platforms. It follows the July 10, 2026 full 1.0 launch and the August 12 balance patch (1.0.3), and it is the first post-launch update to add brand-new missions rather than just tuning numbers. Pocketpair shipped it with two new sub-missions, adjustments to Pal combat AI at your base, a fishing rework, and more than 100 individual bug fixes across crashes, multiplayer, missions, passives, and UI.

If your game still says you're on an older build, update before you troubleshoot anything — a large share of "broken" reports every patch cycle are just players on a stale version. Version-mismatch errors in co-op now even tell you the target's version, which makes that easier to catch.

New missions in Palworld 1.0.4

The headline additions are two chained sub-missions:

  • Beyond Dimensions — accept it from an NPC at Fisherman's Point in Mount Obsidian, the volcanic region in the northwest of the Palpagos Islands.
  • From the Far Side of the Moon — becomes available only after you clear Beyond Dimensions.

Per the patch notice, "'Beyond Dimensions' can be accepted from an NPC at Fisherman's Point in Mount Obsidian" and "'From the Far Side of the Moon' can be progressed after clearing 'Beyond Dimensions.'" Two things to note before you run out there: Mount Obsidian is a high-level volcanic zone (bring a Heat-Resistant armor tier and ideally an Ice-type Pal for the local Alphas), and fresh sub-missions are some of the cleanest player XP in the game right now because 1.0's mission-reward pass was large. If you're pushing toward the level 80 cap, running a new mission the day it drops is free progress — see the leveling section below.

Pals and skills: your Base Pals just got smarter

This is the change most players will actually feel. In 1.0.4, Pocketpair:

  • Adjusted summoned Pals and Base Pals to prioritize skills expected to deal higher damage. If you fight with a Pal out, or rely on base-defense Pals during a raid, they should now lead with their heavy hitters instead of spamming a weak filler move.
  • Adjusted behavior when Base Pals use charging-type skills — the awkward wind-up loops that sometimes left a Pal stuck mid-cast are addressed.
  • Mission target Pals and NPCs will no longer fall asleep, which quietly fixes a class of stuck quests.
  • Adjusted Lapure's swimming speed and the homing-enhancement value from Lunaris Effigies.
  • Changed the Work Suitability level required to gather Ancient Bark to Lv. 1 — so almost any Gathering Pal can now collect it, removing a mid-game bottleneck for ancient-tier crafting.

That Ancient Bark change is small but real: it means you no longer need a high-Gathering specialist parked just to feed your ancient workbench line.

Battle changes

  • Power Bomb minimum-use distance was changed to "make repeated unnatural backsteps before use less likely" — a fix for the annoying backpedal-spam pattern.
  • Backstep behavior for summoned Pals was adjusted for certain skills.
  • Core Eject damage on the Core Eject Shotgun was adjusted.

None of these is a full weapon-meta shake-up, but if the Core Eject Shotgun was in your rotation, re-check its damage before you commit to a boss run.

Fishing rework

1.0.4 gives fishing its first serious tuning pass since launch:

  • Fishing difficulty rebalanced at spots in Sunreach and the World Tree area.
  • Bait rewards adjusted — the amount of items you get from a successful catch now scales by bait type.
  • New control guides, warnings, and recommended-equipment displays appear while fishing.
  • A new "Fish Behavior During Fishing Minigames" option was added to World Settings, so you can tune how aggressively fish fight the line.

Fishing matters more than it looks: it's a source of Growth Acceleration Bells (per-Pal EXP accessories) and, in the endgame, part of the loop for scarce World Tree materials. A smoother minigame in Sunreach and the World Tree makes those farms less painful.

Items, shops, and the Pal Critic

  • The Echoing Flute can now be dropped from the inventory — a relief for anyone who finished the Panthalus questline and had the crafted flute stuck in their bag forever.
  • Pal Critic requirements changed: in Sakurajima, the Pal Critic now wants Dogen instead of Selyne; in Sunreach, they now want Faleris Aqua instead of Bastigor.
  • Shop math got safer: fixed a bug where selling multiple items could calculate the total incorrectly, plus item-count sync fixes when moving stacks.

Bases and building

  • Canceling work at a production facility now returns materials to your inventory (instead of dropping them), unless you're over your weight limit with auto-pickup off.
  • New anti-grief zones: with building restrictions enabled on a server, you now can't build around the desert Field Boss Suzaku, the desert Main Mission cave, and some Sakurajima mission locations.
  • Campfires no longer set you, your summoned Pals, or your Base Pals on fire on contact — a long-requested quality-of-life fix.
  • Admins get a new per-player building-count limit server setting.
  • Fixes for the Ancient Material Synthesizer work-speed multiplier not applying after a reload, and worker-Pal assignments not reflecting correctly at base facilities.

Fishing, field, and performance

Beyond the fishing minigame, 1.0.4 tightens the world itself: adjusted terrain and water display in Sunreach and the World Tree, tweaked updraft positions (relevant if you glide with the Wing Pack), and reduced rendering load in the World Tree plus less stuttering when some passive skills activate. Console players get reduced memory usage on Xbox One and during PS5 co-op.

The bug fixes that matter

1.0.4's changelog runs to over a hundred fixes. The ones worth knowing:

  • Radiant Gems from wild World Tree Pals no longer drop mismatched or overly-biased elements. If your Awakening farm was drowning in one element (the community's loudest complaint was "electric Radiant Gems from everything"), this is the fix — and it directly speeds up Awakening any elemental Pal.
  • Passive skills fixed: the Lucky passive's defense bonus now activates, the Idiosyncratic mutation passive works, Mercy Hit applies correctly while riding, and Grintale's mutated-egg boost now reflects mutated stat values. Anyone breeding for mutations or running Lucky Pals was quietly losing value before this.
  • Main Mission unblocked: fixed the case where the World Tree Guardian wouldn't appear if you beat Panthalus before progressing the Main Mission — a genuine soft-lock for players who rushed the World Tree gate.
  • World Tree boss warning indicators that could fail to appear are fixed (fewer cheap deaths to Zenara & Astralym).
  • Co-op fixes: joining players not landing in the host's guild, and the host's mission progressing when a client entered a mission area.
  • Crash fixes around fishing-spot animations, sorting Pals on a server, long mission descriptions, and title-screen connection errors.

What 1.0.4 does NOT change

To keep expectations straight: 1.0.4 does not raise the level cap (still 80), add new Pals (still 287 in the Paldeck), add new tower bosses (still 9, ending at Zenara & Astralym), or touch the capture-bonus (5 catches) or condensing (48 Pals) costs set at 1.0. It also isn't related to Palworld Online, the separate Garena-licensed mobile MMO announced in August — that's a different product. This is a content-and-stability patch for the game you already own, free as always.

How to turn 1.0.4 into fast levels

Every patch that adds missions is a leveling opportunity, because 1.0's mission rewards are generous and fresh quests haven't been "solved" by the community yet. The fastest legit route to the level 80 cap is still stacking parallel XP streams rather than grinding one:

  • Run the new sub-missions firstBeyond Dimensions and From the Far Side of the Moon — for immediate quest XP.
  • Capture-chain low-level species (5 catches completes the bonus) while you travel to Mount Obsidian.
  • Keep a passive base-crafting line running (the classic arrow-crafting Pal) so you and your party gain XP while you're out.
  • Clear dungeons and enemy camps for their standalone completion XP on top of the capture bonuses inside.

If you'd rather skip straight to the endgame — Awakening, the World Tree, and the Lv.80 fights this patch just made smoother — that's exactly what our leveling service is for.

FAQ

What version is Palworld's 1.0.4 update? v1.0.4 (console build 1.102.642) is the content-and-fixes patch rolled out in early September 2026 on all platforms (Steam, Microsoft Store, PS5, Xbox, Game Pass). It follows the July 10, 2026 full 1.0 launch and the August 12 balance patch (1.0.3), and it's the first post-launch update to add new missions rather than only tuning numbers.

Where do I start the new Beyond Dimensions mission? Talk to the NPC at Fisherman's Point in Mount Obsidian, the volcanic region in the northwest of the Palpagos Islands. After you complete Beyond Dimensions, the follow-up mission From the Far Side of the Moon becomes available.

Did 1.0.4 add name search to the Palbox? No — the new name search was added to the Palpedia only, not the Palbox. This is a common point of confusion. You can now search Pals by name in the Palpedia (handy in randomized worlds), but Palbox filtering is unchanged in this patch.

Does 1.0.4 fix the biased Radiant Gem drops? Yes. Pocketpair fixed the issue where Radiant Gems dropped by wild Pals in the World Tree area could have mismatched or overly-biased elements. In practice that makes Awakening a specific-element Pal much faster, since you'll get a healthier spread of gem elements from farming World Tree Alphas.

Do I need to start a new save for 1.0.4? No. 1.0.4 is a free update applied to your existing save on any platform. Just update the game; there's no price increase and no new-character requirement.

Is 1.0.4 the same as Palworld Online? No. Palworld Online is a separate Garena-licensed mobile MMO announced in August 2026. v1.0.4 is an update to the main Palworld game (PC/console) by Pocketpair — the two are unrelated.
