Warframe Best Melee Weapons Tier List (Update 43.5, September 2026)

Warframe has more than a hundred melee weapons and no ranked ladder, so "best melee" only means something once you attach it to content. This tier list ranks the melee weapons that actually carry Steel Path, endgame survival and level-cap endurance as of Update 43.5: Amir's Shockwave (September 2026) — the current live build. It is a use-case list, not an objective ranking: Digital Extremes publishes no weapon damage numbers, so every placement is community consensus (overframe.gg build data, r/Warframe, Sportskeeda) cross-checked against the official Warframe wiki, and it is stamped to this patch on purpose. Melee gets rebalanced on Riven disposition passes and hotfixes, so a list without a version is worthless.

Quick answer: the best melee weapons right now (Update 43.5)

  • Best all-round melee: Kronen Prime — dual tonfas with a crit/status hybrid statline that is close to perfect for the universal combo build. The single most-recommended melee in the game.
  • Best thrown / AoE melee: Glaive Prime — heavy-attack detonations clear rooms and the blade recalls through everything.
  • Best "range" single-target melee: Redeemer Prime or Corufell — gunblades that fire at a distance so you never leave melee range.
  • Best free endgame melee: any Incarnon Genesis melee from the Steel Path Circuit, plus the Xoris (a free glaive whose heavy attack forces Electricity procs).
  • The real lever: the base weapon matters far less than the build. A B-tier melee with Blood Rush + Weeping Wounds + Condition Overload + Melee Influence out-damages an S-tier melee thrown together badly.

Why the build matters more than the weapon

Ask r/Warframe what the best melee is and the most-upvoted answer is rarely a weapon name — it is a shrug about mods. As one veteran put it, "Steel Path is just a knowledge check on whether or not you've started to grasp the fundamentals of buildcrafting." Melee is the weapon slot where that is most true, because almost every top-tier melee runs the same core of combo-scaling mods. Get the core right and dozens of weapons become endgame-viable.

The universal Steel Path melee core, and the numbers behind it:

  • Blood Rush — adds +40% additional critical chance per melee combo multiplier tier at max rank. Your combo counter caps at a 12x multiplier, so a weapon with modest base crit can reach red-crit territory once your combo is full.
  • Weeping Wounds — the status-chance mirror of Blood Rush; status scales with the same combo counter, so you reach near-guaranteed procs at high combo.
  • Condition Overload — up to +80% melee damage per unique status effect on the target. Stacked with Viral, Heat, Slash and more, this is the single biggest melee damage multiplier in the game.
  • Galvanized mods — Galvanized Elementalist (status damage), Galvanized Steel (status-scaling crit) and Galvanized Reflex (heavy attacks) replace their base versions once you hit Steel Path.
  • Tennokai mods — grant free, guaranteed heavy attacks mid-combo without spending your counter, the backbone of most 2026 melee builds.
  • Melee Influence (arcane) — the dominant AoE melee arcane. Per the official wiki, Melee Influence "grants melee Electricity status procs a 20% chance to grant a timed buff that causes melee elemental status effects to spread to enemies around the targeted enemy." Pair a gas + electric damage build with it and your status effects jump between whole crowds.

That core is why the tiers below cluster so tightly: the S and A tiers are mostly weapons whose base statline lets this build shine — high crit, high status, fast attack speed, or a big slam.

S-tier melee weapons (Steel Path & endgame)

These clear Steel Path with the least investment and the widest coverage.

  • Kronen Prime — dual tonfa. The consensus best all-round melee. Its in-game statline (about 22% critical chance, 2x crit multiplier, 34% status, 1.17 attack speed with heavy Slash) is close to the ideal Blood Rush/Weeping Wounds/Condition Overload base, and the tonfa animations spread that status fast. Farmed from the Prime Vault via Relics — check whether it is currently vaulted before you hunt it.
  • Incarnon melees (weekly, from the Circuit). Weapons like Ceramic Dagger, Innodem, Skana Prime, Dual Ichor and the other melee Incarnon Geneses become S-tier once evolved. The catch is availability: the Steel Path Circuit offers a rotating set each week (see the farming section), so which S-tier Incarnon you can get right now depends on the day you read this.
  • Nikana Prime / Dual Keres Prime. Two of the most reliable crit-hybrid platforms for the universal build — high slash, fast, and forgiving to mod.

A-tier melee weapons

Excellent picks that either need a little more investment or fill a narrower job.

  • Glaive Prime — thrown blade. The best thrown option: charge a heavy attack, throw, and the detonation nukes a group while the blade recalls through more enemies. Its statline (~22% crit, 30% status, 1.25 attack speed, big Slam Attack) makes it a monster heavy-attack weapon and it never makes you leave cover.
  • Redeemer Prime / Corufell — gunblades. These fire a ranged blast on heavy attack, giving you "melee" damage from across the room — ideal for anything that punishes standing in melee range.
  • Reaper Prime — scythe. A cheap-to-farm (common Relics), fast crit scythe that carries the standard build comfortably and is a fantastic first "real" melee for a newer Tenno.
  • Xoris — glaive (free). Handed out during the Deadlock Protocol quest; its heavy attack applies forced Electricity, which feeds Melee Influence perfectly. Infinite combo duration on the base weapon makes it a favourite for ability-caster frames.
  • Stropha, Sampotes, Tenet Livia, Broken War, Praedos, Nami Solo. All strong, all run the same core; pick on feel and mastery availability.

B-tier and honourable mentions

Perfectly capable of clearing Steel Path in the right hands — they just need more forma, a better Riven, or a specific frame to shine. Slam-focused hammers and polearms (for slam-radial builds), older crit daggers before their Incarnon, and most non-Prime variants land here. Remember the community rule of thumb from the meta threads: "any works — best weapons are generally adversaries and incarnon, what actually matters is the mods and arcane you put on them."

How to get and build these melee weapons

Prime melees (Kronen Prime, Glaive Prime, Nikana Prime, Reaper Prime, etc.) come from Void Relics. Acquire relics from missions, Syndicate standing or trading, run Void Fissures to crack them, and craft the parts in the Foundry. If the Prime you want is retired, it returns through Prime Resurgence via Varzia in Maroo's Bazaar. Our Prime parts farming guide walks through the fastest relic nodes and refinement.

Incarnon melees come from The Circuit on Steel Path. Per the official wiki, you run The Circuit with the Steel Path modifier to earn "up to two Incarnon Geneses every week," picking from a set of adapters at the Tier 5 and Tier 10 rewards. The offered set rotates weekly and resets Monday, so plan your grind around the live rotation. Once earned, the Genesis is applied to the weapon directly through its Incarnon upgrade screen.

Then build for the core: Blood Rush, Weeping Wounds, Condition Overload, a Galvanized mod, Tennokai, and a gas + electric element pairing for Melee Influence. That single template carries every weapon on this list.

Getting there faster — without breaking the rules

Melee is the least grind-heavy weapon slot, but Riven mods and a full Prime set still cost time. The legitimate ways to speed it up are all in-game: farm relics in a squad so you can pick from all four rewards, buy vaulted relics with Aya from Varzia, and trade player-to-player through the in-game Trading Post in a Clan Dojo or Maroo's Bazaar — the only trading Digital Extremes sanctions. Learn the trade rules first in our how to trade in Warframe guide. Avoid third-party platinum, account or "leveling" sellers entirely: DE's support pages call those sellers "not legitimate," and its EULA prohibits secondary markets and third-party leveling services by name. Earn plat by selling your own Prime parts and duplicate mods, then buy the melee you want on your own terms.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best melee weapon in Warframe right now? The community consensus best all-round melee as of Update 43.5 (September 2026) is Kronen Prime, thanks to a crit/status statline that is almost tailor-made for the standard Blood Rush + Weeping Wounds + Condition Overload build. But "best" is content-dependent — Glaive Prime wins for thrown AoE and gunblades like Redeemer Prime win when you need range.

Does the melee weapon even matter, or is it the mods? The mods matter more. Steel Path is, in the words of experienced players, "a knowledge check on buildcrafting" — once you own the combo-scaling core (Blood Rush, Weeping Wounds, Condition Overload, a Galvanized mod and Tennokai) plus the Melee Influence arcane, dozens of weapons become endgame-viable. Pick a weapon you enjoy and build it properly rather than chasing a single "#1."

What mods should every melee weapon use for Steel Path? The universal core is Blood Rush (crit scaling with combo), Weeping Wounds (status scaling with combo), Condition Overload (up to +80% damage per status type), a Galvanized mod, a Tennokai mod for free heavy attacks, and a gas + electric element setup to trigger Melee Influence. Swap one or two slots for range or attack speed depending on the weapon.

How do I get Incarnon melee weapons? Run The Circuit in Steel Path mode. You can earn up to two Incarnon Genesis adapters per week from the Tier 5 and Tier 10 rewards, chosen from a set that rotates every Monday. Once earned, the Genesis unlocks the weapon's evolved form through its Incarnon upgrade screen.

Are heavy-attack and slam builds still good? Yes. Glaives (Glaive Prime, Xoris) and gunblades (Redeemer Prime, Corufell) lean on heavy attacks and remain top-tier for AoE and ranged damage. For those weapons, Blood Rush is often swapped for Corrupt Charge or Galvanized Reflex, since you are not relying on the combo counter for crit.

Is Kronen Prime available right now? Prime availability rotates. Kronen Prime is farmed from Void Relics when unvaulted, and returns through Prime Resurgence when it is not. Check the current Prime Access and Prime Resurgence rotations on warframe.com before you start farming, or trade for the relics you need player-to-player.
