Next CS2 Major: PGL Major Singapore 2026 Dates, Format and How Teams Qualify

The next Counter-Strike 2 Major is PGL Major Singapore 2026, running 25 November to 13 December 2026. What decides who plays happens much sooner: on Monday 2 November, Valve publishes the Valve Regional Standings (VRS) snapshot that hands out all 32 invitations. There is no open qualifier circuit — bar one narrow exception, covered below, a team's position in the VRS on that Monday is its invitation. The start date is not settled: PGL's event page and the Singapore Indoor Stadium listing say 25 November, while two PGL press releases, in April and August 2026, give the 24th.

The next seven weeks decide it, starting on 17 September with StarSeries 20 in Barcelona.

PGL Major Singapore 2026: dates, venue and prize pool

Singapore is the second CS2 Major of 2026, after IEM Cologne in June, and PGL bills it as the first in Southeast Asia: 32 teams, a $1.25 million prize pool, and playoffs on 10–13 December at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, which PGL describes as holding over 12,000 spectators. Within that span, PGL has confirmed only the playoff window.

The Major format: three Swiss stages, then a bracket

Valve's Major supplemental rulebook sets the structure:

  • Stage 1 — 16 teams, Swiss bracket
  • Stage 2 — 16 teams, Swiss bracket
  • Stage 3 — 16 teams, Swiss bracket
  • Playoffs — single elimination, the top 8 from Stage 3

Each of the three Swiss stages works the same way: three wins advance, three losses eliminate, teams face opponents on an identical win-loss record, and elimination or advancement matches are best-of-three. Every other match in those stages is a best-of-one. Eight teams survive each stage and are joined by eight fresh invites for the next, which is why 32 invited teams produce an eight-team playoff bracket.

The Grand Final is a best-of-five, and PGL has added a third-place decider match it calls a first for the Major.

How teams qualify: the 2 November VRS snapshot

All 32 slots are invitations drawn from the VRS, split across three stages:

  • 16 teams invited directly to Stage 1
  • 8 teams invited directly to Stage 2
  • 8 teams invited directly to Stage 3

A Stage 3 invite skips two Swiss gauntlets entirely.

Valve's rulebook assigns one Stage 3 invitation to a region for every team from that region that reached the Playoffs of the previous Major. Cologne's playoff field was six European teams, two from the Americas and none from Asia — exactly the Stage 3 split Liquipedia now shows for Singapore. Beyond that it is provisional: Valve's published regional table still shows the Winter 2025 allocation, and the rulebook gives no mechanism for dividing the 16 Stage 1 places. Liquipedia's current slot map has 18 invites for Europe, nine for the Americas and five for Asia.

Invitations use three regional lists — Europe, Americas and Asia. The global VRS is used only for seeding, after invitations are accepted; a roster's region is the one its majority of players represent. This is Valve's ranking, not the community-run world ranking — only the VRS decides invites.

Who is near the top of each regional list

That provisional map would put 18 European rosters, nine from the Americas and five from Asia in the field. The 7 September snapshot has Spirit top of Europe on 2,031 points, ahead of MOUZ (1,902), Falcons (1,881), FUT (1,846) and Vitality (1,841). In the Americas, FISSURE Playground 3 champions Legacy lead on 1,783 from FURIA (1,754) and 9z (1,606). Asia is headed by The MongolZ (1,460), TYLOO (1,364) and Lynn Vision (1,274).

Only one more regular snapshot, on 5 October, lands before the 2 November invitation snapshot.

The intact-roster trap

Invitations go to intact rosters, in order: Stage 3 first, then Stage 2, then Stage 1. If a roster declines or is no longer intact, it does not play and the next-highest ranked roster takes the slot; only if a region runs out of eligible rosters does Valve fall back to a last-chance regional qualifier. The registered roster must match the invited Core Lineup, plus an optional coach and one substitute who would not change the lineup's regional assignment.

That rule has teeth this month. The VRS ranks rosters, not organisations — each line is a named lineup, and the same organisation can appear twice with different players, as Chinggis Warriors and Rare Atom both do in Asia. Asia's top-ranked roster on 7 September was The MongolZ with bLitz, Techno4K, 910, DarkMeister and tikuak. On 15 September, after a poor FISSURE Playground 3 campaign played with cobrazera standing in for Techno4K, the organisation benched both DarkMeister and tikuak, leaving three active players and coach maaRaa. PGL's deadline to confirm final team details is 6 November, four days after the snapshot.

The run-in before the cut-off

The big events left before 2 November now double as Major qualifying:

  • 17–20 September — StarSeries 20
  • 17–23 September — Logitech G Play Connect
  • 25–28 September — 1win Private Club #1
  • 1–4 October — Stake Ranked Episode 4
  • 3–11 October — ESL Pro League
  • 14–18 October — Thunderpick World Championship
  • 19–22 October — 1win Private Club #2
  • 24–31 October — PGL Masters Bucharest
  • 27–30 October — Stake Ranked Episode 5

Three fall on the wrong side of the line: IEM Beijing starts on 2 November itself, BLAST Rivals runs 11–15 November, and Stake Ranked Episode 6 runs 17–20 November — all on or after the day invitations are allocated.
