PGL published the opening pairings for PGL Masters Bucharest 2026 on 16 October, a week before the tournament starts. The $1,250,000, 16-team LAN runs 24–31 October at PGL Studio in Bucharest, and all eight first-round best-of-threes are now set, with G2 Esports against Natus Vincere in the opening day's final slot. It is the last S-Tier event whose results land before the Valve Regional Standings snapshot that sets the Major field.
Opening day: all eight matches
Round 1 is played on Saturday 24 October. Every match is a best-of-three, and the times below are EEST (UTC+3) — Romania does not move its clocks back until the following day.
- 10:00 EEST (07:00 UTC) — FUT Esports vs TYLOO
- 10:00 EEST (07:00 UTC) — Aurora Gaming vs The MongolZ
- 13:00 EEST (10:00 UTC) — Team Spirit vs BetBoom Team
- 13:00 EEST (10:00 UTC) — MOUZ vs Team Liquid
- 16:00 EEST (13:00 UTC) — Legacy vs Nemiga Gaming
- 16:00 EEST (13:00 UTC) — Team Vitality vs 9z Team
- 19:00 EEST (16:00 UTC) — G2 Esports vs Natus Vincere
- 19:00 EEST (16:00 UTC) — FURIA vs DENDELE CS
Matches run two at a time on parallel streams, which is why each slot holds two ties. Vitality arrive as ESL Pro League Season 24 champions, having beaten MOUZ 3-0 in the Katowice grand final on 11 October, and open against 9z Team. Four of the eight ties pair two direct Valve Regional Standings invites: Aurora–MongolZ, Spirit–BetBoom, Vitality–9z and G2–NAVI.
Format and what is scheduled so far
Sixteen teams play a Swiss group stage, every match a best-of-three: three wins advance, three losses eliminate. The group stage runs over five rounds on five consecutive days, one round per day, from 24 to 28 October. Only Round 1 has published start times; Rounds 2 to 5 fall after the clocks go back, on EET (UTC+2).
The top eight go into a single-elimination bracket: best-of-three until a best-of-five grand final on Saturday 31 October at 13:00 EET (11:00 UTC), with the third-place match at 10:00 EET the same day. Beyond that final day, PGL's event page carries no playoff schedule, and Liquipedia's bracket leaves the quarter-final and semi-final dates blank.
The map pool is Ancient, Anubis, Cache, Dust II, Inferno, Mirage and Nuke — the same seven maps used at ESL Pro League Season 24.
The 16 teams
Twelve were invited directly off the Valve Regional Standings: Team Spirit, Team Vitality, Natus Vincere, FURIA, MOUZ, Legacy, Aurora Gaming, G2 Esports, BetBoom Team, FUT Esports, 9z Team and The MongolZ.
Four more came through regional qualifiers — Nemiga Gaming from Europe, Team Liquid from North America, DENDELE CS from South America and TYLOO from Asia.
Falcons are not in the field, though five teams who are — Aurora, Legacy, FURIA, BetBoom and 9z — are also at this week's Thunderpick World Championship in Malta.
Aurora Gaming return as defending champions. They won the first edition in 2025, beating Legacy 3-2 on 1 November. It had the same $1,250,000 pool but was A-Tier; this year's is S-Tier.
Prize pool: $1,250,000, split two ways
PGL's event page gives $1,250,000 split into two equal halves: $625,000 of "prize money" for players and $625,000 of "club reward" for organisations. Both halves use the same table, so each placement is paid twice:
- 1st — $225,000 players plus $225,000 club
- 2nd — $100,000 plus $100,000
- 3rd — $68,750 plus $68,750
- 4th — $43,750 plus $43,750
- 5th–8th — $25,000 plus $25,000
- 9th–11th — $15,625 plus $15,625
- 12th–14th — $9,375 plus $9,375
- 15th–16th — $6,250 plus $6,250
The winning side is therefore worth $450,000. Liquipedia's community table splits the same $1,250,000 differently, giving $400,000 for first, so the two breakdowns do not reconcile; the figures above are PGL's own.
Why this one matters more than the prize money
Every one of the 32 invitations to the PGL Major Singapore 2026 is drawn from a single Valve Regional Standings snapshot published on Monday 2 November. Bucharest finishes on 31 October, about 48 hours earlier.
IEM Beijing begins on 2 November itself, so nothing there can move a team's standing in time. That leaves Thunderpick and Bucharest as the last two S-Tier events that can still change who goes to Singapore — and Bucharest is the bigger of the two: $1,250,000 and 16 teams against $1,000,000 and eight. The rest of the calendar is in our remaining CS2 tournaments guide.
The main English broadcast runs on PGL's Twitch, YouTube, Kick and Facebook channels, with a second English stream on pgl_cs2 and a Ukrainian one from cs2_maincast.
