One of the most common gearing questions on r/Aion2 right now is about weapons. One player asked on 24 October whether crafting is the only real option "since Fire Temple weapon is said to suck and not worth 84 runs." Within hours the thread had players arguing that the Kromede weapon is a trap and others arguing it's the best value in the game.
They're both partly right. AION 2 has four weapon paths at level 45, and the right one depends on three things: whether you're melee or ranged, whether you mostly PvP or PvE, and how much Kina you can spend. This guide compares all four using global client item data, works out the real cost of each in claims, Odyle Energy and Kina, and gives a clear pick for each type of player.
It applies to the AION 2 global PC build as of 25 October 2026, before the Ludra raid returns on 4 November. NC hasn't published drop rates or stat tables in English, so item stats below come from datamined global client data published by aion2guidance.com, metabot.gg and raidrelay.com. Player opinions are labeled as such.
Quick answer: For most players the best AION 2 weapon right now is the crafted Dragon Lord weapon, because it rolls 5 Soul Binding lines and upgrades in place all the way to item level 102. The Enraged Kromede weapon from Fire Temple Conquest (item level 86, gate 2,100) is the best dropped weapon and the right pick for melee PvP players: it only rolls 3 lines, but adds +2 m of reach, which more than doubles a Gladiator's, Templar's, Assassin's or Chanter's range. Ranged classes get almost nothing from that reach (20 m to 22 m), so they should craft. The Aulamus weapon (Urugugu Canyon, item level 70, 4 lines) is a stepping stone, not an endgame weapon. Ludra's Blade of Extinction (item level 102, 3 lines, +2 m reach) arrives with the raid on 4 November behind a 2,800 item level gate.
What are the weapon options in AION 2?
Once you hit the level 45 cap, your weapon comes from one of four places. Every class has its own version of each weapon (a greatsword for Gladiators, a staff for Chanters and so on). The exact Attack numbers differ by weapon type, but the item level, line count, enhancement cap and reach rules of each source apply to every class. What changes between sources is how many random Soul Binding lines the weapon rolls, how far it can be enhanced, and whether it has extra reach.
| Weapon (greatsword name) | Where it comes from | Item level | Soul Binding lines | Max enhancement | Reach | Greatsword max Attack |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Aulamus | Urugugu Canyon Conquest (2-star) | 70 | 4 | +18 | Normal | 413 |
| Enraged Kromede | Fire Temple Conquest (3-star) | 86 | 3 | +20 | +2 m | 508 |
| Abyssal (raid drop) | Ludra raid | 86 | 4 | +20 | Normal | 508 |
| Crafted Dragon Lord line | Blacksmithing, upgraded tier by tier | 62 to 102 | 5 | +20 at top tier | Normal | Rises with tier |
| Ludra's Blade of Extinction | Ludra raid | 102 | 3 | +20 | +2 m | 604 |
Stats: global client data via aion2guidance.com's gear guide and metabot.gg's item database, checked 25 October 2026. Greatsword names and Attack values shown; other classes' weapons share the item level, line count, cap and reach but have their own Attack ranges. Caps above +15 come from Amplification.
Three things in that table decide the whole debate:
- Line count. Soul Binding lines are where the damage stats live. Going from 3 lines to 5 is two extra rolls at things like Weapon Damage Boost and Combat Speed.
- Item level. Each enhancement level and each item level adds to your gear score. That's the number that gates Fire Temple (2,100) and Ludra (2,800 Normal, 3,000 Hard).
- Reach. Only the three Kromede and Ludra "extendable" weapon lines have it. aion2guidance notes it isn't shown in every client's tooltip, so check the weapon's name.
Is the Enraged Kromede weapon good in AION 2?
Yes, for the right player. The Enraged Kromede weapon drops from Fire Temple Conquest, which the game gates at 2,100 item level (see our Expedition requirements guide). It's item level 86, so it's 16 item levels above Aulamus, and the greatsword version's Attack tops out at 508, the same as other item level 86 greatswords. raidrelay's client data puts the other classes' Enraged Kromede weapons between 265 and 530 Attack depending on type.
Its weakness is the line count. It rolls only 3 Soul Binding lines, against 4 on Aulamus and 5 on a crafted weapon. raidrelay.com's gear score guide sums it up bluntly:
"We strongly suggest crafting if you have alts or are dual-wielding credit cards. The Enraged Kromede weapon has only 3 Soul Binding lines, against 4 on the Aulamus weapon and 5 on a crafted one."
Its strength is the reach. An extendable weapon adds a flat 2 m. Here's what that does by class, from aion2guidance's class table:
| Class | Normal reach | With an extendable weapon |
|---|---|---|
| Gladiator | 1.5 m | 3.5 m (x2.3) |
| Templar | 1.3 m | 3.3 m (x2.5) |
| Assassin | 1 m | 3 m (x3.0) |
| Chanter | 1.3 m | 3.3 m (x2.5) |
| Ranger, Sorcerer, Spiritmaster, Cleric | 20 m | 22 m |
For a melee class, that's the difference between catching a target who's running and watching them get away. Players who PvP take it seriously. One r/Aion2 player replying to a "don't use Kromede" video put it this way: "Kromede weapon is a must if you are playing melee and want to PvP, 2m attack range is worth more than 2 more option line in the craft weapon." If you're a ranged class, the extra 2 m on top of 20 m does very little, and you're giving up two stat lines for it.
There's also a lower item level 43 Kromede weapon from Fire Temple Exploration. It's a leveling item with 3 lines and a +15 cap. Don't confuse it with Enraged Kromede.
How many Fire Temple runs does a Kromede weapon take?
This is where the "84 runs" number comes from. raidrelay.com's Fire Temple guide says each Conquest claim costs 40 Odyle Energy, pays 400,000 Kina if your party kills all three bosses, and fills a Guaranteed Reward every 28 claims. On the global build the Guaranteed Reward never offers the weapon itself. It offers a Fire Temple voucher, and three vouchers plus a spare Enraged Kromede weapon of any class and 2,000,000 Kina make a Weapon Selection Chest where you pick your own class's weapon.
So 84 claims gets you the three vouchers, not a guaranteed weapon on its own. You still need one Enraged Kromede weapon to drop, for any class. raidrelay's client data says about one claim in seven (14.3%) drops at least one Enraged Kromede piece, and works out a 99.7% chance of having your class's weapon by claim 84 if you keep the first one that drops. Here's what the voucher route costs:
| Vouchers | Claims | Odyle Energy (40 per claim) | Kina earned (400k per full claim) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 28 | 1,120 | 11.2 million |
| 2 | 56 | 2,240 | 22.4 million |
| 3 | 84 | 3,360 | 33.6 million |
That's the same 3,360 energy figure one r/Aion2 player quoted in a "Pity Kromede or craft?" thread. Odyle Energy refills at about 15 every 3 hours and caps at 560 (840 with Membership), according to community data, so 84 claims is weeks of energy for most players. Plenty of players get their own class's weapon as a regular drop well before the third voucher. NC hasn't published drop rates, so the 14.3% and 99.7% figures are client-data estimates, not promises.
Two things make this cheaper than it looks:
- The Kina pays you back. 84 full-clear claims earn about 33.6 million Kina, which is more than enough to take the weapon to +15. For the Kina side, see our AION 2 Kina farming guide.
- Fire Temple also drops your accessories. If you're crafting your weapon anyway, raidrelay's advice is to pick earrings or rings at each Guaranteed Reward instead, since you wear two of each.
Good to know: the Odyle Energy Boost event from 28 October mails two bonus Odyle Energy items per character per day until 10 November (PST) / 11 November (CET). If you're going to farm Fire Temple, that's the window to do it. Our Ludra raid guide has the full event schedule.
Is the Aulamus weapon better than Kromede?
Not in the long run, but it isn't as clear-cut as item level suggests. Aulamus weapons drop from Urugugu Canyon Conquest, the 2-star Expedition gated at 1,400 item level. Each claim costs the same 40 Odyle Energy, pays 300,000 Kina, and fills a Guaranteed Reward every 21 claims, per raidrelay. That's why players in the 24 October thread compare "42 runs against 84": two Urugugu guarantees against three Fire Temple ones.
Aulamus has 4 lines, one more than Kromede, but a lower item level (70 vs 86), lower Attack (413 vs 508 on the greatswords), a lower max enhancement (+18 vs +20) and no extra reach. A well-rolled Aulamus with three good damage lines can keep up with a badly-rolled Kromede for a while, which is why some players don't bother farming Fire Temple for the weapon. One player in the same thread said: "If you have a 70 weapon (especially well rolled) you don't have to focus FT unless you want extendable." Another replied that people who say Aulamus beats Kromede "completely overlook the cost of rerolling lines."
Our take: Aulamus is the weapon you use while you get to 2,100 and while you save for a craft. Don't spend past +15 on it.
Is crafting a weapon worth it in AION 2?
For most PvE players, yes. The crafted weapon is the only one with 5 Soul Binding lines, and it's the only one you don't have to replace before the current item level 102 cap. Each tier of the Dragon Lord chain is crafted from the previous one, so your enhancement and lines carry forward. Per metabot.gg's gear progression guide, the weapon chain runs:
| Tier (Elyos name / Asmodian name) | Normal craft | "Splendent" great success |
|---|---|---|
| True / Star Dragon Lord | Item level 62 | Item level 70 |
| White / Dark Dragon Lord | Item level 78 | Item level 86 |
| Wise / Ebony Dragon Lord | Item level 94 | Item level 102 |
Every gear recipe in the chain has a 25% chance to give the Splendent version, which is a full tier higher. A miss isn't the end: metabot reports upgrade recipes that turn a regular Dragon Lord piece into its Splendent version using extra materials such as Wrathful Mind.
The downside is cost. aion2guidance puts leveling the Blacksmithing profession at about 2 million Kina, plus the gold materials for each tier, and crafts can fail. Market prices for the key materials swing hard by server: one r/Aion2 post this weekend said Wrathful Mind had doubled in price on their server. That's why the popular "don't use crafted items yet" video advice was really about timing, not about crafted weapons being bad. If you're short on Kina, farm a Kromede first and craft later. Our AION 2 crafting guide covers professions and mastery.
Can you transfer a Kromede weapon into a crafted one?
Yes, with limits. The in-game Transfer feature moves a weapon's Enhancement, Amplification and Soul Binding onto a new weapon, using a Transfer Stone, and consumes the old one. It doesn't move Manastones, Theostones or Potential. Our gear transfer guide has the full rules.
Players report two catches that matter for weapon planning:
- Line counts follow the new weapon. Players report that transferring into an item with fewer lines only keeps that many (5 into 3 keeps 3), and transferring into an item with more lines rolls the extra line fresh. So perfect Kromede lines don't make the extra two crafted lines perfect too. Budget for rerolling them.
- Tier matters. Players on r/Aion2 report that an item level 86 Kromede can't be transferred into a crafted weapon until the crafted one reaches the Wise / Ebony tier, while an item level 70 Urugugu weapon can move into the White / Dark tier earlier. Treat this as player-reported. NC hasn't documented transfer eligibility in English.
That second point is why some players skip Kromede entirely if they're crafting: they keep an Aulamus or Urugugu weapon, enhance it, and transfer it into the White / Dark tier.
What about Ludra's Blade of Extinction?
Ludra's Blade of Extinction is the top extendable weapon: item level 102, base Attack 604 (greatsword), 3 lines, +2 m reach. It drops in the Ludra raid, which NC pulled from the launch build and is bringing back on 4 November 2026. In its 23 October announcement, NC said:
"Ludra will return to Atreia on November 4th with new mechanics for players to enjoy! Normal mode and hard mode will be immediately available for players who have reached 2,800 (normal mode) and 3,000 (hard mode) item level."
Two things to keep in mind. First, aion2guidance's client data lists it as a rare drop, about 0.6% per weapon, or a pick from a weapon selection chest. NC hasn't published the global loot table, and it says the raid is coming back with new mechanics, so that rate could change. Second, Ludra also drops item level 86 Abyssal weapons with 4 lines and no extra reach, which are a sidegrade to Kromede, not an upgrade.
Several players are planning to run Kromede now and move into a Ludra weapon later. One wrote that they'd "prob skip crafted if i get Ludra's." That's a reasonable plan for melee PvP mains. Just don't count on a 0.6% drop in your first week.
How much does it cost to enhance each weapon?
Enhancement cost depends only on item level, not on where the weapon came from. Every step up to +10 succeeds. After that, attempts can fail without destroying the item. You only lose the materials, and the chance goes up after every fail. Average costs from aion2guidance's client data:
| Item level | +0 to +10 | +10 to +15 (average) |
|---|---|---|
| 70 (Aulamus) | 632,050 Kina + 25,180 Enhance Stones | ~9.66 million Kina + ~105,672 Enhance Stones |
| 86 (Enraged Kromede) | 775,100 Kina + 30,920 Enhance Stones | ~11.85 million Kina + ~129,832 Enhance Stones |
| 102 (crafted / Ludra) | 920,400 Kina + 36,680 Enhance Stones | ~14.07 million Kina + ~153,970 Enhance Stones |
Going past +15 needs Amplify Stones on top. The rule of thumb from aion2guidance is a good one: take everything to +10, go to +15 only on gear you'll keep for a long time, and go past +15 only on your final weapon. Our enhancement guide covers success rates and pity.
Which Soul Binding lines should you roll on a weapon?
The weapon pool is the same across sources. Only the line count and roll ranges change. On an item level 86 weapon, aion2guidance lists these roll ranges for the most-wanted lines:
| Line | Range at item level 86 |
|---|---|
| Combat Speed | 10.6% to 12.3% |
| Weapon Damage Boost | 7.9% to 9.1% |
| Multi-Hit Chance | 7.9% to 9.1% |
| Damage Boost | 6.0% to 6.9% |
Players generally treat Weapon Damage Boost, Damage Boost and Combat Speed as the top three, with Multi-Hit Chance close behind. That's also why the 3-line Kromede isn't as weak as it sounds for some players: if all three lines hit the top three stats, there's nothing else it "should" have rolled. One player in the same thread argued exactly that: "u can have weapon dmg, dmg and combat speed on fire temple plus its extendable." The catch is getting all three, which means paying for rerolls.
For priorities by class, see our AION 2 Combat Power guide, which explains why gear score alone doesn't tell you how much damage you'll do.
So which weapon should you get?
| You are... | Get this | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A melee class who mostly PvPs | Enraged Kromede, then Ludra's Blade if it drops | +2 m reach more than doubles your range |
| A ranged class (Ranger, Sorcerer, Spiritmaster, Cleric) | Crafted Dragon Lord | Reach adds only 2 m to 20 m. Take the 5 lines |
| A melee PvE player with Kina to spend | Crafted Dragon Lord | 5 lines, never replaced, upgrades to 102 |
| A melee PvE player short on Kina | Enraged Kromede now, craft later | Fire Temple claims pay ~400k Kina each |
| Still under 2,100 item level | Aulamus to +10 or +15 | Gets you to the Fire Temple gate |
| Playing several alts | Crafted on your main | Alts can farm crafting materials, and raidrelay recommends crafting if you run alts |
If you're still under 2,100, the weapon isn't your bottleneck yet. Item level is. Our AION 2 Transcendence guide covers the Arcana cards that close that gap fastest.

FAQ
What is the best weapon in AION 2? For most players it's the crafted Dragon Lord weapon, because it's the only one with 5 Soul Binding lines and it upgrades in place to item level 102, the current cap. Melee PvP players are the exception: the Enraged Kromede weapon from Fire Temple, and later Ludra's Blade of Extinction, add 2 m of reach that more than doubles melee range.
Is the Kromede weapon worth it in AION 2? For melee classes who PvP, yes. For ranged classes, usually not, because the extra 2 m only takes you from 20 m to 22 m and you give up two stat lines compared with a crafted weapon. Fire Temple claims also pay about 400,000 Kina each when your party kills all three bosses, so farming it isn't wasted even if the weapon doesn't drop.
How many runs does it take to get a Kromede weapon? Fire Temple Conquest fills a Guaranteed Reward every 28 claims. The Guaranteed Reward gives a Fire Temple voucher, not the weapon. Three vouchers (84 claims, 3,360 Odyle Energy), a spare Enraged Kromede weapon of any class and 2 million Kina make a Weapon Selection Chest. raidrelay's client data puts the chance of having your class's weapon by claim 84 at about 99.7%, and many players get it as a normal drop earlier. NC hasn't published the drop rate.
Is Aulamus better than Kromede? Aulamus has one more Soul Binding line (4 vs 3), but it's item level 70 against 86, has lower base Attack, caps at +18 instead of +20 and has no extra reach. A well-rolled Aulamus is fine while you work toward the 2,100 gate, but Kromede or a crafted weapon replaces it.
Can ranged classes use extendable weapons? They can, but the gain is small. An extendable weapon adds a flat 2 m, so a ranged class goes from 20 m to 22 m. Ranged players are better off with the 5 lines on a crafted weapon.
Do Ludra weapons come back on November 4? Yes. NC says the Ludra raid returns on 4 November 2026 with new mechanics, with Normal mode at 2,800 item level and Hard mode at 3,000. Client data lists Ludra's Blade of Extinction at item level 102 with 3 lines and +2 m reach, but NC hasn't published the global loot table.
The bottom line
The "Kromede vs crafted" argument is really "reach vs lines." If you play a melee class and fight other players, the Enraged Kromede weapon is worth the Fire Temple grind, and 84 full claims pay about 33.6 million Kina, more than it costs to take it to +15. If you're ranged, or you mostly do PvE, put that energy into Fire Temple accessories and craft your weapon. Either way, use the 28 October Odyle Energy Boost: it's the cheapest Fire Temple farming you'll get before Ludra opens on 4 November. We'll update this guide once the global Ludra loot table is confirmed.
