If your gear score has stalled and party leaders keep asking for more Combat Power than you have, enhancement is the lever you pull next. It is also where most of your Kina goes after level 45. This guide covers how enhancement works on the AION 2 global build as of 21 October 2026, Season 1: the safe band, the exact odds from +11 to +15, how the pity bonus works, what Amplify does after +15, where Enhance Stones come from, and which pieces deserve your Kina first.
Quick answer: In AION 2, every enhancement attempt succeeds up to +5 on Common and Rare, +10 on Epic, and +10 on Unique gear. Unique gear can then go to +15, but each step is a roll: 65%, 50%, 35%, 25% and 20%. Every failure adds +5 percentage points to your next try at that same level, and a failure never destroys the item or lowers its level (the Clash Rune is the one exception). After +15, some Unique gear can go up to five more levels with Amplify Stones. Each attempt costs Kina plus Enhance Stones, and both scale with item level.
Where the numbers come from: NCSOFT has not published an enhancement rate table in English. The game itself shows the success chance on the Enhance screen before you click, and the rates below come from the global client data read by MetaBot.gg, cross-checked against the Fextralife AION 2 wiki and Metaroad. Kina costs are MetaBot's client-data figures. Where a number comes from players and not the client, we say so. NC's official update notes are the place to check if any of this changes.
How does enhancement work in AION 2?
Open the menu and pick Enhance All. That screen lists every piece you have equipped plus anything in your cube, along with your enhancement materials. Pick a piece, check the success chance and the Kina cost on the button, and press Enhance.
Every attempt costs two things:
- Kina, shown on the Enhance button.
- Enhance Stones, shown under Enhance Materials.
A few slots need their own scroll on top of that, one per attempt: the Noble Belt, the Revelation Amulet, the Fierce Battle Amulet and the Clash Rune each have a matching Enhance Scroll.
The same screen holds the other tabs you will use later, Manastone, Theostone and Soul Binding. Those are separate systems. Enhancement only raises the +N on the piece, and each level adds to that piece's item level, which feeds your total gear score.
One detail that changes how you plan: according to MetaBot's read of the client, item level changes the price of an attempt, not the odds. A +12 roll on an item level 36 sword has the same 50% chance as a +12 roll on a raid weapon. It just costs far less.
What are the enhancement rates in AION 2?
How high a piece can go depends on its grade. Here is the global-build table:
| Grade | Max enhance | Success chance | On failure |
|---|---|---|---|
| Common | +5 | 100% every step | n/a |
| Rare | +5 | 100% every step | n/a |
| Epic | +10 | 100% every step | n/a |
| Unique | +15 | 100% to +10, then 65 / 50 / 35 / 25 / 20% | Lose materials, +5% to next try, level never drops |
| Clash Rune | +10 | 100% for +1, then 80% down to 10% | Level drops by 1, no pity |
Two things stand out. First, Epic gear never rolls at all. Taking an Epic piece to +10 is a straight purchase. Second, belts and amulets stop at +10 whatever their grade, so the +11 to +15 band only applies to weapons, guards, armor and regular accessories.
The Fextralife AION 2 wiki puts the whole system in one line: "a failure never lowers the Enhance level." That is the main reason AION 2 enhancement feels gentler than most Korean MMOs. You cannot burn a +14 weapon back to +12 or break it.
How does the AION 2 pity system work?
Each failed attempt on a Unique piece adds +5 percentage points to the next attempt at the same level, according to MetaBot's read of the global client. Once you succeed, the next level starts back at its base rate. MetaBot calculates the expected number of attempts and the hard cap that pity creates on each step, using item level 102 costs:
| Step | Base rate | Avg. attempts | Max attempts | Cost per attempt (ilvl 102) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| +10 to +11 | 65% | 1.49 | 8 | 360,000 Kina + 9,310 stones |
| +11 to +12 | 50% | 1.86 | 11 | 540,000 Kina + 10,610 stones |
| +12 to +13 | 35% | 2.44 | 14 | 860,000 Kina + 11,960 stones |
| +13 to +14 | 25% | 3.03 | 16 | 1,340,000 Kina + 13,360 stones |
| +14 to +15 | 20% | 3.42 | 17 | 1,860,000 Kina + 14,820 stones |
So the five risky steps average about 12 attempts in total, on top of the 10 guaranteed ones. That is an expected value, not a budget: each step costs more than the last, and a bad run takes longer. Pity does cap the worst case, though: no step can take more than 17 tries.
MetaBot's practical advice follows from that: don't swap targets mid-step, because the pity bonus is tied to the level you are failing on. If you have three failures behind you on your weapon's +13 roll, the fastest way to cash in that bonus is to keep going on that weapon until it lands.
How much does it cost to enhance to +15 in AION 2?
From +0 to +10 the price is fixed. From +10 to +15 it is an average, because you are paying for rolls. MetaBot's calculated totals from the client data:
| Item level | Example | +0 to +10 (fixed) | +0 to +15 (average) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 36 | Wisdom Greatsword | 325,400 Kina, 12,960 stones | ~5.3M Kina, ~67,300 stones |
| 70 | Aulamus Greatsword | 632,050 Kina, 25,180 stones | ~10.3M Kina, ~130,900 stones |
| 86 | Enraged Kromede Claymore | 775,100 Kina, 30,920 stones | ~12.6M Kina, ~160,800 stones |
| 102 | Ludra's Blade of Extinction | 920,400 Kina, 36,680 stones | ~15.0M Kina, ~190,700 stones |
Look at the gap between the two columns. On top-tier gear, +10 costs under a million Kina; +15 costs about 15 million. The last two steps alone cost more than the first thirteen combined. That is why the most useful sentence in this guide is the boring one: take anything you plan to keep to +10, then stop and think.
Before you start a +10 to +15 push on a Unique piece, MetaBot suggests holding roughly 12 attempts' worth of Kina and stones, the average, not the maximum. Running dry halfway through leaves a half-finished weapon while you farm. Our Kina farming guide covers the fastest routes to refill.
What is Amplify (Amplified Enhancement) in AION 2?
Amplify is the second track, and it only opens when a piece is at its maximum enhancement and at Unique grade. It adds up to five more levels using Amplify Stones and Kina. On r/Aion2 you will see it written as "+15 amp2". MetaBot's client figures:
| Amplify step | Rate | Pity per fail | Cost per attempt |
|---|---|---|---|
| +1 | 66% | +5% | 600,000 Kina + 6 Amplify Stones |
| +2 | 50% | +4% | 900,000 Kina + 9 Amplify Stones |
| +3 | 33% | +3% | 1,400,000 Kina + 12 Amplify Stones |
| +4 | 25% | +2% | 2,000,000 Kina + 15 Amplify Stones |
| +5 | 20% | +1% | 3,000,000 Kina + 20 Amplify Stones |
Going all the way to Amplify +5 averages about 13.8 attempts, 26.2M Kina and 196 Amplify Stones, per MetaBot. The pity shrinks as you climb, so the final step is the real wall.
Not every Unique piece gets all five stages. MetaBot reports that the Amplify cap follows item level: item level 36 to 51 gets none, around 54 to 62 gets +1, 70 and 78 get +3, and 86 and up get +5. Crafted "Splendent" pieces get fewer stages than non-Splendent gear at the same item level. Check a piece's Amplify cap before you farm stones for it.
Amplify Stones are not dropped whole. Guides report you make them by Substance Morphing Amplify Stone Fragments together with Enhance Stones, so plan for Amplify to eat into your Enhance Stone supply too. Check the Substance Morph recipe in your own client before you farm.
Where do you get Enhance Stones in AION 2?
Enhance Stones are a common, bound material. They cannot be crafted, and the Fextralife Enhance Stone page lists these sources on the global build:
- Quests: the main story, side quests and the long list of Wanted bounties all pay stones.
- Dungeons: Krao Cave, Urugugu Canyon, Fire Temple, Draupnir, Vakron Sky Island and Ferocious Horn Den (Exploration and Conquest), plus the Transcendence dungeons Deus Research Base and Shattered Arkanis.
- Field events: Jump Jump, Wraith Evasion, Hidden Lugi, Odyle Flight Frenzy, Goldrin's Treasure, Defend Shugo Merchants and more.
- Chests and bundles: Enhance Stone Chests and the Lesser, Intermediate and Superior Rift Bundles.
- Account systems: achievements, collections, attendance, the Daeva Pass and Material Conversion.
The steadiest source after level 45 is your daily and weekly dungeon loop. Our Expedition requirements guide shows which star tier you can enter at your gear score, and our Transcendence guide covers the reward counts.
One more free source most new players miss: extracting an enhanced piece refunds its Enhance Stones. You get the stones back, but not the Kina, Manastones or Theostones you spent. So when you replace a +10 armor piece, extract it rather than leaving it in your cube.
Also note that Burning Odyle is not an enhancement material, despite the name. MetaBot confirms it belongs to the gathering skill and appears in no enhancement curve.
What should you enhance first in AION 2?
Your Kina is limited, especially if you play without the $15/month Membership and can't use the Market. Spend it in this order:
- Revelation Amulet and Noble Belt first. You keep these two for the whole game and upgrade them in place. The Fextralife wiki recommends taking the Rare version to +10, Substance Morphing it into the Epic version at +0, taking that to +10, then repeating once more for the Unique version.
- Your weapon second. It carries your Attack gain and your Theostone slot. On Ludra's Blade of Extinction, +15 adds +174 to both minimum and maximum Attack on a base of 446 to 604, per MetaBot.
- Everything else last, and only to +10. Armor and accessories get replaced often in Season 1. Take them through the guaranteed band and stop.
The exception to rule 3 is Gear Transfer. Once you are level 45, Transfer can move a piece's Enhancement, Amplify and Soul Binding onto a better piece of the same character. That makes deep investment in a Unique piece less risky, but read our Gear Transfer guide first, because the rules on what carries over catch a lot of players.
Why does your gear score still lag after enhancing?
Enhancement raises item level, and item level is what Expedition and Transcendence gates check. But party leaders in r/Aion2 are now filtering by Combat Power too, often asking for 100k CP for Fire Temple and Ferocious Horn Den, according to a 21 October r/Aion2 thread on gatekeeping. One reply summed up the party leader's side bluntly: "It's a time thing. I won't waste your time, don't waste mine."
That's why a +15 weapon with empty Manastone slots can still lose to a +10 set with good Soul Binding lines. Our Combat Power explainer breaks down how CP and gear score differ, and the Stigma guide covers the skill side.
What are the most common AION 2 enhancement mistakes?
- Rolling +11 to +15 on a piece you will replace next week. Transfer needs both pieces soul-bound to the same character and uses up the old piece, so it is not a free undo. On short-term gear, stop at +10.
- Spreading attempts across several pieces. Pity builds per piece and per level, so splitting your stones leaves several half-finished pushes and no finished one.
- Farming Amplify Stones for a piece with no Amplify track. Item level 36 to 51 Unique gear stops at +15.
- Selling or deleting enhanced gear. You can't sell gear to NPC vendors anyway. Extract it to get the stones back.
- Treating the Clash Rune like normal gear. It is the only piece that drops a level on failure and has no pity. Push it last.

FAQ
What is the enhancement success rate in AION 2? Common and Rare gear always succeeds to +5, and Epic and Unique gear always succeeds to +10. Unique gear then rolls 65%, 50%, 35%, 25% and 20% for +11 through +15 on the global build as of October 2026. Each failure adds 5 percentage points to the next attempt at the same level.
Can gear break or lose levels when enhancing in AION 2? No, not weapons, guards, armor or regular accessories. A failed attempt only costs the Kina and Enhance Stones. The Clash Rune is the exception: it drops one level on a failed attempt.
How do I get more Enhance Stones in AION 2? Run your daily and weekly dungeons, finish Wanted bounties and field events, open Rift Bundles, and claim achievement, attendance and Daeva Pass rewards. Extracting an old enhanced piece also refunds the stones you put into it.
Is it worth enhancing gear past +10 in AION 2? Only on pieces you will keep: your weapon, and gear you plan to carry over with Gear Transfer. On item level 102 gear, +10 costs under 1M Kina while +15 averages about 15M, according to MetaBot's client figures.
What does Amplify do in AION 2? It lets Unique gear that is already at +15 go up to five more levels with Amplify Stones and Kina. The odds run from 66% down to 20%, with pity that shrinks from 5% to 1% per failure. Lower item level gear gets fewer stages or none.
Does enhancement carry over to new gear in AION 2? Yes, through Gear Transfer at level 45. It moves Enhancement, Amplify and Soul Binding to a better piece soul-bound to the same character. Manastones, Theostones and Potential do not move.
The bottom line
AION 2 enhancement is forgiving where it counts: regular gear never breaks or drops a level, and Epic and Unique gear is guaranteed to +10 (Common and Rare stop at +5, and the Clash Rune is the one piece that can lose levels). The real cost sits in the +11 to +15 rolls and in Amplify, where one top-tier weapon can eat tens of millions of Kina. Take every Epic or Unique piece you keep to +10, push your amulet, belt and weapon first, finish one risky step before starting another, and check the Amplify cap before you farm for it. NC can retune these numbers in any patch, so always trust the success chance on your own Enhance screen over any guide, this one included. We will update this page when the rates change.
