AION 2 Kina Farming Guide (2026): How to Farm Kina Fast After Launch

AION 2 went live worldwide on October 5, 2026, and within the first day the single most-asked question on r/Aion2 was not "which class?" — it was some version of "how do I actually get Kina, and why does half of it say I can't trade it?" This guide answers that, using what NC has actually confirmed about the AION 2 economy plus what players are reporting from the live servers, and it flags clearly where a number is unverified rather than inventing one.

Quick answer: AION 2 has two kinds of Kina — Bound Kina, which you earn from quests, Duties and dungeons and can only spend on your own character's progression, and Unbound (tradeable) Kina, the version that moves on the Market and through the Kina↔Quna Exchange. You farm Bound Kina by clearing your limited daily/weekly sources first (Duties, Expeditions, sealed dungeons), then open-world grinding; you build Unbound Kina mainly by selling materials and gear on the Market, which requires the $15/month Membership. Free players can earn and spend Bound Kina all day, but the tradeable economy sits behind that subscription.

A quick spelling note before anything else: the official AION 2 currency is Kina. You will constantly see it written "Kinah" — that is the spelling from the original Aion (2008), and it is what most people type into Google, so we use both here. They mean the same currency in the context of AION 2.

The one thing that changes how you farm: Bound vs Unbound Kina

Everything about farming Kina in AION 2 depends on which type an activity pays you, so understand this split before you pick a farm.

  • Bound Kina is soulbound to your character. You earn it from the activities you do anyway — the main campaign, side quests, Duties, dungeon clears and progression content. You can spend it on your own gear enhancement, consumables and upgrades, but you cannot trade it, mail it to an alt, or list items bought with it on the Market. As one player put it bluntly in the launch-day threads, "market doesn't help you with BOUND kina."
  • Unbound (tradeable) Kina is the version that powers the player economy. It is what changes hands on the Market (AION 2's auction house) and what you receive when you convert premium Quna into Kina through the Kina↔Quna Exchange. If you want to buy gear or mats from other players, this is the Kina you need.

Why does this matter for farming? Because two activities can both say "Kina" and be worth very different things. A reward that pays Bound Kina covers the friction of playing — your own repair, enhancement and consumable bills. A reward you can turn into Unbound Kina (by selling the item it drops on the Market) is what actually makes you "rich" in the tradeable economy. When you compare two farms, the one that feeds the Market is almost always the more valuable one, even if the raw number looks similar. Before you commit time to any activity, check whether its payout is Bound or Unbound. That single habit is the difference between a wasted grind and real income.

The Membership gate — the most important economic fact in AION 2

Here is the part NC confirmed in its official "Business Model — Our Approach" notice (July 8, 2026) and the part that reshapes every farming plan: the Market and the Kina↔Quna Exchange are locked behind the optional $15/month Membership.

NC's own wording is that Membership "unlocks the Market and the Kina↔Quna Exchange, plus additional gameplay benefits for members." MMORPG.com's read of the same notice is blunter: for a free player, "the only Kina you will ever hold is what drips in naturally from leveling, dungeons, etc. … Selling your loot to other players to build up a reserve is simply off the table."

So the practical reality on live servers is:

  • Free-to-play players can farm and spend Bound Kina freely — enhancement, potions, your own progression. That is a complete, playable loop.
  • The tradeable (Unbound) economy — listing on the Market, buying from other players, converting Quna to Kina — requires Membership. NC has also confirmed that direct player-to-player trades are disabled as an anti-bot measure, so the Market is the trading hub; there is no face-to-face trade-window workaround.

If your goal is to build a Kina war-chest to buy gear from other players, Membership is effectively the price of entry. If you just want to fund your own character, you can ignore it. Decide which player you are before you plan a single farm — our AION 2 Membership breakdown walks through whether the sub is worth it for your playstyle.

How to farm Bound Kina (the free, always-available loop)

Bound Kina is the income every player can earn, and the efficient approach is the same principle veteran MMO players already know: clear your capped, guaranteed sources first, then fill the rest of your time with open-world farming. A limited daily reward you skip is gone forever; open-world mobs are always there.

Players on the live servers consistently point to the same pillars for Bound Kina:

  • Duties / Duty Missions. These are daily, capped, and among the steadiest Bound-Kina payouts once you hit the mid-40s. Clear them every day you log in. (A workaround note worth knowing from NC's own Known Issues post: opening the Duty tab on the Map before level 45 can delay Duties unlocking until the next day — don't open it early.)
  • Expedition and group dungeons. These pay Kina on top of gear and upgrade materials, which makes them double-valuable — the Kina funds your character and the drops can feed the Market later.
  • Sealed dungeons in the Spacetime Rift and story/campaign quests, which one launch-day player listed as their go-to: "sealed dungeon in spacetime rift, duty quest, or from alts."
  • Open-world mob farming to fill the gaps after your limited sources are done.

A widely reported wrinkle to plan around: farming and gathering have anti-bot gating. In the Korean/Taiwanese build, gathering activities were restricted to level 45 after anti-bot measures were strengthened, and NC has made clear it runs a zero-tolerance line on bots and RMT for the global launch too. Expect similar friction, and expect bot-heavy open-world spots to be unreliable.

⚠️ On specific numbers: you will find guides quoting exact figures — "X Kina per Duty," "Y million per hour from a Fire Temple alt." NC has not published Kina payout rates for the global build, and most of those figures come from Korean-build data or seller blogs. Treat any per-hour or per-activity Kina number you see (including ours, if we ever quote one) as a community estimate from a different build, not a confirmed global rate. The structure above is reliable; the exact rates are not, until the global economy settles.

How to build Unbound (tradeable) Kina — the Market game

If you have Membership, this is where real wealth is made. The core strategy is simple to state and hard to master: sell what other players need to buy.

  • Sell crafting materials and gear on the Market. MMORPG.com reports that in AION 2, crafted gear generally outperforms dungeon drops and is tradeable — which means mats and crafted items have genuine demand. Materials you pick up while doing your Bound-Kina loop become Unbound Kina the moment they sell.
  • Don't vendor what the Market wants. New players reflexively sell everything to an NPC for a trickle of Bound Kina. Check the Market price first; the same stack of mats can be worth far more to another player.
  • The Kina↔Quna Exchange lets you convert premium currency (Quna) into Unbound Kina. This is a first-party, WoW-token-style system — and it is also the single biggest reason you should never buy Kina from a third-party seller (more on that below).

One honest limitation for launch: there is no reliable global Kina↔Quna exchange-rate tracker yet. As players noted on r/Aion2, "the whole economy is player-driven. Each region will be different. There's only sites that show KR ones." Prices will swing hard in the first weeks as servers find equilibrium, so watch your own server's Market rather than trusting any published "global rate."

Should you use alts to farm Kina?

The community's early consensus is yes — alts are a real multiplier, because much of AION 2's income is per-character and capped. If one character can only clear so many Duties and Expeditions per day, a second and third character multiply those guaranteed sources. One player's farming list literally ended with "or from alts."

But weigh the real cost before you build a stable of them:

  • Daeva Passes (battle passes) are sold per character. As MMORPG.com put it, that is "a structure that inflates the bill for anyone maintaining a roster of alts." The convenience of alt farming is partly paid back in pass costs if you want each alt fully optimized.
  • Accounts reportedly start with around four character slots, expandable per server — NC announced the slot structure at the August 7 global-release livestream, though the exact expansion terms aren't cleanly confirmed, so treat the 4→8 figure as reported rather than final.
  • Leveling an alt to the point where it earns meaningful Kina still takes time. Our AION 2 leveling guide covers the fastest route to get a farming alt productive.

The RMT trap: why "cheap AION 2 kinah" is a bad idea

Search "AION 2 Kina" and you'll hit a wall of sites selling it. Skip them, for concrete reasons, not just principle:

  • NC enforces a zero-tolerance line on RMT and botting, and the Korean launch had a visible bot problem that NC actioned. Buying Kina from a third party risks your account — a ban wipes everything you farmed legitimately.
  • It also risks your payment and personal data, since these sellers sit entirely outside NC's systems.
  • And it's unnecessary by design: NC built the Kina↔Quna Exchange precisely so you can convert real money into Kina inside the game, safely. The first-party system does the exact job the grey market claims to, without the account risk.

Launch-day threads already show players reporting bot-infested LFGs and gold-seller spam. The in-game economy is the safe lane; the grey market is not.

FAQ

What's the difference between Bound and Unbound Kina in AION 2? Bound Kina is soulbound to your character — you earn it from quests, Duties and dungeons and can only spend it on your own progression (enhancement, consumables, upgrades). Unbound (tradeable) Kina is the version that moves on the Market and through the Kina↔Quna Exchange. Free players can earn and spend Bound Kina freely; the tradeable economy requires Membership.

What is the fastest way to farm Kina in AION 2? Clear your limited guaranteed sources first — daily Duties, Expeditions and group dungeons, plus sealed dungeons in the Spacetime Rift — then use open-world mob farming to fill the remaining time. Those pay mostly Bound Kina. For tradeable (Unbound) Kina, sell materials and gear on the Market rather than vendoring them. NC has not published exact per-activity Kina rates for the global build, so ignore any "X per hour" figure stated as fact.

Do I need the $15 Membership to make Kina? No — free players can farm and spend Bound Kina for their own progression with no subscription. But the Market and the Kina↔Quna Exchange are Membership-gated, so building a tradeable Kina reserve and buying gear from other players effectively requires Membership. NC has also disabled direct player-to-player trades as an anti-bot measure, so the Market is the only trading hub.

Can I move Kina between my characters? You cannot move Bound Kina between characters — it is locked to whoever earned it. Tradeable Unbound Kina moves through the Market, which requires Membership, since direct player trades are disabled. This is why many players run alts: each character farms its own capped Bound-Kina sources independently.

Is it safe to buy Kina from a website? No. NC enforces a zero-tolerance policy on real-money trading and botting, and buying Kina from a third party can get your account banned and expose your payment details. NC's own Kina↔Quna Exchange lets you convert real money into Kina safely inside the game, which removes any reason to risk the grey market.

Why is some of my Kina "bound" and can't be used on the Market? Because that Kina came from a progression source (a quest, Duty or dungeon) that pays the Bound version by design. Bound Kina is intended for your own character's upgrades; only Unbound Kina works on the Market. The game also spends your Bound Kina first where it can, so your tradeable balance is whatever's left over.

AION 2's economy rewards players who understand the split: farm your capped Bound-Kina sources daily to fund your own character, and — if you're a Member — turn everything else into Unbound Kina on the Market. As the global servers settle and real rates emerge, we'll update this guide with confirmed numbers.
