Quick answer: AION 2 server transfers open after the maintenance on Tuesday, October 13 (PDT) / Wednesday, October 14, 2026 (CEST) and run for two weeks. The base transfer and the per-character cost are both 0 Quna — transfers are free during this window; you only pay 1,000 Quna per extra character slot if your destination server does not have room for everyone. Transfers are one per account, same faction and same region only, and Early Access characters can move only to other Early Access servers. Early Access servers transfer first (Oct 14–21), Launch servers second (Oct 21–28). This guide walks through every date, requirement and what carries over, all verified against NCSoft's official October 9 notices.

Stuck on a dead or over-queued server, or landed on one your friends didn't pick? This is the window to fix it — and NCSoft is not charging for the move. Below is the full roadmap: the exact dates per server type, the hour-by-hour regional windows, the eligibility checklist that blocks most failed attempts, and the complete list of what travels with your character (and the one thing that gets left behind).

Key takeaways

  • Transfers open October 14 (after the Oct 13 PDT / Oct 14 CEST maintenance) and the whole program ends before the October 28 maintenance.
  • It's free. Base cost 0 Quna, per-character cost 0 Quna. The only charge is 1,000 Quna per extra character slot if the destination can't hold all your characters.
  • One transfer per account for the entire period — one source server to one destination, so choose carefully.
  • Same faction, same region only. Early Access → Early Access only; EA characters cannot move to Launch servers.
  • Level 10+, in a village, no Legion, no active Duty, and a clean mailbox/Market are required or the transfer button stays greyed out.
  • Your Kina (in inventory and Character Storage), Quna, Mileage, Membership, Daeva Pass progress, skins and friends list all transfer. Server Storage does not — empty it first.

When do AION 2 server transfers open?

NCSoft confirmed the schedule in two official notices posted October 9, 2026 ("Server Transfer Products Info" and "Server Transfer Q&A" on the AION 2 Steam news feed). The program is split in two by server type:

PhaseServer typeTransfer window
Week 1Early Access serversAfter maintenance Oct 13 (PDT) / Oct 14 (CEST) → before maintenance Oct 20 (PDT) / Oct 21 (CEST)
Week 2Launch serversAfter maintenance Oct 20 (PDT) / Oct 21 (CEST) → before maintenance Oct 27 (PDT) / Oct 28 (CET)

In NCSoft's words: "During the first week, transfers are only available on Early Access servers; during the second week, transfers are only available on Launch servers." If you rolled your main on a Founder's Pack Early Access server, your move happens in week one. If you joined as a free-to-play player on a Launch server after October 5, your window is week two.

This confirms the two-week framing from the October 9 NA/EU developer livestream, with one correction worth stating plainly: the split is not "EA players week 1, F2P players week 2" by account type — it is by the server your character currently sits on.

Transfers run only during set hours each day

Transfers aren't available 24/7. NCSoft published per-region daily windows (all are PDT, with CEST/CET equivalents):

  • North America East & West: 09:00–13:00 and 15:00–19:00 PDT (18:00–22:00 and 00:00–04:00 next day CEST/CET).
  • South America: 09:00–13:00 and 15:00–19:00 PDT.
  • Europe: 03:00–07:00 and 09:00–13:00 PDT (12:00–16:00 and 18:00–22:00 CEST/CET).
  • Asia: 20:00–00:00 (next day) and 02:00–06:00 PDT (05:00–09:00 and 11:00–15:00 CEST/CET).

If the transfer UI tells you the service is unavailable, the most common reason is simply that you're outside your region's application hours, per NCSoft's own Q&A.

How much does an AION 2 server transfer cost?

Nothing, during this window — with one exception. From the official pricing table:

ChargeCostLimit
Base cost0 QunaOnce per account
Cost per character transferred0 QunaPer character
Additional character slot1,000 QunaPer slot needed on the destination

So the move itself is free no matter how many characters you bring. You only spend Quna if the destination server has fewer character slots than you're transferring into it. NCSoft's own example: "If you transfer 6 characters and only 4 character slots are available on the destination server, an additional 2,000 Quna will be required to expand the character slots."

That "free" label has a hard edge: transfers are limited to one per account for the entire period, and "transfers are only allowed from one server to another." You cannot hop twice, you cannot split your roster across two destinations, and once you've used your single transfer, you're done until NCSoft opens another window. Pick your destination like it's permanent — because for now, it is.

Can I transfer all my characters, or just one?

All of them. NCSoft is explicit: "There is no limit to the number of characters you can transfer per transfer." The catch is slots on the other side. If you have four characters on your current server and want to move all four, the destination needs four free slots. If it doesn't, you either expand slots (1,000 Quna each) or you leave characters behind — and remember, you only get one transfer, so a character left behind stays behind for this window.

One important nuance from the Q&A: expanded character slots do not travel with you. "Expanded character slots will remain on your current server. When you transfer, you will use the number of character slots available on the destination server." If you paid to open extra slots on your current home, you'll re-encounter the slot cap on the new server. (If you're weighing how many characters to keep active, our AION 2 character slots and alts guide breaks down the 4-to-8 slot structure.)

AION 2 server transfer requirements checklist

The transfer button only activates when your character clears every condition below. This is where most failed attempts come from:

  • Level 10 or higher. Characters below level 10 cannot transfer.
  • Standing in a village. You cannot apply from the Abyss, a Spacetime Rift, or a dungeon.
  • Not in a Legion and with no pending Legion membership application.
  • No active Duty on the character.
  • A completely clean account state. NCSoft blocks the transfer if you have any of: items listed for sale on the Market, items pending collection or unclaimed sale proceeds, unclaimed items in Shop Storage (including your Founder's Pack), or unclaimed mail in the transferring character's mailbox.

Clear your mailbox, collect your Market proceeds, and open your Founder's Pack chest before your application window, or you'll be bounced at the last step.

What transfers with my character (and what doesn't)?

Most of your progress travels. Here's the verified breakdown from NCSoft's Q&A:

Transfers with the character:

  • Kina held in the character's inventory and Character Storage.
  • Quna and Mileage — moved in full and added to whatever you already have on the destination.
  • Membership — transferred and combined with any Membership already on the destination server, then removed from the old server.
  • Daeva Pass — moves "with its current progress intact."
  • Character Storage and all items in it, including any additional storage slots you purchased.
  • Skins saved in My Appearances and your Download Library, plus styles registered in the Style Shop (though the style's displayed creator/server name won't update).
  • Friends and Blocked lists — retained, and your friends will see your new name automatically.
  • Special Pets and most Shop skins (duplicates convert to a Reward Ticket rather than stacking).

Does NOT transfer:

  • Server Storage. This is the big one. "Items stored in the Server Storage will not be transferred." Move anything you care about from Server Storage into the transferring character's inventory or Character Storage before you transfer, or it's stranded on the old server.
  • Expanded character slots (as covered above — the count resets to the destination's slots).
  • Your Kina in Server Storage — same trap; only inventory and Character Storage Kina move.

Your character name will change

Whether or not the name is taken on the destination, NCSoft resets every transferred character to "@TemporaryName" and prompts you to pick a new name on first login. The system is blunt about name conflicts: "If the same character name already exists on the destination server, you will not be able to use your previous character name." If your identity matters to you, line up a backup name — popular ones will already be claimed on busy servers.

Should you transfer? Who this window is actually for

A free, one-time transfer is worth using if any of these apply:

  • You're on a server your friends or Legion didn't pick. Cross-server grouping covers instanced dungeons, but faction content like the Abyss and Spacetime Rifts is tied to your server pairing, so sharing a home server still matters for guild-scale PvP. (If you're still deciding sides, see our Elyos or Asmodian guide.)
  • Your server is congested or queue-prone. NCSoft has been opening new, less-crowded servers through launch week — the EU servers Nathara (Elyos) and Tassin (Asmodian) opened October 8, for example. A quieter server means shorter queues and less competition for open-world nodes.
  • You rushed onto an Early Access server and want a more permanent home — just remember EA characters can only move to other EA servers this window, never to Launch servers.

It's not worth it if you're settled, your Legion is already with you, and your server is stable. The transfer is one-shot; don't spend it to chase a marginal population difference. Keep an eye on live population and status through our regularly updated AION 2 server list and the server status and connection error guide if you're troubleshooting which home server is actually healthy.

FAQ

When do AION 2 server transfers open? Transfers open after the maintenance on Tuesday, October 13 (PDT) / Wednesday, October 14, 2026 (CEST). Early Access servers can transfer from October 14 to October 21; Launch servers can transfer from October 21 to October 28. Transfers are only available during set daily hours that vary by region.

Are AION 2 server transfers free? Yes, during this window. NCSoft lists the base cost and the per-character cost both at 0 Quna. The only charge is 1,000 Quna per additional character slot, and only if your destination server does not have enough slots for all the characters you're transferring.

Can I transfer all my characters at once? Yes — there is no limit on how many characters you can move in a single transfer. However, the destination server must have enough free character slots, and each account gets only one transfer for the entire period, so you cannot split characters across multiple destinations.

Can an Early Access character transfer to a Launch server? No. Transfers from Early Access servers are only possible to other Early Access servers. Launch servers transfer among themselves during the second week. Transfers are also restricted to the same faction and the same region.

What happens to my Kina and items when I transfer? Kina in your character's inventory and Character Storage transfers, as do Quna, Mileage, your Membership, your Daeva Pass progress, saved skins and your friends list. Items in Server Storage do not transfer — move them to your inventory or Character Storage first, or they stay on the old server.

Will I keep my character name after transferring? Not automatically. Every transferred character is renamed to "@TemporaryName" and you choose a new name on first login. If your old name is already taken on the destination server, you cannot reuse it, so have a backup name ready.

Why is the server transfer button greyed out? The most common causes are being outside your region's daily application hours, being below level 10, standing somewhere other than a village, being in a Legion, having an active Duty, or having unclaimed mail, Market items or Shop Storage items (including an unopened Founder's Pack). Clear all of those and apply during your region's window.
