BO7 Hordepoint Launcher Challenge Not Tracking? The Real Requirement + Every Working Fix (Camo Costume Party)

Black Ops 7 The Haunting Season 6 zombie combat — operators fighting zombies on a snowy map

Black Ops 7's Camo Costume Party event (Season 06, The Haunting) is the fastest Universal-camo grind of the season — but one Multiplayer challenge is quietly tripping up r/blackops7: the Launchers & Specials challenge that lives in Hordepoint. The requirement is short, but three things confuse people at once — the mode is a hard-to-find limited-time playlist, kills in any other mode don't count, and there's a real event tracking bug. If your counter won't move, you're usually not doing it wrong — you're in the wrong mode, on the wrong weapon, or hitting the acknowledged bug.

This guide fixes all three: what the challenge actually asks for, exactly where Hordepoint is and how to queue it, the fastest weapons to clear it with, and every workaround for the "not tracking" problem — so you can bank the camo (and get one step closer to the hidden Oozed reward) before the event ends on October 8, 2026.

Quick answer (TL;DR): The Multiplayer "Launchers & Specials" challenge asks you to get 15 eliminations in Hordepoint with a Launcher or Special Weapon — that's 15 total kills, not 15 matches, and it's mode-locked to Hordepoint (kills in core Hardpoint, Nuketown, or any other playlist do not count). Both Launchers and Special Weapons qualify, so equip whichever you're comfortable with and play the objective, where enemies cluster. If the counter is stuck, it's the known Camo Costume Party tracking bug: hard-close and fully relaunch the game to re-sync, finish matches instead of backing out, and confirm you're actually in Hordepoint, which is an in-season limited-time mode that rotates in and out of the featured playlist row — if you can't see it, it's a rotation issue, not your account.

What is the Camo Costume Party event (and why the Launcher challenge is the sticking point)?

The Camo Costume Party is Season 06's headline camo event, running September 17 – October 8, 2026 in Black Ops 7 and Warzone. It's built around Weapon Class Camo Challenges spread across all four modes — Multiplayer, Zombies, Endgame, and Warzone — and the rewards stack:

  • Complete any nine challenges across the event → unlock the new Arcblade melee weapon.
  • Complete every challenge in a single mode → that mode's animated Mastery Camo + 10,000 XP.
  • Complete every challenge across all four modes → the hidden Oozed camo, the event's Dark-Matter-style ultimate reward.

Most of those challenges finish during normal play. Two do not: the Assault Rifle challenge sends you into T.E.D.D. Trials, and the Launcher / Special-weapon challenge sends you into Hordepoint. Those two playlist-specific legs are where nearly all the confusion lives, because both modes are limited-time and the challenge text doesn't spell out the real requirement.

What is Hordepoint, and how do I access it?

Hordepoint is a Season 06 Multiplayer limited-time mode — a Halloween twist on classic Hardpoint. Per the official Season 06 announcement, you "control the objective to turn the undead against your foes": zombies roam the map, and holding the point turns the horde on the enemy team. It's a normal 6v6-style objective mode with an added PvE layer.

The reason so many players "can't find Hordepoint":

  • It's an in-season LTM, not a launch playlist. Several The Haunting modes (Hordepoint, Freeze Tag, Moshpit) rolled out mid-season rather than on day one, so if you jumped in at launch it genuinely wasn't there yet.
  • LTMs rotate. If it's not currently in the featured playlist row, check back after the next playlist update — Treyarch swaps the limited-time modes in and out across the event.

To queue it: from the Multiplayer menu, open the Quick Play / Featured playlist row and look for Hordepoint in the limited-time section (it's grouped with the other The Haunting modes, not in core Hardpoint). If it isn't listed, you're not locked out of the camo — the challenge simply can't progress until the mode is back in rotation.

The real requirement: 15 eliminations in Hordepoint, not 15 matches

Here's the misread that's costing people time. The Multiplayer Launchers & Specials challenge reads: "Get 15 eliminations in Hordepoint with Launchers or Special Weapons." That's the whole requirement — 15 total kills, banked one at a time, all inside the Hordepoint mode.

"Launchers & Specials: Get 15 eliminations in Hordepoint with Launchers or Special Weapons." — BO7 Camo Costume Party, Multiplayer "Gray Matter" challenge set

Two things throw people off. First, players read "15" and assume it means 15 separate matches or some multi-step objective — it doesn't. It's fifteen eliminations, and a good Hordepoint match can bank most of them in one sitting. Second, the same challenge set for the other three modes uses very different numbers (the Endgame Launchers leg wants 50 airborne kills; Zombies wants 100 kills with a Legendary launcher; Warzone wants 5 kills while moving), so people cross-wire the requirements between modes. For the Multiplayer camo (Gray Matter), it's a flat 15 in Hordepoint — nothing more.

The fastest way to bank 15 Launcher/Special kills

  • Both weapon types count. The challenge says "Launchers or Special Weapons," so use whichever you're strongest with — a launcher for splash damage on the clustered objective, or a Special Weapon if you have one you like. You don't need a specific gun.
  • Play the objective, not the edges. Hordepoint funnels players (and zombies) onto the hill, so holding or contesting the point is where your Launcher/Special kills come quickest — splash damage does its best work on a crowded objective.
  • Do it in one continuous session. Kills commit most reliably when you finish matches instead of backing out mid-game (more on the tracking bug below).

Fix: Hordepoint challenge not tracking (counter stuck)

Even when you're doing it right, the counter can stall. This is a known issue — the official Call of Duty updates channel confirmed they're aware of Camo Costume Party challenge tracking problems and working on a fix. Until the server-side fix lands, these steps clear the vast majority of stuck cases:

  • Confirm you're actually in Hordepoint. Kills in core Hardpoint, Nuketown, or any other playlist do not count. The challenge is mode-locked to Hordepoint — this is the #1 false "bug."
  • Confirm you're using a Launcher or Special Weapon. The challenge counts eliminations with Launchers or designated Special Weapons — standard primaries and secondaries do not tick it. If nothing moves, check that the weapon in your hand is actually one of those two classes.
  • Hard-close and relaunch the game. A full quit (not Rest Mode, not Quick Resume) forces the client to re-sync challenge state with the servers — the single most effective fix for a frozen counter.
  • Don't back out mid-match. Leaving before the match ends can drop the kills you just earned before they're written to your profile. Finish the round.
  • Re-equip the weapon. Strip and re-apply your attachments, then re-select your Launcher or Special Weapon, before your next Hordepoint match to force the challenge to re-attach.
  • Grind in one session. Bank your eliminations back-to-back in continuous Hordepoint games rather than spreading them across days and updates.
  • If it's genuinely bugged, report it and wait for the patch. When the counter still won't move after a relaunch, it's the acknowledged server bug — file it via Activision Support and keep an eye on the next update. Your progress isn't lost; it typically reconciles once the fix ships.

If your camo trouble is the cross-mode kind — a challenge that won't complete because kills are split between titles/modes — that's a different bug with its own fixes: see BO7 & Warzone Camo Not Unlocking on a Maxed Weapon. And if a specific event camo like Abyssal or Revenant is the one stuck, we cover that in the BlackCell Revenant & Abyssal camo tracking fix.

The other playlist-locked leg: T.E.D.D. Trials (Assault Rifle)

While you're mode-hopping, knock out the other confusing Multiplayer challenge in the same trip. The Assault Rifle leg of the Multiplayer camo (Gray Matter) asks for 100 eliminations with Assault Rifles in T.E.D.D. Trials — the zombies-in-multiplayer mode where you clear the undead across the event's maps. It's a straight grind, so bring a fast-killing AR and stack the kills over a couple of runs.

Don't confuse it with the Zombies-mode shotgun challenge, which asks for 75 eliminations with Shotguns during a single T.E.D.D. Trial (a concentrated one-match run) — that one counts toward the Zombies mastery camo, not Multiplayer. Between Hordepoint (Launchers & Specials) and T.E.D.D. Trials (Assault Rifles), those are the two Multiplayer legs that won't tick from ordinary 6v6 play — the rest of the Multiplayer set completes across normal matches as you go.

How this ladders up to the Oozed camo

Every one of these class challenges is a step toward the event's real prize. Finish all nine and you bank the Arcblade; finish every challenge in one mode for that mode's animated Mastery Camo and 10,000 XP; finish everything across all four modes and you unlock Oozed, the hidden Dark-Matter-style camo that's the whole reason the sweatier grinders are pushing through the bugged legs. The Launcher leg is the one most people stall on — clear it, and the finish line is a lot closer.

If you'd rather not burn a weekend fighting a misworded objective and a server bug, a BO7 Mastery Camo Unlock service will run the event for you, and you can pair it with account & weapon leveling if you still need the Arcblade or the new guns leveled. This is BO7's last major camo drop before Modern Warfare 4 resets progression, so the "now or never" window is real.

For the wider season picture, the Season 6 new weapons unlock guide covers the Arcblade and the rest of the new arsenal, and the Endgame skill track fix sorts your Endgame leg if that's where you're stuck.

FAQ

Why is my BO7 Hordepoint launcher challenge not tracking? Almost always one of three things: you're not in the Hordepoint mode (kills in core Hardpoint or other playlists don't count), you're not using a Launcher or Special Weapon, or you've hit the known Camo Costume Party tracking bug. For the bug, hard-close and fully relaunch the game to re-sync challenge state, finish your matches instead of backing out, and confirm the mode and weapon class before you blame your account. Treyarch has acknowledged event challenge-tracking issues.

How many kills is the Camo Costume Party Launchers & Specials challenge? Fifteen. The Multiplayer camo (Gray Matter) requirement is "Get 15 eliminations in Hordepoint with Launchers or Special Weapons" — 15 total kills, banked one at a time, all inside the Hordepoint mode. It is not 15 matches, and it's not a batched counter.

Where is Hordepoint in Black Ops 7 and why can't I find it? Hordepoint is a Season 06 The Haunting limited-time Multiplayer mode (a zombie-infested Hardpoint variant) that arrived in-season rather than at launch and rotates in and out of the featured playlist row. If it's not currently listed, the challenge can't progress until it's back in rotation — it's a playlist issue, not your account.

What weapon should I use for the Hordepoint challenge? Either a Launcher or a Special Weapon — the challenge accepts both, so use whichever you're strongest with. Hordepoint clusters enemies (and zombies) around the objective, so splash damage on the point scores kills quickly. Play the objective rather than the map edges.

Do kills in normal Hardpoint or Nuketown count for this challenge? No. The challenge is locked to the Hordepoint limited-time mode. Launcher and Special Weapon kills in core Hardpoint, Nuketown, or any other playlist will not tick the counter — this is the most common reason players think it's bugged when it isn't.

What do I get for finishing the Camo Costume Party challenges? Any nine challenges across the event unlock the Arcblade melee weapon; all challenges in one mode unlock that mode's animated Mastery Camo plus 10,000 XP; and completing every challenge across Multiplayer, Zombies, Endgame, and Warzone unlocks the hidden Oozed camo. The event runs until October 8, 2026.
