TL;DR: How do you craft Diablo 4 Infinity, and which class benefits most?
Craft Infinity in the Horadric Cube using 2 Ber, 1 Mal, 1 Ist and 1 compatible Common weapon. Its Diablo IV power makes Close enemies Vulnerable and boosts your damage against them, with a 50% chance to cast Chain Lightning on a kill. Barbarian is our first pick for a flexible close-range setup. Firewall Sorcerer has a documented endgame use case, too. Recipe and effects.
Two Ber runes. Before spending them, work out which weapon you're replacing and whether you fight close enough for Infinity’s signature effect to earn its keep.
Here's the recipe, eligible bases, the “Conviction aura” confusion, class choices and a practical route to those missing runes. This guide covers Season 15, Season of Hell’s Legacy, with Blizzard’s patch notes checked through the October 14, 2026 entry for 3.2.3. Blizzard season overview, current patch notes.

Does Infinity really grant a Conviction aura in Diablo 4?
The verified Diablo IV effect is a proximity debuff. According to the tooltip, Close enemies become Vulnerable and take increased damage from you. There's no resistance-lowering skill named Conviction in that description. Build around the words Close and from you. Infinity item reference.
Read that before buying. Physical builds can consider Infinity; a Chain Lightning proc doesn't oblige you to stack lightning damage. A caster fighting at the edge of the screen, meanwhile, needs to question how often a nearby-enemy effect will help.
Don't buy it expecting a guaranteed party damage multiplier. Applying Vulnerable is one part of the power. The separate damage bonus explicitly applies to your damage.
Which effects matter during a boss fight?
Beyond the proximity effect, Infinity carries a chance to cast Chain Lightning after a kill, the passive from Druid’s Cyclone Armor, and a Crushing Blow affix. Those serve different purposes. Infinity power and affixes.
Something has to die. A boss with no adds won't feed you kill-triggered casts while it's alive. For that encounter, judge your main skill and the weapon’s remaining effects.
Dense packs offer more chances for lightning to fire. Useful for clearing, sure. That alone doesn't justify turning every character into a lightning build.
Use your actual item tooltip for numerical affix rolls and granted skill ranks. Public databases disagree on these values, so a single database number isn't enough to compare two finished weapons.
What is the Infinity Runeword recipe?
Combine Ber + Mal + Ber + Ist with a supported Common, white-quality weapon in the Horadric Cube. Both Ber copies are required. Season 15 recipe list.
| Ingredient | Quantity for one Infinity | Check before crafting |
|---|---|---|
| Ber rune | 2 | Reserve both copies |
| Mal rune | 1 | Keep this separate from rune upgrades |
| Ist rune | 1 | Include it alongside Mal |
| Compatible Common weapon | 1 | Match your class and intended slot |
| Total rune copies | 4 | Three different rune names |
Which weapon bases work?
The documented list covers 10 weapon types: two-handed axe, two-handed mace, two-handed sword, two-handed scythe, polearm, glaive, quarterstaff, staff, bow and crossbow. Whichever base you choose determines the finished weapon type. Compatible Infinity bases.
Check your class restrictions first. A base can qualify for this recipe without being something your character can wield.
For an endgame craft, hunt for a suitable Ancestral Common base to produce an Ancestral Runeword item. That spare Legendary in your stash won't substitute for it. The recipe requires Common quality. Horadric Cube crafting rules.
How do you make Infinity in the Cube?
Gain access to the Horadric Cube through the Lord of Hatred campaign. You'll find it in Temis afterward; get access to the station before planning your transmutation. Cube unlock and location.
- Pick a supported Common weapon your character can equip.
- Check its quality and Item Power before committing the runes.
- Put the weapon, two Ber, one Mal and one Ist in the Horadric Cube.
- Confirm that those ingredients enable Transmute.
- Craft Infinity and inspect the result before swapping out your current weapon.
You do not need to find a four-socket weapon and insert the runes into it. The Cube transmutes the base and ingredients into the finished item. Runeword crafting explanation.

Which class benefits most from Infinity?
Barbarian is our default recommendation for equipment flexibility and close-range play. More room in the loadout helps, as does staying beside enemies. Whether the swap pays off still depends on your gear.
Why does Barbarian get the first recommendation?
Barbarian’s Arsenal system lets you equip 4 weapons and assign them to attacks. Fitting a valuable two-handed item is easier with that room than in a setup where one staff replaces the entire weapon arrangement. Barbarian Arsenal system.
You're already beside your targets. For a close-range Barbarian, proximity is a straightforward reason to consider Infinity.
Whirlwind is worth investigating. Current players compare Infinity directly with The Furnace, reporting better results with Infinity in some setups while stressing that the competing weapon’s quality matters. Whirlwind player discussion.
Extra slots aren't free power. Check what you're giving up, confirm which weapon your main attack uses, and assess the whole loadout.
Why is Firewall Sorcerer a serious alternative?
This recommendation comes from a specific build. Zaramos’s Season 15 Firewall guide equips Infinity as a staff, prioritizes its Crushing Blow contribution, and reports better performance for the author than a wand-and-focus setup. Zaramos’s Firewall build.
Already playing Firewall? Give Infinity serious consideration. That also answers the lightning misconception: a fire build can want this weapon for its other benefits.
Follow the complete setup. Losing a wand and focus changes more than one tooltip, so copying only the staff may leave holes elsewhere.
How should other classes decide?
Before finding room for Infinity, ask:
- Can your character equip the intended base?
- Will you spend enough of the fight near the target?
- Would replacing your current weapon break a required interaction?
- Are you short on damage, survival, or both?
A bow or crossbow version is worth evaluating for melee Rogue. Being able to equip one doesn't establish it as the best choice.
Druid, Spiritborn, Necromancer, Paladin and Warlock players should make the same weapon-slot checks. A borrowed skill sharing your class name isn't reason enough to dismantle a working build.
Where should you farm Ber, Mal and Ist?
Two Ber runes are the obvious hurdle, but the remaining ingredients can be stubborn. As u/Happy-North-9450 put it: “I can't get high runes like Lo, Ber and Jah to drop at all.” Player’s Infinity farming question.
Start with reliable clears. Helltides’ farming reference lists Undercity and Waking Nightmares as rune sources, including an Undercity route through rune-reward Tributes. Farm these for useful ingredients without expecting a particular Ber drop. Rune farming reference.
Ready for harder encounters? Players repeatedly report high runes from Prime Evil runs, especially Baal and Mephisto. Treat those accounts as community reports, not published drop percentages. Blizzard confirms that pinnacle Waking Nightmares become available at Torment 10+ and have fixed difficulty. Player farming reports, Blizzard’s encounter explanation.
Taking the Baal route? Our Worldstone Keep guide covers the dungeon. Time your full runs, including deaths and resets. Someone else's fast clear doesn't make a difficult encounter efficient for you.

Can you craft the missing high runes?
Yes. These Cube upgrades convert existing stock into missing ingredients. Cliptis’s rune-upgrade reference.
| Put into the Horadric Cube | Result |
|---|---|
| 2 Mal + 1 Flawless Amethyst | 1 Ist |
| 2 Ist + 1 Flawless Ruby | 1 Vex |
| 2 Vex + 1 Flawless Emerald | 1 Ohm |
| 2 Ohm + 1 Flawless Diamond | 1 Lo |
| 2 Lo + 1 Grand Topaz | 1 Ber |
The final step for Infinity’s two Ber costs 4 Lo and 2 Grand Topazes. That arithmetic assumes you already have the Lo runes stashed.
Crafting Ist as well? Set aside 3 Mal total: two for Ist, one for Infinity. Upgrading your last Mal leaves the weapon recipe short.
There's a gap, though. The documented recipes do not let you turn Sol into Mal, so a pile of low runes can't carry you through every missing tier. Rune ladder and Mal restriction.
Why won't the Infinity recipe work?
Start with the base. Check that it's a supported weapon type, has Common quality and is actually inside the Cube. Count the runes next, including both Ber copies. Magic, Rare and Legendary bases don't meet the documented Runeword requirements. Base requirements.
A hidden recipe may display ???. See whether Transmute is available before treating that label as a bug. Hidden-recipe explanation.
Inspect your options after crafting; don't assume every unwanted affix can be fixed. Blizzard’s October 14 notes say: “Fixed an issue where some affixes could not be re-rolled with the Horadric Cube.” Critical Strike Damage appears among the listed fixes. An Infinity damage-type reroll isn't specifically promised. Blizzard patch 3.2.3.
Is Infinity worth your next upgrade?
Name the slot it replaces. Pin down what you'd lose and where Infinity’s effects help your current build. Still unsure? Save the runes.
Check the rest of your gear before a later Cube Mythic upgrade. Blizzard’s Upgrade Direct Item to Mythic recipe keeps existing affixes and modifications while adding a Crafted tag. Only 1 item with that tag can be equipped, and Unmodifiable items are excluded from the recipe. Blizzard’s Mythic crafting rules.
Choose which item deserves that crafted slot across your whole build before investing further in Infinity.
Once it's made, test it against your old weapon in the same content. Keep everything else equipped. Compare boss time, pack clearing and deaths, separating fights with adds from those without so kill-triggered lightning doesn't skew the result.
For Barbarian, begin with your Arsenal plan. For Firewall Sorcerer, use a complete Infinity setup. Two Ber runes deserve more thought than a green comparison arrow.
