The FC 27 Premium Pass is the paid half of the Season Pass, and for the first time the decision genuinely matters at launch. EA lists four different ways to unlock it — with FC Points, with Ultimate Team Coins, or with two kinds of token — and in EA SPORTS FC 26 one of those routes cost half a million coins per season.
This guide breaks down what the EA FC 27 Premium Pass costs in each currency, which route is cheapest once you run the numbers, whether the Ultimate Edition makes it free, and how FC 27's new End of Match Rewards change the maths for anyone who plays a lot of Ultimate Team.
Quick answer (TLDR): In FC 26 the Premium Pass was dual-priced at 1,000 FC Points or 500,000 UT Coins per season, and EA has not yet published FC 27 Season 1 pricing — treat those figures as the working baseline, not a confirmed FC 27 price. 1,000 FC Points means buying the 1,050-point tier at €/$9.99, so EA is effectively valuing 500,000 coins at about ten dollars. If you play FUT seriously and would buy the pass every season, the Ultimate Edition (€/$99.99) is the cheaper route — it includes the Season 1 Premium Pass plus up to 6,000 FC Points for a €/$30 premium over Standard. If you're a casual or a coin-grinder, pay coins only in seasons whose reward track you actually want. Ultimate Plus is no longer purchasable — its early-bird window closed 31 August 2026.

What is the FC 27 Season Pass, and what does Premium add?
The Season Pass is FC's cross-mode progression track. Per EA's official Premium Pass help article — written for FC 26, since EA has not yet published an FC 27 version — it "lets you earn rewards by completing Objectives" across Ultimate Team, Clubs and Career Mode, and you level it by banking Season Points (SP) from Daily, Weekly, Seasonal and Campaign Objectives.
The Premium Pass is the optional paid upgrade sitting on top of that. EA's wording is precise and worth quoting exactly:
"Premium Pass is an optional upgrade to Season Pass. It unlocks an additional reward track that runs alongside the free Season Pass track. Both tracks use the same SP progression."
— EA Help, How to use Premium Pass in EA SPORTS FC 26
Two consequences fall straight out of that sentence, and they answer most of the questions players ask:
- Buying Premium does not speed you up. Both tracks share one SP bar — you buy more rewards per level, never faster levels.
- Buying late loses you nothing. EA: "If you upgrade to Premium Pass mid-Season, you'll instantly unlock all Premium rewards for the levels you've already reached."
EA lists the Premium track's reward classes as Exclusive Players, Exclusive Cosmetics, and PlayStyle+ EVO Consumables. That last one matters more in FC 27 than it did last year — see the PlayStyle+ change below.
EA has confirmed the Season Pass system carries into FC 27 through the editions themselves: the FC 27 editions article lists "Premium Pass for Season 1" as Ultimate Edition content and "Premium Passes for Seasons 1 through 5" as Ultimate Plus content. What EA has not published is the Season 1 price tag.
How much does the FC 27 Premium Pass cost?
Here is the honest state of play as of 6 September 2026, with FC 27 still 19 days from its 25 September global release:
| Currency | FC 26 price (baseline) | FC 27 Season 1 price |
|---|---|---|
| FC Points | 1,000 | Not published by EA |
| Ultimate Team Coins | 500,000 | Not published by EA |
| Generic Token | 1 token | Not published by EA |
| Season Token | 1 token (that season only) | Not published by EA |
The 1,000 FC Points / 500,000 coins pairing held across FC 26's season cycle and is documented by community trackers including FIFPlay and fifauteam. EA itself has never published a price list for the pass — treat it as the FC 26 baseline, not an FC 27 fact. A Football Ultimate Team Launch Update Pitch Notes is still due before launch, and that is where FUT live-service pricing detail is most likely to land.
What 1,000 FC Points actually costs in cash
FC Points don't sell in 1,000-point units, which is the detail most "is it worth it" posts skip. The FC 26 store tiers were:
| FC Points | Price (regular) | Price (EA Play) | Cost per point |
|---|---|---|---|
| 100 | €0.99 | €0.89 | €0.0099 |
| 500 | €4.99 | €4.49 | €0.0100 |
| 1,050 | €9.99 | €8.99 | €0.0095 |
| 1,600 | €14.99 | €13.49 | €0.0094 |
| 2,800 | €24.99 | €22.49 | €0.0089 |
| 5,900 | €49.99 | €39.99 | €0.0085 |
| 12,000 | €99.99 | €89.99 | €0.0083 |
| 18,500 | €149.99 | €134.99 | €0.0081 |
(FC 26 tiers, EUR, per fifauteam's official price tracker. EA prices FC Points in your local currency and gives EA Play members roughly 10% off. EA has not published FC 27 tiers.)
So the smallest purchase that covers a 1,000-point pass is the 1,050 tier at €/$9.99 — about €8.99 with EA Play. Buying in bulk only drops you to €0.0081 per point, so at absolute best the pass costs around €8.10 of pre-bought points.
That gives us EA's own implied exchange rate: 500,000 coins ≈ €9.99, or roughly 50,000 coins per euro. Hold onto that number — it's the one that decides everything below.
Coins or FC Points: which is actually cheaper?
There is no universal answer, because the two currencies cost different things. Points cost money; coins cost time.
Pay with FC Points if you'd spend cash in the FUT store anyway. At ~€10 the pass is one of the few fixed-value purchases in Ultimate Team — you see the whole track before you buy, which is not true of a pack.
Pay with coins if half a million is under about a fifth of your bank. Above that the pass competes with squad upgrades you'd feel more, and early in a cycle the squad wins: coin inflation is at its lowest and every card is expensive.
Pay with neither if you play a handful of games a week. Both tracks share the same SP bar, so a low-SP player buys rewards for levels they'll never reach. Community consensus on the FC 26 subreddit was consistent: the pass repays people who clear objectives weekly and quietly wastes money for everyone else.
The season-long picture is where coins get expensive. FC 26 ran ten seasons, so buying in every season at 500,000 a time would have cost 5,000,000 coins across the year — a top-tier squad's worth of currency spent on reward tracks. The same year on points costs about €99.90 at the 1,050 tier, or roughly €81 via the 18,500 bundle.
What about Generic Tokens and Season Tokens?
This is the route almost nobody covers, and it's free. EA lists four unlock methods for the Premium Pass, not two:
- Generic Tokens — "can be used to unlock Premium Pass for any currently available season. If you get a Generic Token and you already have the current Season of Premium Pass unlocked, you can use your Generic Token for the next Season."
- Season Tokens — "if you've earned Season Tokens, they'll automatically redeem at the start of the Season listed. Season Tokens only work for a specific Season. For example, a Season 2 Token can only unlock the Premium Pass for Season 2."
Two practical rules follow. Check your token balance before you ever spend 500,000 coins — EA says the purchase options you see vary by mode, by what you own and by the tokens you hold, so it is genuinely possible to pay for something you already had. And a Generic Token is never wasted: if the current season is unlocked, it rolls to the next. Season Tokens don't roll; they auto-redeem on their listed season.
EA has not said which FC 27 programs hand out tokens. In FC 26 they surfaced through live content and objectives rather than the store. Don't confuse them with the other FUT token currencies: Event Tokens (from event programs, returning in FC 27) and Gallery Tokens (from grading FUT Gallery Sets) buy event and Gallery Store rewards — neither unlocks a Premium Pass.
Does the Ultimate Edition make the Premium Pass free?
Effectively, for Season 1 — and this is where the maths gets genuinely favourable. Straight from EA's FC 27 editions and release dates article:
| Standard | Ultimate | Ultimate Plus | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price | €/$69.99 | €/$99.99 | €/$149.99 |
| Still purchasable? | Yes | Yes — pre-order to 24 Sept, regular sale from 25 Sept | No — closed 31 Aug |
| Premium Pass | — | Season 1 | Seasons 1–5 |
| FC Points | — | Up to 6,000 / 3 drops | Up to 10,000 / 5 drops |
| Early access | — | From 18 Sept | From 18 Sept |
| Extra Evolution slot | — | Yes | Yes |
Run the Ultimate line as a store-value comparison. The €30 premium over Standard buys a Season 1 Premium Pass (≈€10 of store value) plus up to 6,000 FC Points — roughly €50 at the 5,900/€49.99 tier. That's about €60 of FUT store content for €30, before early access, the extra Evolution slot or the Career package.
Two hard caveats, both in EA's own words:
- There is no day-one 6,000-point war chest. EA's editions FAQ: "you will receive your first points grant when you first log in to EA SPORTS FC 27. After that, additional FC Point drops will be given on the 15th of each month." Ultimate spreads 6,000 across three drops, so the full amount lands months into the cycle — a missed login isn't forfeited, but you can't spend it early.
- Ultimate only covers Season 1. Seasons 2 onwards go back to points, coins or tokens. Only Ultimate Plus covered five seasons outright, and it stopped being sold on 31 August 2026 with no upgrade path from Ultimate, per EA's FAQ.

How do FC 27's End of Match Rewards change the Premium Pass?
This is the part that makes the FC 27 pass a different product from the FC 26 one, and it lands squarely on the community's loudest complaint about paid passes: that SP was rationed by EA's schedule, so paying for the track didn't let you finish it on your own time.
FC 27 changes the supply of SP itself. From the FUT Deep Dive (2 August 2026):
"In EA SPORTS FC 27, we're introducing End of Match Rewards as a major part of this work. At launch, we expect a portion of the rewards associated with weekly mode rewards and Live Event Objectives to move into Match Coins and SP earned after playing a match in select modes."
— EA SPORTS, FC 27 FUT Deep Dive
EA states three intentions: a clearer sense of progression after every match, a better connection between the Seasonal Ladder and gameplay, and the ability to keep earning once weekly rewards are done. That third one answers the old complaint directly — in FC 26, once your weekly rewards were finished, extra games paid comparatively little.
Read carefully, though, because EA hedged its own sentence and so should you:
- EA wrote "we expect" and "a portion" — nothing here is final.
- "Select modes" is undefined. EA has not published which modes pay End of Match Rewards.
- No per-match SP or coin value has been published, and neither has the size of the corresponding cut to weekly Rivals and Champions payouts.
- This is not FUT suddenly paying you per match. FC 26 already paid Match Coins after every game, plus instant Rivals Bounties. What's new in FC 27 is the scale of that payout and the fact that SP now rides alongside it.
The net effect: if SP genuinely flows from matches rather than only from objectives, high-volume players hit the top of the track earlier each season, which raises the value of paying for the premium half. Low-volume players gain less — they were never SP-capped by the schedule in the first place.
One more FC 27 change quietly raises the pass's value: EA is reducing the maximum number of PlayStyle+ on a single Item from five to three, making each PlayStyle+ EVO consumable — a listed Premium Pass reward class — scarcer than in FC 26. We covered the wider ruleset in FC 27 Ultimate Team: Every Confirmed New Feature at Launch and the reward overhaul in detail in FC 27 End of Match Rewards Explained.
So is the FC 27 Premium Pass worth it?
| Player type | Verdict | Route |
|---|---|---|
| Daily FUT player, buys points anyway | Yes | Ultimate Edition for S1, then FC Points |
| Daily FUT player, never spends cash | Yes, selectively | Coins — but only in seasons whose track you want |
| Weekend Rivals/Champs player | Probably | Wait 2–3 weeks, check your SP level, buy retroactively |
| Casual, a few games a week | No | Shared SP bar means you won't reach the rewards |
| Career Mode / Clubs only | Rarely | Premium's headline rewards are FUT-weighted |
The single best tactical point: there is no penalty for waiting. Because premium rewards unlock retroactively, the optimal play for anyone unsure is to play the first two or three weeks of Season 1, look at how fast End of Match Rewards are actually moving your SP bar, and buy only if you're clearly on pace. Everyone who buys on day one is paying for information they don't have yet.
Building the coin bank to pay for it — without the grind:
>
- EA FC 27 Coins — Comfort Trade with paced delivery, so a 500,000-coin pass doesn't cost you your squad
- EA FC 27 Evolutions Boost — Pathways cleared for you while you spend your SP time elsewhere
- EA FC 27 FUT Champions Boost — pro players running your weekend, for the rank rewards you'd otherwise miss
>
A note we'd rather make than skip: EA's User Agreement prohibits buying, selling or transferring coins for real money, and enforcement can include coin removal, a transfer-market ban or an account ban. timesaver.gg uses Comfort Trade with paced delivery and no cheats, bots or injectors — that reduces exposure, it does not eliminate it. Buy with that understood.
How to be able to afford it at launch
If you intend to pay coins for Season 1, make the pass a budget line, not an impulse:
- Set the 500,000 aside before launch week ends. Card prices peak in the first fortnight; spend to the last coin on a starter squad and you'll be selling players later to fund the pass.
- Check the track, then bank SP, then decide. Two weeks tells you your real rate, and retroactive unlock makes that information free.
- Don't double-pay. If your edition already includes Season 1, or you're holding a Generic Token, spending coins is pure loss.
Our launch-week trading breakdown is in FC 27 Trading Guide: Best Coin-Making Methods for Launch Week, and if you're still deciding when you can start earning at all, FC 27 Release Date, Early Access and Web App has every confirmed date. FAQ
How much does the FC 27 Premium Pass cost? EA has not published Season 1 pricing yet. In FC 26 the Premium Pass was 1,000 FC Points or 500,000 Ultimate Team Coins per season, and that is the sensible working baseline until EA's Football Ultimate Team Launch Update Pitch Notes lands. Buying 1,000 FC Points in practice means the 1,050-point tier at €/$9.99, or about €8.99 with EA Play.
Do I get the earlier rewards if I buy the Premium Pass late in the season? Yes. EA states that upgrading mid-season instantly unlocks all Premium rewards for the levels you've already reached. There is no penalty for waiting, which makes buying on day one strictly worse than buying once you know your SP pace.
Does the Premium Pass make me level up faster? No. Both tracks use the same SP progression, so Premium adds rewards per level, not speed. What changes levelling speed in FC 27 is End of Match Rewards — EA says SP will be paid after matches in select modes, without publishing which modes or how much.
Is the Premium Pass included in the FC 27 Ultimate Edition? Yes, for Season 1 only. Ultimate Plus covered Seasons 1 through 5, but it was early-bird exclusive and stopped being sold on 31 August 2026, with no upgrade path from Ultimate per EA's FAQ.
Can I get the Premium Pass for free? Sometimes. Alongside FC Points and coins, EA lists Generic Tokens and Season Tokens. Generic Tokens work on any currently available season and roll forward if the current one is already unlocked; Season Tokens auto-redeem for one specific season. Check your token balance before spending coins.
