FC 27 Switching Platforms: What Carries Over — and What You Lose Forever

EA SPORTS FC 27 is still in its pre-launch phase. The game releases globally on 25 September 2026, early access for Ultimate and Ultimate Plus Edition owners starts 18 September 2026, and the Ultimate Team Web App is widely expected around 16 September — although EA has not confirmed a Web App date, so treat that one as a pattern-based estimate, not a promise.

That leaves roughly two weeks to answer the question thousands of players are asking right now: is switching platforms for FC 27 worth it — to a different console, or to PC? A new title resets almost everything anyway, so this is the cheapest moment of the year to switch — and the most expensive mistake you can make in the launch window, because EA's carryover rules hinge on one phrase, platform family, and crossing that line deletes value you cannot appeal, refund or re-earn. Here is what EA has actually published, versus what forums assume.

Quick Answer (TL;DR)

Everything that carries from FC 26 to FC 27 requires the same EA Account and the same platform family. Stay inside a family — PS4 → PS5, Xbox One → Xbox Series X/S, PC store → PC store — and your carryover rewards, FC Points and Ultimate Team progression follow you. Cross a family line — PlayStation → Xbox, console → PC, anything → Nintendo Switch — and you forfeit the entire FC 26 carryover package (roughly 70,000 coins, 22 items rated 81+/82+, two tradeable picks, one Heroes loan pick and four consumables), plus every unspent FC Point. There is no transfer service, no support ticket and no workaround. If you are switching, switch before you log into FC 27 for the first time, and budget for a from-scratch club.

Three numbers worth fixing in your head before you read on:

  • One month. EA: all earned carryover rewards must be redeemed within one month of delivery, or they are gone.
  • 100 GB. The storage requirement on every single tier of EA's official FC 27 PC requirements chart — Minimum through Ultra.
  • 17 September, 23:00 UTC. The moment PC early access unlocks, per EA's pre-order terms. Consoles unlock at local midnight on 18 September instead, which means switching to PC also changes when you get to play.

What Does EA Actually Mean by "Platform Family"?

"Platform family" is EA's term for a hardware lineage, not a specific box: PlayStation 4 and PS5 are one family, Xbox One and Series X/S another, PC a third, and Nintendo Switch plus Switch 2 a fourth — the most isolated of the lot.

EA's cross-play help article states the progression rule plainly:

"Cross-progression is available if you're playing on the same platform. For example, you can carry over all of your progress from PlayStation®4 to PlayStation®5 or Xbox One to Xbox Series X/S, but not from PlayStation® to Xbox."

The same page adds a PlayStation-specific limit that surprises people: "Cross-progression on PlayStation® is only available in Ultimate Team™." So even a legitimate PS4 → PS5 move does not carry every mode's progress on PlayStation — Ultimate Team is the mode EA commits to.

Note the confusion trap. One EA Account can be linked to several platform accounts at once — a Steam link and a PlayStation Network link can coexist, and players moving from PlayStation to PC report the Companion App simply lets them switch between the two clubs. That is why so many assume their club travels with them. It does not: the account links let you see two separate clubs, they do not merge them.

What Carries Over From FC 26 to FC 27 — and On What Condition?

EA published the carryover conditions in the FC 26 Pre-Season Pitch Notes (28 August 2026), and the wording is unambiguous:

"To receive your earned rewards, you must log in to FC 27 FUT™ using the same EA Account and platform family you used to earn them in FC 26. All earned carryover rewards must be redeemed within one month. If you do not log in before the redemption deadline, you will not receive your carryover rewards."

That sentence governs the whole package — Season 10 ladder rewards, Final Whistle Live Events rewards and World's Game rewards. Combined, the haul is roughly 70,000 coins, 22 items rated 81+ or 82+, two tradeable player picks, one Heroes loan pick and four consumables. None of it lands on day one: EA's stated delivery is "from early October", with Final Whistle rewards "starting from 23 October". (Our FC 27 carryover rewards and delivery dates breakdown covers the full table and EA's own 9-vs-16 October date contradiction.)

FC Points follow the same logic. EA has not published an FC 26 → FC 27 points article yet, so the current source of record is the FC 25 → FC 26 version, which is expected to repeat:

"You can only transfer FC Points from EAS FC 25 to EAS FC 26 on the same console family. For example, you can transfer your points if you play both games on Xbox Series X/S. You can also transfer your points from an older generation to a newer generation console of the same type, like from Xbox One to Xbox Series X/S. But you can't transfer your points from EAS FC 25 on Xbox Series X/S to EAS FC 26 on PlayStation®5."

Two details matter on launch day. "Transferring points is permanent" — there is no route back. And the prompt only appears in-game: "You can't carry over your points using the Ultimate Team™ Web or Companion Apps." Open FC 27 on the Web App first and your balance will not move until you boot the game on hardware.

What Do You Lose the Moment You Change Platform Family?

WhatSame familyDifferent family
FC 26 → FC 27 carryover rewards (~70,000 coins, 22 items)✅ Delivered from early October❌ Forfeited entirely
Unspent FC Points✅ One-time transfer, permanent❌ Stranded on the old platform
Ultimate Team club name and established date✅ Carries❌ New club, new founding date
Ultimate Team progression (PlayStation)✅ Cross-progression supported❌ None
Non-UT progress on PlayStation⚠️ EA only commits to Ultimate Team❌ None
Division Rivals legacy placement✅ Taken into account❌ Treated as a fresh account
Purchased edition entitlement (Ultimate/Standard)✅ Within the family❌ Must repurchase
Career Mode saves❌ Title-specific either way❌ Title-specific either way

Two rows deserve emphasis. Division Rivals legacy placement is EA-documented and is the launch-window fact most players miss: "When you first start playing Rivals, you'll begin in Division 10, but if you played the previous EA SPORTS FC™ title, your previous legacy placement will be taken into account." Switch family and you present as a player with no history. EA has never published the conversion formula, so nobody can tell you the exact division you would have inherited — only that you are giving it up.

Edition entitlement is the row that costs real money. A $99.99 Ultimate Edition bought on PlayStation does not become an Xbox or PC copy. Switching family in the pre-order window means buying the game twice — which is why the decision belongs before 17 September, not after.

EA SPORTS FC 27 The Grounds and Clubs Deep Dive banner — the mode EA restricts to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2

Is PS4 → PS5 or Xbox One → Series X/S Actually a Switch?

No — and EA makes it free. From the official FC 27 editions FAQ:

"Yes, you may upgrade your copy of EA SPORTS FC™ 27 from PlayStation®4 to PlayStation®5, or Xbox One to Xbox Series X/S at no additional cost."

But EA immediately attaches a warning in the same answer: "Please note that some features may vary by platform. For example, The Grounds will not be available on PlayStation®4 or Xbox One, so any content connected to The Grounds will only be accessible on supported platforms."

The article's footnote sets the boundary: The Grounds mode, including Clubs, is available only on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2. An old-gen console keeps your club and your carryover but locks you out of an entire pillar of FC 27 — and out of the Grounds cosmetics bundled with every pre-order edition. FC 27's new Off-Balance Dribbling mechanic is restricted to the same four platforms.

There is a matchmaking consequence too. EA groups cross-play by generation:

"You'll be grouped by platform generation, which means you can only play against others in the same generation: current-generation consoles (PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC) old-generation consoles (PlayStation®4 and Xbox One)."

Staying on PS4 or Xbox One means a smaller, older matchmaking pool in the game's biggest month. The free generational upgrade is the one "platform change" with no downside — take it.

What Changes If You Move to PC?

Moving to PC is a genuine family change: you lose everything in the table above. What you gain is worth knowing before you rule it out.

You play earlier — sometimes. EA's pre-order terms put PC on a single global UTC clock and every other platform on local midnight: early access begins "September 17, 2026 23:00 UTC (PC) and September 18, 2026 at 12:00 am consumer local time (all other platforms)". Launch repeats it — 24 September 23:00 UTC for PC, 25 September local midnight elsewhere. That is a several-hour head start across the Americas, but east of the UK consoles unlock first. Our FC 27 unlock times by platform guide has the region arithmetic.

You get a cheaper early-access route. EA Play Pro runs $16.99 / €16.99 a month or $119.99 a year — EA's storefront prices in your local currency — and EA's FC 27 disclaimers name the Pro Edition explicitly: up to 7 days of early access, the Season 1 Premium Pass, 6,000 FC Points delivered across three 2,000-point drops rather than in one lump, and the 85+ OVR International ICON that a September-bought Ultimate Edition does not include. Three months of Pro (~$50.97) undercuts a $99.99 Ultimate Edition. The catch is verbatim on help.ea.com: "EA Play Pro — Available on PC for use on the EA app only. EA Play Pro isn't available on Steam or Epic." We compared both routes in EA Play Pro vs Ultimate Edition for FC 27.

You need real hardware. EA's official PC requirements chart runs four tiers, and the storage line never moves: 100 GB on Minimum, Recommended, High and Ultra alike — HDD is tolerated at Minimum, SSD everywhere above it. High and Ultra are specified as targeting at least 80fps and 120fps respectively on the named hardware, not as ceilings.

EA SPORTS FC 27 PC Deep Dive Pitch Notes banner — EA published the FC 27 PC requirements in this article

One nuance worth flagging: EA's cross-play page treats "PC" as a single platform, which is why moving between PC storefronts — EA app, Steam, Epic — is generally not treated as a family change. EA has not published an FC 27 statement on store-to-store moves specifically, so if you are switching storefronts rather than hardware, confirm before you buy rather than assuming.

What About Nintendo Switch and Switch 2?

Nintendo is the most isolated choice in FC 27, documented across three separate EA pages.

Cross-play does not exist: "No, the Nintendo Switch™ doesn't support cross-play for EAS FC—you can only play with other Switch players. You can't play on Switch against someone playing on a PC, PlayStation®, or Xbox." Cross-progression is limited to the Nintendo pair: "EAS FC supports cross-progression between the Nintendo Switch™ and the Nintendo Switch™ 2 in Ultimate Team™… If you play EAS FC on the Nintendo Switch™, your progress won't carry over to other platforms."

The editions article adds two more exclusions: Ultimate Plus "will not be available on Nintendo platforms or the Epic Games Store", and the FC 26 bonus content attached to every pre-order edition is flagged "Not available for Nintendo Switch™ or Nintendo Switch™ 2". FC 27 Lite, the free launch-day preview live 25 September at 16:00 UTC, ships on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, EA App, Steam and Epic — not on Nintendo hardware at all. Switch 2 does get The Grounds and Off-Balance Dribbling; it still shares a matchmaking pool with nobody.

The Hidden Cost of Switching Platforms: Your Transfer Market Clock Resets

This is the consequence almost nobody prices in, and in a launch window it is worth more than the carryover coins.

A new platform means a new Ultimate Team account, and FC 27's Transfer Market has two independent gates (documented for FC 26; EA has published no FC 27 version, so expect it to repeat). One is the in-game Graduated Access objective group. The Web and Companion App market is a separate gate, and EA is explicit that clearing the first does not clear the second: "Completing Graduated Access doesn't automatically unlock access on the Web and Companion apps."

App access is earned in "active days", and EA defines the term precisely: "An active day is when you've played three full matches in Ultimate Team™ and logged in to the Web or Companion App within a calendar day, following UTC timezones, per Ultimate Team™ account." Grinding harder does not help — "Playing more than three matches per day won't increase your chances."

Here is the switching penalty. EA's worked examples give 2 active days to a good-standing account that is the only Ultimate Team account ever created on or logged in from that device, and at least 4 active days if it is not the only account. Set up a new-platform club on a device that already hosted your old one and you can double your wait for Web App trading — in the exact week launch-market margins are widest. There is also a returning-player skip that clears both gates at once (EA documented it for FC 26 and has not published the FC 27 eligibility list), but a brand-new account has no returning history to qualify with. Full mechanic: our FC 27 transfer market locked guide.

Rebuilding on a New Platform? Coins Are the Bottleneck

If you switch, you land on 18 or 25 September with an empty club, no carryover, no legacy Rivals placement and a Transfer Market timer running. That squad gap is the whole cost of the decision — and launch week is the most expensive time of year to close it by grinding.

Starting from zero on a new platform? These are the services that close the gap fastest while you rebuild — Comfort Trade delivery, no bots or injectors, paced to your club. EA's User Agreement still prohibits buying and selling coins for real money, so no honest seller can promise zero risk; we pace delivery to keep it low, and we say so plainly.

Should You Switch Before 18 September, or Wait?

Decide now, and decide once. The cost of switching is fixed and known today; the cost of switching after you have played rises every week as your new-platform club falls further behind.

Switch now if: you are moving to a current-generation platform from PS4 or Xbox One (the in-family upgrade is free and lossless), you want The Grounds and Clubs, your friends have moved, or you are going to PC specifically for the EA Play Pro route and the earlier UTC unlock. Do it before you log into FC 27 for the first time so the FC Points prompt appears on the platform you intend to keep.

Do not switch if: you are sitting on a large FC 26 carryover package and unspent FC Points, you value your Rivals legacy placement, or you would have to repurchase an edition you already own. The ~70,000 coins and 22 high-rated items are real value in a launch economy where everyone is short of fodder — our FC 27 launch-week starter squad guide shows how far that package goes on day one.

If you are undecided: the free generational upgrade inside your existing family is the only move with no downside. Take it, keep your club, revisit the bigger question next cycle. For what survives the FC 26 → FC 27 jump regardless of hardware, see our FC 26 to FC 27 carryover explainer.

FAQ

Can I transfer my FUT club from PlayStation to Xbox in FC 27? No. EA's cross-play help article states cross-progression works only within the same platform — PS4 to PS5 or Xbox One to Xbox Series X/S, "but not from PlayStation® to Xbox." There is no transfer service, and EA support cannot move a club between families.

Do my FC Points carry over if I change console brand? No. EA's points article restricts transfers to the same console family and gives the exact counter-example: you cannot move points from Xbox Series X/S to PlayStation 5. Unspent points stay stranded, and the transfer you do make is permanent.

Is PS4 to PS5 free in FC 27? Yes. EA's editions FAQ confirms you may upgrade from PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5, or Xbox One to Xbox Series X/S, at no additional cost. The Grounds is unavailable on PS4 and Xbox One, so Grounds-linked content only works on supported platforms.

Does switching to PC get me into FC 27 earlier? It depends where you live. EA's pre-order terms unlock PC early access at 17 September 2026 23:00 UTC and all other platforms at local midnight on 18 September — a head start across the Americas, a delay east of the UK.

Will I keep my Division Rivals division if I switch platforms? No. EA applies your "previous legacy placement" to the same account history; a fresh club on a new platform is treated as a new player. EA has never published the conversion formula, so no site can tell you which division you forfeited.

Can Nintendo Switch players play against PS5 or PC players in FC 27? No. EA is explicit that Nintendo Switch does not support cross-play for EA SPORTS FC — Switch and Switch 2 players can only play each other. Cross-progression exists between Switch and Switch 2 in Ultimate Team, and nowhere else.
