Two Faces of Fear is a free FC 27 Evo for strikers: +5 OVR up to an 81 cap, +8 Finishing and Positioning, and a level 3 choice between Target Forward++ and False 9++, for 4 matches and no wins. Any card rated 76 or higher finishes at 81. The catch for tall cards is the run type: Path A's Strength and Path B's Agility can move a card in or out of Lengthy, and neither path's upgrade list says so. EA SPORTS FC 27 added the Evo on Saturday 31 October at 18:00 UTC, and you have until Tuesday 10 November to start it.
We pulled fut.gg's eligible and evolved player lists on 31 October and matched all 3,384 eligible cards to their evolved versions. Every total below refers to those cards, on the path fut.gg lists for each. Below are the requirements, every level, how to choose a path, the shortlist, and two free chains that start from much lower-rated cards.
TLDR: FC 27 Two Faces of Fear in 30 seconds. Free, one use. Any card that can play ST (alternate positions count), rated 80 or lower, PAC 86 or lower, DRI 82 or lower, up to 7 PlayStyles and no PlayStyle+. 3 levels, 4 matches, no wins needed, in Squad Battles (Semi-Pro or higher), Rush, Rivals, Champions or Live Events. You get +5 OVR (cap 81), +4 Acceleration and Sprint Speed (cap 82), then pick Path A (Target Forward++, Precision Header, Strength) or Path B (False 9++, Incisive Pass, Dribbling). Under 185 cm, take Path B. At 191 cm or taller, take Path A. In between, check the run type section first. Start by Tuesday 10 November, 18:00 UTC; finish by Tuesday 17 November, 18:00 UTC.

What is the FC 27 Two Faces of Fear Evolution?
Two Faces of Fear is a free, three-level Pathway Evolution, which means you choose one upgrade option at level 3. Its in-game description, reproduced on fut.gg, reads: "Every striker has a dark side. Choose your nightmare: a towering Target Forward who rules the air, or a False 9 who drifts into the shadows to haunt defenders." (fut.gg, Two Faces of Fear)
EA doesn't publish an article for weekly Evolutions. The requirements, upgrades and deadlines below come from fut.gg's copy of the in-game Evolution data, pulled on 31 October, and match the level list Destructoid published on release night.
What are the Two Faces of Fear requirements?
| Requirement | Value |
|---|---|
| Position | ST (alternate positions count) |
| Max OVR | 80 |
| Max Pace (PAC) | 86 |
| Max Dribbling (DRI) | 82 |
| Max PlayStyles | 7 |
| Max PlayStyles+ | 0 |
| Cost | Free (0 coins, 0 FC Points) |

| Released | Saturday 31 October 2026, 18:00 UTC |
| Start by | Tuesday 10 November 2026, 18:00 UTC |
| Finish by | Tuesday 17 November 2026, 18:00 UTC |
The position rule counts alternates, so this isn't only for main strikers. 2,512 of the 3,384 cards are main-position STs, and the other 872 play ST as an alternate, led by 245 CAMs, 186 LMs and 167 RMs.
The pool is almost all base items: 1,215 bronze, 1,788 silver and 381 gold, plus 22 Team of the Week cards. Your own club is what counts, so confirm any card in the in-game Evolution preview.
What upgrades does Two Faces of Fear give?
Each upgrade is a boost with a cap. Caps never lower a stat, so a card already above a cap keeps its own number.
| Level | Task | Upgrades (boost, cap) |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Play 1 match | OVR +5 (81), Sprint Speed +4 (82), Finishing +8 (82), Volleys +6 (80), Reactions +7 (80), Composure +7 (80) |
| Level 2 | Play 1 match | Acceleration +4 (82), Positioning +8 (82), Shot Power +7 (82), Penalties +6 (80), Ball Control +6 (80), Stamina +7 (78) |
| Level 3, Path A | Play 2 matches | ST Target Forward++, Precision Header (only if fewer than 3), Heading Accuracy +8 (82), Jumping +8 (82), Strength +8 (85), Aggression +6 (78) |
| Level 3, Path B | Play 2 matches | ST False 9++, Incisive Pass (only if fewer than 3), Vision +8 (80), Short Passing +8 (80), Agility +6 (80), Dribbling +6 (81) |
Every match runs in Squad Battles on Semi-Pro or higher, Rush, Rivals, Champions or Live Events, with your active Evo player in the game. That's 4 matches and 0 wins.
76 is the lowest rating that reaches 81. With +5 OVR and an 81 cap, every rating from 76 to 80 finishes there. In the data, 290 cards finish at 81, while everything below 76 finishes 5 higher than it started.
Pace is modest. 2,488 cards gain the full +4 face PAC and 252 gain nothing, because their pace stats already sit at or above the 82 caps. Skill Moves and Weak Foot don't change on any card.
What is the Role++ worth?
It's the main reason to run this Evo on a card that's already well rated. 3,362 of the 3,384 cards gain a new ST Role++. The other 22 are the Team of the Week cards, which already hold both Roles at ++, because EA gives every special item Role++ in its positions. For those, the path is purely a stat choice.
Most of the pool starts well below that. 2,100 cards hold neither Role at Role+, 882 hold False 9+, 529 hold Target Forward+, and 127 of those hold both. EA said in its FC 27 FUT Deep Dive: "Some of the most popular Evolutions in EA SPORTS FC™ 26 were those that added Role+ or Role++ familiarity."
Two things limit that value. The Role++ is an ST Role, so a winger only benefits while playing striker. And you have to assign the Role in your tactic. See our FC 27 Player Roles guide for what each familiarity tier changes.
How does the Two Faces of Fear PlayStyle cap work?
The PlayStyle only lands if the card holds fewer than 3 when level 3 completes. Across the pool that's fine: 2,978 cards gain the PlayStyle on their listed path, 239 are blocked by the cap and 167 already own it.
The cards reaching 81 are different. Of those 290, only 158 (54%) gain it, 104 are blocked by the cap and 28 already have it. So don't choose a path for its PlayStyle until you've counted the card's PlayStyles.
Which Two Faces of Fear path should you pick?
Path B for most cards, and Path A only once the card is tall. On fut.gg, each evolved card is listed with one path, the one its GG Rating scores highest. That's 2,644 cards (78%) on Path B and 740 (22%) on Path A, but height decides nearly all of the split.
The jump at 185 cm is hard to miss. fut.gg doesn't publish how its rating weighs height, but 185 cm is also where men's cards can first become Lengthy, and that matters here.

Can Two Faces of Fear change a card's run type?
Yes, on tall cards, and the two paths push in opposite directions. EA set these Lengthy requirements in FC 26 (Version 1.4.0 notes) and has only restated the women's height for FC 27: at least 185 cm for men, 172 cm for women (Closed Beta Feedback Update), Strength 65+, Acceleration 40+, and Strength minus Agility of at least 4.
We tested that rule against fut.gg's run type on 1,912 base cards, men from 182 cm and women from 170 cm. It matched every one: 955 Lengthy and 957 not. So we applied it to each path. Path A adds Strength and Path B adds Agility, and those sit on opposite sides of that last condition.
Of the 1,375 cards tall enough to qualify, 443 end up on a different side of the line depending on the path. Path A turns 252 non-Lengthy cards Lengthy, and Path B takes Lengthy away from 204. These are our calculations from the base attributes, before chemistry styles, which move the same stats. fut.gg's evolved lists don't show a run type, so check the finished card's in-game Bio.
| Player | Height | Strength / Agility now | Lengthy now? | Path A | Path B |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (79) | 187 cm | 70 / 69 | No | 78 / 69, Lengthy | 70 / 75, not Lengthy |
| Morata (78) | 189 cm | 78 / 76 | No | 85 / 76, Lengthy | 78 / 80, not Lengthy |
| Mourad Batna (78) | 185 cm | 82 / 79 | No | 85 / 79, Lengthy | 82 / 80, not Lengthy |
| Hugo Cuypers (78) | 185 cm | 75 / 66 | Yes | 83 / 66, Lengthy | 75 / 72, not Lengthy |
| Nicolas Jackson (79) | 187 cm | 77 / 72 | Yes | 85 / 72, Lengthy | 77 / 78, not Lengthy |
| Thierno Barry (76) | 195 cm | 79 / 66 | Yes | 85 / 66, Lengthy | 79 / 72, Lengthy |
How much should that matter? Less than it did. EA says it has "slightly reduced the impact of AcceleRATE profiles on a player's running performance, bringing Explosive, Controlled, and Lengthy players a little closer together." Triggered runs also now have a limited distance, as our AcceleRATE update breakdown covers. So treat it as a tie-breaker. If you've built around a card's current feel, pick the path that keeps its run type.
The short version:
- Men under 185 cm: Path B. Path A can't make them Lengthy, and fut.gg lists Path B on almost all of them.
- 185 to 190 cm: check Strength minus Agility, then decide which run type you want.
- 191 cm or taller: Path A, which fut.gg lists on 266 of these 323 cards.
Which players are best for Two Faces of Fear?
These are strong 81 finishers on fut.gg's GG Rating, plus picks that also gain the PlayStyle. We've left out prices because they move daily, so check the market before you buy.
Best False 9 picks (Path B)

| Keito Nakamura | 76 | LM (CAM, ST, LW) | 87 / 79 / 75 / 80 / 75 | 4 / 4 | None (has 5) |

| Mathys Tel | 78 | LM (CAM, ST, LW) | 86 / 82 / 74 / 80 / 66 | 4 / 4 | Incisive Pass |
| Albert Guðmundsson | 77 | ST (LM, CAM, LW) | 86 / 80 / 73 / 82 / 69 | 3 / 4 | Incisive Pass |
Best use of the boost: Nakamura. He starts at 76, so he loses nothing to the cap, and he's one of only 5 cards in the pool to finish on 87 PAC or higher.
Best Target Forward picks (Path A)
| Player | Base | Height | Finished PAC / SHO / PAS / DRI / PHY | SM / WF | New PlayStyle |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mourad Batna | 78 | 185 cm | 82 / 81 / 75 / 78 / 81 | 4 / 5 | None (has 5) |
| Thierno Barry | 76 | 195 cm | 82 / 79 / 65 / 75 / 79 | 3 / 4 | Precision Header |

| Youssef En-Nesyri | 80 | 188 cm | 79 / 81 / 62 / 72 / 82 | 3 / 3 | None (has 5) |
Barry is the pick if you want the full Evo: all 5 OVR, 82 PAC and a new PlayStyle at 195 cm.
Can you chain Two Faces of Fear with Rise From the Grave?
Yes, and it's the best free route: 618 cards reach 81, starting from as low as 48. Rise From the Grave is a free Training Camp Evo for RM/RW cards rated 74 or lower with PAC 85 or lower, and it excludes CMs. It needs no matches and takes every card to 80. A card that also plays ST can then run Two Faces of Fear for the last point and the Role++.
Run Rise From the Grave first. Fut.gg's chain calculator shows 618 cards at 81 in that order. Reverse it and they stop at 80, because Rise From the Grave caps there. 580 of the 618 finish on exactly 84 PAC, and 554 are listed on Path B.
| Player | Base | Positions | Path | Finished PAC / SHO / PAS / DRI / PHY | SM / WF |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Janner Corozo | 71 | RM (RW, ST) | B | 84 / 80 / 77 / 82 / 68 | 4 / 4 |
| Michele Šego | 73 | LW (LM, RW, ST) | B | 85 / 81 / 77 / 82 / 72 | 4 / 4 |
| Dubasin | 74 | RW (RM, LM, CAM, ST, LW) | B | 86 / 80 / 77 / 82 / 69 | 4 / 4 |
| Hattan Bahbri | 66 | LW (RM, LM, CAM, RW, ST) | B | 84 / 79 / 77 / 82 / 69 | 4 / 5 |
| Oliver Antman | 72 | RM (LM, CAM, RW, ST, LW) | A | 86 / 80 / 76 / 82 / 74 | 3 / 5 |
454 of the 618 also land the path PlayStyle, and 427 of those started with none, so Rise From the Grave's two additions leave them under the cap of 3. Rise From the Grave stays open until 26 November, but it has to finish before Two Faces of Fear's start deadline on Tuesday 10 November, 18:00 UTC, so don't leave it late.
Can you chain Two Faces of Fear with False Seven?
Yes, and 70 to 75-rated cards can reach 81 this way, with Two Faces of Fear first. False Seven is the free LM/LW Evo from the night before, with +6 OVR to an 81 cap and an 80 OVR entry limit. A card with ST and LM or LW can do both. Matching the two eligible lists, we count 201 cards that reach 81 with Two Faces of Fear first, against 176 the other way round.
The 25-card gap comes from two limits. False Seven's +6 OVR would take the 20 cards rated 75 to 81, over this Evo's 80 entry limit, and 5 more finish False Seven above DRI 82. Arnaut Danjuma (75, LW, with LM and ST) is the best example of a card that only works in this order: on Path B of both Evos, he finishes on 81 with 83 PAC, 80 SHO, 80 PAS, 82 DRI and 70 PHY.
The tighter deadline here is False Seven's: Monday 9 November, 18:00 UTC. Clear your 4 Two Faces of Fear matches before then. If you're running both, check how many Evolutions you can hold at once.
Is Two Faces of Fear worth doing?
Yes, if you have a useful striker rated 76 or lower, or an RM/RW who also plays ST. Don't expect a meta card. It's free, needs no wins, and the Role++ is a real upgrade for almost every eligible card.
The complaints on r/EASportsFC are fair on one point. One reply reads: "Thanks for boosting a striker to 82 pace EA." Acceleration and Sprint Speed both cap at 82, and among the 290 cards that reach 81, the median finished PAC is 80. Only 38 finish on 84 or higher. If your front line is already built on 90+ pace, this won't replace it.
It's worth less if:
- Your candidate is rated 80. It gains just 1 OVR, so compare it with a 76 to 78 you could use instead.
- The card already has the Role++ you want, as all 22 Team of the Week cards do.
- Your card has 3 or more PlayStyles and already sits at the stat caps, which leaves mainly the Role++.
No time for Evo matches? Two Faces of Fear is only 4 games, but stacking it with False Seven and the rest of the Ultimate Scream objectives adds up fast. We can clear them for you:
- EA FC 27 Evolutions Boost — Evolution and Pathway matches completed on your account.
- EA FC 27 Coins — for a quick 76-rated striker to put through the Evo, or the squad around it.
FAQ
What are the FC 27 Two Faces of Fear requirements? The card must be able to play ST (alternate positions count), be rated 80 or lower, have PAC 86 or lower and DRI 82 or lower, and hold up to 7 PlayStyles and no PlayStyle+. It's free and can be used once.
How many matches does Two Faces of Fear take? Four matches with no wins required: one each for levels 1 and 2, then two for level 3, in Squad Battles on Semi-Pro or higher, Rush, Rivals, Champions or Live Events, with the Evo player in your team.
When does Two Faces of Fear expire? Start it by Tuesday 10 November 2026, 18:00 UTC, and finish it by Tuesday 17 November 2026, 18:00 UTC.
Should I pick Target Forward or False 9? False 9 for most cards, since fut.gg's rating lists Path B on 78% of them. Target Forward takes over with height: 34% of cards at 185 to 187 cm, rising to 84% at 194 cm or taller.
Does Two Faces of Fear change AcceleRATE? It can on tall cards. By our calculation using EA's Lengthy requirements, Path A's Strength makes 252 cards Lengthy and Path B's Agility removes Lengthy from 204. Check the finished card's in-game Bio.
Does Two Faces of Fear give a PlayStyle? Yes, Precision Header on Path A or Incisive Pass on Path B, but only if the card holds fewer than 3 PlayStyles. Of the 290 cards that reach 81, 158 gain it.
Last updated 1 November 2026. Data: fut.gg Evo 2643 eligible and evolved lists, fut.gg base attributes for 1,912 cards, the fut.gg chain calculator for Evo 2637, and the False Seven eligible and evolved lists from 30 October. Pulled 31 October 2026 unless stated.
