Quick answer (updated 28 October 2026, Chapter 7 Season 4 "Override", v42.40): Respawn Rumble is Epic's own 8v8 Zero Build team deathmatch mode. It's a permanent core mode that replaced Team Rumble in June 2025. Two teams of up to 8 respawn fast, and the first team to 40 eliminations wins. You won't find it with an island code. Open Discover, switch to the By Epic row (or type "Respawn Rumble" into search) and launch it. It does give XP and progresses Battle Royale Quests. This season it's on Nightmare Neighborhood, where it has been since v42.30 on 1 October 2026. Epic switched it off on 15 October to patch a Sprite-farming exploit and brought it back the same day. With Override ending 1 November 2026 (ET), players are using it for one trick in particular: a Respawn Rumble team win reportedly counts as a win for the Crown Sprite, the one Sprite that only masters by winning.
Key takeaways
- What it is: 8v8, Zero Build, unlimited respawns, siphon on eliminations, first to 40 eliminations wins. Max 16 players per match.
- How to find it: Discover → By Epic → Respawn Rumble. It has no island code.
- Where it is now: Nightmare Neighborhood, the Fortnitemares POI, since 1 October 2026 (v42.30). The arena has changed many times since launch.
- XP and quests: yes to both. Epic's in-game description says the mode lets you "progress Battle Royale Quests."
- Sprites: since the 15 October fix you can bring an equipped Sprite in on your back. The community wiki says the Sprite-chest extraction route only worked before that hotfix.
- Deadline: Override ends 1 November 2026 (ET) according to Epic's Battle Pass page. The Final Spritemare (2x Sprite XP) runs every day until 31 October.
What is Respawn Rumble in Fortnite?
Respawn Rumble is a core game mode made by Epic, not a Creative island. Here is Epic's playlist description, word for word:
"Jump into Respawn Rumble with up to 8 players in a squad to harness powerful seasonal weapons, earn siphon with eliminations, and progress Battle Royale Quests in an 8v8 Zero Build team showdown!"
Some history explains why so many players can't find it:
| Date | Update | What changed |
|---|---|---|
| 18 June 2025 | v36.10 | Launched as "Training Grounds", replacing Team Rumble |
| 27 June 2025 | – | Renamed Respawn Rumble |
| 1 Nov 2025 | v38.00 | Moved to Springfield Town Square (season change) |
| 29 Nov 2025 | v39.00 | Moved to InnoLoop Labs for Chapter 7 |
| 1 Oct 2026 | v42.30 | Moved to Nightmare Neighborhood for Fortnitemares |
| 15 Oct 2026 | v42.40 | Disabled for a Sprite exploit, re-enabled the same day |

The loading screen still shows the old "Training Grounds" name in the top-left corner. If you've seen that and wondered whether you queued into the wrong mode, you didn't.
How do you play Respawn Rumble? (Rules and win condition)
The rules fit in one line: two teams, 40 eliminations, unlimited respawns, no building.
- Team size: up to 8 per side, 16 players total. You can queue solo or bring a full squad.
- Win condition: the first team to 40 eliminations wins the match.
- Respawns: fast and unlimited. Getting eliminated costs your team nothing except the point the enemy gets.
- Zero Build: you can't build, so rocks, houses and fences are your only cover. That makes Nightmare Neighborhood's tight streets and two-storey houses a big part of every fight.
- Siphon: eliminations restore health and shields, so chaining fights pays off.
- Loot: Epic's description promises "powerful seasonal weapons", so you fight with this season's guns rather than looting from scratch.
Matches are short. Respawn Rumble gives you far more fights per hour than a 100-player Battle Royale, which is exactly why players use it for combat quests and Sprites.
Where is Respawn Rumble in Fortnite right now?
Nightmare Neighborhood, Fortnitemares' horror-movie suburb. Respawn Rumble has been played there since v42.30 on 1 October 2026, when it replaced The Battlewoods as the arena. If you want the lay of the land before you drop, our Fortnitemares 2026 map changes guide covers the POI.
Expect it to move on 1 November. The arena has changed again and again since June 2025: Supernova Academy, Dreamy Domain, Springfield Town Square, InnoLoop Labs, The Zero Point and The Battlewoods (it switched between those two more than once), and now Nightmare Neighborhood. Several of those moves came with a new season's update (v38.00, v39.00 and v41.00), and v43.00, the Treasure Hunters mini-season on 1 November, is another season update. Nightmare Neighborhood is also a Fortnitemares location. Epic hasn't announced the new arena, so treat any location you see before the update goes live as a guess. We'll update this section once v43.00 is live.
How do I find Respawn Rumble? (There's no island code)
"Fortnite Respawn Rumble code" is one of the most searched versions of this question, and the honest answer is that there isn't one. Island codes (the 12-digit ####-####-#### format) belong to Creative and UEFN islands. Respawn Rumble is a first-party Epic core mode, so it's listed in Epic's own row:
- From the lobby, open Discover.
- Scroll to the By Epic row. Respawn Rumble's tile is the purple-and-blue art at the top of this guide.
- If you can't see it, type "Respawn Rumble" into the Discover search bar.
- Select it, set fill or no-fill, and press Play.
Tip from players: set up your Sprite and loadout from the Battle Royale lobby first, then switch modes. One player who mastered all their Crown Sprites this way wrote on r/FortniteBR: "Just remember to equip your sprite from the BR menu before you switch and launch Respawn Rumble!"
Does Respawn Rumble give XP and progress quests?
Yes, on both counts. Epic's description says the mode lets you "progress Battle Royale Quests". Elimination, damage and weapon-type quests are the ones that move fastest, because you're fighting almost nonstop.
Two caveats:
- Epic doesn't publish an XP rate for Respawn Rumble. Any "XP per hour" number you see online was measured by players, not announced by Epic. Quests are where the real XP comes from, and those pay the same whichever mode you finish them in.
- Not every quest is likely to work here. Placement quests ("finish top 10"), POI landing quests and anything tied to the Battle Royale map, such as Override Consoles, Cheat Codes or specific landmarks, usually need a real Battle Royale match.
If XP is the goal, combine the two: clear elimination and damage quests in Respawn Rumble, then do location quests in Battle Royale. Our Chapter 7 Season 4 level-up guide and tested XP maps list cover the rest of the routine.
About XP glitches: Respawn Rumble has had two widely reported exploits. In January 2026 an XP glitch drew the mode from roughly 1,000 concurrent players to more than 12,000, according to VideoGamer as reported by TheGamer. In October 2026 a Lucky Locator exploit let players farm Sprites, and Epic took the mode offline to fix it. While the mode was down, GameRant warned that Epic "could very well reverse your extracted Sprites and consumed Lucky Locators." Glitches like these are short-lived and can cost you progress. Use the mode the way it's meant to be played.
Can you use Sprites in Respawn Rumble?
Yes, with limits that changed on 15 October 2026.
On 15 October Epic took Respawn Rumble offline. The official status account said:
"Respawn Rumble is back online ✅ We had to temporarily disable it while we fixed a Gizmo bug." (@FortniteStatus, 15 October 2026)
The bug was a Lucky Locator loop. Players could farm buried Sprite chests and extract the Sprites in Respawn Rumble without using up their Gizmos. After the fix:
- You can bring an equipped Sprite in on your back. Fortnite.gg's news account reported on 15 October that you "can now bring sprites in fully on your back. Gizmos now work normal like BR tho."
- The Sprite-chest farming route was closed, according to the wiki. The community wiki records that collecting Sprites from Sprite Chests and Cheat Codes and extracting them at nearby Extraction Sites only worked "prior to a hotfix applied shortly after the release of v42.40."
- Gizmos are consumed normally, the same as in Battle Royale.
Around the same time, an r/FortniteBR thread passed on a PSA that queueing Respawn Rumble with a Sprite equipped could cost you that Sprite. Epic's statement only mentions "a Gizmo bug", so it isn't clear whether that issue was part of the fix. Fortnite.gg's report suggests equipped Sprites now come in normally. If you still lose a Sprite, report it through Epic's in-game feedback tool.
Respawn Rumble is mostly useful for levelling a Sprite you already own. It's not a place to collect new ones. For new Sprites, Lucky Locators and Portable Extractors in Battle Royale are still the way to go. See our Sprite levelling and mastery guide.
How do you master Crown Sprites in Respawn Rumble?
This is why Respawn Rumble is busy this week. The Crown Sprite doesn't use the normal Sprite XP system. It levels only by winning matches, and today a single win with it equipped masters it (Fortnite.gg's Crown Sprite page). Its variants unlock in order as you master each one: Standard → Cheat Master → Gold (Vice). They're prestige variants. We found no source for the "Gold Crown gives triple elimination XP" claim that's going around.
Winning a 100-player Battle Royale solo is hard. An 8v8 deathmatch is much easier, because seven teammates share the work. Players report that a Respawn Rumble team win counts as a win for the Crown Sprite. One player described it on r/FortniteBR like this:
"I mastered them all yesterday that way… 6 games in a row, the 6 of them mastered."
Epic hasn't documented this, so treat it as community-reported behaviour that works as of 28 October 2026, not an official rule. To try it:
- In the Battle Royale lobby, equip the Crown Sprite (or the variant you're working on).
- Switch to Respawn Rumble in Discover and queue. Fill gives you more chances to land on the stronger team.
- Win the match. The Crown Sprite should register the win.
- Back in the lobby, equip the next variant and repeat.
If a win doesn't register, check you equipped the Sprite before switching modes, which is the most common mistake in player reports. Otherwise, the slower Battle Royale method still works: play the edge of the storm, stock up on heals and fight only the last few players.
What happens to Respawn Rumble when Override ends?
The mode isn't going anywhere. It's a permanent core mode and has lasted through every season change since June 2025. Two things will almost certainly change on 1 November 2026 (v43.00, Treasure Hunters):
- The arena, probably. It has moved many times since launch and Nightmare Neighborhood is a Fortnitemares location. Epic hasn't named the new arena.
- Your Sprite progress, probably. At the Season 3 → Season 4 change, Epic's Sprites post said "your Gizmos and Sprite Dust will reset when the season ends." That was about the last season, so it's precedent, not a confirmed rule for Override. Whether Override's Sprites stay in the mini-season is unconfirmed. Last time, collected Sprites stayed in your collection. See are Sprites leaving Fortnite? for the details.
If you have unmastered Crown variants, plan to finish them before the season ends. Epic's Battle Pass page lists Override's end as 1 November 2026 (ET), and some trackers say 31 October. Epic hasn't confirmed the downtime hour, so don't leave it until the last evening. Our season end time guide will have the hour once Epic posts it.
Respawn Rumble tips that actually win games
- Stay with your team. With 8 per side, a team that moves together beats the same team spread out. The 40-elimination race is usually decided by whoever has more players in each fight.
- Fight from the upper floors. Without building, height is one of the few advantages you can choose. Nightmare Neighborhood's two-storey houses give you it.
- Use siphon to chain fights. Every elimination heals you, so a quick follow-up push after a kill often beats backing off to heal.
- Split the week between modes. Collect new Sprites in Battle Royale during the Final Spritemare (2x Sprite XP plus a daily login Lucky Locator until 31 October), then use Respawn Rumble for Crown Sprite wins and elimination quests.
- Play quests and Sprites together. Equip a Crown Sprite and have elimination quests active. One win can level a Crown variant and move several quests at once.
FAQ
Is Respawn Rumble the same as Team Rumble? It replaced Team Rumble on 18 June 2025 (v36.10). The big differences are that Respawn Rumble is Zero Build only and fixed at 8v8 with a 40-elimination target. Team Rumble was a larger, build-enabled mode.
Is there a Fortnite Respawn Rumble code? No. Respawn Rumble is an Epic first-party mode, so it has no 12-digit island code. Find it in Discover under By Epic, or search "Respawn Rumble."
Why was Respawn Rumble disabled? On 15 October 2026 Epic disabled it to fix a Gizmo bug that let players farm Sprites with Lucky Locators without using them up. @FortniteStatus confirmed it was "back online" the same day.
Does a Respawn Rumble win count for the Crown Sprite? Players report that it does as of 28 October 2026, and several say they've mastered every Crown variant this way. Epic hasn't documented it, so equip the Sprite in the Battle Royale lobby first and check it registers after your first win.
Does Respawn Rumble give XP? Yes. You earn XP and progress Battle Royale Quests, and Epic's own description says so. Epic doesn't publish a per-match XP rate, and placement or map-specific quests still need regular Battle Royale.
Will Respawn Rumble still exist after Chapter 7 Season 4? Yes. It's a permanent core mode. Expect a new arena when v43.00 (Treasure Hunters) launches on 1 November 2026. Epic announces the location with the update, not before.
