Quick answer: The Once Human Halloween event for 2026 is Halloween Wonder Night. It runs from October 22 to November 11 (server time) on every platform and shipped with the Version 3.1.1 update that also launched Isles of Abyss. You complete event tasks to earn Blind Box opening attempts. Opening 5 boxes earns a Stardust Secret Crate. Getting a Hidden Edition among them upgrades that to the Epic prize with Pumpkin Seeds and a Halloween Lucky Crate. Opening boxes also gives you Candy Bait, which you place in your territory to attract the "Little Ones." They leave gifts that can include Jack-o'-Lantern Seeds, and those grow into wearable Jack-o'-Lantern Headgear. A free Spooky Night Check-In runs alongside it, and a Halloween shop tab opens October 28 (PT). There are two deadlines to remember: unused Blind Box attempts expire November 11, and every Jack-o'-Lantern Seed is removed after November 18 at 6:00 server time.
If you went looking for Halloween public events on the map and found nothing, you didn't miss anything. This year's Halloween content isn't a map event at all. It's a menu event plus a territory mini-game. One player on r/OnceHumanOfficial asked this weekend how to find the Halloween public events in Manibus because they "don't see them in the filter anywhere". That confusion is exactly why this guide exists. Every date, reward and rule below comes from the official Version 3.1.1 Update Announcement (October 21) on oncehuman.game and the studio's 3.1.1 Bug Fixes (October 23) post. Everything is checked as of October 26, 2026.
What is the Once Human Halloween event in 2026?
Halloween Wonder Night is a limited-time event bundle added in Version 3.1.1. Maintenance for that update started on October 21, 2026 at 4:00 PM PT (the studio estimated about 3 hours), and the event period is listed as starting October 22 in server time. It has four parts, plus a shop update:
| Part | What you do | Dates (2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Halloween Wonder Night (Blind Boxes) | Complete event tasks, earn Blind Box attempts, open boxes for Candy and collection prizes | Oct 22 – Nov 11 (server time) |
| Mysterious visitor (Candy Bait) | Place Candy Bait in your territory, and the Little Ones visit and leave gifts | Oct 22 – Nov 11 (server time) |
| Pumpkin planting | Plant Jack-o'-Lantern Seeds, water them, harvest wearable headgear | Oct 22 – Nov 11. Seeds removed after Nov 18, 6:00 server time |
| Spooky Night Check-In | Log in daily for Halloween rewards | Oct 22 – Nov 11 (server time) |
| Halloween shop tab | Paid Halloween cosmetics and returning sets | Opens Oct 28 (PT) |
The studio's own summary of the launch events says the Halloween events "launch simultaneously" with Isles of Abyss and pay out "Halloween limited cosmetics, Shiny Mods, and other luxurious rewards". The Shiny Mod is real, but it's one of the Blind Box progress-track rewards, not a drop from the boxes themselves. More on that below.
Two other limited events overlap with Halloween, and people often lump them together. The Ocean Cleanup event only runs in the Isles of Abyss scenario. The Mysterious Morphed Deviation event runs until December 30 (PT). Neither one is part of Halloween Wonder Night, and neither has a Halloween deadline.
How do Halloween Wonder Night Blind Boxes work?
This is the core of the event. Event tasks give you Blind Box opening attempts. Each time you open a box, you get a random-flavor Candy, and there's a chance it reveals a Hidden Edition.
There are two collection prizes, and you get the better one if a Hidden Edition shows up in your set:
| Collection | Prize (official wording) |
|---|---|
| 5 Regular Editions | Collection Prize: Stardust Secret Crate·S15 (Rare) ×1 |
| 4 Regular Editions + 1 Hidden Edition | Bonus Prize: Stardust Secret Crate·S15 (Epic) ×1, Halloween-exclusive Pumpkin Seeds ×1, Halloween Lucky Crate ×1 |
The Halloween Lucky Crate is the prize people want. The studio says opening it gives "a chance to get Halloween-exclusive Deviants, Halloween-exclusive Cosmetics, and other rare rewards." (The game's standard term is Deviations.)
There's a separate Progress Reward track that counts your total openings. When you hit the targets, you can claim a Stardust Secret Crate·S15 (Legendary), an exclusive furniture formula, a random Shiny Mod and more. If you've never chased a Shiny Mod, this is a fairly direct route. The usual paths are a random transformation when you get a duplicate Level 17 Mod, plus the Scenario Honor rating and Mod Collection Progress rewards the studio added in Version 3.0.1 (July 9, 2026). Our Once Human mods guide explains how the Mod system works after the overhaul.
Three rules from the announcement decide how you should spend your attempts:
- Attempts stack. You don't have to open boxes the moment you earn them.
- Attempts expire when the event ends on November 11. Any you haven't used are lost.
- The progress reward is once per account. In the studio's words: "Characters under the same account share the progress reward claim count (claimable once only)." An alt can't claim the Legendary crate a second time.
What the 3.1.1 announcement does not list: the exact task list, how many attempts each task gives, the Hidden Edition chance, and the progress-track thresholds. We won't guess at any of them. If you see a "1 in X" Hidden Edition rate on another site, it's a community estimate, not an official number.
What happened to my Blind Box attempts? (the scenario-transfer bug)
Some players lost Blind Box attempts during launch week. The studio confirmed the cause in its 3.1.1 Bug Fixes (October 23) post, which listed the fix among items due by 08:30 PT that day:
"Fixed an issue where Halloween Wonder Night event task progress was not retained across seasons. We will compensate the lost Blind Box attempts caused by the progress loss across seasons via mail within 2 business days. Please check your mail."
Once Human Development Team, 3.1.1 Bug Fixes (October 23), Steam news
What that means in practice:
- Who was hit: players whose event task progress didn't carry over when they moved between scenarios (the studio's notice calls them "seasons"). In launch week, that's most likely to affect anyone who moved a character into Isles of Abyss from another scenario. The studio hasn't said exactly which transfers triggered it.
- The fix: lost attempts are returned by mail, within two business days of October 23. Check your in-game mailbox on the character you were playing.
- What the compensation doesn't cover: anything else. The same week the studio sent a separate mail for players who got the wrong Deviation from the Isles of Abyss Deviation Selection Gift Box. That's a different bug with a different fix.
If two business days have passed since October 23 and you're still missing attempts, report it through the in-game support menu. Don't wait for the event to end, because attempts that land after November 11 are worthless.
How does Candy Bait work in Once Human?
When you open a Blind Box, you also get Candy Bait in random flavors. Place it inside your own territory or a Hive squad member's territory, and the studio says "mysterious guests" drawn by the smell will show up. The official name for these visitors is the Little Ones.
How good their gift is depends on how much they like the candy flavor. The possible gifts are:
- Halloween-exclusive Pumpkin Seeds
- Starchrom
- A chance at a Halloween Lucky Crate, the same crate as the Blind Box Bonus Prize, which can roll Halloween-exclusive Deviations and cosmetics
This is the one part of the event that needs a territory. If you've just arrived in Isles of Abyss and haven't put a territory down yet, you'll need your own or a Hive squadmate's before you can use your Candy Bait. Our base building guide for beginners gets you there quickly. If you play in a Hive, you can also drop bait in a squadmate's territory. The announcement names both options. Playing with friends on PS5, Xbox and PC covers how to get onto the same server first.
The announcement doesn't say which Little One prefers which flavor. The only rule it states is that a better-liked flavor means a better gift. If a guide gives you a "flavor chart", ask where it came from.
How do you grow a Jack-o'-Lantern in Once Human?
The gifts the Little Ones leave can include rare Jack-o'-Lantern Seeds. You also get one set of Pumpkin Seeds from the Blind Box Bonus Prize.
The official steps are:
- Plant the seed in soil inside your territory.
- Water it carefully and wait for it to mature.
- Harvest it. You get the limited-time Jack-o'-Lantern Headgear, which you wear on your head.
The announcement adds three rules, and each one catches players out:
- Fertilizer doesn't work. The studio says Jack-o'-Lanterns "contain a special ingredient that cannot be ripened by existing fertilizer". Your farm boosters won't speed them up.
- They're inedible. You can't eat them for food.
- The headgear only lasts 3 days. A harvested Jack-o'-Lantern "can be kept in your backpack for 3 days." So don't harvest early and forget about it. Harvest when you actually want to wear it, for example right before a Halloween night session with friends.
The hard deadline is that all Jack-o'-Lantern Seeds are taken away after November 18 at 6:00 (server time). That's a week after the event itself ends. The announcement doesn't say whether you can still plant seeds after November 11, so plant them as soon as you get them rather than counting on that week. Unopened Blind Box attempts get no extra time at all.
What does the Spooky Night Check-In give?
This is the free, low-effort part. Log in on each event day from October 22 to November 11 and complete the check-in. The official reward list includes:
- Lightforge Ingot
- Furniture Formula "Pumpkin Sugar Bowl"
- Advanced Dye
- "other Halloween-exclusive rewards"
The announcement doesn't give the day-by-day calendar or how many days you need for the final reward. If you're playing Isles of Abyss every day anyway, just open the check-in each session.
What is in the Once Human Halloween shop?
The paid side of Halloween goes live in two waves. Everything here is optional and doesn't affect the free event.
Live since October 21 (PT):
- Lightforge Loot Crate: Bone Path. This includes the legendary fashion set "Underworld Echo", the weapon skin "Blue Beak-MG4", the Deviation cosmetic "Luminous Night Cat - Extradimensional Cat", the facility skin "Storage Terminal - Secret Treasure" and the group action "Night of Tremors".
Halloween tab, opening October 28 (PT):
- Epic decoration pack "Terror Exhibition Hall" (21% off at launch)
- Rare fashion set "Neon Skeleton" (17% off at launch)
- "Halloween Themed Skin Collection" bundle (up to 25% off), which also adds the solo action "Mysterious Creature" and the formula "Spider's Web Hanging Chair"
- Halloween Return items: "Spectral Mirage Set" (34% off), "Whimsical Night Set" (31% off), the "Eternal Night Craze" furniture pack (36% off) and the Noir Legacy skins for SOCR, SKS and PDW90 (34% off each)
- Two Halloween-exclusive "200 Off 500 Crystgin" coupons in the Wish Bazaar during the same period
The coupons are the one thing worth noticing even if you don't plan to spend. If you were going to buy something on October 28 anyway, the coupon stacks with the launch discount.
Is the Halloween event on PS5 and Xbox?
Yes. Version 3.1.1 went out on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and mobile in the same maintenance window, and the Halloween Wonder Night announcement doesn't mention any platform restriction. Your event progress belongs to your account and character, not your device. So if you use cross-progression to play the same character on console and PC, it's the same event either way. Our crossplay and cross-progression guide explains how account linking works. Read its warning before you link two accounts that both have characters.
One console-specific note: the October 21 patch was large, about 12.29 GB on the PS5 launcher and 20.39 GB on Xbox, according to the announcement. If your console still shows an older build, finish that download before you go looking for the event.
Does Halloween Wonder Night work in every scenario?
The announcement only puts one event in this update behind a scenario lock, the Ocean Cleanup event ("only available in the Isles of Abyss scenario"). Halloween Wonder Night has no such note. The October 23 bug fix also refers to progress being carried "across seasons", which suggests the event follows you between scenarios. The studio hasn't said so in as many words, but nothing in the announcement requires you to move to Isles of Abyss to take part.
Two practical points if you are switching scenarios this week:
- Check your mail after you move. If the scenario-transfer bug cost you attempts, that's where the replacements arrive.
- Seeds and headgear live in your territory and backpack. If you plant on one scenario's territory and then leave, think about where the plant actually is. What carries over and what resets covers how territory and items move between scenarios.
What should you do first? (fast checklist)
If you're short on time, this order gets you the most value before the deadlines:
- Do the Spooky Night Check-In every day. It takes seconds and the rewards are fixed.
- Clear the event tasks and bank your Blind Box attempts. Open them in batches of five so you can see your collection progress.
- Place every Candy Bait in a territory. Use a Hive squadmate's territory if you don't have one yet.
- Plant Jack-o'-Lantern Seeds as soon as you get them, but only harvest when you'll wear the headgear within 3 days.
- Claim the Progress Reward on the character you play most. It's once per account.
- Open everything before November 11. Attempts left over after that are gone.
For the rest of the 3.1.1 update, including Isles of Abyss, the new SOCR - Cosmic Visitor blueprint (claimable from your mailbox until November 8, 2:00 PM PT) and the controller changes, see our Once Human 3.1.1 patch notes. The next scheduled update is November 4, 2026 at 3:00 PM PT. The October 23 bug-fix post refers to it as the November 5 version update, because that's the server-date view.
FAQ
When does the Once Human Halloween event end? Halloween Wonder Night, the Candy Bait visitors, pumpkin planting and the Spooky Night Check-In all run October 22 – November 11, 2026 (server time). Unused Blind Box attempts expire when it ends. Jack-o'-Lantern Seeds are removed after November 18 at 6:00 server time.
Why can't I find Halloween public events on the map? Because this year's Halloween content isn't a map public event. Halloween Wonder Night is a task-and-blind-box event, and its world-facing part, the Little Ones, only shows up in a territory where you've placed Candy Bait. Map filters won't show it.
Can I get the Halloween rewards on more than one character? Not the big one. The Blind Box Progress Reward (Legendary crate, furniture formula, Shiny Mod) is shared across your account and can only be claimed once. The announcement doesn't say whether check-ins and box openings are tracked per character or per account.
I lost Blind Box attempts after changing scenario. Will I get them back? Yes, if it was the scenario-transfer bug. On October 23 the studio said it would compensate "the lost Blind Box attempts caused by the progress loss across seasons via mail within 2 business days." Check your mailbox, and contact in-game support if they haven't arrived.
Can I use fertilizer on Jack-o'-Lanterns? No. The studio says they "cannot be ripened by existing fertilizer." You also can't eat them, and a harvested Jack-o'-Lantern only stays in your backpack for 3 days.
Is the Halloween event free? Yes. The Blind Boxes, Candy Bait, pumpkins and check-in are all earned by playing. Only the Bone Path crate and the October 28 Halloween shop tab cost Crystgin.
