PoE2 Xesht Guide: How to Reach & Beat the Breach Pinnacle Boss (Uul-Netol's Embrace, 0.5)

Path of Exile 2 Twisted Domain — the dark, organic Breach pinnacle arena of Xesht, We That Are One, lit by a purple Hiveborn glow

If you want the hardest fight in Path of Exile 2 right now — and the chase reward that comes with it — it's Xesht, We That Are One, the pinnacle boss of the Breach mechanic. In the Runes of Aldur league (patch 0.5 "Return of the Ancients"), Xesht sits at the very top of the reworked Breach endgame, and beating him drops the most-wanted gem of the league: Uul-Netol's Embrace.

The problem is that Xesht is gated behind a long crafting and progression chain, scales into a 14-million-HP wall at the top tier, and punishes greedy play with one-shots. Most players who ask "how do I even fight him?" aren't stuck on the mechanics — they're stuck on access. This guide is the full path end to end: how to build the Breachstone that gets you there, the three difficulty tiers and exactly how much HP each one has, every attack in the fight and how to dodge it, what Xesht drops, and what it's all worth in Divine Orbs. Every fact here is checked against the official PoE2 wiki and current 0.5 sources — not a stale tracker.

PoE2 Xesht in 30 seconds (the quick answer)

  • Who he is: Xesht, We That Are One — the pinnacle boss of Breach, leader of the Hiveborn, a failed fusion of the Breachlords (Xoph, Esh, Tul, Uul-Netol).
  • Where he is: the Twisted Domain, reached through a Realmgate after you've worked up the Breach chain — your Realmgate sits next to The Ziggurat Refuge on the Atlas.
  • How you unlock him: farm Breach Splinters → they convert into a Wombgift → craft a Breachstone at the Genesis Tree → clear the Breach Hive → Sky Hive → Hive Fortress ladder and defeat the Breachlords Tul & Esh to earn the key in.
  • The difficulty tiers: Xesht has three tiers set by how many splinters you feed the encounter — 50 / 100 / 150 splinters, scaling him to roughly 2.9M / 6.5M / 14.5M HP.
  • The chase drop: Uul-Netol's Embrace, a Lineage Support Gem (40% of physical damage as extra chaos, plus armour break) that trades for hundreds of Divine this league.
  • The #1 safe spot: stay close to him — most of his big attacks have long aim animations you can dodge by circling behind, forcing a slow 180° turn.
  • The shortcut: if you only want the loot, you can buy the Breachstones (players call them "sacs") and skip the farm, or take a carry for the kill.

Who is Xesht, We That Are One?

Xesht is the leader of the Hiveborn and the product of a failed fusion of the Breachlords — the wills of Xoph, Esh, Tul, and Uul-Netol crammed into one body. Because the fusion never completed, those wills clash against each other, which is what makes Xesht violent, ravenous, and — mechanically — able to summon the powers of the lords trapped inside him mid-fight. That lore detail isn't flavor padding: it's why the fight suddenly throws ice cones and lightning at you (more on that below).

"Ugh…! We That Failed…" — Xesht's own in-game death line. The fight is literally a fractured fusion arguing with itself, and that's the energy of the whole encounter.

In the 0.5 Breach rework ("Waking the Dreamer"), Breach is a war between the Keepers of the Flame and the Hiveborn, and Xesht is the apex of that whole system. Defeating him grants Breach Atlas Passive Points and is the only way to get his exclusive gem. If you've already run the Breach farming loop, Xesht is the payoff at the end of it.

How do you unlock Xesht? The full Breachstone path

This is the part that trips everyone up, so here's the chain in order. None of it is optional — Xesht is fully gated behind it.

  • Farm Breach Splinters. Run Atlas maps with Breach weighted on your passive tree. Breach monsters drop Breach Splinters (plus Hiveblood and the rarer Wombgifts).
  • Splinters become a Wombgift. A full stack of splinters auto-converts into a Wombgift (you'll see it tooltipped as a Revelatory Wombgift). If a stack ever looks "stuck," split one splinter off and merge it back to trigger the conversion — a common false "bug."
  • Craft a Breachstone at the Genesis Tree. Turn the Wombgift in at the Genesis Tree to craft a Breachstone. ⚠️ The Breachstone must be in your inventory for the Breach stronghold to appear and be pinpointable on the Atlas (right-click to locate) — this is the single most common "Breach is bugged" false alarm.
  • Climb the Breach Domain ladder. A Breachstone opens the Breach Domains, which escalate Breach Hive → Sky Hive → Hive Fortress. The Hive Fortress is a 24-wave defense around Ailith, First of the Keepers, followed by an escape-maze phase.
  • Beat Tul & Esh for the key. Defeating the paired Breachlords Tul and Esh in the Sky Fortresses rewards the key that unlocks the pinnacle — Xesht himself, in the Twisted Domain.

Once you're in, you face Xesht at the Realmgate, and the difficulty you get depends on how many splinters you commit.

How hard is Xesht? The three difficulty tiers

Xesht isn't one fight — he's three, scaled by how many Breach Splinters you invest when you open him. More splinters = a tankier, deadlier Xesht, but better loot odds and more guaranteed rewards.

TierSplinters investedApprox. Xesht HPWho it's for
Tier 150~2.90MFirst clears, learning the moveset
Tier 2100~6.48MGeared mid-game, farming the gem
Tier 3150~14.5MEndgame builds, max reward / Uul-Netol's farming

The jump from Tier 1 to Tier 3 is brutal — over 5× the health — and his damage scales with it. Don't bring a Tier 1 build to a Tier 3 stone; the fight has hard DPS-check transitions (see below) where a slow build simply runs out of room. If your character can't comfortably clear Tier 2, farm currency and gear up before you sink 150 splinters into a wipe.

Every Xesht attack and how to dodge it

The golden rule, straight from the boss-fight veterans: stay close to Xesht. Most of his dangerous attacks have long wind-up animations where he visibly aims at you — if you're hugging him, you can circle behind and force a slow 180° rotation, dodging the whole thing for free. Kiting at range is what gets people killed, because you eat the projectiles head-on.

Here's the full kit:

  • Finger Gun — a single-target air orb fired at you. Dodge-roll through it; trivial up close.
  • Triple Burst — three rapid projectiles in a row. Three consecutive dodges, or break line of sight by circling him.
  • Hand Smash — a tracking hand that slams down on your position. Watch for the shadow outline; dodge the instant it glows.
  • Burrow — Xesht goes underground, chases you, and erupts in a ground slash. Keep moving laterally and roll on the resurface.
  • Sun Orb — a slow-moving fire projectile. Easily side-stepped; don't panic-dodge into something worse.
  • Summon Tul — an icy hand that fires a barrage of ice cones. Freeze risk — carry freeze mitigation or you'll get locked and chained.
  • Summon Esh — a lightning hand that creates an expanding explosion. Get out of the radius early; it grows.
  • Arm Slams (60% HP transition) — at ~60% HP, multiple portal-arms emerge and attack in sequence. This is the first real DPS/positioning check — read the order and weave through the gaps.
  • Combo Summon (sub-60% HP) — past the transition he chains Tul and Esh abilities simultaneously: ice cones and expanding lightning at once. This is where undergeared builds die — you need the clear speed to burn him before the floor fills with overlapping hazards.

Player tip (paraphrased from r/PathOfExile2): veterans who've run Xesht dozens of times stress that the fight is a speed check far more than a mechanics check — the moveset is dodgeable, but the sub-60% combo phase punishes any build that can't keep its damage up while constantly repositioning.

What does Xesht drop? Uul-Netol's Embrace and more

The reason everyone farms Xesht is the chase gem:

Uul-Netol's Embrace is a Lineage Support Gem — not body armour, despite the name. It grants supported skills 40% of physical damage as extra chaos damage, and causes them to Break Armour equal to 20% of the chaos damage dealt. For physical-damage builds it's a massive multiplier, which is exactly why it commands a premium on the market. It only drops from Xesht, so the boss is the supply.

On top of the gem:

  • Otherworldly Book of Knowledge — the first time you beat each tier, Xesht drops one, granting 2 Breach Atlas Passive Points each. That's how you fund a dedicated Breach Atlas tree.
  • Breach uniques and crafting materials — Hiveblood, wombgifts, and tier-appropriate Breach drops, scaling up with the tier you ran.

Don't forget the mini-boss along the way: Vruun, Marshal of Xesht spawns in Stabilised Breaches (fill the Breach bar to 100%) and drops extra wombgifts — useful for crafting more Breachstones to keep the Xesht loop going.

Is Xesht worth farming in PoE2 0.5?

Yes — if your build can handle Tier 2+. Xesht is the single best source of Uul-Netol's Embrace, and that gem alone is one of the highest-value drops in Runes of Aldur, trading for hundreds of Divine Orbs when supply is tight (it dipped over the league as more players cleared him — always check poe.ninja for the live price). Add the Breach Atlas points and the per-tier uniques and a clean Tier 3 run is one of the most lucrative single fights in the game.

The honest caveat: Xesht is gated twice — once by the Breachstone farm, once by the build check. Feeding 150 splinters into a fight you can't finish is a real loss. If you're not there yet, the high-EV play is to sell your Breachstones and splinters (the "sacs" players trade) rather than die to the boss, gear up with currency, and come back when your damage can clear the sub-60% combo phase.

If you'd rather skip straight to the loot, timesaver.gg sells the orbs and currency to buy the Breachstones outright and the boss carries to get the Xesht kill (and the gem) done by pro players — no 150-splinter wipes.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get to Xesht in PoE2? Farm Breach Splinters in your maps until a stack converts into a Wombgift, craft a Breachstone at the Genesis Tree, then clear the Breach Hive → Sky Hive → Hive Fortress ladder and beat the Breachlords Tul and Esh to earn the key into the Twisted Domain. Your Realmgate to Xesht sits next to The Ziggurat Refuge on the Atlas, and the Breachstone must be in your inventory for it to appear.

How many Breach Splinters do I need for Xesht? He has three difficulty tiers set by splinter investment — 50, 100, or 150 splinters, scaling Xesht to roughly 2.9M, 6.5M, and 14.5M HP respectively. Start at 50 to learn the fight; only feed 150 once your build can clear Tier 2 comfortably.

What does Xesht drop? His chase reward is Uul-Netol's Embrace, a Lineage Support Gem (40% of physical damage as extra chaos + armour break). The first clear of each tier also drops an Otherworldly Book of Knowledge worth 2 Breach Atlas Passive Points, plus Breach uniques and crafting materials that scale with the tier.

Is Uul-Netol's Embrace armour? No — despite the name it's a Lineage Support Gem, not body armour. It's a physical-to-chaos conversion support that only drops from Xesht, which is why it holds a high price. Always check poe.ninja for the live value before buying or selling.

What's the safest way to fight Xesht? Stay close to him. Most of his attacks — Finger Gun, Triple Burst, Hand Smash — have long aim animations you can dodge by circling behind and forcing a slow 180° turn. The danger spike is the sub-60% HP phase, where he summons Tul's ice cones and Esh's expanding lightning at the same time; bring freeze mitigation and enough damage to burn him before hazards stack up.

Can I buy a Xesht carry or the Breachstones? Yes. Players routinely trade Breachstones (the "sacs") so you can skip the farm, and timesaver.gg offers PoE2 boss carries for the kill itself plus the currency to fund it. Keep all in-game trading legitimate, and treat poe.ninja as the source of truth on live prices before any big conversion.
