Assault is the track that changed the most in WARDOGS Season 2, because it now has a job. Update 0.2.0, live since 15 October 2026, turned Assault into the role for attacking enemy bases: C4 and the Remote Detonator moved in from Support, the new Molotov joined it, and the new TCX-SPR assault rifle took the M4's old slot at level 20. Destroying buildables and using IED/C4 now pay Assault XP too.

The other half of the question is money. A 46-comment r/WarDogs thread from 24 October is titled "Can't make money playing assault". This guide covers every Assault unlock BULKHEAD added or moved for Season 2, what each one costs to unlock and to carry every life, and the Season 2 rewards that make Assault pay.

Quick answer: In WARDOGS Season 2 the Remote Detonator + C4 Charge unlock at Assault level 4 (moved from Support level 2). The new Molotov Cocktail unlocks at Assault level 13 for $25,000 and costs $340 per life. The new TCX-SPR assault rifle unlocks at Assault level 20 for $100,000 and costs $3,200 per life. The M4 moved from level 20 to 28 and its unlock fee rose to $150,000; the FAL unlock fee rose to $250,000. The AK74 is now free by default. For money, kills with an assault archetype weapon now pay $2,000 (was $1,500), and destroying an enemy FOB pays a bonus of up to $7,500.

Updated 25 October 2026. Applies to WARDOGS Season 2, Update 0.2.0 (patch notes posted on Steam 14 October 2026, season live 15 October 2026). WARDOGS is BULKHEAD's 100-player, three-team Control Zone shooter on PC. It is not a battle royale or an extraction shooter. Every level, price and reward below comes from the official Season 02 Patch Notes unless it's marked as a player report.

What is the Assault track in WARDOGS Season 2?

BULKHEAD's own summary of the Assault section, verbatim from the Season 02 Patch Notes: "Assault is now the role for attacking enemy bases. C4 moves into the Assault track and the new Molotov Cocktail joins it, giving Assault players better tools against buildables."

In Season 1 the base-breaking tools sat on Support. Season 2 moved them, and moved the XP with them. From the Altered Action Role Rewards section of the same notes:

  • "Destroying a buildable now gives assault XP instead of support."
  • "IED/C4 now give assault XP instead of support."

So in Season 2, Assault is two things at once: the rifle track (AK74, T-21, TCX-SPR, M4, FAL and their attachments) and the demolition track (C4, Molotov, breaching enemy FOBs). If you only run a rifle and never touch an enemy base, you are leaving most of the role's new rewards on the table.

What are the new Assault unlock levels and fees?

Every item in WARDOGS has two gates. A level on its progression track makes it available, usually with a one-time unlock fee in Cash. After that you pay a per-life vendor price every time you deploy with it. This table lists every Assault unlock the Season 02 Patch Notes added or moved, sorted by Season 2 level. Where a fee isn't shown, the notes didn't list one. Assault items the notes didn't touch aren't listed.

A few things moved out of Assault, too. The Tricon 1.5x Compact Prism Scope (was Assault 12) and Spitfire 3X (was Assault 26) went to the WARDOG track at 26 and 31. The Holographic Sight and AFG Angled Foregrip went to Medic, and the 4x Combat Prism Scope with Reflex went to Support level 21.

How much do Assault weapons cost per life in Season 2?

Unlock fees are one-off. Per-life prices are what you pay every deployment, and they decide whether an Assault loadout makes or loses Cash. From the Season 02 Patch Notes vendor tables:

ItemAssault level (S2)Unlock fee (S2)Per-life price (S2)
AK74defaultfree$800 (was $1,600)
T-213$10,000$1,200 (was $600)
Remote Detonator4not listed$650 (was $550)
Molotov Cocktail13$25,000$340 (new)
TCX-SPR20$100,000$3,200 (new)
TCX-SPR 28 RND Magazine20with the gun$50 (new)
Cross Rifle Muzzle Brake32$35,000$780 (new)
Clutch Lok Muzzle Brake37$37,500$1,100 (new)
SRD762TI-QD Suppressor40$40,000$1,350 (new)
FALnot listed$250,000$6,000 (was $6,500)
Birdcage Flash Hider2$5,000$600 (was $900)
RC-556 Suppressor24not listed$1,310 (was $1,550)

The cheapest change matters most. The AK74 halved to $800 a life and is now unlocked by default, so a brand-new player has a usable rifle for less than the price of a Level 3 helmet ($2,000). The T-21 doubled to $1,200. The new TCX-SPR sits in the middle at $3,200, just over half the price of a FAL ($6,000). The M4's per-life price isn't in the notes.

How do you make money playing Assault in WARDOGS?

This is the question players keep asking. The r/WarDogs thread asks why a decent kill-to-death ratio doesn't turn into Cash. One reply answered: "You keep talking about kd, but deaths aren't deaths. What matters is whether or not you play in a way that gets you revived." Another put it shorter: "Kd doesnt make you profitable, not having to rebuy your kit does." Those are player opinions, but they match how the economy works: every death costs you the full per-life price of your kit, and a revive doesn't.

Season 2 also added several rewards that only pay off if you play Assault the way BULKHEAD now intends. From the Cash & XP Reward Changes section:

ActionSeason 2 reward
Kill with an assault archetype weapon$2,000 (was $1,500)
Hack an enemy FOB$2,500 / 250 XP to the hacker, plus $1,000 / 250 XP to each teammate in the FOB radius (new)
Destroy an enemy FOBbonus of up to +$7,500 / +250 XP, based on the supplies it held (maxed at 25,000 supplies)
Destroy a buildableCash equal to its build supply cost, XP about 25% of that, scaled by how built it is
Capture a hostile drill tower$1,500 / 300 XP (was $750 / 250 XP)
Breach a door with the Halligan Bar$100, once per door (new)

The notes don't list exactly which guns count as "assault archetype" weapons. They use "archetype" for weapon categories such as assault rifles, DMRs and LMGs, and they put the FAL in the assault rifle category.

Here's what that means in practice (our maths, using the per-life prices above):

  • A TCX-SPR kit with Level 3 armor and helmet costs about $7,750 a life ($3,200 gun + $50 magazine + $2,500 armor + $2,000 helmet). Four assault-weapon kills at $2,000 each cover it. A single maxed FOB destroy bonus nearly covers it on its own.
  • An AK74 with the same armor costs about $5,300. If you're losing money, drop the gun price before you drop the armor.
  • A FOB raid pays the whole squad. Every teammate inside the radius gets $1,000 when one of you hacks it.

The catch with staying close to your team is that kills get scarce. One player in the thread said that with "15-20 of you in the HZ, chances are you're not going to get much action." Enemy FOBs, drill towers and their builders are where Season 2 Assault gets paid. BULKHEAD's Hot Zone pays double Cash (per its pre-launch "Top Questions" announcement), so when you are in it, stay near a medic. Our FOB guide covers how FOBs work from the builder's side, which helps when you're the one breaking them.

What's the best Assault unlock order in Season 2?

You can't skip levels, but you choose which unlock fees to pay and when. Here's the route we'd take, with every fee from the Season 02 Patch Notes:

  • Level 1 to 3: AK74 (free), then the T-21 at level 3 for $10,000. The T-21 comes with its STANAG 30-round magazine for free. The AK74 is cheaper to carry ($800 vs $1,200), so many players will stay on it.
  • Level 4: Remote Detonator + C4. This is what makes the role pay in Season 2: FOB and buildable destruction, and the XP that comes with it.
  • Level 13: Molotov Cocktail, $25,000. BULKHEAD added it specifically for buildables. It costs only $340 to carry. The notes say rain reduces Molotov fire, so it's weaker in the new rain preset.
  • Level 14: CQR Tactical Front Rail Grip, $10,000. It dropped 24 levels and got cheaper.
  • Level 20: TCX-SPR, $100,000. The new mid-tier assault rifle, and $3,200 a life.
  • Skip the M4 at 28 and the FAL unless you have spare Cash. The M4 now costs $150,000 to unlock and the FAL $250,000, and the TCX-SPR fills the same role for less.

The core route (T-21, Molotov, CQR grip, TCX-SPR) costs $145,000 in listed unlock fees by level 20, plus the C4 fee, which the notes don't give. The two TCX-SPR muzzle brakes and the suppressor at 32, 37 and 40 add another $112,500. If you need more Cash, our WARDOGS money guide covers the Season 2 earning methods that still pay.

Is the TCX-SPR worth it over the M4 and FAL?

BULKHEAD's Season 2 damage pass decided a lot of this. From the Combat Balance section: ".308 Winchester -25%", and "The FAL still has the highest damage-per-shot within the assault rifle category, but now sits closer to the TCX-SPR and M4." Assault rifle body shots also do "slightly less damage" across the board, with torso damage made more even.

So in Season 2:

  • TCX-SPR: level 20, $100,000 to unlock, $3,200 a life. BULKHEAD placed it alongside the M4, below the FAL on damage per shot.
  • M4: pushed back to level 28 and up to $150,000 to unlock. Its per-life price isn't listed. BULKHEAD's own note on the move: "TCX-SPR takes its place."
  • FAL: still the hardest-hitting assault rifle, but now closer to the others, at $250,000 to unlock and $6,000 a life.

Our read: for most players the TCX-SPR is the sensible Season 2 rifle. It unlocks earlier than the M4, costs the least of the three to unlock, and is just over half the FAL's per-life cost. The FAL makes sense only if you rarely die, because every death costs $6,000.

How fast does Assault level in Season 2?

Every role track uses the same XP curve, and Season 2 made it much faster. BULKHEAD, verbatim: "Reaching level 20 now takes less than half the playtime it did in Season 1." Total XP required, from the Season 02 Patch Notes:

Track levelSeason 1 XPSeason 2 XPChange
1035,00025,00029% quicker
15110,00054,75050% quicker
20250,000111,50055% quicker
25365,000206,60043% quicker
30500,000318,20036% quicker
40975,000712,50027% quicker

The Molotov at 13 sits under the 54,750 XP mark for level 15. The TCX-SPR at 20 needs 111,500 XP. The SRD762TI-QD suppressor at 40 needs 712,500 XP, more than six times as much.

BULKHEAD names two actions that now credit Assault XP: destroying buildables and IED/C4. It also gives Cash and XP values for FOB hacks, drill tower captures and assault-weapon kills, but doesn't say which track that XP goes to, so we won't guess at a full per-action table.

Will Assault levels reset in Season 3?

Yes, assuming Season 3 follows the same rules. BULKHEAD's seasonal model resets Cash and track XP at each wipe, while Gold Bars and cosmetics stay on your account. On 17 October 2026 the official @WARDOGS account said Season 3 could be brought forward "significantly". On BULKHEAD's official podcast THE HOTZONE, Episode 1 (24 October 2026), the team said Season 2 will wipe earlier: "instead of it being like a six, seven, eight week season, four, five." Counted from the 15 October start, that points to mid-November, but there's still no official date. The team also said it plans longer seasons after that: "like a three month season with like a smaller update in the halfway." That makes every unlock fee in this guide a season-scoped spend: a $100,000 TCX-SPR only lasts until the next wipe. Our Season 3 release date tracker has the latest.

For the other Season 2 role tracks, see the Support unlocks guide, the Medic unlocks guide and the Recon unlocks guide.
