How to get Violet-Backed Skyfang in WoW Midnight
Raise your Warband to Renown 19 with Zul'jarra's Forces, the Coiled Isle renown faction added in patch 12.1, then pay 8,000 Voidlight Marl to Jan'sari the Watchful at Tokka's Landing (58.78, 45.95). The mount is a guaranteed vendor purchase — there is no drop roll — so the entire job is the renown climb plus the Marl bill.
Renown 19 and the 8,000 Marl bill
Zul'jarra's Forces is the fifth major renown faction of Midnight and caps at Renown 20, which means rank 19 sits at the very end of the track. Renown is earned Warband-wide from a wide spread of sources:
- Coiled Isle world quests and Special Assignments;
- the weekly Purging the Vaults quest in the Vaults of Atal'Utek — 500 reputation in a single turn-in;
- the zone campaign and side quests;
- first kills of Coiled Isle rares (50 rep each) and the zone's 22 one-time treasures (50 rep each);
- Curse Surge world events, Vaults of Atal'Utek activities, Bountiful Delve caches and the Silvermoon dungeon weeklies;
- the weekly Contract: Zul'jarra's Forces inscription, which adds reputation to world quests completed anywhere in Midnight.
Voidlight Marl is Midnight's expansion-wide vendor currency, and 8,000 is a renown-quartermaster-sized bill. It comes from world quests (with a War Mode bonus if enabled), events and Curse Surge satchels across all Midnight zones, and the track itself gifts 500, 1,000 and 2,000 Marl at Renown 6, 12 and 18, which we bank toward the purchase. Blizzard has not published a weekly renown cap for the faction, so the pace is set by how many sources get cleared each day and each reset. The only weekly rhythm that matters is the reset, when Purging the Vaults, the Contract and the dungeon weeklies come around again.
How long it takes
The honest answer: from a fresh track this is a multi-week job. The faction launched with patch 12.1 in early August 2026, Renown 19 is nearly the whole ladder, and the biggest single chunks — the 500-rep Purging the Vaults, the Contract, the dungeon weeklies — only come once per reset. Expect several weeks whose exact count depends on how many resets the farm spans; we clear every daily source in between to compress it, and quote a tighter window once we see your current rank. Two ranks earlier on the same track sits the Indigo Coiled Horror — it unlocks at Renown 17 from the same vendor, and most buyers who climb to 19 take both, since the second mount only adds a Marl bill.
