Black Temple still requires attunement on the TBC Anniversary realms. Blizzard kept it — it was only removed from retail in patch 2.4, and Phase 3 is pre-2.4. The chain starts at $53.10 here and a full attunement is $287.10.
The part nobody sequences correctly: the step An Artifact From the Past needs a Rage Winterchill kill, which is inside The Battle for Mount Hyjal. So Hyjal attunement is a prerequisite for Black Temple attunement, not an alternative to it.
What the chain actually is:
- Tablets of Baa’ri from Anchorite Ceyla (Aldor) or Arcanist Thelis (Scryers) in Shadowmoon Valley;
- Oronu the Elder, the four Ashtongue Corruptors, the Warden’s Cage and Zandras;
- Seer Udalo in The Arcatraz — the only 5-man step;
- Shadowlord Deathwail on the Ata’mal Terrace for the Heart of Fury;
- three raid gates: Fathom-Lord Karathress (Serpentshrine), Al’ar (Tempest Keep, killed in the Ashtongue Cowl) and Rage Winterchill (Mount Hyjal);
- A Distraction for Akama, the quest that grants the Medallion of Karabor.
After you kill Illidan the medallion upgrades to the Blessed Medallion of Karabor, which teleports you to the Black Temple gates.
How it is delivered: piloted by default, or Self-play Remote for 30% more. Manual play, no bots. Phase 3 opened 27 August 2026.
