How Tarkov seasons replaced the wipe
For most of Escape from Tarkov's life, a “wipe” meant Battlestate Games reset every player's account — levels, stash, quests, hideout, all back to zero — every few months alongside a major patch. That reset is what the searches “next Tarkov wipe” and “new Tarkov wipe” were really asking about. The 1.0 release on 15 Nov 2025 was the last time that happened. Since 1.0, your permanent PMC is never wiped — progress persists.
In its place, BSG introduced opt-in seasons. Each season is a time-limited fresh-start realm on a separate seasonal character: everyone begins from zero, plays under a shared ruleset of selectable modifiers, chases a seasonal Battle Pass and tasks, and competes over the season window — then the seasonal character resets while your main profile stays intact. Kord Breach is Season 1, themed around the Black Division storyline, launching July 2026 for a confirmed minimum of 74 days. This tracker projects the countdown from the committed schedule and flips automatically from Upcoming to Live to Ended, so it stays correct without a redeploy. Schedule last verified 2026-07-05.
Frequently asked questions
- When is the next Tarkov wipe?
- Escape from Tarkov no longer runs traditional account wipes. Since the 1.0 launch on 15 November 2025, your permanent PMC is never wiped. Instead, BSG runs opt-in seasonal fresh-start realms. The next one — Season 1, "Kord Breach" — launches in July 2026 (exact day still to be confirmed by BSG). The live countdown above tracks it in your local time.
- Does Tarkov still wipe in 2026?
- Not in the old sense. Traditional periodic wipes ended after the 1.0 release (which was itself the final full wipe, on 15 November 2025). In 2026 your main profile keeps all progress permanently. If you want a fresh start you opt in to a season on a separate seasonal character — nobody is forced to reset.
- When does Kord Breach start and end?
- Kord Breach (Season 1) is confirmed for mid-July 2026, but BSG has not announced an exact calendar day, so this tracker uses a community estimate. From BSG screenshots the season runs a minimum of 74 days and is expected to run through late 2026; trackers estimate an end around 1 November 2026. Both dates are marked estimated on this page and will update the moment BSG confirms them.
- Do I lose my account in a Tarkov season?
- No. Seasons are opt-in. You create a separate seasonal character for Kord Breach while your permanent profile stays completely untouched. When the season ends, only the seasonal character resets — your main PMC, stash and progress remain.
- How long is Kord Breach?
- The confirmed minimum length is 74 days, based on BSG's own season-timer screenshots. Community trackers estimate the full season runs roughly July to November 2026 (about 109 days), but BSG has said the schedule may be adjusted, so treat the end date as an estimate.
- What are the Kord Breach modifiers?
- Season 1 uses a player-selectable modifier system: you choose positive and negative modifiers to tune your own difficulty. Confirmed hardcore options include things like No Insurance, No Flea Market and Armor Shortage. There is also a Black Division seasonal Battle Pass with seasonal tasks and the TarCoins cosmetics currency. Some specifics (per-modifier effects, any XP/loot multipliers) are still community-interpreted rather than fully confirmed.
- What is a Tarkov season?
- A season is an opt-in, time-limited fresh-start realm that replaces the old wipe. Everyone who joins starts from zero on a seasonal character, plays under a shared seasonal ruleset (modifiers, tasks, Battle Pass), and competes over the season window. It brings back the early-wipe "everyone re-grinds" excitement without forcing a reset on players who do not want one.
- How often will Tarkov seasons run?
- BSG has not published an official cadence yet. Season 1 (Kord Breach) is the first, and a Season 2 has been teased but not dated. This tracker will re-spike and update each time a new season is announced.
