AION 2 Soul Binding Guide: Sync Odds, Reset Cost & Best Lines (Nov 2026)

AION 2 item tooltips for Soul Codex (Bound) and Soul Codex: Reset (Bound)

Soul Binding feels like the slowest grind in AION 2, and r/Aion2 spent 2 November arguing about it. One player said a line listed at 25 Syncs had already taken them 150+ attempts over two weeks. Another asked whether 2 million Kina per Sync material is worth paying at all.

This guide answers both with the odds per slot, what each action costs, and when to stop. All figures apply to the AION 2 Global client as of the 28 October 2026 patch, before the 4 November Ludra update. NC publishes no Soul Binding tables in English, so odds and costs below are client data read by third-party sites, and each is credited.

Quick answer: Soul Binding unlocks 3 to 5 random lines on Unique gear. Bind raises their values, Sync rerolls one line, and Reset rerolls all of them for 300,000 Kina and 3 Soul Codex: Reset. The best lines roll just 0.96% to 3.2% per try, so a single line averages 31 to 104 Syncs. Roll cheap item level 36 to 41 pieces, keep one with a chase line, Sync with spares, take it to +15, Transfer it, and raise the binding rate last.

What does Soul Binding do in AION 2?

Soul Binding unlocks an item's hidden random lines and ties that item to your character. From then on it can't be traded. Open Enhancement with N, then the Soul Binding tab, and you get three buttons: Bind, Sync and Reset.

The number of lines depends on grade, per AION 2 Tier List's client read: Common 1, Rare 2, Epic 3, Unique 3 to 5. Most top gear has 4 or 5. Crafted Dragon Lord weapons have 5, while weapons with +2 m reach, such as Enraged Kromede, have 3.

Each line is a stat or a skill level. A skill line always sits at 100%, so Bind does nothing for it. Game8's rate table shows why skill lines turn up so often: every slot's stat rows add up to about 80%, and the rest goes to skills.

One thing it won't do is get you into Ludra. Aion2Data's Item Level formula, which matched 15 of 15 displayed totals, has no Soul Binding term. Rerolling lines raises Combat Power, not gear score. If you're short of 2,800 for 4 November, read the gear score guide first and come back here.

What are the odds for every Soul Binding line?

These are the chances that one roll lands the line. The percentages come from Game8's table, and they equal the pool weights AION 2 Tier List reads from the client, less the 20% of rolls that go to skills. That explains why one site says 4% and another 3.2% for the same line: both are right, and 3.2% is the one you actually play with.

"Average Syncs" is 1 ÷ chance. "Unlucky" is the count that about 1 player in 20 will reach without a hit. Both are fixed-chance estimates.

Two notes on those numbers. Game8's table, dated 8 October, has no necklace row for Combat Speed or Might, so those two come from AION 2 Tier List's client read. And the sources don't fully agree: a creator reported seeing 1.1% for Perfect Chance in the window rather than 0.96%, and simulations shared on r/Aion2 land near 25 for a 3.2% line, so the pool may shift with what's already on the piece. NC hasn't documented this. The percentage button in your own Sync window is the final word.

That 150-attempt player had rotten luck rather than a broken game. At 3.2%, about 1 player in 130 goes 150 Syncs without a hit.

How much does Bind cost?

Bind spends Kina and Soul Codex to raise the Soul Binding Rate, which pushes each line toward its maximum. On Unique gear the client has 10 cost steps:

StepKinaSoul Codex
130,00010
242,00012
359,00016
483,00021
5117,00027
6164,00036
7230,00046
8322,00060
9451,00078
10632,000102

That comes to 2,130,000 Kina and 408 Soul Codex per item. Gains per step vary, and the last few percent are the slowest. Codex spent on a line you later replace is gone, so Bind comes last.

The first Bind has another job: it reveals a fresh piece's lines. That's why step 1 is the cheapest roll in the system.

Sync or Reset: which should you use?

Sync when the piece already has one or two chase lines. Reset only when it has none and you can't cheaply replace it.

Sync rerolls one line you pick and keeps the rest. It consumes a Unique item or a Sync Stone, and Game8's capture shows 100% Success Chance on Unique boots with Unique material. The 100% means the swap happens, not that you get the line you want. The new line is random.

Check the Success Chance line before you press Sync. It reads 0% until you've selected a line and material, and lower-grade material can't be relied on for Unique gear.

Reset, the Rebind button, rerolls every line. On Unique gear it costs 300,000 Kina and 3 Soul Codex: Reset. A capture on Epic gloves shows 150,000 Kina and 2 books. The game warns you plainly:

"The current binding effects will change."

Save your Reset books for accessories. notXeon points out that accessories don't drop in the open world or from the Shugo Festival, so the cheap-piece route below mostly doesn't exist for them.

What is the cheapest way to get good lines?

Roll cheap Unique pieces, then Transfer the winner. Unique gear starts at item level 36, and the Tier List's client read says pools are the same for every grade and item level, so a 36 piece rolls the same lines at the same odds as an 86. Only the value range changes.

The math favors it. A fresh 4-line piece gets four rolls at once, while a Sync gets one. On a weapon, the three damage lines total 8% per roll:

  • One Sync finds any of them about 1 time in 12.5
  • One fresh 4-line piece has at least one about 28% of the time, or 1 in 3.5
  • A fresh piece costs one Bind (30,000 Kina and 10 Soul Codex) plus the piece itself

Creators report 0.9 to 1.5 million Kina per piece on the Market, and one player put it at 2 million on their server. Named level 45 monsters in Verteron and Altgard drop item level 36 and 41 Unique gear, and Abyss Krall packs drop the Courage set.

Here's the route, in order:

  • Roll. Bind each cheap piece once and read its lines.
  • Keep the best starter. Take the piece with a line you want, and between two good lines keep the rarer one if you'll want both in the end.
  • Sync with the losers. Spare pieces are your material, so failed rolls aren't wasted.
  • Enhance to +15. MetaBot puts +0 to +15 at about 5.31M Kina and 67,300 Enhance Stones at item level 36, against about 12.6M at item level 86. That's roughly 7.3M saved per piece.
  • Transfer onto the item you actually want to wear.
  • Bind last. Raise the rate once the lines are final.

The Damage Boost example shows why rarity matters at step 2. Say two weapons rolled, one with Combat Speed and one with Damage Boost. You want all three lines eventually. Starting from Damage Boost, the remaining two average about 47 Syncs. Starting from Combat Speed, they average about 73. Keep the Damage Boost one.

That rule stops at lines you actually want. AION 2 Tier List's best rolls breakdown calls Perfect Chance "the trap": as rare as Double Chance but worth about a sixth as much per point on Global. Don't keep a Perfect Chance chest over a Damage Boost one for rarity alone.

What carries over in a Transfer?

Enhance level, Amplify level and Soul Binding lines move; the rest stays behind. See the full gear transfer guide for the ilvl 70 trap. The rules that matter here:

  • Both pieces must be soul bound to the same character, and the donor is consumed.
  • Manastones, Theostones, Potential and the Soul Fuse line don't move.
  • Fewer lines on the target means a random selection survives. An Enraged Kromede weapon keeps 3 of your 4.
  • Crafted weapons have 5 lines. Abyssal weapons have 4, which is the same as most gear.
  • Players report the target must be fresh: +0 and never transferred onto. Treat that as reported, not NC-confirmed.
  • AION 2 Tier List says the number of transfers is limited per season, so don't burn them on small upgrades.

NC widened the route on 28 October. The patch notes read: "Transfer from Tier 3 Expedition Gear to Tier 2 Crafted Gear will now be possible." Their example is Enraged Kromede Necklace → White Dragon Lord Necklace. That matters for accessories, where you most need to protect good lines.

Where do Soul Codex and Reset books come from?

Both are bound, so you can't buy them from other players.

Two NC events hand out books, live or about to start. The Kina fee per Reset still applies:

Is Soul Fuse worth it?

Only on a piece you'll keep for a long time. At 100% Soul Binding Rate, 2 Philosopher's Stones: Revelation and 1,000,000 Kina add one extra line, always successful on Unique gear. That line doesn't survive a Transfer, so it dies at your next upgrade.

The stones are scarce. Creators list the Season Shop at 30,000 Oath Coin each, 2 per account until 16 December, plus a low drop chance from Hard Expeditions with a guaranteed pick after 28 claims. Your Ludra weapon is the obvious target. A mid-tier armour piece isn't.

When should you stop rerolling?

Stop at one or two chase lines per piece unless your spares are free. If you buy material at 1M a piece, a 1.6% line averages 62M Kina. Full +15 on item level 86 averages 12.6M, so that one line costs five full enhances. A 0.96% line averages 104M.

The sensible split, in spending order:

  • Worth paying for: fixing a dead HP or MP line on your weapon, guard and gloves using spares you already own.
  • Farm only: third and fourth chase lines. Bad Unique drops from your own runs and field bosses feed this for free.
  • Skip for now: 0.96% lines on helmet, pants and cape. notXeon and Arthars Gaming both advise fixing the worst line on every piece before chasing perfect lines on one.

If you chase Combat Speed, note that r/Aion2 players report breakpoints where extra speed adds no DPS, and nobody has mapped them on Global yet.

FAQ

What is Soul Binding Rate in AION 2? It shows how close an item's stat lines are to their maximum values. Bind raises it with Soul Codex and Kina, and 100% unlocks Soul Fuse. Skill lines always sit at 100%.

Can you remove Soul Binding? No. A bound item stays bound to your character. You can reroll its lines with Sync or Reset, or move them with Transfer.

Does Sync always succeed? Captures with Unique material show 100%, which means the line gets replaced. The material's grade and item level can change that number, so check it first. The new line is random, and the one you want may take dozens of tries.

Can I use another character's bound gear as Sync material? No. AION 2 Tier List says gear bound to one character can't be used by another, even as material. Keep alt drops unbound if you plan to pass them to your main through storage.

Should I Soul Bind or enhance first? Roll lines first, then enhance, then Bind the rate. Enhancing a piece you later replace wastes stones unless you Transfer it.

Do Soul Binding lines carry to new gear next season? They can, through Transfer, and players expect to keep moving them up. The per-season Transfer limit is the catch, and NC hasn't published Season 2 gear rules for Global.

The bottom line

Soul Binding rewards patience and punishes Kina. Roll cheap, keep the rarest line you actually want, Sync with spares, enhance low, Transfer, and Bind last. Stop at two chase lines until the drops are paying for it.
