A 59-comment r/Aion2 thread on 1 November called Odyle Energy a gatekeep against free players. The rule behind that complaint is simple, but the numbers around it changed on 28 October, and many guides still print the old ones. This guide gives the current recharge, cap, cube costs and weekly limits, as of 1 November 2026. It also shows how much energy a week of play actually needs.
Quick answer: Odyle Energy opens the reward cube at the end of Expedition, Transcendence and Sanctuary runs. It refills 15 every 3 hours (120 a day, 840 a week) and caps at 560, or 840 with Membership, according to client data. Most cubes cost 40. The biggest source right now is NC's Ludra boost: 4 Odyle Energy items per account per day by mail until the 10 November (PST) / 11 November (CET) maintenance. That's 160 energy a day. Mail expires after 7 days, so open it now.

What does Odyle Energy do in AION 2?
It pays for dungeon loot. It doesn't pay for entry. You can clear an Expedition, Transcendence or Sanctuary run with an empty bar, but the reward cube at the end stays shut until you inject energy.
Four things get mixed up here:
- Odyle Energy is the bar at the top of the Expedition screen.
- Odyle Energy (Bound) is an item worth +40, and Small Odyle Energy (Bound) is worth +10.
- Odyle, Fine Odyle, Pure Odyle and Radiant Odyle are gathering materials. One recipe turns them into energy items, but they aren't energy.
- Reward counts are a separate limit. Conquest gives 1 count every 8 hours up to 21, and Transcendence gives 1 every 12 hours up to 14, according to MetaBot's client read.
Don't walk away from a cube you can't afford. Leaving without it uses an Unobtained Cube count, and you get 10 of those per week per server. MetaBot's tooltip read says that at 0 you can't enter Conquest or Transcendence until the weekly reset.
How fast does Odyle Energy recharge?
The bar gains 15 energy every 3 hours from level 22, and each character has its own bar. NC hasn't published a Global rate, so these figures come from client-data trackers (MetaBot, AION2 Dex):
| Free player | With Membership | |
|---|---|---|
| Recharge | 15 every 3 hours | 15 every 3 hours |
| Per day | 120 | 120 |
| Per week | 840 | 840 |
| Base cap | 560 | 840 |
| Empty to full | About 4 days 16 hours | 7 days |
| Cube injections | 1 | 2 |
Membership doesn't refill you faster on these figures. It gives you a bigger tank and a second injection per cube. Some older guides say 10 every 3 hours for free players, which traces back to reports on the Korean service. Hover over your own bar to confirm: the tooltip shows the amount per cycle.
The cap decides how often you need to log in. Starting from empty, a free player who stays away for more than about 4 days and 16 hours loses 15 energy every 3 hours after that. A member can leave it for a full week.
The tooltip shows two pools. This capture, via Game8, comes from a client ahead of Global, so the dungeon on screen isn't live here yet.
Those two pools matter. Basic Energy is the bar that refills itself. Charged Energy comes from items, and the capture shows a 2,000 limit, which AION2 Dex also lists from client data. The tooltip says Basic Energy is spent first. So items stack on top of your cap, and a full base bar is no reason to hold back an item.
What does a cube cost?
Most cubes cost 40 on Global. These are the exceptions, from AION2 Dex's client table:
| Content | Cost per cube |
|---|---|
| Krao Cave Exploration | 20 |
| Urugugu Canyon Exploration | 20 |
| Fire Temple Exploration | 30 |
| Other Exploration | 40 |
| Conquest and Conquest Hard | 40 |
| Transcendence, all stages | 40 |
| Ludra (Sanctuary) | Not published for Global |
Korean notes reported 60 for some Hard modes and 80 for Sanctuary, and one tracker of those notes says the Sanctuary cost doubled in July 2026 alongside its rewards. Check the number on the cube after Ludra returns on 4 November, and keep some spare until you've seen it. Our Ludra raid guide covers the entry gates.
Membership's second injection costs the same again. NC's Membership notice words the rule this way:
"Odyle Energy can be injected twice" — NC, Special Quai Membership notice, against "injected once" without it
So a double-opened Conquest cube costs 80 energy. Players report it counts as one clear for the weekly Kina table below.
How much Odyle Energy do you need per week?
More than the recharge gives you, if you use every reward count. A character gets 21 Conquest and 14 Transcendence counts a week, which makes 35 claims. Here's the math at 40 per cube:
| Plan | Energy needed | Recharge covers |
|---|---|---|
| 35 single claims | 1,400 | 60% |
| 35 double claims (Membership) | 2,800 | 30% |
That gap is the real source of the "gatekeep" complaint. On recharge alone you get 21 cubes a week, or 3 a day. Membership on its own doesn't close the gap, because the refill is the same and double claims cost twice as much. You close it with items, and most of those cost Kina or materials.
How do you get more Odyle Energy?
There are two weekly sources and several temporary ones. Dates below come from NC's notices.
| Source | Amount | Limit or end date | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ludra boost mail | 4 items a day (160 energy) | Until the 10 Nov PST / 11 Nov CET maintenance | Log in |
| Wind Breeze Merchants | +40 per item | 4 per character + 16 per server, weekly | 100,000 Kina each |
| Substance Morph | +40 per item | 4 per character + 16 per account, weekly | See recipe below |
| Atreia's Call attendance | 2 items on days 7, 14, 21, 28 | Until the 2 Dec maintenance | Log in |
| Prelude to Flight pass, free track | 30 Small items (300 energy) | Until the 1 Dec PST / 2 Dec CET maintenance | Pass EXP |
| Prelude to Flight pass, Premium | 30 items (1,200 energy) | Same | 1,000 Quna per character |
| Halloween Pumpkin Coin trader | +40 per item, level 45+ | 4 per server per week, until the 3 Nov PST / 4 Nov CET maintenance | 10 coins each |
| Blue Candy (Halloween) | 4 items | Same event | Blue Candy Key |
| Halloween Twitch Drops | 4 items at 6 hours watched | Ends 3 Nov PST / 4 Nov CET | Watch time |
| Ludra Twitch Drops | 6 items at 8 hours watched | 4 Nov to 17 Nov PST / 18 Nov CET | Watch time |
The Ludra boost is the priority
NC changed this event on 27 October. The live rule is 4 Odyle Energy per account per day, not 2 per character as first announced. NC's steps:
"Log in once per day during the event. Check your in-game mail. Claim your Odyle Energy x4." — NC, Ludra Awakens on November 4th (updated 27 October)
The full run is 56 items, or 2,240 energy. From today, about 10 deliveries remain, worth 1,600 energy. A day you don't log in isn't delivered, and each mail expires 7 days after it arrives, so the first mails from 28 October run out around 4 November. Delivery is per account, so log in on your main first.
Wind Breeze Merchants: 2 million Kina for 20 cubes
NC's 27/28 October patch notes ended the temporary limit of 20 per character. The item is back as two listings, 4 a week per character and 16 a week per server. One client tracker treats those as stackable on a single character, which gives 20 items, 800 energy and 2,000,000 Kina a week at most. A second character on the server adds 4 more from its own limit.
Membership opens this shop from your menu. NC's notice says non-members use merchant NPCs, and players report the energy sits on a member-only tab, so check an NPC before you count on it.
Substance Morph: half the Kina, plus materials
Substance Morph with the Odyle Energy (Bound) recipe. Capture via Game8.
Each craft takes 25 Odyle, 5 Fine Odyle, 1 Pure Odyle and 50,000 Kina and always succeeds. Client data lists 4 per character plus 16 per account each week. The full 20 crafts need 500 Odyle, 100 Fine Odyle, 20 Pure Odyle and 1,000,000 Kina for 800 energy.
Two changes affect this route. Since 28 October, gathering needs level 45 and stops at 1,000 per day per server. And if you sell Odyle instead, watch for the insufficient gameplay record restriction, which players report blocks some accounts from listing it. Burning your own Odyle avoids that problem, because Substance Morph doesn't touch the Market.
Our crafting guide covers gathering routes.

Is it worth buying Odyle Energy with Kina?
Yes, if you still have reward counts left and the dungeon pays well. A full Fire Temple Conquest claim pays about 400,000 Kina (see our Fire Temple guide), and a 100,000 Kina item covers that 40-energy claim. You come out roughly 300,000 Kina ahead, plus Enhance Stones and drop rolls.
The Kina payout falls off once you've done a lot of clears. AION2 Dex reads this table from the client, and counts add up across your characters on a server:
| Content | Clears at full Kina | Then |
|---|---|---|
| Exploration | 7 | 60%, 20%, then 0% |
| Conquest + Conquest Hard | 84 | 80%, 60%, 40%, then 20% |
| Transcendence | 56 | 80%, 60%, 40%, then 20% |
One character on 21 Conquest counts won't get near 84, so this table mostly affects players running several alts on one server. Alts are the other way past the weekly energy gap: each one has its own bar and its own 840 a week, but it needs level 22 for the bar and level 45 for Conquest.
Where should you spend Odyle Energy first?
Spend it wherever the reward fixes your current bottleneck, in this order:
- Before level 45: spend only what would overflow, and use cheap cubes such as Krao Cave Exploration at 20. Story gear gets replaced quickly.
- Level 45, gearing up: Conquest cubes come first. Target the dungeon that still has pieces you need, and stop once you have them. The expedition requirements guide lists every gate.
- Chasing a weapon: Fire Temple Conquest. Three vouchers take 84 claims, which is 3,360 energy, or about four weeks on recharge alone.
- Geared for Conquest: Transcendence for Arcana. Each cube costs 40, and our Transcendence guide covers the item level gates.
- From 4 November: check Ludra's cube price before you spend your charged pool on anything else.
A simple weekly routine: claim mail daily, spend base energy before Wednesday's reset, run your Substance Morph and shop purchases after it, and use your remaining counts before the next one. The daily and weekly reset checklist has the rest of that list.
Is Odyle Energy pay to win?
It's a loot limit that money and Kina can loosen, and the honest answer depends on your budget. A free player with 840 a week can claim 21 of 35 possible cubes and can't list on the Market. In the 1 November thread, players split on it. Some with Membership reported around 3,000 item level with no crafted gear, and others said that once energy runs out there's nothing meaningful left to do. Both describe the same system. The second injection, the shop tab and the Market all need Membership, so that's where most of the gap between free and paying players comes from. See our Membership guide for what the $15 covers.
FAQ
Does Odyle Energy reset daily or weekly? Neither. It refills 15 every 3 hours around the clock. Only the shop and Substance Morph limits reset weekly, on Wednesday.
How much Odyle Energy do you get per day? 120 from recharge, which pays for 3 cubes at 40. Until the 10 November (PST) / 11 November (CET) maintenance, the Ludra mail adds 160 more if you log in.
Do Odyle Energy items expire? Yes, for event stock. NC lists Odyle Energy (Bound) from Atreia's Call and Halloween, and Small Odyle Energy from the pass, for removal on 15/16 December 2026. Use them before then. NC doesn't say what happens to energy already charged from those items.
Is Odyle Energy shared between characters? No. Each character has its own bar, and items are bound. Some purchase limits are shared across a server or account, which is a separate thing.
Can you run dungeons without Odyle Energy? Yes, but you get no cube loot, and leaving without opening it uses an Unobtained Cube count.
Does Membership make Odyle Energy refill faster? Client data says no. It raises the cap from 560 to 840 and allows a second injection per cube. NC's notice confirms the higher cap and the second injection, but not the numbers.
The bottom line
Recharge pays for 21 cubes a week, and using every count takes 35. Right now you can close that gap for free: claim the Ludra mail every day until 10 November, spend the base bar before it caps, and leave Kina purchases for the weeks after the boost ends. After that, Substance Morph has the lowest Kina fee if you gather your own materials, and the 100,000 Kina shop item still pays for itself on any cube worth 300,000 Kina or more. We'll update this page with Ludra's real cube cost once it's live on 4 November.
