BO7 Warzone Giant Infected on Haunted Hollow: How to Play, Every Reward & the Fastest Camo/XP Farm (Season 6, The Haunting)

Season 6, The Haunting, dropped the biggest Warzone shake-up of the year: Haven's Hollow is now Haunted Hollow, and the map has its own exclusive 64-player mode — Giant Infected. It's the fastest, lowest-stress place in Warzone right now to farm score, complete objectives, and grab the mode's free cosmetics, and almost nobody is playing it "correctly." This guide covers exactly how the mode works, how to win as both Survivor and Infected, every reward the mode hands out, and the smartest way to farm camo challenges and XP inside it.

Quick answer: Giant Infected is a 64-player, Haunted Hollow-exclusive Limited-Time Mode. 8 random players start as Infected; everyone else is a Survivor. Survivors gather DNA samples around the map to build and arm a DNA Bomb — detonate it and the Survivors win. Infected chase the Survivors down, turn them, and try to shut the bomb down before it goes off. Survivors spawn with a fixed loadout that upgrades as you earn score (surviving, kills, DNA, activities). The mode's own unlocks are a Charm (hit the DNA-sample threshold), a Calling Card (complete 15 objectives as a Survivor), and a Spray (turn or kill 10 Survivors as an Infected). To also grab the animated Crimson Crawler Camo, you solve Haunted Hollow's separate Eldritch Gateway easter egg — that's a different objective, covered below.

Below: how Giant Infected actually plays, the fastest way to win on each team, all three mode rewards and how to trigger them, and how to turn a chaotic 64-player lobby into a clean camo-and-XP farm.

What is Giant Infected in Warzone Season 6?

Giant Infected is a returning Limited-Time Mode brought back for Season 6, The Haunting, and it runs exclusively on Haunted Hollow — the eldritch-corrupted version of the Haven's Hollow Resurgence map. Per the official Call of Duty Season 06 blog, it's a 64-player match of "Survivors vs. Infected with the Survivors working to arm and detonate a DNA Bomb before they get overrun."

The scale is the whole point. Where classic Warzone Infected topped out at a couple dozen players, Giant Infected packs 64 into one Haunted Hollow lobby, so the outbreak snowballs fast. Here's the structure, straight from Activision's own breakdown:

  • 8 random players are assigned as Infected from the start. Their goal is to infect every player in the match.
  • Everyone else starts as a Survivor, working to construct and arm a DNA Bomb capable of stopping the outbreak.
  • Each Survivor enters with a fixed loadout that can be upgraded multiple times by earning score — from surviving, defeating enemies, collecting DNA samples, and completing activities.
  • Collect enough DNA samples to initiate the bomb sequence. If the bomb detonates, the Survivors win. If the Infected turn everyone or shut the bomb down, the horde wins.

Because it lives on Haunted Hollow, the mode also inherits the map's new set pieces: the Ghost Train phasing in and out of reality, Trick or Treat Pumpkins scattered around town, and reworked landmarks like the entangled River Boat, the burning Lumbermill, and the Mansion gravity vortex. Those aren't just decoration — they shape where the fights happen (more on that below).

How does a Giant Infected match play out?

The match is a race against your own team's decay. Every Survivor the Infected turns becomes another Infected, so the Survivor side shrinks while the horde grows. Your job as a Survivor is to bank DNA fast enough to arm the bomb before the human side collapses.

A typical round moves in three phases:

  • Early game (Survivor majority): 56 Survivors vs. 8 Infected. Loot is safe-ish, DNA samples are everywhere, and this is your window to upgrade your loadout and start banking samples. Don't hoard — turn samples in the moment you have them.
  • Mid game (the tipping point): the Infected count is climbing and objectives get contested. This is where most lobbies lose — Survivors scatter, get picked off one at a time, and the bomb never gets armed.
  • End game (bomb sequence): once enough DNA is collected, the DNA Bomb sequence initiates. Survivors must defend the arm; Infected swarm to shut it down. Detonation = Survivor win.

The single biggest mistake is playing it like Battle Royale — camping a building solo. In Giant Infected, an isolated Survivor is just a future Infected. Stack up, hold a defensible interior with one exit, and rotate as a pack.

How to win as a Survivor

Winning as a Survivor is about tempo and positioning, not gunskill. Here's the priority order:

  • Prioritize DNA over kills. The bomb is the only win condition. Kills earn score (and loadout upgrades), but samples are what end the match. Scoop every sample you pass and bank them immediately — dying with uncashed DNA wastes it.
  • Upgrade your loadout early. Because your starting loadout is fixed and upgrades come from score, the first few minutes of DNA + easy kills fund a much stronger kit for the mid game. Front-load your score.
  • Use Haunted Hollow's chokepoints. Interiors with a single approach — the Mansion, the Lumbermill, tight River Boat corridors — let a small Survivor stack mow down a charging horde. Open ground is where the Infected win.
  • Never be the last one in a room alone. Infected melee is lethal and they move in numbers. A two- or three-Survivor pod covering one doorway survives; a lone wolf doesn't.
  • Watch the Ghost Train and Buy Stations. Phasing the Ghost Train back into reality opens up Supply Boxes, a Buy Station, and a Mystery Box — useful mid-match resources when your loadout needs a bump.

How to win as an Infected

Getting picked as Infected is good news for farming (see the reward section), and the win condition is simpler:

  • Never chase alone. Survivors out-gun a single Infected. Swarm in twos and threes so at least one of you closes the gap while they reload.
  • Cut off stragglers. The fastest way to grow the horde is to hunt the isolated Survivor rotating between objectives — not to charge a fortified stack head-on.
  • Deny the DNA. If Survivors can't collect samples, the bomb never arms and the timer works for you. Camp sample-dense areas and turn the collectors.
  • Shut down the bomb. If the arm sequence starts, abandon everything and rush the bomb site as a group — shutting it down is a hard reset on the Survivors' progress.

Every Giant Infected reward and how to unlock it

Giant Infected has three free cosmetic unlocks tied to the mode itself, and they're not shown on a big splashy challenge list — several players (via r/CODWarzone) reported earning them just by playing before they realized they existed. Here's the full set and exactly what triggers each one:

RewardTypeHow to unlock
DNA CharmWeapon CharmCollect the required threshold of DNA samples (samples are worth ~10–50 each, so it takes a healthy number of round activities to hit it)
Survivor Calling CardCalling CardComplete 15 objectives as a Survivor
Infected SpraySprayTurn or kill 10 Survivors as an Infected

That's the mode's confirmed set — players who combed their cosmetics found only those three tied directly to Giant Infected. They're quick: the Charm and Calling Card come naturally if you focus on objectives, and the Spray falls out of a couple of Infected rounds.

Want the big one — the animated Crimson Crawler Camo? That reward is not part of Giant Infected's own challenge set. It's earned by solving Haunted Hollow's separate Eldritch Gateway easter egg on the map. We break that down step by step in our Warzone Haunted Hollow Crimson Crawler Camo guide — do that one alongside your Giant Infected sessions and you double-dip on rewards.

Is Giant Infected the fastest camo and XP farm in Season 6?

Warzone survivor squad pushing through combat terrain while farming camo and XP in Season 6

For low-pressure grinding, it's one of the best spots in Warzone right now — and here's why. The mode is a 64-player, objective-dense, respawn-heavy playlist, which is exactly the environment that racks up score and weapon progress without the all-or-nothing pressure of Battle Royale.

To turn it into a clean farm:

  • Farm weapon camos on the move. Season 6's Winstreak Challenges hand out six Universal Weapon Camos for consecutive wins across Battle Royale, Resurgence and Black Ops Royale — but the weapon leveling itself (kills toward camo challenges on individual guns) piles up fast in Giant Infected because targets are everywhere and you respawn.
  • Chase objective XP, not just kills. Because loadout upgrades and score come from DNA and activities, playing the objective double-dips: you're progressing the match and farming account/weapon XP at the same time. Stack it with a Double XP token for the biggest jump — if your tokens aren't applying, our Double XP not working fix covers why.
  • Knock out the whole Season 6 camo set. Giant Infected is a great warm-up lobby, but the full Haunting camo grind spans multiple modes and weapon classes. Our BO7 Season 6 all camos guide maps every camo and the fastest path through them.

If you'd rather have the grind done than do the grind, that's exactly what our services exist for.

A quick note on Season 6's timeline

Season 6, The Haunting, launched on September 17 across all platforms, and it's a content-stacked but time-limited season — Activision confirmed a shortened, four-week run for Resurgence Ranked Play, and Season 6 is your last chance to play Black Ops Royale before it leaves. Giant Infected, the Haunted Hollow easter egg, the DOOM Event Pass and the Winstreak camos all live inside that window, so if you're chasing the mode's rewards or the seasonal camos, treat them as time-limited and knock them out early rather than at the end.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many players are in Giant Infected? It's a 64-player mode. 8 random players start as Infected and the remaining players start as Survivors, so the human side shrinks as the horde grows over the course of the match.

How do you win Giant Infected as a Survivor? Collect enough DNA samples to initiate and arm the DNA Bomb, then defend it until it detonates — detonation is the Survivor win condition. Prioritize banking DNA and completing objectives over chasing kills, and stack up in defensible interiors so you don't get picked off alone.

What rewards does Giant Infected give? The mode has three confirmed free unlocks: a DNA Charm (collect the DNA-sample threshold), a Survivor Calling Card (complete 15 objectives as a Survivor), and an Infected Spray (turn or kill 10 Survivors as an Infected). The animated Crimson Crawler Camo is a separate Haunted Hollow easter egg, not part of Giant Infected's own set.

Is Giant Infected only on Haunted Hollow? Yes. Giant Infected is a Haunted Hollow-exclusive Limited-Time Mode for Season 6 — you can't play it on any other map, and Haunted Hollow itself is the reworked, eldritch version of the Haven's Hollow Resurgence map.

Is Giant Infected good for leveling weapons and camos? It's one of the better low-pressure farms in Season 6 because it's objective-dense, respawn-heavy and full of targets, so weapon XP and camo-challenge kills pile up quickly. Stack a Double XP token and play the objective to farm account XP and match progress at the same time.

How long is Giant Infected available? It's a Limited-Time Mode tied to Season 6, The Haunting (which launched September 17). LTMs rotate in and out during a season, so if the mode's rewards matter to you, grab them while the playlist is live rather than waiting until the end of the season.
