Accurate as of October 15, 2026 — Season 55 "Brawl-O-Ween" (Update 69, "Brawler Blast" progression), on the September 1, 2026 balance patch. Brawl Stars rebalances every few weeks, so Ranked win rates move with each patch.
Ranked is where picking the "best Brawler" stops being a tier-list question and becomes a draft question. The same Brawler that farms a 65% win rate in casual play can be a trap in Ranked because the enemy team can see it, counter it, or ban it outright. Heading into the Season 55 "Brawl-O-Ween" meta — September balance passes settled, Vince now live as the 108th Brawler — the Brawlers that actually carry Ranked ladder are not always the ones topping the raw win-rate charts. This guide covers how Ranked drafting works, who the best Brawlers for Ranked are right now by live data, and the picks and bans that win games at Diamond and above.
Quick answer (TLDR): The strongest Ranked Brawlers in the October 2026 meta, by live Ranked-mode data across 9.08M battles on brawlmetrics.gg (updated Oct 14, 2026), are Amber (S+, 54.5% win rate) and Edgar (S+, 53.4%) at the top, followed by an S-tier core of Gus (51.1% WR but the single most-picked Brawler at 4.85% use), Ash (55.1%), Wendy (54.5%), Bo (54%), Shade (53.8%) and Emz (52.8%). Note the gap between "highest win rate" and "best Ranked pick": brawlplanet's all-mode board shows Wendy at 64.9% and newer picks like Bolt and Cosmo near 60%, but those run on smaller samples and are easy to ban. For climbing, prioritize flexible, hard-to-counter picks you can first-pick safely (Gus, Amber, Bo), keep a ban for the enemy's comfort carry (Edgar and Shade are the most common bans), and do not first-pick Vince (#108) — he's too new to have a stable Ranked read. How does Ranked work in Brawl Stars?
Ranked (the mode that replaced Power League) is Brawl Stars' competitive 3v3 ladder. You climb through 22 ranks across eight categories — Bronze, Silver, Gold, Diamond, Mythic, Legendary and Masters (three tiers each), then Pro alone at the top — by Rank Score (Elo), and the draft rules get stricter the higher you go.
The two mechanics that change which Brawlers are "best":
- Bans unlock at Diamond. Below Diamond you simply pick from your own roster, so raw Brawler strength dominates. From Diamond upward, each team bans Brawlers before the draft, which is why the highest-win-rate glass cannons (Edgar, Shade) are often unavailable in a real Ranked game — they get banned first.
- Picks are drafted in a snake order and are visible to both teams. You see what the enemy locks in and respond. That turns Ranked into a game of first-pick safety (pick something strong that can't be hard-countered) and last-pick counters (hold a flexible Brawler to answer their comp). A Brawler with a huge win rate that folds to one counter is a weak first pick even if the tier list loves it.
- You need a deep, maxed roster. Ranked lets you use Brawlers at a floor power level, but Gadgets, Star Powers, Gears and Hypercharges still decide fights — so "best for Ranked" in practice means "best among the Brawlers you've actually built."
Why "best Brawler" and "highest win rate" are not the same in Ranked
If you sort any tier-list site by win rate, you'll see numbers in the 60s and assume those are the best Ranked picks. They usually aren't, for three reasons.
First, sample size and selection bias. brawlplanet's all-mode meta board (Oct 14, 2026) shows Wendy at 64.9%, Bolt at 60.5%, Cosmo at 59.4%, Amber at 58.2% and Shade at 58.2% — but a 64.9% win rate on a low pick rate usually means "only mastery players who main this Brawler are using it." Ranked data regresses those toward reality: on brawlmetrics' Ranked-only board, Wendy sits at a still-elite 54.5% and Amber at 54.5%, which is what you should actually expect on ladder.
Second, the ban phase removes the obvious ones. A Brawler is only "best" if you can use it. The most-banned Ranked Brawlers in the current meta are exactly the high-ceiling assassins and control picks — so building your plan around Edgar or Shade means building it around a Brawler you often won't get.
Third, Ranked rewards balanced score over raw win rate. brawlmetrics ranks its Ranked tier list on a blended score of win rate and pick rate, which is why Gus — at a modest 51.1% win rate but the most-picked Brawler at 4.85% — sits in S-tier. A Brawler that's strong and flexible enough to fit any comp is more valuable on ladder than a situational 55% specialist. As brawlmetrics frames it on its Ranked tier list, the rankings weight "both win rate and how often a Brawler is drafted," not win rate alone.
Who are the best Brawlers for Ranked right now? (October 2026 tier list)
Based on brawlmetrics.gg Ranked-mode data across 9,082,560 battles (all ranks, updated October 14, 2026), cross-checked against brawlplanet and Dexerto's October 12 tier list. Win rates shift every patch — treat these as the current read, not permanent law.
S+ tier — first-pick or ban-worthy:
- Amber — 54.5% win rate, 3.32% pick rate. The best all-around Ranked carry in the meta: continuous-fire damage, strong area denial on her Super, and buffed in recent passes. Safe first pick because she's hard to hard-counter.
- Edgar — 53.4% win rate, 3.53% pick rate. The classic Ranked assassin — explosive, self-sustaining, and the reason he's one of the most-banned Brawlers at Diamond+. Devastating if you get him, so expect him gone.
S tier — the Ranked backbone:
- Ash — 55.1% win rate, the highest raw win rate in the S group. A bruiser who snowballs off rage; excellent in brawl-heavy modes.
- Wendy — 54.5% win rate, trending up (▲1). Elite support/control even after her nerf — her team shield and revive pressure make her a premier objective-mode pick.
- Gus — 51.1% win rate but the most-picked Brawler at 4.85% (▼1). The flex pick of the meta: a support whose shields and healing fit literally any comp, which is why he's the safest first pick on the board.
- Bo — 54% win rate, 2.06% pick. Control and vision king (mines, long range, zoning) — a strong, under-banned first pick.
- Shade — 53.8% win rate. High-burst ambusher with unpredictable movement; a frequent ban alongside Edgar.
- Emz — 52.8% win rate, 2.99% pick. Area-control damage that shines in Hot Zone and Gem Grab chokes.
A tier — strong, situational, great last-pick counters: Rico, Brock, Mortis, Colette, Bibi, Griff, Nita, Jessie, El Primo, Doug, Juju, Nori, Colt, Piper, Surge and Stu. Dexerto's October 12 list also elevates Bolt and Nori for their utility-plus-pressure kits, matching the newer-pick strength brawlplanet shows at the top of its raw board.
Too new to rank: Vince (#108) launched in the Brawl-O-Ween window and is still stabilizing — early win-rate reads on brand-new Brawlers swing wildly as players learn the kit and balance passes hit. Don't build a Ranked plan around him yet.

What are the best first picks, bans and counter picks in Ranked?
Tier placement tells you who's strong; draft strategy tells you how to use it.
- Best first picks (safe, flexible, hard to counter): Gus, Amber, Bo. These win games without handing the enemy an obvious counter. Gus in particular is the textbook first pick — he fits any of the three comp slots.
- Best bans at Diamond+: Edgar and Shade top most players' ban lists because their ceiling in the right hands warps a game. If the enemy has an obvious one-trick, ban their comfort pick instead — denying a main is often worth more than banning the "objectively" best Brawler.
- Best last-pick counters: hold a flexible answer like Bibi, Griff or Nita to respond to the enemy's final lock. If they commit to a dive comp (Edgar/Mortis), last-pick a control Brawler (Bo, Emz) to zone them off the objective.
- Build to the mode, not just the tier list. Ranked rotates modes; a Gem Grab draft (control + a mid-range carry) looks nothing like a Knockout draft (range + burst). Use the tier list to pick within the role the mode demands.
How do you actually climb Ranked in October 2026?
The meta picks matter less than most players think below Mythic — consistency does. A few rank-specific notes:
- Bronze–Gold: no bans, so just pick the strongest Brawler you've maxed from the S-tier list (Amber, Ash, Wendy). Mechanics and map knowledge decide these games far more than draft.
- Diamond: bans switch on. Learn two or three S-tier Brawlers across different roles so a ban can't leave you without a comfort pick. This is where most players stall — not because of draft, but because they main a single Brawler and get it banned.
- Mythic and up: full snake draft with coordinated bans. Comp synergy (a tank, a damage carry, a control/support) beats three individually strong picks. Gus and Wendy are prized here precisely because they make the rest of the comp better.
- Don't chase the 64% win-rate ghost. Picking Wendy because a site shows 64.9% only works if you can actually play her shield timing. A 54% Brawler you've mastered beats a 64% Brawler you haven't.
FAQ
Who is the best Brawler for Ranked in Brawl Stars right now? By live Ranked data (brawlmetrics.gg, 9.08M battles, Oct 14, 2026), Amber (54.5% win rate) and Edgar (53.4%) lead, with Gus the most-picked and most flexible first pick. For most players, Amber or Gus is the safest "best Brawler" to commit to because both are strong and hard to counter in the draft.
What Brawlers should I ban in Ranked? At Diamond and above, Edgar and Shade are the most common bans because their ceiling warps games. In practice, banning the enemy's obvious one-trick or comfort main is often more valuable than banning the single strongest Brawler on paper.
Why do tier lists show different win rates for the same Brawler? Because they measure different things. All-mode boards like brawlplanet show Wendy at 64.9% on a small, mastery-skewed sample, while Ranked-only boards like brawlmetrics show her at a more realistic 54.5%. Ranked data and score-weighted rankings regress the inflated casual numbers toward what you'll actually see on ladder.
Is Vince good in Ranked? Vince (#108) is too new as of October 2026 to have a reliable Ranked read — brand-new Brawlers swing wildly in win rate while players learn the kit and balance passes land. Don't build a Ranked draft around him yet; revisit after the next balance patch.
When do bans unlock in Ranked? Bans start at the Diamond tier. Below Diamond you draft only from your own roster with no bans, so raw Brawler strength matters most. From Diamond through Pro, each team bans Brawlers before picking in a snake draft.
Do I need to max every Brawler to climb Ranked? No. You need a small, deep pool — two or three maxed S-tier Brawlers across different roles (a carry like Amber, a support like Gus, a control pick like Bo) so a ban can't shut you out of a comfort pick. A maxed Brawler you know well beats an under-built meta pick.
