What is the fastest way to level glyphs in Diablo 4 Season 15? Run the Pit of the Artificers, where glyphs can reach rank 150; Nightmare Dungeons no longer provide glyph upgrades. Prioritize your equipped glyphs, unlock their Legendary upgrade at rank 51, and farm tiers that give reliable upgrades without slow clears. Season 15's biggest shortcut is Choron's Blessing with rank-20 Splinter of Hatred, which calculates upgrade success as though you cleared 10 Pit tiers higher. Searching for a Nightmare Dungeon glyph route is understandable. Plenty of old guides still recommend rushing a dungeon boss and spending glyph XP afterward. Following that advice now sends you into the wrong activity.
The useful route is a Pit loop supported by seasonal bonuses and occasional gear upgrades. Below are the glyph milestones, the Mephisto bonuses worth unlocking, a tier-selection table, and a repeatable plan for finishing your build's glyphs before tackling the rest of your collection.

Do Nightmare Dungeons still level glyphs in Season 15?
No. Glyph upgrades come from the Pit. Blizzard moved them out of Nightmare Dungeons during its progression rework; Nightmare Dungeons became a source of Obducite for Masterworking instead. A fast Nightmare clear can help your equipment, but it doesn't replace a glyph-upgrade run. Blizzard's progression changes.
That distinction also explains why an old dungeon tier list won't solve this grind. You're choosing a Pit difficulty and upgrade setup, rather than hunting one named Nightmare layout.
Nightmare Dungeons still fit when gear is holding you back. If every Pit boss takes forever, spend a focused session improving the equipment causing that problem. Then return to glyphs. Keep those two jobs separate so a materials detour doesn't quietly consume the whole evening.
Where do you enter the Pit?
Use the Artificer's Obelisk in Cerrigar or Temis once the activity is unlocked. On the Seasonal realm, access follows Hellish Descent in Season Rank II; Eternal access unlocks at character level 70. These are access requirements, not recommended farming tiers. Maxroll's Pit guide.
Which Season 15 bonuses should you unlock first?
Choose Mephisto's Splinter of Hatred
Blizzard assigns the Pit and Nightmare Dungeons to Mephisto's Splinter of Hatred. Progress the seasonal questline to obtain the Prime Evil Splinters, then bear Hatred while building its reputation. You can carry only one Prime Evil Splinter at a time. Blizzard's Season 15 overview.
For this route, prioritize these Pit nodes and seasonal upgrades:
- Choron's Blessing: adds an upgrade attempt on completion. With Hatred at reputation rank 20, its seasonal effect improves success odds as though the completed Pit were 10 tiers higher.
- Choron's Haste: with Hatred at reputation rank 18, its seasonal effect grants an additional upgrade attempt for each 5 minutes remaining.
Those are Splinter reputation ranks, separate from your Pit activity-tree progression. Allocate the relevant nodes and check their active seasonal tooltips before comparing runs. Seasonal modifier requirements, in-game Blessing tooltip.
Don't wait until reputation 20 to start leveling glyphs. Equip Hatred, improve your active glyphs along the way, and let those improvements help you clear faster.
Activate the Urn of Glyphs
Spend available Smoldering Ashes on Urn of Glyphs for its chance at an extra upgrade. Blizzard lists it among Season 15's blessings. Treat that extra upgrade as a bonus, rather than counting on a fixed number every run. Official seasonal blessings.
Also protect your mastery rewards. Blizzard's Season 15 patch notes state: “Fixed an issue where Glyph Upgrade rewards were not properly reduced when failing Survival Mastery objectives.” Meet the objectives shown for your run; a route built around failing them will overstate its rewards. Blizzard patch notes.
Which glyph levels matter before the maximum?
Your first target should be a functioning set of equipped glyphs. Maxing something you might use next week does nothing for tonight's clear speed.
| Glyph rank | Verified milestone | Farming priority |
|---|---|---|
| 25 | Radius increases from 3 to 4 | Reach this on the glyphs your current board needs |
| 50 | Ready for the Legendary promotion, costing 15,000 gem fragments | Keep the required fragment type available |
| 51 | Legendary quality, radius 5, and an additional Legendary bonus | Finish this upgrade across your active set |
| 150 | Maximum glyph rank | Final target after your build is working |
These checkpoints follow Maxroll's current Paragon reference; Icy Veins also confirms the rank-51 Legendary upgrade and rank-150 cap.
Should you finish one glyph or spread upgrades around?
Work toward useful breakpoints, rather than keeping every number identical. If one upgrade activates an important bonus for your build, finish it. Once that benefit is secured, move to the next equipped glyph that needs attention.
After the Legendary promotions, compare the actual bonuses on your build. Prioritize the glyphs improving your main damage or fixing the defensive weakness that keeps ruining runs. Alternate-build glyphs come afterward. If your goal really is every available glyph at maximum, complete the active set first, then work through the remaining collection in batches.

What Pit tier gives the fastest glyph upgrades?
Choose the tier that produces the most useful glyph ranks across a complete farming session. Your highest unlocked tier is only a starting point for testing.
Without a seasonal adjustment, a Pit 10 tiers above the glyph's current rank guarantees that upgrade attempt. Larger gaps can award multiple ranks: a 20-tier gap awards 2 ranks per attempt, while a 40-tier gap awards 3. Check the displayed outcome again after upgrading because the glyph's new rank changes the calculation. Blizzard's upgrade rules.
How does rank-20 Hatred change the required tier?
The following minimums are calculated from the +10 guarantee rule and Choron's Blessing's seasonal +10 success adjustment. They describe the next attempt, not an entire run's upgrades or a measured clear speed.
| Current glyph rank | Minimum Pit tier for guaranteed next attempt, without seasonal Blessing | With rank-20 Hatred and active seasonal Blessing |
|---|---|---|
| 25 | 35 | 25 |
| 51 | 61 | 51 |
| 100 | 110 | 100 |
| 140 | 150 | 140 |
| 149 | 159, beyond the Pit's 150-tier limit | 149 |
Sources: Pit tier limit and upgrade rules, Choron's Blessing tooltip. The seasonal tooltip specifically changes success chance; this table doesn't assume it also adds bonus ranks.
For example, a rank-100 glyph has a guaranteed first attempt after Pit 100 with that seasonal modifier active. Once it reaches 101, recalculate. You can accept the displayed odds, move remaining attempts to a lower glyph, or choose a higher tier next run.
When should you drop the difficulty?
Compare several complete runs, including loading, the boss, upgrading, and restarting. Count ranks gained, not just attempts offered.
Calculate your own rate as glyph ranks gained × 60 ÷ elapsed minutes. A higher tier must award enough extra ranks to pay for its additional clear time. If the rewards barely change while the boss fight stretches out, drop back down. Recheck as your glyphs rise and their upgrade odds change.
Repeat that comparison whenever a meaningful gear upgrade or a newly activated seasonal bonus changes your results. Keep the faster option until the evidence changes.
Should you farm solo or with a group?
Time the group separately from your solo runs. Before starting, agree on the farming tier and when to take town breaks. A faster boss kill isn't much help if everyone waits around afterward.
Keep the comparison fair, too. Use a similar glyph-rank range and the same seasonal setup. A party blasting through fresh glyphs with a large tier gap isn't a useful comparison against your solo grind near the cap. Check the upgrades you actually receive and the mastery rewards you retain. If the group consistently improves that result, stick with it.
For a long session, write down starting and finishing ranks. That small habit makes the better route obvious and prevents one lucky clear from deciding your entire evening's difficulty.

What does the repeatable farming route look like?
1. Prepare the next upgrades before opening a run
Choose the glyphs you're advancing and check their current ranks. Set aside the gem fragments needed for any approaching Legendary promotion. Spending the reward screen deciding which build you might play next is avoidable downtime.
2. Check Hatred, the Urn, and your Pit nodes
Make sure your selected seasonal setup matches the route. If War Plans are available to you, use glyph-focused nodes; War Plans require Lord of Hatred access and their unlock. Players without that system can still use the baseline Pit upgrade rules, but shouldn't assume the node-based table applies. Season 15 War Plans requirements.
3. Farm a tier you can finish cleanly
Pick a starting tier from the upgrade preview, then test it. Prioritize dense packs and elites while moving toward completion. Avoid long backtracks for stragglers unless you need their progress. Your goal is another successful reward screen with useful upgrade odds.
4. Judge the boss separately from the trash
A build can flatten ordinary enemies and still struggle against the Guardian. Record the boss portion of your run. If it consistently eats most of your time, lower the tier or improve the weakness before pushing higher.
Don't copy a farming tier from a clip showing only the easy half of a run.
5. Spend every available attempt deliberately
Recheck the selected glyph's rank, upgrade chance, and any promotion cost. When odds fall, look at another equipped glyph before committing. Early in progression, spreading the remaining attempts across useful targets can keep the reward screen productive without forcing a harder next run.
6. Take a gear detour only for a clear reason
If damage or survival stalls the loop, decide what upgrade you're missing before leaving. Nightmare Dungeons can supply Masterworking materials; they aren't a mandatory stop between Pit clears.
For a broader activity order, use the Diablo 4 Season 15 endgame guide. Return to the Pit once the detour has solved its problem.
How do you finish glyphs from 140 to 150?
This is where Mephisto's success adjustment matters most. Without it, Pit 150 stops meeting the normal +10 guarantee after a glyph passes rank 140. With the active rank-20 Blessing, the same clear is treated as tier 160 for success chance, keeping the final upgrades inside the guaranteed range.
That follows from the verified success adjustment. Season 15 modifier confirmation. It does not promise your build can farm Pit 150 quickly. Compare your real results. A lower tier with imperfect odds can still beat a painful high-tier clear over the full session.
Once the active set is finished, use your stronger character to bring backup glyphs through their breakpoints. Low-rank glyphs benefit from the larger gap to your established farming tier. As they catch up, reassess the preview and difficulty again.
There is no honest universal “all glyphs in one hour” figure here. Your starting ranks, collection size, clear speed, active modifiers, and successful upgrades all change the total. The useful target is steady progress with minimal failed or unnecessarily slow runs.

FAQ
Why isn't a glyph-upgrade altar appearing after my Nightmare Dungeon? Glyph upgrades moved to the Pit. Finishing another Nightmare Dungeon won't restore the old glyph-XP reward; switch activities when glyph ranks are your goal. Blizzard's system changes.
What is the maximum glyph level in Season 15? The cap is rank 150. Rank 51 is the Legendary promotion, not the end of glyph progression. Current glyph reference.
Why hasn't my rank-50 glyph become Legendary? You must complete the promotion to rank 51 and supply the required gem fragments. Check the fragment type shown on the upgrade screen. Promotion requirements.
What Pit level should I run for basic glyphs? Start with a tier you can clear quickly, then compare its displayed upgrades against a higher tier. Large tier gaps help low-rank glyphs, but a long boss fight can erase that advantage.
Do I have to clear Pit 150 to max my glyphs? No. Lower tiers can offer a chance to finish them; the upgrade preview tells you whether an attempt remains possible. With the rank-20 seasonal Blessing active, the +10 success adjustment makes even the final guaranteed upgrade mathematically possible at Pit 149. Choose by completion speed and displayed odds. Underlying odds, seasonal adjustment.
