Diablo 4 Season 15 End Date: What to Finish Before It Ends

Quick answer: When does Diablo 4 Season 15 end? Blizzard hasn't announced it yet. The in-game Reliquary countdown and the major trackers point to around Tuesday, December 1, 2026, which would make Season of Hell's Legacy a 77-day season, the same length as Season 14. That leaves roughly five weeks from today (October 27). Season 16 should start the same day. Before the reset, claim every Season Rank reward (up to 42 Paragon Points and 14 Skill Points), claim the free Reliquary rewards, and finish any Splinter or Waking Nightmare goals. Favor itself carries over (capped at 99). Your character, equipped gear, gold and Paragon progress move to the Eternal Realm. Unclaimed seasonal rewards don't.

Season 15, the Season of Hell's Legacy, went live on September 15, 2026 with patch 3.2.1 as Diablo's 30th-anniversary season. As of today it's around day 42, and the Season 16 PTR (patch 3.3.0) opens today, October 27. Blizzard has historically confirmed the real end date only a few days before the switch, so if you wait for the official post, you may have less than a week to finish.

This guide covers the most likely end date and why, what transfers to Eternal, and a checklist ordered by what you actually lose if you skip it.

When does Diablo 4 Season 15 end?

There's no official date yet. Here's what the evidence shows as of October 27, 2026:

SignalWhat it says
Season 15 launchSeptember 15, 2026 (patch 3.2.1)
In-game Reliquary timerPoints to the end of November / ~December 1
d4guides.gg estimateSeason 16 "≈ December 1, 2026 (estimate, not confirmed)"
ggseason.com projection~December 2, 2026, "Day 42 of 78"
Season 16 PTROctober 27 → November 3, 2026 (PC only)
Official Season 16 dateNot announced

December 1 is the date to plan around. It's a Tuesday, and Diablo 4 seasons start on Tuesdays. It's exactly 77 days after September 15, the same length as Season 14 (June 30 → September 15). The PTR timing is consistent with it but less precise: the Season 15 PTR closed on August 11 and the season launched five weeks later, while December 1 is four weeks after this PTR closes on November 3. Taken together, the signals point to early December, with December 1 as the most likely Tuesday.

Recent season lengths have varied, so use December 1 as a target, not a guarantee:

SeasonLength
Season 12 (Season of Slaughter)~48 days
Season 13 (Season of Reckoning)~63 days
Season 14 (Season of Death Awakening)~77 days
Season 15 (Season of Hell's Legacy)~77 days (projected)

Our recommendation: treat Sunday, November 29 as your personal deadline. Seasons usually switch over mid-morning Pacific time after a maintenance window, and you don't want to be grinding your last Season Rank objective while the servers are going down.

What does Blizzard say about Season 16?

Blizzard hasn't given a launch date, but the 3.3.0 PTR announcement includes one line that matters a lot if you're deciding what to finish:

"We heard your feedback: some features from the Season of Hell's Legacy will be carrying forward into Season 16. However, these will not be part of this PTR, as we want to focus on new features for testing. Next week, we'll have more information about which favorite features will continue into the new season." (Blizzard, 3.3.0 PTR: What You Need to Know)

So some Season 15 features will survive the reset, but Blizzard hasn't said which ones. Until that follow-up post, assume every seasonal power (Splinters of Evil, Soul Splinters and the Waking Nightmare loop) ends with the season. If Blizzard keeps one of them, that's a bonus. Planning on it now risks losing the rewards tied to it.

Season 16 itself brings War Plans Tactics, Tyrael's Boons, Horadric Items and the Fractured Reaper dual lair fight. All of that is still PTR content and can change. Our Season 16 PTR breakdown covers it.

What carries over to the Eternal Realm, and what doesn't?

When the season ends, every Seasonal character moves to the Eternal Realm automatically. You don't need to do anything. What moves with it, and what stays behind:

Moves to EternalStays behind with Season 15
Character: name, class, levelSeason Rank progress and unclaimed rank rewards
Equipped gear, Mythics includedUnclaimed Season 15 Reliquary rewards (Favor carries over, max 99)
GoldYour chosen Splinter of Evil power (seasonal mechanic)
Paragon progressSeasonal objectives you haven't finished
Seasonal stash → a withdraw-only tabSeasonal Hardcore characters that already died stay dead

Two things to keep in mind:

  • The withdraw-only tab has its own deadline. Seasonal stash items show up on Eternal in a tab you can only take items out of, and that tab gets cleared at the following season rollover. Sort your loot before December so you aren't moving hundreds of items one by one in Season 16.
  • Nothing you farm now carries into a fresh Season 16 character. New seasonal characters start with no gold, materials or items. Farming gold in the final week only helps your Eternal account, not your next seasonal run.

If you want to take an existing Eternal character into Season 16 instead of starting over, Rebirth (added in Season 15) converts an Eternal character to Seasonal and resets it to level 1, keeping its class, name and appearance. It needs no equipped items and an empty inventory. Blizzard presents Rebirth as a quality-of-life feature rather than a seasonal power, so it isn't in the same expiring bucket as the Splinters. More in our Rebirth guide.

What should you finish before Season 15 ends?

Items 1–4 below expire with the season, ranked by how much you lose. Items 5–7 are optional: they carry over, so do them after.

1. Claim every Season Rank reward

This is the biggest one. Across 9 Season Ranks and 125 objectives, Season 15 hands out 14 Skill Points, 42 Paragon Points, 10 Resplendent Sparks, 5 Mythic Unique caches, the Dark Wanderbear pet and the Banner of the Three mount trophy. Ranks I–VII are each gated by a Waking Nightmare Capstone at a higher difficulty, Rank VIII by Echo of Mephisto on Torment X (some Rank VIII objectives need the Lord of Hatred expansion), and Rank IX works differently: you complete any 10 of 24 challenges instead of one Capstone.

If you're stuck one rank short, it's almost always a power gate: Pit tier plus Glyph ranks. Rank V asks for Artificer's Tier 25 and three Glyphs at rank 20. Rank VII asks for Tier 60 and three Glyphs at rank 45. Our Season Journey guide lists every objective, and the Glyph leveling guide covers the fastest way to push those ranks.

2. Claim the Season 15 Reliquary rewards

The battle pass has used reliquaries since Season 8: you earn Favor and spend it on the rewards you want. The free Season of Hell's Legacy reliquary includes 200 Platinum, a horse mount, mount armor, three weapons and a Town Portal. Favor itself is safe: Blizzard's season page says you can "carry over your Favor currency from season to season", with a cap of 99 tokens. So the risk isn't losing Favor. It's leaving this season's themed rewards unclaimed, and earning Favor past 99 that has nowhere to go. Blizzard hasn't said the Hell's Legacy reliquary stays claimable after the reset, so claim the free track, especially the 200 Platinum, while it's live. Our battle pass breakdown has the full reward list.

3. Finish your Splinter of Evil goals

The Splinters of Evil are this season's mechanic. You choose Diablo's Splinter of Terror, Baal's Splinter of Destruction or Mephisto's Splinter of Hatred, and each one has its own reputation track and rewards. If you've been planning to max a second track or chase the rank-tied caches, now is the time, since nothing here is confirmed to carry forward. Not sure which to finish? See which Splinter to choose.

4. Max your Season Blessings while they still pay out

Smoldering Ashes come from Season Ranking and upgrade five urns: Curiosities, Reclamation, Masterworking, Glyphs and Ancestral Whispers. At max level (4/4), the Urn of Glyphs shows +100% on its chance to earn an extra upgrade when you improve a Glyph, which makes it the best late-season urn if you're still pushing Glyphs.

What can wait until after the reset?

Everything above expires with the season. The items below don't, so do them only once the expiring rewards are claimed.

5. Optional: craft the Mythic you've been saving Sparks for

Nothing is lost if you wait: gear and materials move to Eternal. But if your Season Rank caches have handed you Resplendent Sparks, crafting the Mythic now lets you use it for the Season 15 Capstones you still need, and it moves to Eternal on your character either way.

6. Push Paragon

Paragon progress transfers, so XP farming isn't wasted, but you don't lose anything by doing it later. If you want maximum XP per hour for the final push, our fastest Paragon leveling route still applies.

7. Clean your stash and plan Season 16

Salvage what you won't use on Eternal and check you have a free character slot (or a Rebirth candidate) for December. If you play a class that's getting hit on the PTR (Druid's tag changes, Warlock's Blazing Scream and Spiritborn's Stinger reductions), test it on the 3.3.0 PTR before you pick a Season 16 starter.

How many days are left in Season 15?

If the December 1 estimate holds, 35 days from October 27. Here's how that breaks down:

WindowDatesBest use
Now → Nov 3Season 16 PTR liveTest your Season 16 class; keep farming Season Rank on live
Nov 3 → ~Nov 24Mid-windowCapstones, Pit pushes, Glyphs, Splinter goals
~Nov 24 → Nov 29Final weekClaim Season Rank and Reliquary rewards, then sort your stash
~Dec 1Expected switchSeason 16 starts, Season 15 characters move to Eternal

Blizzard confirmed the end date only 2 to 6 days before the switch in recent seasons, according to ggseason's tracking. Plan for the estimate, then update when the official post lands.

Running out of time before the reset?

The usual reason players miss Season Rank rewards is the power gate, not playtime: Pit tier and Glyph ranks for Ranks V–VII, Torment X Prime Evils for VIII. If you'd rather spend your last weeks claiming rewards than grinding to the next breakpoint:

Behind on Season 15? Close the power gap fast and spend the last five weeks claiming the rewards that expire.

FAQ

When does Diablo 4 Season 15 end? Blizzard hasn't announced an official date. The in-game Reliquary timer and the major trackers point to around Tuesday, December 1, 2026, which would be a 77-day season, the same length as Season 14. Blizzard usually confirms the exact date only a few days ahead.

When does Diablo 4 Season 16 start? Season 16 should start the same day Season 15 ends, so expect it around December 1, 2026. The Season 16 PTR (patch 3.3.0) runs from October 27 to November 3, 2026 on PC. Blizzard hasn't confirmed the launch date or the season's name yet.

What happens to my Season 15 character when the season ends? It moves to the Eternal Realm automatically with its level, equipped gear, gold and Paragon progress. Seasonal stash items go into a withdraw-only tab on Eternal. Unclaimed Season Rank and Reliquary rewards don't carry over.

Do I lose my Favor when Season 15 ends? No. Blizzard says Favor carries over from season to season, up to a cap of 99 tokens. Claim the Season 15 reliquary rewards you want before the reset, because Blizzard hasn't said they stay claimable afterwards.

Will any Season 15 features stay in Season 16? Yes, some. Blizzard said "some features from the Season of Hell's Legacy will be carrying forward into Season 16" and promised details in a follow-up post. It hasn't named them yet, so don't assume a specific system survives.

Do I lose my Mythic Uniques when the season ends? No. Equipped gear, Mythics included, moves to Eternal with your character. Items in your seasonal stash also move, but into a withdraw-only tab that's cleared at the following season rollover.

Should I farm gold for Season 16 before the reset? Not for a fresh character. New Season 16 characters start with no gold or items. Gold you farm now only helps your Eternal characters.
