FC 27 Update 1.0.1 Patch Notes: Every Fix — and the 6 Bugs EA Didn't Touch

Quick answer (TLDR): FC 27 Title Update 1.0.1 is live on every platform. It is ten line items across four sections — eight bug fixes and two tuning changes, and it is deliberately not a gameplay patch. The only slider EA moved is Jockey and Sprint Jockey speed in Authentic Gameplay, which exists in Career Mode and Kick Off only; EA states outright that "this change does not impact Competitive Gameplay", so nothing in Ultimate Team, Division Rivals or FUT Champions plays differently today. The high-ping fix people are celebrating is scoped to The Grounds League Matches — not Ultimate Team. If your FUT connection is bad tonight, this patch does not address it.

Current FC 27 phase: early access, day six, two days before the worldwide launch. Early access opened 17 September 2026 at 23:00 UTC on PC and 18 September at 00:00 local time elsewhere for Ultimate, Ultimate Plus and EA Play Pro. The global launch is 24 September at 23:00 UTC on PC and 25 September at 00:00 local time on every other platform. The live campaign is Season 1: Ones to Watch.

Key takeaways

  • This is a stability patch, not a meta patch. Two of the ten entries are tuning changes and both are outside competitive modes.
  • EA said the quiet part loudly: it is holding gameplay tuning still on purpose through launch week.
  • The ping fix has a narrow scope — The Grounds League Matches. Ultimate Team connection complaints are untouched.
  • Six bugs players are reporting right now do not appear anywhere in the notes. Knowing which ones EA has not acknowledged is more useful than re-reading the fixes.
  • You do not need to do anything before 25 September beyond letting the update install.

What is in FC 27 Title Update 1.0.1?

Here are the full notes, section by section, as EA published them. Nothing below is paraphrased.

Ultimate Team

Addressed the following issue:

  • "When selecting a Player Item that did not meet the requirements of the Filter Evolutions By Player option, parts of the UI could have become unresponsive."

That is the entire Ultimate Team section. One UI fix, in the Evolutions filter.

The Grounds

Addressed the following issues:

  • "Players were unable to perform 5 Star Skill Moves during Street Football matches in The Grounds, even if their Avatar had the appropriate skill level unlocked and equipped."
  • "Sometimes, players were not able to join the match using the Hot Join functionality."
  • "Sometimes, players would have unexpectedly high ping in League Matches."

Gameplay

Made the following changes:

  • "In Authentic Gameplay only (available in Career Mode and Kick Off) Jockey and Sprint Jockey Speed default slider values have moderately been increased. This change does not impact Competitive Gameplay."
  • "In The Grounds 11v11 matches, increased the impact of fatigue on long-term player stamina."

Addressed the following issue:

  • "Sometimes, players using a custom controller preset were unable to perform their intended inputs."

General, Audio, and Visual

Addressed the following issues:

  • "Addressed various stability issues that could have occurred."
  • "[Switch Only] In some cases, players may be unable to use DLC commentary audio languages even if they are already installed on the system."
  • "[PS5 Only] Visual issues could appear in the main menu."

A sourcing note worth making, because most sites skip it: EA distributed these notes through the official EA SPORTS FC Discord and the @EASFCDirect account rather than publishing a numbered Pitch Notes article on ea.com first. Treat the wording above as EA's own, but expect the canonical Pitch Notes page for Title Update 1 to appear after the worldwide launch, and re-check it if a line matters to you.

Does FC 27 Update 1.0.1 change gameplay?

Almost not at all, and that is a decision rather than an omission.

EA's stated reason, verbatim from its communication ahead of the patch, is that it wants to "continue preserving the Early Access and launch gameplay tuning" so players have time to adapt before anything is rebalanced. Read against the notes, that holds up: there are zero attribute, PlayStyle or balance adjustments, and the one slider change is explicitly fenced off from competitive play.

The scoreboard on the tuning side is small enough to state in one line:

ChangeWhere it appliesWhere it does not
Jockey + Sprint Jockey default slider values moderately increasedAuthentic Gameplay — Career Mode, Kick OffUltimate Team, Rivals, FUT Champions, Clubs, Squad Battles
Increased fatigue impact on long-term staminaThe Grounds 11v11Every other mode

This landed well on r/EASportsFC, where the patch thread ran to dozens of replies within hours. The dominant reaction was relief — a straight "it's just bug fixes, doesn't touch gameplay" — with a visible minority arguing that EA's word on untouched tuning is not something they take at face value. That second camp is not paranoid without cause; mid-season server-side tuning has been a recurring FC argument for years. What can be said factually today is that the published notes contain no balance changes, and that nothing about the jockey line reaches Ultimate Team.

If you want the changes that did reshape defending in FC 27, they came earlier, in the pre-launch AcceleRATE and team-press pass — we broke those down in the FC 27 AcceleRATE update guide, and the mechanics themselves in how to defend in FC 27.

Why doesn't the jockey buff apply to Ultimate Team?

Because FC 27 runs two separate gameplay presets, and this patch only touched one of them.

Authentic Gameplay is the simulation-leaning preset. It is available in Career Mode and Kick Off, and it is the one whose Jockey and Sprint Jockey default slider values went up. Competitive Gameplay is the preset used by the online modes people grind — Ultimate Team, Division Rivals, FUT Champions, Squad Battles — and EA's note states plainly that the change "does not impact" it.

So if you spent early access learning that jockeying feels heavy in Rivals, that lesson is still valid after the patch. Nothing about your defensive approach in FUT needs to change today. The practical consequence is narrow: Career Mode defending got slightly more responsive, and online defending did not.

What did the high-ping fix actually cover?

This is the line most coverage is getting loose with, so read the wording carefully: "Sometimes, players would have unexpectedly high ping in League Matches." It sits inside The Grounds section, next to Hot Join and 5-star skill moves. League Matches are a Grounds/Clubs structure.

That matters because the connection complaints filling r/EASportsFC this week are overwhelmingly about Ultimate Team — "connection unstable" warnings and ping spikes on PC on connections fast enough to rule out the player's own line, plus reports of the game dropping the connection entirely mid-session. None of that is in these notes.

Three of the Grounds fixes together do suggest the mode was in worse shape than FUT at launch: players could not use 5-star skills they had unlocked, Hot Join sometimes failed to place them in a match, and League Match ping was wrong. That is consistent with the early-access population being heavily Ultimate Team players, which left the Grounds and Clubs lobbies thin and their bugs less visible until this week. We covered what the mode actually contains in The Grounds explained.

If your problem is PC-side rather than server-side — crashes, launch failures, stutter — that is a different fix list, and it is in FC 27 won't launch on PC.

Which bugs did Update 1.0.1 not fix?

These are the six issues being reported across r/EASportsFC and r/fut in the 24 hours around the patch that have no corresponding line in the notes. None of them are EA-acknowledged, so treat each as a live community report rather than a confirmed bug — but if you hit one tonight, the patch is not your answer.

The position-swap one is worth singling out: it was posted three separate times in a single day, which is usually the shape of a real bug rather than a misread. Several posters describe setting a squad, kicking off, and finding players lined up out of their assigned slots. Until EA acknowledges it, the only mitigation people report is re-entering the squad screen and confirming the formation before searching.

The switching and goalkeeper complaints sit in a different category — they are balance arguments, not bug reports, and EA has just told you it is not touching balance during launch week. Expect those to be a Title Update 2 conversation at the earliest.

Do you need to install anything before the 25 September launch?

Yes, but it is automatic. Update 1.0.1 is live on all platforms now, so it will apply the next time the game updates. There is no separate launch-day download announced beyond it.

A few dates worth having straight for the next 48 hours:

MilestonePCConsole
Worldwide launch24 Sept 2026, 23:00 UTC25 Sept 2026, 00:00 local time
FC 27 Lite (free)25 Sept 2026, 16:00 UTC25 Sept 2026, 16:00 UTC

Note the trap in the first row: the release date of EA SPORTS FC 27 is 25 September. The 24 September figure is a 23:00 UTC PC unlock that lands on 25 September in the UK and everywhere east of it — never quote "24 September" on its own. EA's own published PC storage requirement is 100 GB, for both Minimum and Recommended specs, and EA has not published console file sizes. The full breakdown is in FC 27 preload and unlock times.

If you are coming in fresh on Friday, the sequencing guide is the FC 27 launch day checklist.

What does this mean for your launch-week Ultimate Team plan?

Practically, it means nothing you planned needs revising. A patch that does not touch Competitive Gameplay does not move card values, does not change which PlayStyles are strong, and does not invalidate a squad you built around early-access meta. The people who spent this week learning the game did not just get reset.

The one Ultimate Team line in the notes — the Evolutions filter UI hanging when you pick an ineligible Player Item — is a small quality-of-life fix, but it removes a genuine annoyance if you are working through pathways, because that filter is how you find eligible players without opening every card. Our current pathway priorities are in best Evolutions at launch, and the branching system itself is explained in FC 27 Evolutions and Pathways.

Where launch week actually gets decided is squad strength before the Friday influx — and that is a coins-and-time problem, not a patch problem. Formation and tactics work is in best formations and custom tactics.

Short on time before the standard-edition crowd arrives on Friday? These are the three places we can genuinely compress launch week for you — nothing here depends on a patch going one way or another.

FAQ

What is in FC 27 update 1.0.1? Ten entries across four sections: one Ultimate Team UI fix in the Evolutions filter, three The Grounds fixes (5-star skill moves in Street Football, Hot Join, high ping in League Matches), three gameplay entries (a Jockey and Sprint Jockey slider increase in Authentic Gameplay, increased fatigue impact in Grounds 11v11, and a custom controller preset input fix), and three general fixes covering stability, Switch DLC commentary audio and a PS5 main-menu visual issue.

Does FC 27 update 1.0.1 change gameplay? Barely, and not where it counts for most players. There are no attribute, PlayStyle or balance changes at all. The only slider moved is Jockey and Sprint Jockey in Authentic Gameplay, which exists in Career Mode and Kick Off, and EA's note states that "this change does not impact Competitive Gameplay" — the preset used by Ultimate Team, Division Rivals, FUT Champions and Squad Battles.

Does the jockey buff affect Ultimate Team? No. Authentic Gameplay and Competitive Gameplay are separate presets, and only the Authentic values changed. Defending in FUT plays exactly as it did before the update.

Did update 1.0.1 fix FC 27 lag and disconnects? Only in a narrow place. The ping fix in the notes is listed under The Grounds and refers to League Matches. Ultimate Team "connection unstable" reports and mid-session disconnects, which are the bulk of what players are posting about, are not addressed. The patch does list generic stability fixes, so some crash-type issues may improve, but EA has not claimed a FUT connection fix.

Do I need to install update 1.0.1 before the 25 September launch? It installs automatically the next time the game updates, and there is no separately announced launch-day patch beyond it. Budget space rather than time: EA's published PC requirement is 100 GB for both Minimum and Recommended specs, and EA has not published console file sizes.

How big is FC 27 update 1.0.1? EA has not published a file size for this update on any platform. Given the scope — ten fixes and two slider defaults, with no content added — expect a small download rather than a full re-install, but treat any specific figure you see quoted elsewhere as unverified.
