Genshin Chiori Build (7.1): Best Artifacts, Weapons, Teams and Whether to Take Her Free

Sam Okonkwo
Sam Okonkwo
Chiori, the five-star Geo Sword character from Genshin Impact, raising her blade in her official character introduction art

Quick answer. Chiori is a 5-star Geo Sword character who does most of her damage off-field through her automaton doll, Tamoto. Build her on DEF: a DEF% Sands, a DEF% or Geo DMG Bonus Goblet, and a CRIT Rate or CRIT DMG Circlet, with 4-piece Golden Troupe as the default set. Her signature Uraku Misugiri is best, but the 3-star Harbinger of Dawn is a real budget pick for the off-field build. Level her Elemental Skill first, take her to Level 90, and ignore Energy Recharge. Pair her with another Geo character or someone who makes Geo Constructs, because a second Tamoto adds about 48% to each Skill cast. She is free right now: Chiori is in the Tabletop Troupe selector, which closes on 3 November 2026 at 14:59 server time. Her last Character Event Wish ended on 29 October 2024.

This guide is current for Version 7.1, "A Rekviem for the Underworld", live since 23 September 2026. Talent numbers come from the in-game talent tables, checked on 16 October 2026.

Can you get Chiori for free in Version 7.1?

Yes, until 3 November 2026 at 14:59 server time. HoYoverse's in-game announcement 21924, "Tabletop Troupe: A Gathering on Adventure's Eve", lets you invite one event-exclusive 5-star. The pool, in HoYoverse's words, is "Tartaglia, Nilou, Baizhu, Chiori, Clorinde, and Varesa."

The rules that matter:

  • Gate: Adventure Rank 18 and Archon Quest Chapter VII: Act IV, "A Rekviem for the Underworld", completed.
  • One pick only. The notice says "You can invite a character only once during the event."
  • Materials included. You also get Ascension materials for the character you invite. The 7.1 benefits overview (announcement 21923) puts the cap at Level 60.
  • Server times: 14:59 local server time is 06:59 UTC on Asia, 13:59 UTC on Europe and 19:59 UTC on America.

There is no other route to her in 7.1. A keyword scan of every live in-game announcement on 16 October returns "Chiori" in exactly three notices: 21924 (this selector), 21761 (Stella Fortuna) and 21946 (the 7.1 update details, for Imaginarium Theater). She is not on either Phase II Event Wish, which feature Skirk and Escoffier.

Her banner history is short. She has had two Character Event Wishes, both called "Of Silken Clouds Woven": 13 March to 2 April 2024 in Version 4.5, and 9 to 29 October 2024 in Version 5.1. She was also in the "Thunder Rends the Plains on High" Chronicled Wish from 27 May to 17 June 2025. HoYoverse has not announced Version 7.2's banners, so any rerun date you see now is a leak.

Is Chiori worth picking from the selector?

She is the strongest choice if your account is short on Geo, and a weak one if you already have three good off-field Geo units. KQM's 7.1 guide is honest about both sides. Its pros include "Freely obtainable Constellation from 'Temper Thyself and Journey Far'". Its first con is "Stiff competition from other off-field Geo units, making her a less than ideal choice in many teams".

Take Chiori if:

  • You run Navia, Noelle, Ningguang, Itto or Geo Traveler on field and lack a Geo partner.
  • You play Zibai or Linnea Lunar-Crystallize teams and are missing a fourth slot.
  • You want a free character and a free constellation this version. Announcement 21761 permanently added Chiori's Stella Fortuna to "To Temper Thyself and Journey Far" this cycle.
  • You care about Imaginarium Theater in both 7.1 seasons. More on that below.

Skip her if you have no Geo damage dealer, no Geo Construct maker, and no plans to pull one. One reply in r/GenshinImpactTips put the deciding question simply: "varesa or chiori if you already have navia or itto." For the other picks, see our Clorinde build, Baizhu build and the full free 5-star selector guide.

Can Chiori be used in Imaginarium Theater this version?

Yes, in both 7.1 seasons, and that is rarer than it sounds. Announcement 21946 publishes both rotations:

SeasonRequired elementsSpecial Guest Stars
From 1 October 2026 (live now)Hydro, Cryo, AnemoIneffa, Yae Miko, Thoma, Chiori
From 1 November 2026Hydro, Electro, GeoQiqi, Odette, Vesna, Jahoda

Special Guest Stars "do not need to meet the Elemental requirements for that season", per the Theater rules on the Genshin Impact Wiki. So Chiori is usable in October as a guest star even though Geo is not required, and in November on element. Of the six selector picks, only Chiori, Tartaglia and Nilou are usable in both. Clorinde and Varesa are Electro, so they sit out October. Baizhu is Dendro and is in neither.

The Spiral Abyss is a different story. The season that opened on 16 October gives a 75% Cryo DMG Bonus in the second half of Floor 12 and buffs Stellar Glimmer DMG in the first half. Nothing on Floors 11 or 12 favours Geo this cycle.

What does Chiori's kit actually do?

Her damage comes almost entirely from her Elemental Skill, Fluttering Hasode. She dashes, summons Tamoto, and does an upward sweep. Tamoto then slashes 5 times over 17 seconds, every 3.6 seconds.

Her 1st Ascension passive, Tailor-Made, gives you a choice right after the sweep:

  • Press Skill again (Tapestry): she swaps to the next character in your party order and gives the team "Seize the Moment" for 8 seconds. When the active character lands a Normal, Charged or Plunging Attack, Tamoto makes a coordinated attack for 100% of the upward sweep DMG. That can happen twice per cast, once every 2 seconds. This is the off-field build.
  • Press Normal Attack (Tailoring): she gains Geo infusion for 5 seconds. This is the on-field build.

If you do nothing, Tailoring triggers by default. KQM's warning: "Make sure to press Chiori's Skill twice for Tapestry." Party order matters, so put your on-field damage dealer in the slot right after her.

Her 4th Ascension passive, The Finishing Touch, gives her 20% Geo DMG Bonus for 20 seconds when a nearby party member creates a Geo Construct.

Her Burst, Hiyoku: Twin Blades, is one Geo hit. It costs 50 Energy and has a 13.5-second cooldown. KQM: "it's often skipped."

Why does a second Geo teammate matter so much? The second-doll math

If a Geo Construct is nearby, or one is created, an extra Tamoto spawns next to your active character. At C1, a Geo teammate is enough to spawn it. That second doll is the biggest upgrade in her kit, and the talent table shows how big.

At Skill level 10, one off-field cast with Tapestry deals:

HitCountDEF partATK part
Upward sweep1335.88%268.7%
Tamoto slashes5184.68% each147.74% each
Coordinated attacks2335.88% each268.7% each
Total, one Tamoto1,931% DEF1,545% ATK
Second Tamoto+5+923% DEF+739% ATK

The second doll adds about 48% to the whole cast. No artifact set or weapon gets close to that. The extra doll's duration is counted separately, so a Construct made mid-rotation pushes its hits later and out of step with your buffs. Place Constructs early.

Two more points from KQM. Only the first Tamoto generates particles, at a 20% chance of 2 and 80% of 1 per hit. That is about 6 particles per cast. And the dolls "cannot be broken by enemies and only despawn when their 17s duration ends."

What are the best artifacts for Chiori?

Main stats:

  • Sands: DEF%
  • Goblet: DEF% or Geo DMG Bonus. KQM says either "can be optimal depending on the team".
  • Circlet: CRIT Rate or CRIT DMG. KQM says "DEF% Circlets are not recommended."
  • Substats: CRIT > DEF% > ATK%.

Why DEF and not ATK? Every hit scales on both, but the DEF part of the multiplier is 25% larger than the ATK part at every talent level. Her own Base DEF at Level 90 is 953, against Base ATK of 323. KQM sums it up: "her DEF scaling is much better."

Sets:

SetWhen to use itWhat it gives
4pc Golden TroupeDefault for off-field+20% Skill DMG (2pc), +25% (4pc), and a further +25% while off-field, so +70% Skill DMG in total. The extra 25% is "cleared 2s after taking the field."
4pc Husk of Opulent DreamsClose second off-field; best for C6 on-field+30% DEF (2pc), then up to 4 stacks of +6% DEF and +6% Geo DMG. Off-field she gains 1 stack every 3s.
4pc Night of the Sky's UnveilingOn-field in Lunar-CrystallizeKQM rates it "roughly on par" with Husk there. Watch CRIT Rate overcapping with Harbinger of Dawn.
4pc Silken Moon's SerenadeLunar-Crystallize supportTeam-wide buff when her own damage matters less.

KQM says Husk is "only slightly worse than 4pc GT for off-field Chiori." If you have good Husk pieces, use them.

What is Chiori's best weapon?

WeaponRarityVerdict
Uraku Misugiri5-starBest for personal damage. CRIT DMG secondary stat. At R1: +16% Normal Attack DMG, +24% Skill DMG, doubled for 15s after a nearby active character deals Geo DMG, plus +20% DEF.
Peak Patrol Song5-starSlightly lower personal damage, often better for the team. Off-field, she needs 2 Normal Attacks before her Skill.
Primordial Jade Cutter5-starStrong off-field. Worse on-field with 4pc NotSU because of its CRIT Rate.
Lightbearing Moonshard5-starGood CRIT weapon for both builds, a bit better in Lunar-Crystallize.
Harbinger of Dawn3-starBest budget pick off-field. CRIT DMG secondary stat, and up to 28% CRIT Rate at R5 while HP is above 90%. That is easy when she is off-field.
Cinnabar Spindle4-starAbout equal to Flute of Ezpitzal. Adds Skill DMG equal to 40% of DEF at R1 (80% at R5), once every 1.5s.
Flute of Ezpitzal4-starAbout equal to Cinnabar Spindle.
Wolf-Fang4-starAt R1, close to or a bit below the other 4-stars.

KQM does not recommend Exaiphanes Blade for her. Players who took her from the selector say the same about the budget option. One wrote that she was "easier to build, especially with HoD (I got her myself and building her was a breeze)."

How much Energy Recharge does Chiori need?

Usually none. KQM: "It is not worth investing in ER% substats to meet Chiori's ER requirements to use her Burst every rotation, so use it when available instead."

If you want to burst every rotation, KQM's estimates depend on how many Geo particles your teammates make:

Geo particles from teammatesExampleER needed
0Noelle260 to 290%
3Zhongli200 to 220%
6Navia, 2 Skills170 to 190%
8Xilonen, 2 Skills150 to 170%
10 to 12Itto, Gorou, Zhongli120 to 150%

Which talents should you level first?

Elemental Skill first, by a wide margin. KQM's order is "Level 90 = Skill >> Burst". Her Normal Attack only matters for C6 on-field builds. Raise her character level before her Burst. Base DEF goes from 618 at Level 60 to 953 at Level 90, so she gets 54% more Base DEF from levels alone.

What materials does Chiori need to ascend?

The selector covers ascension up to Level 60. To go from 60 to 90 you still need:

  • 300,000 Mora
  • 40 Artificed Spare Clockwork Component: Coppelia, from the Lv. 30+ Icewind Suite: Dirge of Coppelia boss
  • 9 Prithiva Topaz Chunks and 6 Prithiva Topaz Gemstones
  • 135 Dendrobium, an Inazuma specialty found on Kannazuka and Yashiori Island
  • 18 Spectral Hearts and 36 Spectral Nuclei, from Specters

For the full 1 to 90 run, she needs 420,000 Mora, 46 Coppelia components, 168 Dendrobium and the full Prithiva Topaz line.

Talents: Light books, from the Violet Court domain in Inazuma on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. Taking one talent from 1 to 10 costs 1,652,500 Mora, 3 Teachings, 21 Guides and 38 Philosophies of Light, 6 Spectral Husks, 22 Spectral Hearts, 31 Spectral Nuclei, 6 Lightless Silk Strings from the All-Devouring Narwhal weekly boss (Lv. 70+), and 1 Crown of Insight.

What are the best Chiori teams?

KQM's 7.1 teams assume C1, "because a Chiori Constellation is freely obtainable." In every off-field team, Chiori casts her Skill twice and swaps into the next slot.

Off-field Geo damage:

  • Navia, Nicole, Fischl or Mona, Chiori. KQM: "Chiori provides reliable off-field damage for Navia." See our Navia build guide.
  • Zibai, Linnea or Illuga, Columbina, Chiori. A strong pick for Zibai if you only have one of Linnea or Illuga. See our Zibai build and Linnea build.
  • Noelle, Furina, Columbina, Chiori. Columbina enables Lunar-Crystallize. Our Columbina build covers her side.
  • Ningguang, Fischl or Durin, Nicole, Chiori. Nicole's shield keeps Geo Resonance up.

Flex teams, where she is the Geo sub-DPS:

  • Neuvillette, Furina or Vodyanitsa, Xilonen, Chiori.
  • Mualani, Mavuika, Xilonen, Chiori. Her slow Geo application does not take over the Pyro aura.
  • Lyney, Durin, Nicole, Chiori or Lyney, Bennett, Zhongli, Chiori.

KQM calls Xilonen her ideal support, with a caveat: with three Geo characters, Xilonen's 1st Ascension passive needs C2. In Flex teams, have the on-field character pick up Crystallize shards to keep Geo Resonance active.

On-field Lunar-Crystallize, before C6: Chiori, Linnea, Columbina or Aino, Illuga or Furina. Use Skill, then one Normal Attack to trigger Tailoring, then her N1C combo. Aino is the free Hydro option.

Budget teams: Geo Traveler, Fischl, Mona, Chiori, or Fischl or Xiangling, Bennett, Geo Traveler, Chiori.

Which Chiori constellations matter?

  • C1, Six Paths of Sage Silkcraft: Tamoto's AoE +50%. With any other Geo character in the party, her Skill always summons the second Tamoto and triggers her 4th Ascension passive. This is the big one.
  • C2, In Five Colors Dyed: for 10s after her Burst, a "Kinu" doll appears every 3s and hits for 170% of Tamoto's DMG.
  • C3, Four Brocade Embellishments: +3 Skill levels.
  • C4, A Tailor's Three Courtesies: up to 3 more Kinu during each Tailor-Made effect, once every 15s.
  • C5, Two Silken Plumules: +3 Burst levels.
  • C6, Sole Principle Pursuit: her Skill cooldown drops by 12s after Tailor-Made, and her Normal Attacks gain DMG equal to 235% of her DEF. This makes her a real on-field carry.

How to get C1 free, and the deadline. Announcement 21761 permanently added Chiori's Stella Fortuna to "To Temper Thyself and Journey Far". You need 8 weekly goals for one Stella Fortuna, and this cycle ends on 2 November 2026 at 03:59 server time. Weekly goals reset on Monday at 04:00, and since we are in the week of 12 October, only three weekly windows remain, including this one. You need at least 5 weekly goals banked already to make it this cycle, and this week only counts if you can still log 5 daily goals before Monday's reset. The notice says a Stella Fortuna "cannot be obtained for characters you have not obtained", so claim her from the selector first. If you miss this cycle, she stays on the roster, because the addition is permanent and a new cycle starts on a Monday at 04:00 after this one ends.

FAQ

Can I get Chiori for free in Genshin Version 7.1? Yes. She is one of six event-exclusive 5-stars in the Tabletop Troupe selector (announcement 21924), with Tartaglia, Nilou, Baizhu, Clorinde and Varesa. You need Adventure Rank 18 and Archon Quest Chapter VII: Act IV complete, and you can invite only one character. The event closes on 3 November 2026 at 14:59 server time.

Is Chiori on-field or off-field? Off-field in most teams. KQM's guide says "A huge portion of her damage can be dealt entirely off-field." She can play on field in Lunar-Crystallize teams before C6. A common Reddit claim is that "Chiori can only be played on-field at C6, as her infusion only lasts 5 secs pre-C6." The 5 seconds part is right, but KQM's 7.1 guide calls Lunar-Crystallize her preferred on-field archetype before C6. C6 is what makes her a strong on-field carry in other teams.

Does Chiori need a Geo teammate? Not strictly, but she loses a lot without one. At C0, she needs a Geo Construct nearby for the second Tamoto and for her 20% Geo DMG Bonus passive. At C1, any other Geo character does both. The second doll alone adds about 48% to each Skill cast at talent level 10.

Should Chiori use DEF or ATK artifacts? DEF. Her Skill hits scale 25% more on DEF than on ATK, and her Base DEF at Level 90 is 953 against 323 Base ATK. Use a DEF% Sands, a DEF% or Geo Goblet, and a CRIT Circlet.

Is Harbinger of Dawn good on Chiori? Yes, for the off-field build. It has a CRIT DMG secondary stat, and its CRIT Rate passive needs HP above 90%, which is easy when she is rarely on field. KQM calls it "a good 3-star weapon for off-field Chiori". Avoid it on-field with 4pc Night of the Sky's Unveiling, where CRIT Rate overcaps.

When was Chiori's last banner? Her last Character Event Wish, "Of Silken Clouds Woven", ran from 9 to 29 October 2024 in Version 5.1. She was also in the "Thunder Rends the Plains on High" Chronicled Wish from 27 May to 17 June 2025. No 7.2 banners are officially announced.
