Genshin Zibai Build: Best Artifacts, Weapons, and Teams (Version 7.1)

Sam Okonkwo
Zibai, the five-star Geo Sword character from Liyue, shown with her golden spirit steed

Quick answer. Zibai is a 5-star Geo Sword on-field DPS whose entire damage kit scales off DEF, not ATK — every one of her listed multipliers is a percentage of DEF. Build her with a DEF% Sands, a DEF% Goblet and a CRIT Circlet on 4-piece Night of the Sky's Unveiling, and run her with at least one Hydro teammate (for the aura), at least one Geo teammate (for resonance) and at least one other Moonsign character (for Ascendant Gleam). Her best weapon is her signature Lightbearing Moonshard; her best budget option is the craftable Flute of Ezpitzal, and a 3-star sword from 2020 beats most 4-stars. You cannot pull her in Version 7.1 — she has had exactly one banner, back in February 2026, and she is on none of the current wishes or selectors.

This guide is current for Version 7.1, "A Rekviem for the Underworld", live since 23 September 2026, with Phase II running until 3 November 2026.

Can you actually get Zibai in Version 7.1?

No — and that is worth leading with, because the search demand for her name is far larger than the number of accounts that own her.

Zibai has been featured in exactly one Event Wish in her entire history: "Harmonious Abundance," which ran 3–24 February 2026 in Version "Luna IV," alongside featured 4-stars Illuga, Aino and Gorou. She has never had a rerun, and her profile lists her as event-exclusive, so she has never joined the permanent Standard Wish either.

Three first-party checks confirm she is unavailable right now:

  • The current "Across the Frozen Wilds, Honing One's Edge" event lets you invite a 5-star "from the Standard Wish 'Wanderlust Invocation'." Zibai is event-exclusive, so she is not in that pool.
  • The current "Tabletop Troupe: A Gathering on Adventure's Eve" event does hand out an event-exclusive 5-star, but the official notice names the list exactly: "The event-exclusive 5-star characters available to invite are: Tartaglia, Nilou, Baizhu, Chiori, Clorinde, and Varesa." Zibai is not among them.
  • Her signature sword is not obtainable either. The live Epitome Invocation weapon banner features Azurelight (Sword) and Symphonist of Scents (Polearm), not Lightbearing Moonshard.

A keyword scan of all 35 live in-game announcements returns zero mentions of her name. So this guide is for two groups: players who pulled her in February and never finished building her, and players deciding whether she is worth saving for. For what is pullable, see our Version 7.1 banner breakdown and the October 2026 banner schedule.

Why does Zibai scale off DEF instead of ATK?

This is the single most important thing to understand about her, and it changes every gearing decision downstream.

Open her talent tables and the damage columns are not labelled "DMG (%)" the way they are on a normal character. They are labelled "DMG (%DEF)". Her Lunar Phase Shift normal attacks, her special Skill Spirit Steed's Stride, and both hits of her Burst Tri-Sphere Eminence all read off DEF. Attack power does essentially nothing for her.

Her passives reinforce it from three directions:

  • A1, The Selenic Adeptus Descends — the second hit of Spirit Steed's Stride is increased by 60% of Zibai's DEF. This is an additive base damage bonus, not a multiplier.
  • A4, Layered Peaks Pierce the Clouds — "Other Geo party members increase Zibai's DEF by 15% each. Other Hydro party members increase her Elemental Mastery by 60 each."
  • Moonsign Benediction, The Coursing Sun and Moon — "When a party member triggers a Hydro Crystallize reaction, it will be converted into the Lunar-Crystallize reaction, with every 100 DEF that Zibai has increasing Lunar-Crystallize's Base DMG by 0.7%, up to a maximum of 14%."

That last clause sets a hard ceiling that almost nobody states plainly: 0.7% per 100 DEF, capped at 14%, means the cap lands at exactly 2,000 DEF. More on why that matters below.

Her rotation is a resource loop. The Skill Heaven and Earth Made Manifest (18s cooldown) puts her into Lunar Phase Shift for 15 seconds, converting her Normal and Charged Attacks to Geo that cannot be overridden. In that state she banks Phase Shift Radiance: 10 points per second passively, 5 per Normal Attack hit (once per 0.5s), and at Ascendant Gleam a further 35 points every time a teammate triggers Lunar-Crystallize. Each cast of Spirit Steed's Stride costs 70 of a 100-point pool, and she gets four casts per Phase Shift at C0. Keqing Mains notes that using all four matters because those Lunar-Crystallize hits are "roughly half of her total damage output at C0."

One important limitation: Lunar Phase Shift ends the moment she swaps off field. She is a committed on-field DPS, not a character you tap and leave.

What are Zibai's best artifacts and main stats?

SlotMain statWhy
SandsDEF%Her damage stat, full stop
GobletDEF%Not Geo DMG% — see below
CircletCRIT Rate or CRIT DMGWhichever fixes your ratio

Substat priority is CRIT > DEF% > Elemental Mastery > Energy Recharge.

The Goblet call is the one that catches people out. Geo DMG% feels obviously correct on a Geo character, and it is wrong here. The community-derived Lunar reaction damage model — reconstructed from frame testing rather than published by HoYoverse, so treat it as the best available model rather than gospel — contains no elemental damage bonus term at all. A Geo DMG Goblet only feeds her plain-Geo first hits and does nothing for the Lunar-Crystallize half of her kit. A DEF% Goblet feeds both halves.

4-piece Night of the Sky's Unveiling is her set, and it is not close. The 2-piece gives +80 Elemental Mastery; the 4-piece grants the on-field Gleaming Moon: Intent effect for 4s whenever a nearby party member triggers a Lunar Reaction, worth +15% CRIT Rate at Nascent Gleam and +30% at Ascendant Gleam, plus 10% party-wide Lunar Reaction damage per distinct Gleaming Moon effect in the team.

That last clause hides a useful cap. Running Night of the Sky's Unveiling on Zibai and Silken Moon's Serenade on a support stacks the two distinct Gleaming Moon effects to +20% party Lunar Reaction damage — but a third character wearing either set adds nothing. Two sets is the whole payout, which is exactly why Keqing Mains puts Zibai on Night of the Sky's Unveiling and Illuga on Silken Moon's Serenade.

4-piece Husk of Opulent Dreams works as a placeholder while you farm, but it is a clear step down, not a sidegrade.

What is Zibai's best weapon?

WeaponLvl 90 statsNotes
Lightbearing Moonshard (5★)542 ATK / 88.2% CRIT DMGSignature. +20% DEF, +64% Lunar-Crystallize DMG for 5s after an Elemental Skill
Uraku Misugiri (5★)542 ATK / 88.2% CRIT DMG+20% DEF plus Normal/Skill DMG% that doubles after nearby Geo damage
Harbinger of Dawn (3★)401 ATK / 46.9% CRIT DMG+14% CRIT Rate above 90% HP. Best non-5-star — needs a shielder
Flute of Ezpitzal (4★)454 ATK / 69.0% DEFCraftable. Skill grants +16% DEF for 15s

Lightbearing Moonshard released on the same day as Zibai and is built for her: its Legacy of Lang-Gan passive stacks DEF and then adds a large Lunar-Crystallize damage bonus for five seconds after an Elemental Skill. Worth noting that the in-game text designates Spirit Steed's Stride itself an Elemental Skill, which on a plain reading means her repeated casts keep refreshing that five-second window instead of letting it lapse once per rotation.

The surprise is Harbinger of Dawn, a 3-star sword from the 2020 launch that you can get from a quest. Keqing Mains' explanation is exactly right: "Its low Base ATK does not matter since Zibai scales with DEF." The 401 base ATK that makes it unusable on everyone else is irrelevant here, and the CRIT Rate passive is pure gain — provided you keep her above 90% HP, which in practice means playing her with a shielder.

If you cannot keep that condition, Flute of Ezpitzal is the answer: forgeable, a DEF% secondary stat, and a DEF buff whose 15-second duration lines up precisely with Lunar Phase Shift's 15-second window.

Here is the payoff on that 2,000 DEF cap. Zibai's base DEF at level 90 is 956.85. Flute of Ezpitzal alone contributes 69.0% from its secondary stat and 16% from its passive; one Geo teammate adds another 15% via A4; a 5-star DEF% Sands adds 58.3%. That is 158.3% total, which puts her at roughly 2,471 DEF — already 24% past the cap before you have equipped a DEF% Goblet. A full triple-Geo build lands nearer 3,170 DEF.

The practical conclusion: the 14% team-wide Lunar-Crystallize buff is effectively free and you will hit it with a budget build. Every point of DEF beyond 2,000 is a personal-damage lever for Zibai only. Stop treating DEF stacking as a team-buff decision past that line.

How do Zibai's teams actually work?

Her team has three non-negotiable slots and one free one:

  • At least one Hydro character, to keep a Hydro aura on the enemy. Lunar-Crystallize is Geo plus Hydro only — no other element produces it.
  • At least one other Geo character, for Geo Resonance.
  • At least one other Moonsign character, to reach Ascendant Gleam. Zibai raises the party's Moonsign by one level on her own, but Ascendant Gleam needs two Moonsign bodies.

Columbina, the five-star Hydro Catalyst character who supplies Hydro aura in Zibai teams

Now the part that aggregator pages state backwards. Her A4 passive offers two rewards, and they are not worth the same amount.

Take a typical build: 4-piece Night of the Sky's Unveiling supplies 80 Elemental Mastery, and one Hydro teammate adds 60 more, for 140 EM. Under the community-derived Lunar reaction formula, where the EM bonus equals 6 × EM / (EM + 2000), that is a +39.3% damage term. Adding a second Hydro teammate takes her to 200 EM and +54.5% — the damage term climbs from 1.393 to 1.545, an 11% gain. Adding a second Geo teammate instead gives +15% of her base DEF, about 143 extra DEF on a roughly 3,170 DEF build: a 4.5% gain.

So on her own direct Lunar-Crystallize damage, the Hydro slot is worth roughly twice the Geo slot — and yet the strongest published team is triple Geo (Zibai, Illuga, Linnea, Columbina). That is not a contradiction. It means you take Geo teammates for what they do, not for the 15%: Illuga contributes an additive base damage bonus in the mould of Shenhe's Icy Quill plus CRIT buffs on Geo hits, and Linnea brings Geo resistance shred, healing and real off-field damage. The A4 DEF clause is a rounding error next to those, and "stack Geo for the DEF buff" falls apart the moment you substitute a Geo unit that brings nothing else.

Linnea with her companion Lumi, a Geo Lunar-Crystallize teammate for Zibai

Two other notes. Geo Resonance (Enduring Rock) now accepts Moondrifts formed by Lunar-Crystallize reactions in place of a shield, so these teams get the full +15% damage and −20% Geo RES package with no shielder. And Zibai needs no battery — her Burst is a bonus, not a rotation requirement, so Energy Recharge is usually wasted on her outside a triple-Geo team with Linnea feeding six Geo particles per rotation.

For Hydro, Columbina is the premium pick: she deals direct Lunar-Crystallize damage herself and can cover sustain. Yelan and Xingqiu are the accessible alternatives. Gorou is the strongest cheap Geo slot — at C6 he can outperform a pre-C6 Illuga, partly because, unlike Illuga, he contributes the Ascendant Gleam team bonus.

Gorou, the four-star Geo Bow support who provides DEF buffs for Zibai teams

What do her constellations change?

C1 grants 100 Phase Shift Radiance instantly on entering Lunar Phase Shift, raises her to five special Skill casts, and adds +220% to the first cast's Lunar-Crystallize hit.

C2 is the damage constellation: +30% Lunar-Crystallize damage for nearby party members while she is in Phase Shift, and an upgrade of her A1 from 60% of DEF to 550% of DEF. Note the gate — that A1 upgrade is a Moonsign: Ascendant Gleam effect, so it does nothing in a team that cannot reach Ascendant Gleam.

C4 stops her Normal Attack sequence resetting and adds 250% to her N4 Lunar-Crystallize hit. C6 is her strongest: +50% Radiance generation, plus Spirit Steed's Stride consuming her entire Radiance pool and elevating damage by 1.6% per point spent above 70. C3 and C5 are flat talent levels on Skill and Burst.

What do the biggest Zibai build pages get wrong?

Two errors on the top-ranking database page for her name are worth correcting, because both would change what you equip.

Harbinger of Dawn does not give 56% CRIT DMG. GenshinBuilds lists it at R5 as "28% CRIT Rate and 56% CRIT DMG." The weapon's CRIT DMG is a fixed secondary stat that reaches 46.9% at level 90, and refinement does not change a weapon's secondary stat — refinement only scales the Vigorous passive, which grants CRIT Rate only, from 14% at R1 to 28% at R5. There is no CRIT DMG component to the passive at all.

Uraku Misugiri does not convert DEF into damage. The same page describes it as a "DEF-scaling passive [that] converts 20% DEF into Normal Attack and Skill DMG." The actual passive, Brocade Bloom Shrine Sword, has three independent clauses: Normal Attack DMG +16%, Elemental Skill DMG +24% (both doubled for 15s after a nearby active character deals Geo damage), and separately DEF +20%. Nothing is converted. The distinction matters on Zibai specifically, because her Lunar-Crystallize hits do not scale with damage-percentage buffs — so Uraku's headline clause only feeds the plain-Geo half of her output, while the DEF clause feeds everything.

One genuine open question, flagged rather than guessed: Zibai and Linnea share an identically worded Moonsign Benediction clause (0.7% Lunar-Crystallize base damage per 100 DEF, capped at 14%). Whether two copies stack is not published by HoYoverse and not resolved by current theorycrafting, so do not build a second DEF stacker on the assumption that it does.

FAQ

Can I still pull Zibai in Version 7.1? No. Her only banner was Harmonious Abundance, 3–24 February 2026, and she has had no rerun. She is not in the Standard Wish selector event, and the official Tabletop Troupe notice lists its event-exclusive 5-stars as Tartaglia, Nilou, Baizhu, Chiori, Clorinde and Varesa — Zibai is not one of them.

Does ATK do anything for Zibai? Practically nothing. Every damage figure in her talent tables is expressed as a percentage of DEF, and her A1 additive bonus is also a percentage of DEF. This is why a 3-star sword with 401 base ATK can outperform 4-star weapons with far higher attack on her.

Should I use a Geo DMG Goblet on Zibai? No. The Lunar reaction damage model has no elemental damage bonus term, so Geo DMG% only improves her plain-Geo hits and does nothing for her Lunar-Crystallize damage — and Keqing Mains puts the Lunar-Crystallize hits of her special Skill alone at roughly half her total output at C0. A DEF% Goblet improves both halves.

How much DEF does Zibai actually need? For the team-wide buff, exactly 2,000, and a Flute of Ezpitzal build with a DEF% Sands and one Geo ally already passes that at around 2,471. Past 2,000, extra DEF is purely her own damage. Her base DEF at level 90 is 956.85.

Why does Zibai need a second Moonsign character? Ascendant Gleam requires two Moonsign characters in the party, and Zibai's own passive only raises the party's Moonsign level by one. Ascendant Gleam is what lets her N4 deal Lunar-Crystallize damage, lets her bank 35 Radiance per teammate reaction, and gates her C2 A1 upgrade. Without it, her rotation stalls and large parts of her kit stay switched off.
