Quick answer. Baizhu is a 5-star Dendro Catalyst support who heals, protects and buffs Dendro reactions. Build him for Max HP and Energy Recharge: an ER% or HP% Sands, an HP% Goblet and an HP% Circlet, with 4-piece Ocean-Hued Clam as the all-round set or 4-piece Deepwood Memories when nobody else carries it. The best free weapon is a refined Prototype Amber, which you can craft; his signature Jadefall's Splendor is only a small upgrade. Level his Burst first, then his Skill, and skip his Normal Attack. His 4th Ascension passive scales with Max HP up to 50,000, where it adds 100% Bloom, Hyperbloom, Burgeon and Burning DMG, 40% to Aggravate and Spread, and 35% to Lunar-Bloom for the character his Burst heals. You can get him free right now: he is in the Tabletop Troupe selector, which closes on 3 November 2026 at 14:59 server time. His last Character Event Wish ended on 4 June 2024.

Can you get Baizhu for free in Version 7.1?
Yes, until 3 November 2026 at 14:59 server time. HoYoverse's in-game announcement 21924, "Tabletop Troupe: A Gathering on Adventure's Eve", lets you invite one event-exclusive 5-star. The pool, in HoYoverse's words, is "Tartaglia, Nilou, Baizhu, Chiori, Clorinde, and Varesa."
The rules that matter:
- Eligibility: Adventure Rank 18 or higher, plus Archon Quest Chapter VII: Act IV, "A Rekviem for the Underworld". After the Prologue's Act III you can travel to Snezhnaya and start Chapter VII directly, so the regions in between are skippable. Our Version 7.1 Archon Quest guide walks the route.
- One pick only. The notice says: "You can invite a character only once during the event."
- Materials included. The invite comes with Baizhu's ascension materials. HoYoverse's Version 7.1 benefits overview (announcement 21923) says they cover him up to level 60, so the last three ascensions are yours to farm.
- Deadline in your time zone: 14:59 server time is 06:59 UTC on Asia, 13:59 UTC on Europe and 19:59 UTC on America, all on 3 November.

Is Baizhu worth picking from the selector?
Pick him if you play Nilou Bloom, Furina teams, or any Dendro reaction team that needs a healer. Skip him if you want a damage dealer: he has almost none of his own.
The case for him starts with scarcity. The wiki's wish history lists three Character Event Wishes for Baizhu, all called "Immaculate Pulse": May 2023 (Version 3.6), November 2023 (4.2) and 14 May to 4 June 2024 (4.6). His only appearance since then was the January 2025 Chronicled Wish, which closed on 11 February 2025. That is 20 months without any wish that can drop him, and HoYoverse has not announced Version 7.2's banners.
The case against him is that he is a support. KeqingMains' Baizhu guide, last updated for Version 4.6, puts it bluntly: he "Lacks any significant personal damage, even with Constellations or 5-star Catalysts." His value is that one slot covers four jobs at once: party healing on a 10-second Skill, interruption resistance from his Burst shields, Dendro application, and a reaction buff.
Players weighing the same pool on r/GenshinImpactTips this week mostly pushed damage dealers. One reply on 14 October summed up the problem with every option: "all of them don't provide much to ur account". If your account already has a Dendro reaction team that is short a healer, Baizhu is the pick that fixes an actual gap.
What does Baizhu's kit actually do?
- Elemental Skill, Universal Diagnosis. Sends a Gossamer Sprite that hits up to 3 times for Dendro DMG, then returns and heals the whole party based on his Max HP. 10-second cooldown, and it generates 3.5 Elemental Particles when it hits. Party-wide healing on a Skill is rare, which is why he pairs so well with Furina.
- Elemental Burst, Holistic Revivification. 80 Energy, 20-second cooldown, 14-second duration. He creates a Seamless Shield on your active character every 2.5 seconds, six shields in total. Each one absorbs Dendro DMG at 250% effectiveness. When a shield expires, breaks or is replaced, it heals the active character and fires a Spiritvein for Dendro DMG.
- 1st Ascension passive, Five Fortunes Forever. If the active character is below 50% HP, Baizhu gets 20% Healing Bonus. At 50% or above, he gets 25% Dendro DMG Bonus.
- 4th Ascension passive, All Things Are of the Earth. This is the build-defining talent. Anyone healed by a Seamless Shield gets Year of Verdant Favor for 6 seconds: per 1,000 of Baizhu's Max HP, up to 50,000, they gain 2% Burning, Bloom, Hyperbloom and Burgeon DMG, 0.7% Lunar-Bloom DMG, and 0.8% on the Aggravate and Spread bonus.
- Utility passive, Herbal Nourishment. Harvesting certain plants heals your active character for 2.5% of his Max HP. A small top-up while exploring, irrelevant in combat.
Two details trip players up. First, the A4 buff only goes to characters healed by the Burst shields, which means your active character, not the whole party. Second, the Lunar-Bloom part is new: the wiki's change history shows it was added in Version "Luna I", so older guides still quote only the original reactions.
How much HP does Baizhu need? The 50,000 cap math
The A4 buff grows in a straight line with his Max HP, not in steps, and stops at 50,000. Here is what it is worth at each point:

How close does a normal build get? Baizhu's base HP at level 90 is 13,348, and his ascension stat adds 28.8% HP. Using a 5-star flower (4,780 HP) and 46.6% HP% main stats:
- ER% Sands, HP% Goblet and Circlet, R5 Prototype Amber (41.3% HP): about 39,900 Max HP before substats. That is roughly an 80% Bloom buff.
- HP% Sands, Goblet and Circlet, R5 Prototype Amber: about 46,100 Max HP before substats. You need only about 29% more HP%, roughly six average HP% substat rolls, to hit the cap.
So the real choice is ER versus HP on the Sands. If you can reach his Energy target with substats or a Favonius teammate, an HP% Sands is how you get the full buff.
What are the best artifacts for Baizhu?
Main stats: Sands = ER% or HP% · Goblet = HP% · Circlet = HP% (Healing Bonus only if HP is already high). Substats: ER% until he bursts every rotation, then HP%.

KQM's advice on Deepwood is worth repeating: Baizhu "can struggle to consistently trigger the 4pc effect in AoE scenarios", because his Skill targets three enemies at most and his Burst projectile usually hits one. If Nahida or another reliable Dendro character is on the team, give Deepwood to them and put Baizhu in Ocean-Hued Clam.
What is Baizhu's best weapon?

The honest verdict: don't pull for Jadefall's Splendor. KQM calls it "a very niche option that is basically only viable on Baizhu" and says R5 Prototype Amber is "essentially a free version" of it. Prototype Amber is forged at a Blacksmith with a blueprint and refined with extra blueprints, so every account can get one.
How much Energy Recharge does Baizhu need?
A lot, because his Burst costs 80. These are KQM's estimates (calculated for Version 4.5) with an R5 Prototype Amber:
- Solo Dendro team, one Skill per rotation: 250 to 290% ER
- Solo Dendro, two Skills: 160 to 180%
- With Nahida, two Skills: 130 to 140%
- With Fischl, two Skills: 135 to 155%
- On-field Raiden team: 110 to 130%
The pattern is clear: cast his Skill twice per rotation whenever the team allows it, and pair him with a second Dendro character. Either halves his Energy problem. A Favonius user on the team lowers the target by about another 10%.
Which talents should you level first?
Burst first, then Skill, Normal Attack never. The Burst raises his shield and single-target healing. The Skill raises party healing. His Normal Attack damage is negligible even when he drives.
Talent books are Gold (Taishan Mansion, open Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday). Levels 7 to 10 also need Worldspan Fern from the level 70+ Guardian of Apep's Oasis. One talent from 1 to 10 costs 1,652,500 Mora, 3 Teachings, 21 Guides and 38 Philosophies of Gold, 6 Worldspan Fern and 1 Crown of Insight. Full cost from level 1 to 90 is 420,000 Mora, 46 Evergloom Ring, 168 Violetgrass, the Nagadus Emerald line (1 Sliver, 9 Fragments, 9 Chunks, 6 Gemstones) and the Fungal Spore line (18 Spores, 30 Luminescent Pollen, 36 Crystalline Cyst Dust).
If the selector covers him to level 60 as HoYoverse's benefits overview says, the three ascensions you still farm need:
- 300,000 Mora
- 40 Evergloom Ring, from the Iniquitous Baptist at the Gate of Zulqarnain in Gavireh Lajavard, Sumeru
- 9 Nagadus Emerald Chunks and 6 Gemstones, from Dendro normal bosses such as the Dendro Hypostasis and Jadeplume Terrorshroom
- 135 Violetgrass, a Liyue specialty
- 18 Luminescent Pollen and 36 Crystalline Cyst Dust, from Fungi

What are the best Baizhu teams?
- Nilou Bloom: Nilou, Nahida, Baizhu, plus a Hydro character such as Kokomi or Xingqiu. Nilou's rule is a party of only Hydro and Dendro, and Baizhu fits it. His healing covers Bloom self-damage. See our Nilou build guide.

- Aggravate and Spread: an Electro carry such as Cyno or Keqing, Fischl, Baizhu, and Kazuha or a second Dendro. He applies Dendro from his Burst for 14 seconds and adds up to 40% to Aggravate.
- Hyperbloom: Baizhu, Nahida, a Hydro applier such as Xingqiu or Yelan, and an Electro trigger such as Kuki Shinobu or Raiden. The A4 buff goes to whoever is on field when his shields heal.

Which Baizhu constellations matter?
KQM's line is the useful one: "Baizhu is fully functional at C0." A selector copy is C0, and that is fine.
- C1, Attentive Observation: a second Skill charge. Easier Energy and more party healing.
- C2, Incisive Discernment: a free Gossamer Sprite every 5 seconds when your active character hits an enemy. Off-field Dendro application, the best upgrade for reaction teams.
- C3, All Aspects Stabilized: +3 Burst levels.
- C4, Ancient Art of Perception: +80 Elemental Mastery to the party for 15 seconds after his Burst.
- C5, The Hidden Ebb and Flow: +3 Skill levels.
- C6, Elimination of Malicious Qi: Spiritveins gain 8% of his Max HP as DMG, and each Sprite hit makes an extra Seamless Shield.

HoYoverse has not announced Version 7.2's banners, so any rerun date you see now comes from leaks.
Is Baizhu a DPS or a support? A support. KQM's guide says he "Lacks any significant personal damage", and his kit is built around healing, shields, Dendro application and a reaction buff for the active character. You can drive with him on field, but someone else should be the damage dealer.
Should Baizhu use an ER or HP Sands? Use ER% if he cannot burst every rotation without it, which is common in solo Dendro teams. Switch to HP% once substats or a Favonius teammate cover his Energy, because an HP% Sands is the only realistic way to reach the 50,000 Max HP cap on his 4th Ascension passive.
Is Jadefall's Splendor worth pulling for Baizhu? No. It has 49.6% HP and an Energy refund, but R5 Prototype Amber gives almost the same result and you can craft it. A constellation or a weapon for your damage dealer is a better use of wishes.
