Every "Vodyanitsa build" page published this week has a weapon recommendation, an artifact set and a talent priority on it. HoYoverse has published none of those things. Not her rarity, not her weapon type, not a single multiplier.
What HoYoverse has published is a full Character Skill Showcase — three talent names, their descriptions, the exact effects of the object her whole kit revolves around, and a picture of her ascension costs. That is more than enough to build around before her banner opens, and it is very different from the numbers-first pages currently ranking. Here is the confirmed version.
Quick answer: "Lingering Siren-Song" Vodyanitsa is a Hydro character from Snezhnaya who debuts on the "Surging Ballad" Event Wish after the Version 7.1 update on 23 September 2026. HoYoverse frames her as "a versatile support who aids allies with song", with four listed jobs: multi-element RES reduction, sustained healing, DMG boost and interruption resistance. All of it flows through the Horn of Spring's Call, summoned by her Elemental Skill "Rechitativ: Sonorous Dawn". With an Anemo teammate she upgrades a Stellar Vortex into a Wandering Vortex, which additionally shreds Anemo RES and swaps her Hydro/Cryo DMG Bonuses for a Stellar Swirl DMG Bonus. Her rarity, weapon type, constellations, talent numbers and signature weapon are still unpublished — so any build guide quoting her scaling is guessing.
Article status: verified 19 September 2026 against first-party sources only. Kit text, talent names and the support framing are transcribed from the official Vodyanitsa Character Skill Showcase on HoYoLAB (post 46691872, published 14 September 2026), including the in-image panels. Banner name, element and timing cross-checked against the official Version 7.1 posts and the live in-game announcement feed, polled 19 September 2026. Ascension and talent material icons are read off HoYoverse's own "The Prima Donna's Performance Prep" panel. No leak, beta build, datamine or third-party tier list is used anywhere in this article.
Who is Vodyanitsa in Genshin Impact?
She is the Prima Donna of the Korolevskiy Troupe, tied to Snezhnaya, and her full in-game title is "Lingering Siren-Song" Vodyanitsa. Her element is Hydro — confirmed in HoYoverse's own banner line: "The 'Surging Ballad' Event Wish will be available after the Version 7.1 update on September 23. During this event, 'Lingering Siren-Song' Vodyanitsa (Hydro) will receive a huge drop rate boost!"
That sentence is the only officially published statement about her availability. No maintenance notice, no Event Wish notice and no exact start hour existed as of this morning's announcement-feed poll. Version 7.1 "A Rekviem for the Underworld" is the patch she arrives in, and her banner runs in parallel with Vesna's — the two share one guarantee count, which we cover in the Genshin 7.1 banners breakdown.
Vodyanitsa's confirmed kit
HoYoverse's showcase gives three talents by name. The descriptions below are the official ones.
Normal Attack — "Psyshkhwe Arietta". "Sings an ancient Water Imp song, dealing Hydro DMG." Note what is missing: no swing count, no charged-attack clause, no stamina line. The animation shows her performing rather than striking, which is why so many people have already decided she is a catalyst user. That is a reasonable inference — it is not a confirmation, and HoYoverse has not printed a weapon type.
Elemental Skill — "Rechitativ: Sonorous Dawn". "Upon casting her Elemental Skill, Vodyanitsa reveals her Water Imp form and summons the ancient Horn of Spring's Call to fight alongside her." The Skill has two presses. Tap is the In Combat version. Hold is the Out of Combat version, and it is a traversal state — the showcase pairs it with her line, "Look at my tail! If anyone spots me while I'm out having fun, I'll give my tail a flick and dart away in a flash…"
Elemental Burst — "Koda: Sink With Thee". "Takes the lead in a beguiling Water Imp song that lures its listeners into the depths, dealing AoE Hydro DMG."
That is the whole published talent list. Three names, three sentences, zero numbers.
The Horn of Spring's Call is the actual build
If you only remember one thing before her banner, remember that Vodyanitsa's Skill is not really a damage button — it is a summon, and the summon carries four separate team buffs. HoYoverse lists them explicitly:
- Hydro and Cryo RES Reduction applied to enemies.
- Hydro and Cryo DMG Increase for the party.
- Continuous Healing for the active character.
- Increased Interruption Resistance for the active character.
Read that list as a design brief. One unit is covering the RES-shred slot, the damage-buff slot, the sustain slot and the poise slot at the same time. In practical terms she is competing for a flex support seat, not a sub-DPS seat — she replaces whichever of those four roles your team is currently paying a whole character for.
It also tells you which teams she is actually for: the buff explicitly names Hydro and Cryo. This is not a universal buffer. Slot her next to a Pyro on-field carry and two of her four listed effects do nothing for their damage.
The other structural detail worth planning around: three of the four effects target the active character, not the whole party. Healing and interruption resistance follow whoever you are driving. That is friendly to a single-carry team and less friendly to a rotation that swaps constantly.
Vodyanitsa and Stellar Swirl: the Wandering Vortex upgrade
The most build-relevant part of the showcase is her Anemo interaction, and it is the part most summaries have flattened into one line. HoYoverse states that her song "weaves through the swirling winds, further enhancing the 'Stellar Vortex' generated by the Stellar Swirl Reaction" — the Vortex is upgraded into a Wandering Vortex.
When a Wandering Vortex is generated or detonated, two things change:
- Enemies' Anemo RES is reduced — a third element added to the Hydro and Cryo shred she already brings.
- Her Hydro and Cryo DMG Bonuses are replaced with a Stellar Swirl DMG Bonus.
Replaced, not stacked. That word does real work. It means Vodyanitsa has two distinct build identities and you pick one with your team, not with your artifacts: either she is a Hydro/Cryo enabler buffing elemental damage directly, or she is a Stellar Swirl piece whose buff is redirected into the reaction itself. Running a half-committed team gets you the worse half of both.
She can also extend the duration of teammates' "Radiance: Stellar Swirl" state, which is a uniquely support-flavoured line — a buff on someone else's buff window. HoYoverse closes the section with the summary that matters: "Whether teaming up with Cryo and Hydro allies or centering your strategy around the Stellar Swirl Reaction, Vodyanitsa's song provides reliable support either way."
Vodyanitsa ascension materials
HoYoverse published the cost as a picture, not a list. The "The Prima Donna's Performance Prep" panel shows four ascension material icons and three talent level-up icons, all unlabelled — no item names anywhere on the panel.
What is visible, described exactly as drawn:
- Ascension slot 1 — a cluster of blue gems. Every Hydro character ascends on the Varunada Lazurite family, so this is the predictable one.
- Ascension slot 2 — a white-and-yellow flower. This is the local specialty slot, and the flower is not one of the existing regional specialties shown in the panel art.
- Ascension slot 3 — a dark teal orb with a ring around it. This is the version boss-drop slot.
- Ascension slot 4 — a small pink creature. This is the common enemy drop slot.
- Talent slot 1 — a brown teaching-book scroll.
- Talent slot 2 — a ringed orb in a paler blue-grey, clearly from the same design family as ascension slot 3.
- Talent slot 3 — a white-and-gold weapon-shaped item, i.e. the weekly boss drop slot.
The slot categories are fixed by Genshin's ascension system and are safe to plan against. The item names are not published, and anyone giving you a farming route with names attached has pulled them from a datamine.
So what can you actually pre-farm today? Honestly: not much that is Vodyanitsa-specific. The gem family is the only safe bet. The rational prep is generic — bank Condensed Resin, stockpile Hero's Wit and Mora, and keep a Crown of Insight unspent. Everything else should wait until 23 September, when the materials get names and the farming routes stop being guesswork.
The free head start to Level 60
There is one genuinely valuable line on that panel, and it is easy to miss because it is set in small type under the icons:
"Complete 'Test Run' and Archon Quest Chapter VII: Act IV – 'A Rekviem for the Underworld' within the specified duration to receive certain Ascension Materials, which can be used to increase the character's level to Level 60."
Two practical consequences. First, if you intend to pull her, do the 7.1 Archon Quest early in the patch — it pays you the ascension materials you would otherwise be farming blind. Second, the reward is time-limited ("within the specified duration"), so it is not something to leave for week five of the version. The Archon Quest also gates the separate "Choose 1 of 6" 5-star invitation covered in our free 5-star selector breakdown.
Vodyanitsa team comps
Nothing below is a tier list. These are the team shapes her own published effects point at.
The Hydro/Cryo direct-buff team. Her RES shred and DMG increase both name Hydro and Cryo, so the straightforward build is a Cryo or Hydro on-field carry, Vodyanitsa as the Horn holder, and two slots free — freed up precisely because she is already covering healing and interruption resistance. This is the version that needs no Anemo unit and no reaction knowledge.
The Stellar Swirl team. This is the more interesting one and it is where the community conversation has actually landed. Because a Wandering Vortex swaps her buff over to a Stellar Swirl DMG Bonus and adds Anemo shred, the team wants an Anemo enabler plus a Stellar Swirl payload. The most-repeated player construction this week pairs Mizuki — whose C1 is obtainable free from the 7.1 selector plus Temper — with Odette, Cryo Traveler and a second Anemo unit such as Sucrose or Faruzan. Treat that as a community draft, not a solved comp: with no multipliers published, nobody can rank it yet.
The question people are actually asking. "Can I skip both Vesna and Vodyanitsa if I already have a working roster?" For most accounts, yes — she is a flex support, not a fix for a broken team, and the two banners share one pity, so passing costs you nothing toward Phase 2. The case for pulling is narrower and clearer: you want one character to cover shred, buff, heal and poise at once, and your carry is Hydro, Cryo or Stellar Swirl. Her sibling banner is covered in the Vesna build guide.
What is still not published
Four gaps, listed plainly, because every one of them is being filled in with invented numbers elsewhere:
- Rarity. Not stated. The Event Wish structure makes a 5-star overwhelmingly likely, but HoYoverse has not printed it.
- Weapon type. Not stated. "Sings" plus an empty-handed animation reads as catalyst; that is an inference, not a fact. Our 7.1 banners page recorded the same gap on 18 September and it has not closed since.
- Talent numbers, constellations and passives. Entirely absent. There is no ratio, duration, cooldown, energy cost or stack cap anywhere in the official material.
- Signature weapon and artifact set. Two event-exclusive 5-star weapons are in the 7.1 weapon wish, but HoYoverse has not paired either with her. Any "best weapon for Vodyanitsa" claim right now is assigning one on vibes.
Expect all of it at once when the in-game Event Wish notice publishes — historically around two days before the version, so roughly 21 September. We re-poll the announcement feed daily and update this page when it lands.
FAQ
Is Vodyanitsa a Hydro character? Yes. HoYoverse names her element directly as Hydro in the official Surging Ballad banner line and in her Character Skill Showcase.
When does the Vodyanitsa banner start? The "Surging Ballad" Event Wish becomes available after the Version 7.1 update on 23 September 2026. No exact hour has been published because no maintenance or Event Wish notice exists yet. Server-by-server timings are in our Genshin 7.1 release date guide.
What weapon does Vodyanitsa use? Unpublished. Her Normal Attack description says she sings rather than strikes, which points toward a catalyst, but HoYoverse has not stated a weapon type and nobody can confirm one yet.
Is Vodyanitsa a 5-star? HoYoverse has not printed her rarity. She headlines her own Event Wish with a "huge drop rate boost", which is the 5-star banner structure, but the rarity itself is not officially confirmed.
What are Vodyanitsa's talents called? Normal Attack "Psyshkhwe Arietta", Elemental Skill "Rechitativ: Sonorous Dawn", and Elemental Burst "Koda: Sink With Thee".
What does the Horn of Spring's Call do? It reduces enemy Hydro and Cryo RES, increases the party's Hydro and Cryo DMG, continuously heals the active character, and raises the active character's interruption resistance.
What is a Wandering Vortex? It is the upgraded form of the Stellar Vortex produced by the Stellar Swirl Reaction, created when Vodyanitsa's song enhances it. Generating or detonating one reduces enemy Anemo RES and replaces her Hydro and Cryo DMG Bonuses with a Stellar Swirl DMG Bonus.
Can I pre-farm Vodyanitsa's ascension materials? Only the Hydro gem family, which is safe to assume. The other six material icons in HoYoverse's panel are unlabelled, so no farming route can be confirmed until 23 September.
Do Vesna and Vodyanitsa share pity? Yes. The two Version 7.1 Phase 1 banners run in parallel and the guarantee count is shared between Character Event Wish and Character Event Wish-2, accumulating across both.
We update this page, not just publish it. Every Genshin page here is re-checked against the live in-game announcement feed, so when Vodyanitsa's kit numbers publish, the build section changes the same day.
