Palworld Astralym Hard Mode: How to Beat the Final Boss (Hard)

Palworld Astralym Hard Mode: How to Beat the Final Boss (Hard)

Beating Astralym on Hard Mode is a pure gear-and-DPS check, not an elemental puzzle — the boss is typeless, so counter-picking does nothing. On Hard the fight is Level 100 with 5,030,099 HP (game8/allthings.how, 1.0), roughly a 12× jump over the normal clear, and it plays like a full raid: you burn multiple Pal teams, rotate your Palbox in staggered waves, and survive two scripted DPS-check phases. The payoff is the whole reason to do it — the Dark Skill Fruit: Psycho Gravity (the best Dark attack in the game) and Zenara's Hat only drop on the Hard version, per IGN. Clear the normal fight first, then re-enter and pick Hard.

This guide covers the exact unlock chain, the two proven carry teams, the stat and gear floor, and the phase-by-phase mechanics — verified against IGN, game8, and the current live build (Palworld 1.0.4, `1.102.642`, early September 2026). If you haven't cleared the vanilla version yet, start with our normal Zenara & Astralym walkthrough first.

Just want the win without the 5-million-HP grind? A max-level, awakened, 4-star Pal team plus 2,500+ Attack weapons is a real time sink to build from scratch.

Quick answer: how to beat Hard Mode Astralym

  • It's typeless — no elemental weakness and nothing is resisted. Build for raw damage and survival, not type matchups.
  • HP is 5,030,099 at Level 100 (Hard). Normal Astralym is ~420,000 HP, so Hard is a different fight entirely.
  • Bring a refined team: 4-star condensed, Awakened, Max Trust, ~2,500–3,500 Attack and Defense per Pal. Two teams work great: Bellanoir Libero (Nightmare Bloom) or Eidrolon Ignis (Dragon/Fire stack).
  • Rotate your Palbox in waves. Deploy fresh Pal armies during the "drawing in energy" DPS-check phases so you always have burst ready.
  • Aim at Zenara, the small trainer perched on Astralym's head/chest — hitting her deals bonus damage.
  • Rewards drop on Hard only: Dark Skill Fruit: Psycho Gravity + Zenara's Hat cosmetic + 5 Ancient Technology Points.

How to unlock the Hard Mode Astralym fight

You cannot pick Hard until you've cleared the fight once on the normal difficulty, and you can't reach the fight at all until you've opened the Sealed Sanctum. The full gate (per IGN's 1.0 boss guide):

  • Finish the Panthalus questline to open the World Tree. Remember: you capture Panthalus, you don't kill it, then keep it in your active party at the World Tree terminal to drop the barrier. This is the single most common mistake players make on the way to the endgame.
  • Clear the three World Tree sub-bosses to break the inner seal:
  • Dandilord — a Grass/Dark Pal. Bring Fire and/or Dragon Pals; it falls fast.
  • Silvance — a Grass type; Fire is highly effective.
  • A gauntlet of "Highly Modified" Tower Bosses — fought back-to-back, so stock ammo and healing before you start. (New to the roster? Our Palworld tower boss order guide lists all nine and their counters.)
  • Head to the Sealed Sanctum on the center-west side of the World Tree map and enter it.
  • Beat the normal (vanilla) fight first. After that clear, re-select the fight and choose Hard.

While flying the World Tree to reach these bosses, avoid the floating white orbs — they act like mines and instantly delete your Pal mount.

Why Hard Mode is a DPS check, not a counter-pick

Every other Tower Boss in Palworld rewards bringing the correct elemental counter. Astralym breaks that rule. It is typeless: no weakness, no resistance, and it cycles multi-element attacks itself. That means your job is simply to output enough damage before its scripted phases wipe you — and to survive those phases.

This is exactly why the community consensus for Hard is to lean on player weapons over Pal elements. As one veteran put it in a recent r/Palworld thread on Hard tower bosses: "Player damage is generally easier to build a team for because you don't need perfect Pals and most of the passives you want come from infinite-use implants." Another player reported you can run a support team like Solenne, Vanwyrm Cryst, Cryolinx Terra, Vanwyrm and Silvegis, never summon a Pal, and still clear Hard-mode towers on player DPS alone.

That doesn't mean Pals are useless — the highest ceilings still come from stacked Pal teams. It means you have two viable paths, and the player-damage path is far more forgiving to gear.

Best team builds for Hard Mode Astralym

Bellanoir Libero fought during its raid encounter in Palworld, one of the named Hard-Mode carry Pals

Both builds below assume Level 80 Pals, Max Trust, Awakened, and 4-star condensed, with Attack (and Defense) in the 2,500–3,500 range per Pal (IGN's stated floor for the Hard fight). Below that, you will not out-DPS the enrage. If your roster isn't there yet, see our best combat Pals list and the Awakening + Radiant Gem farming guide to close the gap.

Team 1 — Bellanoir Libero (Nightmare Bloom)

Built around generic Partner-Skill buffs that push Bellanoir Libero's high-damage Nightmare Bloom to its limit.

  • Bellanoir Libero — Apocalypse, Nightmare Bloom, Dark Whisp · Siren of the Void, Diamond Body, God of Destruction, Immortality
  • Croajiro Noct — Hydro Slicer, Dark Laser, Dark Whisp · Idiosyncratic, Wellness Watcher, Vanguard, Stronghold Strategist
  • Orserk — Lightning Bolt, Lightning Strike, Meteorain · Demon God, Musclehead, Serenity, Lord of Lightning
  • Lapure — Hydro Slicer, Pal Blast, Holy Burst · Stronghold Strategist, Idiosyncratic, Immortality, Vanguard
  • Celesdir Noct — Dark Laser, Dark Whisp, Dark Nova · Idiosyncratic, Demon God, Vanguard, Stronghold Strategist

A player in this week's r/Palworld discussion noted their run went even harder with an Alpha Bellanoir Libero army, and one commenter claimed "one Libero solos Hard Astralym" — take the solo claim as an experienced-player flex rather than a beginner plan, but it shows how much a fully juiced Libero can carry.

Team 2 — Eidrolon Ignis (Dragon/Fire stack)

Built around Eidrolon Ignis' Resentful Pterosaur Partner Skill, which buffs its Movement Speed and Attack for every Dragon and Fire Pal in the party — so you stack those types. Blazamut Ryu piles on more buffs with its own Partner Skill.

  • Eidrolon Ignis — Blazing Beam, Fire Ball, Meteorain · Diamond Body, Immortality, Serenity, Legend
  • Blazamut Ryu — Fire Ball, Brawn Impact, Flame Funnel · Idiosyncratic, Reload Master, Vanguard, Stronghold Strategist
  • Orserk — Lightning Bolt, Lightning Strike, Meteorain · Demon God, Musclehead, Serenity, Lord of Lightning
  • Quivern — Meteorain, Dragon Meteor, Diamond Rain · Stronghold Strategist, Idiosyncratic, Reload Master, Vanguard
  • Celesdir Noct — Dark Laser, Dark Whisp, Dark Nova · Idiosyncratic, Demon God, Vanguard, Stronghold Strategist

Across both builds, the standout active skills are Apocalypse, Nightmare Bloom, Flame Waltz, Sand Twister and Circle Vine. Lovander with lifesteal is a strong flex slot for the player-survival path.

Gear and stat floor

  • Weapons: Plasma Rifle (Tech 78) and Drone Launcher are the workhorses; a Legendary Handgun and the Beam Launcher (Tech 80) also see use.
  • Accessories: Attack Pendant, Silvegis Emblem, Dogen Emblem, Warsect Terra's Belt — anything that stacks Attack or Defense — plus a Hyper Shield and healing potions.
  • Armor: Ancient Armour + Ancient Helmet (or Lightweight Ancient Armor for mobility).
  • Stats: ~2,500–3,500 Attack and Defense per Pal. This is where Awakening (×1.1 to HP/Atk/Def), 4-star condensing (+20%) and maxed IVs via Stat Fruits all matter — none of the pre-July-2026 "IVs are locked at capture" advice applies anymore in 1.0.

Phase-by-phase: surviving the Hard fight

Palworld Astralym boss battle mid-fight, unleashing a large energy attack across the Sealed Sanctum arena

Astralym's Hard fight is scripted around two things: staying alive through its beam and gravity attacks, and passing its DPS-check phases.

Open by drawing aggro. When the fight begins, rush in with your Wing Glider and attack Astralym directly so it targets you instead of your Pals. Keeping aggro on yourself is the single biggest survival lever — it keeps your damage-dealers alive.

Rotate Pal armies from the Palbox. This is the mechanic that separates a clear from a wipe. Instead of dumping all 15 Pals at once, arrange several teams and deploy them in staggered waves. When a "drawing in energy" phase hits, you must pass a high damage threshold in a short window or you'll likely die — so keep a fresh army in reserve to burst on cue. Throwing all 15 out from the start is high-risk, high-reward; staggering is safer.

Dodge the pink attacks. Avoid the giant circular pink beam — it can wipe even a top-tier team — and glide away from the large pink puddle on the ground (that's Psycho Gravity). Small-hitbox Pals survive the beam better than giant Pals, whose big hitboxes eat extra damage.

Watch for the enrage. When Astralym drops to low HP it stands still and charges a massive attack with the callout "Astralym's power is rising!" That's your burst window — unload everything you have to finish it before the charge completes.

Aim at Zenara. Throughout the fight, hit Zenara, the small trainer perched on Astralym's head/chest, whenever you can — it deals bonus damage and speeds up every phase.

The Lyleen medic revive trick (keep your army alive)

One of the most useful player-discovered tricks for Hard raids came out of this week's Hard Astralym threads: use Lily & Lyleen's Lyleen as a field medic. If your base or reserve Pals go down, drag a downed Pal into your active team, trigger Lyleen's partner skill to revive up to 4 Pals at once, then swap the revived Pal back to your base. Because you can cycle Lyleen in and out of the Palbox, the revives are effectively repeatable — a huge deal in a fight where you're expected to lose Pals to the DPS-check phases.

FAQ

Is Hard Mode Astralym worth doing? Yes, if you want the best Dark attack in the game. The Dark Skill Fruit: Psycho Gravity and the Zenara's Hat cosmetic drop only on Hard — the normal clear gives EXP and 5 Ancient Technology Points but none of the signature loot. If you're chasing full completion or a top-tier Dark build, Hard is the only source.

What level should I be for Hard Astralym? You should be player Level 80 with a team of Level 80 Pals that are Awakened, 4-star condensed, at Max Trust, and pushing 2,500–3,500 Attack. The boss itself is Level 100 with 5,030,099 HP, so under-geared runs simply run out of damage before the enrage.

Does elemental type matter against Astralym? No. Astralym is typeless — it has no weakness and resists nothing, and it uses multi-element attacks itself. Bring your highest raw-damage Pals and weapons instead of a counter-pick. This is why many players just focus on player weapon damage and barely summon Pals at all.

Should I capture Astralym? You can't. Astralym cannot be captured through normal play — it's obtainable only via mods or save-editing, which we don't recommend. Don't waste Legendary Spheres on it.

Why does my run keep wiping during the "power is rising" phase? That's the DPS check. If you don't burst Astralym down fast enough during the charge, it lands its massive attack and can wipe your team. Stagger your Palbox deployments so you always have a fresh, buffed army to dump damage during those windows, and keep aggro on yourself with the Wing Glider so your damage-dealers survive to the burst.

Is there a timer on the fight? Standard Tower Bosses were dropped to a 5-minute limit in 1.0, but the final Astralym fight appears to be an exception — in-game footage shows a much longer clock, and community sources don't agree on a fixed number. Treat it as a survival-and-DPS fight rather than a race, and don't count on a hard timer.
