Palworld 1.0 rebuilt its tower boss gauntlet from the ground up. There are now nine tower bosses — not the seven from early access — spread across Palpagos, Sakurajima, Feybreak, the new Sunreach sky islands, and the World Tree, and every fight was retimed into a sharper five-minute damage check. This guide lists all nine in the order you should fight them, with each boss's level, tower location, element, and the counter that beats it, plus how to unlock the two new 1.0 towers and what the final boss actually is.
Everything here is checked against the live build, 1.0.2.101103 (released July 30, 2026), and Pocketpair's official 1.0 patch notes.
Quick answer: Palworld 1.0 has nine tower bosses. Fight them lowest level to highest: Zoe & Grizzbolt (10), Lily & Lyleen (20), Axel & Orserk (30), Marcus & Faleris (40), Victor & Shadowbeak (50), Saya & Selyne (55), Bjorn & Bastigor (60), Auri & Shaolong (68), and finally Zenara & Astralym (80) at the World Tree. You can take the first seven in any order; the last two are locked behind story progression. Every fight now runs on a 5-minute timer (down from 10), so bring a Pal team that counters the boss's element or you will run out of time.
If the climb to 80 is the part you want to skip, our Palworld leveling service handles it on PC, Xbox and PlayStation, on your own world or a dedicated server.

Key takeaways
- There are 9 tower bosses in Palworld 1.0, up from 7 in early access. Any guide that still says seven — or ends at Saya & Selyne — is out of date.
- Fight them in level order, roughly 10 → 80. The first seven can be done in any sequence; Auri & Shaolong and Zenara & Astralym are gated behind progression.
- Each fight has a 5-minute timer (cut from 10) and rebalanced stats, so raw damage matters more than it used to. Bring the correct elemental counter.
- Six of the nine bosses die to a single counter element — build one strong team per element and you cover most of the gauntlet.
- The final boss, Zenara & Astralym (Level 80), is typeless and has no elemental weakness. It is a pure gear-and-level check at the new cap.
- First clears pay big one-time EXP plus Ancient Technology Points, so the tower run doubles as one of the best leveling milestones in the game.
How do tower bosses work in Palworld 1.0?
Tower bosses are the boss fights that gate Palworld's main story. Each tower belongs to a faction (or, for the last two, to the endgame regions), and clearing it for the first time awards a large chunk of EXP plus Ancient Technology Points — the special currency you spend on ancient-tier tech near the cap.
Two things changed at the full release. First, the count: 1.0 added two new towers, raising the total from seven to nine — Auri & Shaolong in the Sunreach sky islands and Zenara & Astralym at the World Tree, the game's true final boss. Second, the pacing. Pocketpair's official 1.0 patch notes state: "To improve overall game pacing, the time limit has been reduced from 10 minutes to 5 minutes, and boss stats have been adjusted accordingly." Every arena was redesigned and every boss gained new attacks, so a team that coasted through these fights in early access will now run out the clock.
That five-minute limit turns each encounter into a damage check. The single biggest lever you control is elemental typing — bringing Pals whose attacks are super-effective against the boss can cut a fight from a timeout loss to a comfortable clear. The table below gives you exactly which element to bring for each.
All 9 Palworld tower bosses in order
Here is the full gauntlet, lowest level to highest, with each boss's element and the element that counters it. You can fight the first seven in whatever order you like; the last two unlock through story progression (covered further down).
| # | Tower boss | Level | Element | Counter with | Region |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Zoe & Grizzbolt | 10 | Electric | Ground | Rayne Syndicate Tower, Palpagos |
| 2 | Lily & Lyleen | 20 | Grass | Fire | Free Pal Alliance Tower, Palpagos |
| 3 | Axel & Orserk | 30 | Electric / Dragon | Ice or Ground | Brothers of the Eternal Pyre Tower |
| 4 | Marcus & Faleris | 40 | Fire | Water | PIDF Tower |
| 5 | Victor & Shadowbeak | 50 | Dark | Dragon | PAL Genetic Research Unit Tower |
| 6 | Saya & Selyne | 55 | Dark | Dragon | Moonflower Tower, Sakurajima |
| 7 | Bjorn & Bastigor | 60 | Ice | Fire | Feybreak Tower |
| 8 | Auri & Shaolong | 68 | Water / Dragon | Electric or Ice | Sunreach (new in 1.0) |
| 9 | Zenara & Astralym | 80 | Typeless | No weakness | World Tree (final boss, new in 1.0) |
Recommended level is roughly the boss's own level or a little above — you can win under-levelled with a hard elemental counter, but the five-minute timer punishes it.
1. Zoe & Grizzbolt — Level 10 (Electric)
The tutorial-tier tower and almost everyone's first. Grizzbolt is Electric, so bring Ground Pals, which take no damage from its shocks and hit back hard. It is a gentle introduction to the timer, but do not skip the elemental prep — it builds the habit you need for every fight after.
2. Lily & Lyleen — Level 20 (Grass)
Lyleen is a Grass type, cleanly countered by Fire. Fire damage-over-time is especially strong here because it keeps ticking while you dodge. A mid-tier Fire team with a decent ranged weapon closes this out well inside the clock.
3. Axel & Orserk — Level 30 (Electric / Dragon)
Orserk is dual Electric and Dragon, so it resists a lot but folds to Ice (which hits the Dragon side) or Ground (which hits the Electric side). Ice is the cleaner pick. This is the first boss where a wrong team really shows — its damage output is a step up.
4. Marcus & Faleris — Level 40 (Fire)
Faleris is a Fire phoenix, so Water Pals are the answer. It is fast and aggressive in the air, so a Water team plus a ranged weapon to chip it out of dive attacks makes the difference. Keep moving — its fire trails cover a lot of arena.
5. Victor & Shadowbeak — Level 50 (Dark)
Shadowbeak is a Dark type; Dragon Pals counter it. This was the old early-access final tower, so it is a genuine difficulty wall — high mobility, big burst attacks. Bring your best Dragon team and strong armor. (Note: the 1.0.2 patch fixed a bug where Shadowbeak could disappear after a teleport attack, so update first if you see it vanish.)
6. Saya & Selyne — Level 55 (Dark)
The first Sakurajima tower. Selyne is also Dark, so your Dragon counter team from Shadowbeak carries straight over. The fight is tighter and faster than Shadowbeak's, so lean on gear and sphere-swapping to keep pressure on the whole five minutes.
7. Bjorn & Bastigor — Level 60 (Ice)
The Feybreak tower. Bastigor is Ice, cleanly beaten by Fire. Fire is doubly good here because it thaws the freeze effects the boss layers on you. Clearing this is what unlocks the path to the two new 1.0 towers.
8. Auri & Shaolong — Level 68 (Water / Dragon)
The first of the two new 1.0 bosses, found in the Sunreach sky islands (its tower only opens after you clear Feybreak). Auri & Shaolong are dual Water and Dragon, which means Electric and Ice are both especially effective — Electric shreds the Water side, Ice hits the Dragon side. Bring one or the other and play aggressively; at Level 68 the damage is real.
9. Zenara & Astralym — Level 80 (Typeless)
The final boss of Palworld 1.0, at the World Tree, sitting right at the new Level 80 cap. Zenara & Astralym are typeless — there is no element to exploit, so this is a pure gear-and-level check. Come at or near 80 with your strongest all-round team, your best weapons, and top-tier armor, and expect a real test of your damage output against the clock.
How do you unlock the last two tower bosses?
The first seven towers are open to tackle in any order once you reach them. The last two are different:
- Auri & Shaolong (Sunreach) unlock after you clear the Feybreak tower (Bjorn & Bastigor). Sunreach is the new sky-island region floating above Palpagos; you reach its tower after making your way through the region's defenses.
- Zenara & Astralym (World Tree) require all eight faction towers cleared plus the Panthalus questline to open the World Tree itself. This is the biggest gate in the game.
That Panthalus step trips up a lot of players: you have to capture Panthalus, not kill it, then bring it in your active party to the World Tree terminal to drop the barrier. We walk through the whole thing in our guide on how to beat Panthalus in Palworld 1.0 — do that before you expect to reach the final tower.

What is the fastest way to reach the tower bosses' level?
Every tower is a level gate as much as a skill gate — turning up under-levelled means losing to the five-minute timer no matter how good your dodging is. Because first clears also pay big one-time EXP plus Ancient Technology Points, the smart play is to level efficiently between towers so each one is in reach.
The fastest legitimate route in 1.0 is to stack EXP streams rather than grind one: chain-catch cheap Pals (a Capture Bonus now completes at just 5 catches), clear dungeons and camps for their new completion EXP, and keep a base passively crafting while you explore. Our full Palworld leveling guide breaks down the exact route to the Level 80 cap.
If you would rather skip the grind and jump straight to the towers you actually want to fight, that is exactly what our team does:
Short on time? Skip the spawn-field grind and land at the level you need to clear the towers that are blocking you.

Tips to beat any tower boss in 1.0
- Match the element. Six of the nine bosses fall to one counter element (see the table). Building a dedicated team per element — one Fire, one Water, one Dragon, one Ice, one Ground — covers the whole gauntlet.
- Respect the 5-minute clock. Fights are a damage check now. If you are timing out, your problem is almost always output: wrong element, under-levelled Pals, or a weak weapon.
- Bring a ranged weapon. Most tower bosses spend time airborne or dashing; a rifle or crossbow keeps chipping them when your Pals cannot reach.
- Update your game first. Several "broken" boss reports were pre-patch bugs — the 1.0.2 build fixed Shadowbeak vanishing after teleports and World Tree issues. If a fight behaves oddly, confirm you are on 1.0.2.101103.
- Come at or above the boss's level. You can win under-levelled with a hard counter, but the timer makes it a gamble. Level between towers so each fight starts in your favour.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many tower bosses are in Palworld? There are nine tower bosses in Palworld 1.0: Zoe & Grizzbolt, Lily & Lyleen, Axel & Orserk, Marcus & Faleris, Victor & Shadowbeak, Saya & Selyne, Bjorn & Bastigor, Auri & Shaolong, and Zenara & Astralym. Early access had seven; the July 10, 2026 full release added two new towers (Auri & Shaolong in Sunreach and the World Tree final boss). Any guide that still says seven is out of date.
What is the final boss in Palworld? The final boss is Zenara & Astralym at the World Tree, sitting at the Level 80 cap. Unlike the other towers, this duo is typeless — it has no elemental weakness — so beating it is a pure gear-and-level check rather than a counter-element puzzle. Reaching it requires clearing all eight faction towers plus the Panthalus questline.
In what order should you fight the tower bosses? Fight them from lowest level to highest, which also follows the reworked main story. You can take the first seven in any order you like, but the last two are locked: Auri & Shaolong open after you clear the Feybreak tower, and Zenara & Astralym require every faction tower plus the Panthalus quest.
How long do you have to beat a tower boss? Five minutes. The 1.0 patch notes state the time limit was "reduced from 10 minutes to 5 minutes, and boss stats have been adjusted accordingly." If you are hitting the timer, your damage is too low — check your element counter, your Pals' levels, and your weapon.
How do you get to the World Tree map to fast travel to the final boss? Once the World Tree is unlocked, switch to its map to fast travel there: on keyboard and mouse the default key to change maps is T, and on PS5 it is R2 while the normal world map is open — the on-screen prompt shows the button. You do not have to replay the cutscene each time.
Do I need a different Pal team for every tower boss? No. Because six of the nine bosses share just a few weaknesses (two are weak to Dragon, and Fire, Water, Ground, and Ice each counter one), a set of about five element-focused teams covers the entire gauntlet. Only the typeless final boss needs a pure all-round damage team instead of a counter.
