WoW Forever leveling guide 1-60

Updated Nov 6, 00:20 UTC: WoW Forever is live. Added the launch-build XP and respawn rules, the 206-207 gold training cost, Blizzard's Known Issues that touch leveling, and where the race to 60 stood 25 hours after launch.

Updated Oct 27, 2026: beta closed on October 23. Added Blizzard's full 13-60 dungeon list, the October beta XP changes and the Legacy "Well Rested" perk.

Quick answer: WoW Forever went live worldwide on November 4, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. PST (23:00 UTC), and leveling runs at Classic pace: 1-60, no XP multiplier, no Dungeon Finder. What fills the old dead zones is 1,000+ new quests and nine new five-player dungeons from level 13 to 60. Blizzard shipped launch with faster mob respawns in low-level zones (starting zones fastest) and says it will lower them once the launch surge settles. Training every class ability from 1 to 60 now costs 206-207 gold for every class. About 25 hours after launch, the fastest racers on a public stream tracker were at level 42, and nobody had reached 60. Raids unlock December 9.

Last verified: Nov 6, 2026, 00:15 UTC against the Blizzard forums tracker and news.blizzard.com.

TL;DR

  • Live since Nov 4, 23:00 UTC. Level cap 60. Everyone started at level 1. Nothing from the beta carried over.
  • 9 new dungeons, levels 13-60. The full table is below, next to the classic instances.
  • Launch XP rules: dungeon-quest bonus XP was cut 50% in beta, dungeon kill XP went up about 20%, and the party low-level penalty went back to the Classic Era per-player rule. The launch notes add no global or dungeon XP change, only XP tweaks on "various quests".
  • Respawns are boosted in low zones right now. Blizzard says it will bring them down "once the initial launch surge of low-level characters has settled down". It gave no date.
  • Budget gold: class training from 1 to 60 costs 206-207 gold, the same for every class.
  • Race pace: the top tracked streamers were at level 42 after about 25 hours (worldfirst60.com, unofficial).
  • Server trouble? Our live WoW Forever status page tracks outages and known issues.

What changed on November 6?

This is the first version of this guide since launch. Here is what we added, all checked against Blizzard's own posts:

  • The game is live. Blizzard's launch article now says Forever is "now live worldwide". Everything in this guide is about the live game, not the beta.
  • Respawn rates. In the launch build notes, Blizzard says it "adjusted respawn rates for many different areas in the world". The rates are "generally on the faster side in lower-level zones - with starting zones being the fastest" and slow down as you level (Blizzard dev notes, Nov 2 update).
  • Quest flow. The same notes adjust XP values on "various quests" and fix level requirements. Ruins of Lordaeron's dungeon quests now all need level 15 (some needed 16 before).
  • No big tuning before raids. Blizzard wrote: "With the exception of bugs and serious outliers, we don't plan on making big tuning changes between now and the opening of the raids next month." So outside bug fixes and outliers, Blizzard's stated plan is to leave classes broadly as they are until December 9.
  • Known issues that affect leveling. Blizzard's Known Issues list (updated Nov 5, 22:07 UTC) has disabled the Ashenvale quest "Vorsha the Lasher" "until a bug causing a crash can be fixed". It also warns about a cauldron near Roogug in Razorfen Kraul that you can fall into and get stuck in.
  • Travel. Blizzard developer Aggrend said on Nov 5 that boats and zeppelins have been "becoming lost in the maelstrom". As a temporary fix Blizzard put portals "near most transport docks or inside of the zeppelin towers". He added that a proper fix was going out the next morning and the portals will be removed once it is verified (forum post).
  • Empty zones. Aggrend also said some areas aren't "feeling as populated as they should" and that Blizzard would be "tweaking some numbers" the next day. He named no zones or numbers (forum post). Our layering explainer covers how layers split players.

How fast are players leveling in WoW Forever?

Nobody had hit 60 when we checked. At 00:08 UTC on November 6, about 25 hours after launch, worldfirst60.com showed its five leading tracked racers at level 42, the next at 41 and 40, and well-known streamers spread from the high 30s down to the teens. The site reads levels from public Twitch streams, calls itself an "unofficial fan project", and says its XP readings "may be estimated". Treat it as a snapshot, not a ranking.

Two things to keep in mind:

  • Racers are not normal players. World-first runners play nearly nonstop, plan routes in advance and often level in organized groups. Their pace is the ceiling, not a target.
  • Classic pace still applies. Blizzard added no XP multiplier. If you play a few hours a night, 60 is a weeks-long project. The December 9 raid date gives you about five weeks from launch.

Key takeaway: the race shows the game can be leveled fast with a perfect route and no sleep. For everyone else the real levers are quest density, one dungeon per level band, and rested XP.

Is WoW Forever leveling faster than Classic?

Not through any XP buff. Blizzard announced no global multiplier, and its launch notes only adjust "experience values on various quests". Two things make Forever feel smoother:

  • Quest density. Blizzard's launch article lists "more than 1,000 new quests across the level 1–60 journey", plus new zones including Mount Hyjal, Zephras Isle and the Riverglades. The Riverglades alone has "more than 150 new quests across much of the mid-30s to mid-40s", the stretch where vanilla ran short of quests.
  • Dungeon coverage. Vanilla had long stretches with no good instance. Forever's new dungeons start at levels 13, 15, 24, 28, 35, 40, 48, 55 and 58, so the longest gap between new ones is nine levels.

What doesn't change: you form groups yourself and walk to the instance. Blizzard has not announced an in-game level boost for Forever.

What XP rules are live at launch?

The long road to level 60 in World of Warcraft: Forever

The dungeon XP rules shipped as tuned in the beta, and the Nov 2 notes list no further dungeon XP change (Blizzard dev notes):

  • Dungeon-quest bonus XP cut in half (Oct 1 build). "Dungeon quests now reward 50% less extra experience beyond normal quest values." One dungeon's quest chain still pays well. It just doesn't beat open-world questing anymore.
  • Dungeon kill XP up about 20% (Oct 8 build). The party penalty for low-level kills went back to the Classic Era rule, which checks each player's own level. Blizzard said this "will dramatically increase experience earned in dungeons for most players."
  • The high-level friend rule stays. If a party member is at a "vastly higher level than the enemy being killed", nobody in the group gets XP. A level-60 friend can't run you through for kill XP.
  • Low zones respawn faster for now. See the Nov 6 section above. Grinding a crowded starter zone is easier now than it will be after the change, but Blizzard gave no date for it.

We compare dungeon runs, questing and the launch "hyper-spawn" grinding meta in WoW Forever dungeon XP at launch.

Which WoW Forever dungeons should you run at each level?

Blizzard's new-dungeons article gives all nine new dungeons official level ranges. Use them as stops on your route:

Classic zone leveling map with quest markers for a WoW Forever 1-60 route

DungeonLevel rangeLocationLeveling note
Hall of Thanes13-18Beneath Ironforge, Dun MoroghEasy for Alliance to reach from the capital
Ruins of Lordaeron15-20Above the Undercity, Tirisfal GladesDungeon quests need level 15 at launch
Excavation Site24-29Above Whelgar's Excavation, WetlandsBeta notes listed 26-31, so treat the band as approximate
City of Dalaran28-33Alterac MountainsFaction attunement quest first
The Drowned City35-40Off the coast of Stranglethorn ValeFills the vanilla mid-30s gap
Krol'dok Stronghold40-45Riverglades (new zone)Ogre stronghold

Blackmaw Hold55-60AzsharaFurbolg dungeon
Shaper's Terrace58-60Un'Goro CraterEndgame-adjacent

The classic dungeons are still in the game too, including Ragefire Chasm, Razorfen Kraul, Razorfen Downs and Uldaman, so your usual vanilla stops sit next to the new ones. Watch the Razorfen Kraul cauldron bug from Blizzard's Known Issues list. The best approach: arrive around the middle of a dungeon's range with its quests already picked up, clear it once, hand in, and move on. Our Hall of Thanes and Ruins of Lordaeron breakdown covers the first two in detail.

How much gold do you need while leveling?

More than most people plan for. Blizzard's launch notes say: "Total cost to train class abilities from 1-60 is now between 206 and 207 gold for all classes." Most abilities learned at the same level now cost the same to train, except Priest race-specific spells, and Warlock costs are lowered to account for pet Grimoires.

That 206-207 gold comes on top of riding. Our mount cost guide breaks down what to save for your first mount. Two practical rules:

  • Don't skip ranks of your main damage or healing spell. Skip situational ranks when money is short, and catch up after a good farming session.
  • Pick a gathering profession early. Herbs, ore and skins usually sell well early in a fresh economy. See best professions to pick.

Does the Legacy System make you level faster?

Yes, through rested XP, and mostly on alts.

Blizzard's Legacy System article says the system unlocks when you earn your first Legacy Point. For most players that happens when their first character reaches level 25. You can spend up to 16 points per character at launch, and points are shared across your account.

The leveling talent is Well Rested in the Adventure tree. Blizzard says it "increases the rested experience cap and allows rested experience to accumulate faster." Rested XP builds while you rest in an inn or city or are logged out, so a main you play all day gets little from it. Alts that sit offline between sessions get the most. Our Legacy explainer covers every tree.

What's the fastest legit way to level 1-60 in WoW Forever?

There's no shortcut, so "fastest" means wasting the least time:

  • Pick a class that solos well. Self-healing and kiting save hours over 60 levels. Blizzard says it doesn't plan big tuning changes before raids, outside bugs and serious outliers. See the best class to level tier list.
  • Use the boosted low-zone respawns while they last. Crowded starter zones are easier to quest in for now. Blizzard has said the rates will come down, with no date.
  • Quest in loops, one hub at a time. Take every quest in a hub, finish them in one pass and hand them in together.
  • Run each dungeon's quest chain once, at the right level. Use the table above. The quest bonus pays once, so move on instead of farming one instance.
  • Don't bring a much higher-level friend. If one party member is far above the enemy's level, nobody gets XP.
  • Use campfires. The Camping system turns a Basic Campfire into a shared campsite where nearby players add profession-crafted Camp Features. Sit there for a minute to pick up their buffs. The Engineering Reagent Bot sells reagents and the Leatherworking Camp Tent raises your rested XP by 5% of a level (no effect if you already have more).
  • Skip the crash quest for now. "Vorsha the Lasher" in Ashenvale is disabled until Blizzard fixes it. Don't plan your Ashenvale route around it.
  • Check for the travel portals. If a boat or zeppelin doesn't show up, look for the temporary portal near the dock or inside the zeppelin tower. Blizzard said it will remove these once its proper transport fix is verified, so they may already be gone.

If you'd rather skip part of the climb and be 60 for the December 9 raids, timesaver.gg runs Forever leveling by hand on the quest route.

Get to 60 before the December 9 raid unlock:

>

- WoW Forever Power Leveling to 60: any range from 1 to 60, played by hand on the quest route

- WoW Forever Gold: cover the 206-207 gold of class training and your first mount

- All WoW Forever services: gold, leveling, dungeons, raids and more

Why does December 9 matter for leveling?

Blizzard's raid overview puts the first raid unlock on December 9, 2026: Barrow Deeps (10-player, 8 bosses), Hyjal Summit (20-player, 13 bosses) and Onyxia's Lair (40-player). All three are planned to reset weekly. That gives you about five weeks from launch to reach 60, gear up in the endgame dungeons and, for Onyxia, finish the Drakefire Amulet attunement. Blizzard also says it expects to "do a large tuning pass" once it has "sufficient data from players leveling past 30", without giving a date, so watch the patch notes. Our raid sizes and dates explainer covers the next step.

FAQ

Is WoW Forever leveling faster than Classic? Not through any XP buff. Blizzard announced no global multiplier. Leveling feels smoother because of 1,000+ new quests, nine new dungeons that fill the mid-30s and late-40s gaps, and faster low-zone respawns during the launch surge.

Has anyone reached level 60 in WoW Forever yet? Not when we checked. At 00:08 UTC on November 6, about 25 hours after launch, the unofficial stream tracker worldfirst60.com showed the leading racers at level 42.

What level are the new WoW Forever dungeons? Hall of Thanes 13-18, Ruins of Lordaeron 15-20, Excavation Site 24-29, City of Dalaran 28-33, The Drowned City 35-40, Krol'dok Stronghold 40-45, Alcaz Prison 48-53, Blackmaw Hold 55-60 and Shaper's Terrace 58-60, according to Blizzard's dungeon article.

Did Blizzard change XP at launch? Its launch notes adjust XP on "various quests" and speed up respawns in low-level zones, but list no global XP change and no new dungeon XP change. The dungeon rules from the beta (quest bonus down 50%, kill XP up about 20%) still apply.

How much does class training cost from 1 to 60? Blizzard says 206 to 207 gold for every class. Warlock costs are lowered to account for pet Grimoires.

Will Blizzard slow down respawns? Yes. Blizzard says it will lower the low-zone respawn rates "once the initial launch surge of low-level characters has settled down". It has not given a date.

Does WoW Forever have a Dungeon Finder? No. There is a Looking For Group listing board where you post or browse groups, but no automatic matchmaking and no teleport. See our LFG tool explainer.

Does the Legacy System help leveling? Yes, through rested XP. It unlocks at your first Legacy Point, usually when your first character hits 25, and the Adventure-tree perk Well Rested raises the rested-XP cap and makes it build faster. Alts gain the most.

When do WoW Forever raids open? December 9, 2026: Barrow Deeps (10-player), Hyjal Summit (20-player) and Onyxia's Lair (40-player).
