Quick answer: Zenless Zone Zero currently has 39 Drive Disc sets, but only 30 of them exist at S-Rank — the other nine cap out at A or B and are level fodder, not endgame gear. Version 3.2 "Their Secret Histories" added no new Drive Disc set, so every disc you farmed in 3.1 is still current. The defensible picks per role in 3.2 are Woodpecker Electro or Dawn's Bloom for Attack, King of the Summit for Stun, Astral Voice or Swing Jazz for Support, Thorned Rose for Defense, and Freedom Blues or Feathered Fate for Anomaly. And the single most useful fact in this guide: every Master Copy source drops exactly two sets, so 15 sources cover all 30 S-Rank sets — which means you can always farm two targets at once.
This guide is written for Version 3.2 "Their Secret Histories," live since 2026-09-09. HoYoverse states the runtime in its own Version 3.2 update announcement: Version 3.2 runs for 42 days and ends on 2026/10/21 at 06:00 (UTC+8). Everything below is labelled by source — first-party notice or in-game item data — because most of the "best Drive Disc" pages on this search result are top-up blogs that have not been touched since Version 2.x.
What changed for Drive Discs in Zenless Zone Zero Version 3.2
Almost nothing — and that is the answer people are actually looking for.
The Version 3.2 update announcement mentions Drive Discs exactly twice, and neither mention is a new set. The two lines, verbatim:
"Adds recommended Drive Disc data for new Agents upon release."
"Optimizes the Drive Disc data in the system recommendation module for some Agents' Special Training Plans."
Both are quality-of-life changes to the in-game recommendation panel. No new Drive Disc set shipped in 3.2. That breaks a long cadence: going by the wiki's change history, new sets have arrived as matched pairs in Versions 1.2, 1.4, 1.6, 2.0, 2.2, 2.5, 2.7, 3.0 and 3.1 — nine pairs in a row on roughly every other patch. The newest pair is still Feathered Fate and Thorned Rose, both added in Version 3.1 from the Swiftspine and Splitclaw Master Copy.
What did change in 3.2 is farming throughput, and it is on a timer. The update announcement lists an event called Advanced Bounty: Area Patrol:
"During the event, Area Patrol rewards will be doubled."
Its duration is 2026/09/23 04:00 – 2026/09/28 03:59 (server time), and it requires Inter-Knot Lv. 21, the Reputation Rank-Up Mission "Path of the Proxy I," and Area Patrol unlocked. Area Patrol is the Drive Disc farming node. If you have been putting off gearing a character, this five-day window is the cheapest it gets in 3.2.
The 30 S-Rank sets — and the nine that never reach S-Rank
This is the part almost every competing guide gets loose about. There are 39 named Drive Disc sets in the game. Only 30 of them are available at S-Rank. The complete list of the nine that are not: Assassin's Ballad, Doom Grindcore, Ecstatic Punk, Mammoth Electro, Monsoon Funk, Noisy Pop, Twisted Grindcore, Unicorn Electro and Vagabond Folk. Assassin's Ballad, Doom Grindcore, Ecstatic Punk, Monsoon Funk, Twisted Grindcore and Vagabond Folk top out at A-Rank; Mammoth Electro, Noisy Pop and Unicorn Electro top out at B-Rank.
That matters for a boring mechanical reason: an S-Rank disc levels to Lv. 15, an A-Rank to Lv. 12 and a B-Rank to Lv. 9, and only S-Rank discs start with three or four sub-stats. Every one of those nine sets is disposable, no matter how good the wording of its bonus looks in a tier list.
Here is every S-Rank set with its bonus text as written in-game, grouped by what the set is for.

Best Drive Discs by agent role in Zenless Zone Zero
Read the table above and a pattern falls out. Attribute-locked 2-piece bonuses are flat and boring, and that is exactly why they are safe — Thunder Metal's 28% ATK while an enemy is Shocked has no positioning, timing or stat gate attached to it, so it performs identically on a fresh account and a whaled one. Conditional 4-piece bonuses are where the gap opens.
- Attack / DPS: Woodpecker Electro is the low-floor default because CRIT Rate is the stat a new build is always short of. Dawn's Bloom beats it if your damage genuinely comes out of Basic Attack strings rather than skills.
- Stun: King of the Summit, and it is not close. It is the only set that converts a Stun character into a squad-wide CRIT DMG buff, and the 50% CRIT Rate threshold is reachable with a single CRIT Rate main stat.
- Support: Astral Voice if your team leans on Quick Assist swaps; Swing Jazz if it leans on Chain Attacks and Ultimates. Moonlight Lullaby is the longest buff window in the game at 25 seconds, but it checks that the equipper is a Support character.
- Defense: Thorned Rose. Its 1,000 and 1,800 initial-DEF thresholds are the only place in the disc pool where DEF converts directly into CRIT Rate, which is what makes a Defense agent worth building offensively at all. See our ZZZ tier list for which agents actually clear that bar.
- Anomaly: Freedom Blues for attribute-matched teams, Feathered Fate for Lumiflux agents — and note that Feathered Fate is one of very few 4-piece effects that explicitly stays active while the equipper is off-field.
- Do not chase: any set whose 4-piece requires a specific role you are not playing. Bunny in Wonderland, Moonlight Lullaby and King of the Summit are all dead weight on the wrong class.
Drive Discs are only one half of an agent's gear. The other half is the W-Engine, and the two are chosen together — our ZZZ W-Engine tier list covers which weapon pairs with which of these sets.
Two more structural rules worth stating plainly, because they get asked constantly: there is no 6-piece set effect in Zenless Zone Zero, and set bonuses come only in 2-piece and 4-piece tiers. A 4+2 split across two sets is a legitimate build, not a compromise.
How Drive Disc main stats work
Sets are half the decision. The other half is which partition can roll which main stat, and that is fixed:
- Partition 1: flat HP only
- Partition 2: flat ATK only
- Partition 3: flat DEF only
- Partition 4: HP%, ATK%, DEF%, CRIT Rate%, CRIT DMG% or Anomaly Proficiency
- Partition 5: HP%, ATK%, DEF%, PEN Ratio% or an Attribute DMG Bonus%
- Partition 6: HP%, ATK%, DEF%, Anomaly Mastery%, Impact% or Energy Regen%
Partitions 1 through 3 are not choices, which means your entire main-stat decision is partitions 4, 5 and 6 — and it is why a set with a strong attribute-DMG identity effectively competes with itself for the partition 5 slot.
On sub-stats: an S-Rank disc rolls with three or four sub-stats and can hold a maximum of four. Every three levels it either adds a new sub-stat or upgrades an existing one, so a disc that starts at four sub-stats spends all five upgrades improving what it already has. Taking an S-Rank disc to Lv. 15 costs 48,000 disc EXP and 72,000 Dennies, which works out to 480 Molded, 96 Crystallized or 24 Ether Plating Agents depending on which tier you feed it.
Every Master Copy drops exactly two sets
This is the farming fact that reframes the whole grind: the 30 S-Rank sets map onto 15 Master Copy sources, two sets per source, with no exceptions and no overlaps.
The pairings: Fist and Gun gives Fanged Metal and Hormone Punk. Sharp Fang and Blunt Axe gives Freedom Blues and Polar Metal. Hunter and Hound gives Shockstar Disco and Thunder Metal. Monster and Weirdo gives Chaotic Metal and Swing Jazz. Madman and Follower gives Inferno Metal and Puffer Electro. Tower and Cannon gives Soul Rock and Woodpecker Electro. Hunter and Beast gives Chaos Jazz and Proto Punk. Monster Duet gives Astral Voice and Branch & Blade Song. Gunslinger vs Guardian gives Phaethon's Melody and Shadow Harmony. Words and Weapons gives King of the Summit and Yunkui Tales. Iron Law and Outlaws gives Dawn's Bloom and Moonlight Lullaby. Deceits and Bulwarks gives Shining Aria and White Water Ballad. Dragon Taming Chariot gives Bunny in Wonderland and Notes From the Chained. Pilot and the Rebel Mech gives The Sky Ablaze and Wuthering Salon. Swiftspine and Splitclaw gives Feathered Fate and Thorned Rose.
Practical consequence: pick the source, not the set. If you need King of the Summit for a Stun agent and Yunkui Tales for a Sheer-damage agent, both come out of the same Words and Weapons copies, and one farming session serves both builds.
The fastest route to a finished S-Rank set
There are two supply lines, and most players only use one of them.
Area Patrol is the direct route. Each attempt costs 60 Battery Charge, or 1 Ether Battery if you want to auto-resolve the combat. It unlocks at Inter-Knot Lv. 26 after "Trace to the Source" in Phaethon's Story Chapter 2, from Roland at the Scott Outpost. The reward table scales with challenge level, not with how well you play — the wiki records that the Rank you earn for clearing the Challenge Targets "does not affect the rewards given in any way":
| Challenge level | Inter-Knot required | Dennies | S-Rank discs | A-Rank discs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lv. 30 | — | 3,000 | 0 | 2–3 |
| Lv. 40 | 35 | 3,375 | 1–2 | 3 |
| Lv. 50 | 45 | 3,750 | 2 | 4 |
| Lv. 60 | 50 | 4,125 | 2–3 | 5 |
Turn on Auto Dismantle for A and B discs and you will stop drowning in fodder. Until 2026/09/28 at 03:59 server time, those rewards are doubled by Advanced Bounty: Area Patrol.
Bardic Needle tuning is the route people skip, and it is the one with a guarantee attached. Tuning has three levels:
- Beginner tuning costs 5 Audio Booster Master Copies and produces A and B discs, with an A-Rank base rate the wiki puts at 11% and an overall rate of 25% once the pity is counted; every fifth tuning guarantees at least one A-Rank.
- Intermediate tuning unlocks at Inter-Knot Lv. 35, costs 5 Noise Reduction Master Copies, and applies the same 11% base and 25% overall structure to S-Rank discs, with every fifth tuning guaranteeing at least one S-Rank. It also unlocks Partitioning, which lets you choose which partition you get.
- Advanced tuning unlocks at Inter-Knot Lv. 40, costs 3 Hi-Fi Master Copies, and is a 100% guaranteed S-Rank disc. It also unlocks Main Stat Orientation, at a cost of 1 Tuning Calibrator per disc.
That last line is the whole point. Advanced tuning removes rank RNG entirely, and combined with Main Stat Orientation it removes main-stat RNG too, leaving only sub-stats to gamble on. Layer Track Settings on top — it pins one chosen set to a 100% drop rate and works from Beginner tuning upward — and you can farm a single specific set, at a chosen partition, with a chosen main stat, deterministically. Discs you do not want disassemble back into Master Copies, so nothing is truly wasted.
If you are short on Battery Charge to run any of this, our ZZZ Polychrome farming guide covers the resource sources still open in 3.2, and the best teams guide shows which squads these sets are actually being built for.
Frequently asked questions
What are the best Drive Discs in ZZZ right now? For Version 3.2: Woodpecker Electro or Dawn's Bloom on Attack agents, King of the Summit on Stun, Astral Voice or Swing Jazz on Support, Thorned Rose on Defense, and Freedom Blues or Feathered Fate on Anomaly. Attribute-locked sets like Thunder Metal and Polar Metal remain the safest picks for matched-attribute teams because their conditions are almost always satisfied in normal play.
Did Version 3.2 add any new Drive Disc sets? No. The Version 3.2 update announcement mentions Drive Discs only in reference to the in-game recommendation module, not to new sets. The newest sets are still Feathered Fate and Thorned Rose from Version 3.1.
How many Drive Disc sets are there in Zenless Zone Zero? 39 named sets, of which 30 are available at S-Rank. The nine that are not are Assassin's Ballad, Doom Grindcore, Ecstatic Punk, Mammoth Electro, Monsoon Funk, Noisy Pop, Twisted Grindcore, Unicorn Electro and Vagabond Folk.
Is there a 6-piece Drive Disc set bonus? No. Drive Disc sets only have 2-piece and 4-piece bonuses, so a 4+2 split between two sets is a normal, fully supported build rather than a compromise.
What is the fastest way to farm a specific Drive Disc set? Use Track Settings to pin the set to a 100% drop rate, then run Advanced tuning at the Bardic Needle for 3 Hi-Fi Master Copies per guaranteed S-Rank disc. Run Area Patrol at the highest challenge level you can clear to keep Master Copies flowing — and do it before 2026/09/28 at 03:59 server time, while Advanced Bounty: Area Patrol is doubling those rewards.
Which Drive Disc partitions let me choose the main stat? Only partitions 4, 5 and 6. Partitions 1, 2 and 3 are locked to flat HP, flat ATK and flat DEF respectively, so they are never a decision.
How much does it cost to max an S-Rank Drive Disc? 48,000 disc EXP and 72,000 Dennies to reach Lv. 15, which is 480 Molded Plating Agents, 96 Crystallized Plating Agents or 24 Ether Plating Agents depending on the tier you use.
