PoE 2 Acolyte of ChayulaB
Monk ascendancy · verified 2026-07-04 · DEXINT
community tier · patch 0.5.4b (editorial)
The chaos-and-darkness monk who trades the Monk's Spirit for a Darkness health-buffer and leans on doubled chaos resistance and chaos-conversion damage.
You replace Spirit with Darkness, a resource that absorbs incoming damage before it hits your Life, then scale that pool through chaos resistance investment. Offensively you convert hits to chaos and use mobile skills like Into the Breach and Void Illusion to reposition and detonate packs. It is a tanky, resource-management playstyle built around chaos damage and the Archon of Chayula transformation.
Strengths
- Darkness acts as an extra damage buffer that soaks hits before your Life pool
- Doubled maximum chaos resistance makes it exceptionally strong against chaos and toxic content
- Chaos conversion plus leech from chaos damage (Sap of Nightmares) gives solid sustain
- Strong mobility and pack-detonation tools via Into the Breach and Void Illusion
Weaknesses
- Hit hard by the 0.5 Energy Shield overhaul, weakening its old defensive identity
- Giving up Spirit removes access to Spirit-reserved buffs/heralds other builds rely on
- Not recommended as a league starter; needs specific setup (e.g. stun handling) to feel smooth
Current standing (B-tier): Distinct chaos identity, but the other two Monk paths simply hit harder right now. (community tier · patch 0.5.4b — editorial rank, community meta consensus (maxroll · mobalytics · game8 0.5 tier lists), editorial — checked 2026-07-03)

FAQ
- Does Acolyte of Chayula lose the Monk's Spirit?
- Yes. Embrace the Darkness removes Spirit entirely and replaces it with Darkness, a pool that reserves incoming damage before your Life.
- Is Acolyte of Chayula good in patch 0.5?
- It is playable at endgame but was hit hard by the Energy Shield overhaul and is generally not recommended as a league starter.
- How does its chaos resistance work?
- Chayula's Gift raises your max chaos resistance and doubles your chaos resistance, and that investment also scales your Darkness buffer.
