PoE 2 Disciple of VarashtaB
Sorceress ascendancy · verified 2026-07-04 · INT
community tier · patch 0.5.4b (editorial)
A djinn-summoning Sorceress who commands three invulnerable elemental djinn to deal damage, buff herself, and debuff enemies.
You summon up to three invulnerable djinn — Ruzhan (fire), Navira (frost/mirage) and Kelari (tainted sands) — and issue command skills that trigger their abilities. You can build as a summoner leaning on djinn damage, or as a caster who uses the djinn purely for buffs (mana/energy-shield sustain) and debuffs (Exposure, Critical Weakness). It supports a hybrid defensive spellcaster identity with strong debuff pressure.
Strengths
- Highly versatile: viable as damage-summoner or buff/debuff caster
- Invulnerable djinn provide persistent value that can't be killed off
- Strong debuff application (Exposure via Ruzhan, Critical Weakness via Kelari)
- Good defensive scaling (ES-to-Armour conversion, mana/ES sustain via Navira)
Weaknesses
- Djinn command loop adds active-management overhead vs. a pure caster
- Newer, less battle-tested ascendancy — build paths and best-in-slot are still settling
- Split between summoner and caster identities can dilute focus if built unclearly
Current standing (B-tier): flexible and strong in the right hands, but less established than Stormweaver/Chronomancer and more piloting-dependent. Source: maxroll.gg, fextralife. Key Disciple of Varashta notables
What each ascendancy notable actually does for the build — effect directions, not raw numbers (exact values shift every patch; check in game before committing points).
Barya of Ruzhan (Blazing Sword)
Grants the fire djinn Ruzhan, which passively attacks and applies Exposure; command skills unleash greatsword hurls, lava-wave teleports and flame volleys.
Barya of Navira (Last Mirage)
Grants the frost djinn Navira, boosting mana/energy-shield recovery on command and creating protective bubbles and restorative oases over chilled ground.
Barya of Kelari (Tainted Sands)
Grants the sand djinn Kelari, inflicting Critical Weakness on command and enabling corpse-consuming beetle minions and channeled blades.
Instruments of Power
Lets you equip a Focus alongside a Staff (Focus bonuses reduced by 50%), expanding your gear and stat options.
Sacred Rituals
Converts a large portion of Energy Shield into Armour, adding a physical-mitigation defensive layer.
Varashta's Intuition
Routes incoming elemental damage through mana first, giving a mana-based damage buffer.

- No — the three djinn are invulnerable; you issue command skills to trigger their abilities rather than protecting them.

Timesaver.gg is not affiliated with Grinding Gear Games. Source notes: Confirmed live in 0.5.4b (maxroll overview page explicitly reads 'Return of the Ancients 0.5.4'). Djinn identity, three named djinn (Ruzhan/Navira/Kelari), and command mechanic cross-verified on maxroll.gg and fextralife. NOTE: fextralife's notable-detail page header still reads 0.4.0d hotfix, so some node fine-detail may be pre-0.5.4; qualitative effects are stable but exact per-node command mixes should be treated as slightly patch-stale on that source.
