AION 2 Endgame Guide: What to Do at Level 45 (2026)

You hit level 45, the experience bar vanished, and the very next quest boss started chunking a quarter of your health bar per basic attack. If that is where you are in AION 2 right now, you are not doing anything wrong — you have just reached the point where the game stops being about levels and starts being about Combat Power. This guide is the roadmap for what to do next.

Quick answer: Level 45 is the current global launch cap (Season 1). At 45 your goal switches from gaining XP to raising your character's power — through Transcendence dungeons (your main source of Arcana cards), gear enhancement and Soul Binding, manastones and stigmas, and the Abyss for PvP. The first post-45 dungeons gate behind an item-level check, which is exactly why a fresh 45 at a low Gear Score gets wrecked. Build power in that order and the walls fall over.

Everything below is written for the live global build as of October 12, 2026, one week after the October 5 launch. Where a system's exact numbers have not been published by NC, we say so and label player-reported figures as player-reported — because AION 2's endgame is new enough that a lot of "facts" floating around are guesses.

Is level 45 the max level in AION 2?

Yes — the global launch cap is level 45. AION 2 launched its Season 1 at a level 45 ceiling, and reporting on NC's pre-launch dungeon livestream noted that Season 1 ships without "heroic"-rarity gear, consistent with a 45 cap rather than the higher cap seen later in other regions. The Korean service, which launched in November 2025 and runs roughly a content cycle ahead, raised its cap to 50 with a mid-2026 chapter update — but the global build you are playing is capped at 45, and the higher-level Korean content is not in the Western launch build yet.

That matters because it tells you what "endgame" means right now: not a race to a higher number, but a grind to make your level-45 character strong enough for the content that unlocks at 45. The moment the XP bar disappears, the real game begins.

Why your level 45 character feels weak: Combat Power vs Gear Score

Here is the single most useful thing to understand at 45. AION 2 tracks your strength with two different numbers that are easy to confuse:

  • Gear Score / Item Level — the raw strength of the gear you have equipped. This is the number that gates most group content.
  • Combat Power (CP) — the master "how strong am I overall" number, which rolls in a lot more than gear: your Daevanion talent progress, Pantheon unlocks, your Arcana card collection, the levels on your skill and stigma socket-stones, and title and wing bonuses.

The German outlet Mein-MMO, in its level-45 endgame breakdown, is blunt about the consequence: at endgame your job is to push Combat Power through those systems, and "the areas of PvE and PvP are strictly separated regarding equipment and content offerings" — meaning the gear you grind for dungeons is not the gear you grind for the Abyss. You build two kits, not one.

So when a fresh 45 posts "the basic quest bosses are destroying me, my gear score is only around 820" — a real complaint on the AION 2 subreddit this week — the answer is almost always the same: you are sitting below the entry gate for the content you are trying to do. You do not need to play better (yet). You need more power. The rest of this guide is how you get it.

The AION 2 endgame progression loop at 45

Think of endgame as a loop you repeat: run content → collect upgrade materials and Arcana cards → raise Gear Score and Combat Power → unlock the next content tier → repeat. The pillars of that loop are:

1. Transcendence dungeons (your bread and butter)

Transcendence dungeons are time-limited, five-player endgame dungeons, and they are the primary source of Arcana cards — collectible cards that raise your skill levels and hand out stat bonuses, feeding directly into Combat Power. When players in your region spam "anyone wanna practice transcendence 1/2 (EU)" in chat, the "1/2" refers to the difficulty tiers of these dungeons — you work your way up as your power grows.

They are built around a clock. Inven Global's guide to one Transcendence dungeon, the Mirror of Red Affection, warns that "unlike other Transcendence dungeons, the Mirror of Red Affection has a tighter time limit than you might expect," and that a higher difficulty can ask you to defeat 180 mobs inside that window. The lesson: Transcendence rewards clear speed and group coordination, not just raw survival. Learn the pulls, bring the right role mix, and do not over-pull on the clock.

2. Gear enhancement and Soul Binding

Your equipped gear is the Gear Score lever. You raise it by enhancing (upgrading the +level of a piece) and by tuning its stats through a Soul Binding system that lets you reinforce or re-roll the effects on a piece rather than praying for a perfect drop.

One important honesty note: in the Korean build, gear enhancement has been reported to be non-destructive up to a point — early upgrade levels guaranteed, failures costing materials but not the item, with a pity-style bonus stacking on repeated attempts. NC has not published global enhancement success rates in English, and the exact Soul Binding behavior on the live global build is not something any official source has spelled out. Treat enhancement odds as unconfirmed, upgrade the gear you intend to keep, and do not burn rare materials chasing numbers a seller blog quoted you.

3. Manastones, stigmas and the socket layer

On top of the gear itself sits a socket layer that is pure Combat Power:

  • Manastones socket into weapons and armor for flat stat boosts; Soulstones are the accessory equivalent, and Theostones add proc-style effects on higher-rarity gear.
  • Stigmas are equippable skill enhancements — a second loadout of extra abilities layered over your normal bar.

Be careful with manastones specifically: in the Korean build a failed socket attempt and even removing a slotted manastone have been reported to destroy the stone. Until NC confirms the global rules, socket deliberately and keep spares.

4. The Abyss (PvP endgame)

The Abyss is AION 2's faction-war endgame, Elyos versus Asmodian, and it runs on a separate gear track from your PvE dungeon kit. Access is gated — community reporting during launch week points to a weekly time allowance rather than unlimited entry — and you earn PvP currency and medals there to buy PvP gear. If your interest is ranked faction warfare rather than raid progression, the Abyss is where your Combat Power grind points, and it is worth treating as its own project. Our AION 2 PvP guide breaks the Abyss, arenas and rifts down in detail.

The item-level ladder: what unlocks when (player-reported)

This is the part fresh 45s most want and the part where you have to be most careful about sources. NC has not published an official item-level requirement chart for the global build. What follows is the ladder the player and guide community has pieced together in launch week — useful as a rough map, not as gospel. Expect the exact numbers to shift as the game is patched and as more people verify them.

  • Around item level ~1,000 — the first proper endgame five-player dungeons (names like Krao Cave and Draupnir are being cited) open up. This is the first real gate past the story.
  • Level 45 + higher item level — the Conquest / endgame version of mid-game zones (the Urugugu Canyon expedition is a commonly cited example) asks for meaningfully more gear than the leveling version did.
  • Higher Transcendence tiers and the big 10-player raids sit well above that, with the top raid content reported in the multiple-thousands of Gear Score.

If you are at a Gear Score in the hundreds and bouncing off quest bosses, you are simply below the ~1,000 door. That is normal for a one-week-old character. The fix is the loop above, in order: dailies and story to ~1,000, then the first dungeons, then Transcendence tiers as your power climbs.

Do not trust a specific "you need exactly X Gear Score" number from a currency- or carry-selling site. Those sites dominate AION 2 searches and routinely publish invented thresholds (and worse). Verify against what actually gates your queue, and watch the official AION 2 notice board for the real numbers as NC publishes them.

A practical day-one-at-45 checklist

If you just dinged 45 and want a concrete plan:

  • Finish the level-45 story and campaign. It is the fastest route to your first full gear set and pushes you toward that ~1,000 item-level door.
  • Clear your daily and weekly dungeon lockouts every day. Launch week is when Arcana cards and upgrade materials are scarcest; do not skip free rolls at the systems that give them.
  • Enhance the gear you plan to keep, not every drop. Pick your mainhand and core armor and pour materials there.
  • Build your Arcana card collection through Transcendence runs — this is slow but it is permanent Combat Power that follows you across gear resets.
  • Pick a lane: PvE or Abyss PvP. Because the gear tracks are separate, splitting your effort early makes both feel slow. Choose where you want to spend launch month.
  • Set up your rotation. A clean skill layout — and, if you use one, the native in-game skill macro system — makes the DPS checks in timed Transcendence dungeons far more forgiving.

For the money side of all this — enhancement materials, consumables and repairs add up fast at endgame — our AION 2 Kina farming guide covers the fastest legitimate routes, and the combat power guide goes deeper on why your Gear Score number can lie to you.

How big is AION 2's launch, really?

Some context for why the endgame SERPs and your server queues are both so crowded: AION 2's launch is one of 2026's largest MMO debuts. According to reporting from Inven Global, the game peaked at 397,905 concurrent players on Steam on October 5, with NC stating the figure surpassed 400,000 once its own PURPLE platform was included — up from an early-access Steam peak of 171,530 on September 30. As of October 7 it sat at #3 in current players and #5 in daily players on Steam's Most Played chart and took the #1 spot on Valve's weekly global top sellers. Steam's own store page, which flipped to "AION 2 is now LIVE!" on launch, markets the game around "over 200 dungeons" across solo, five-player and ten-player tiers — which is the content pipeline your endgame loop draws on.

That is a lot of Daevas all hitting the level-45 wall in the same week. The ones who climb fastest are the ones with a plan.

FAQ

What is the max level in AION 2? Level 45 is the current global launch cap for Season 1. The Korean version, which launched earlier, has since raised its cap higher, but that higher-level content is not in the global build yet. At 45, progression switches from XP to raising Gear Score and Combat Power.

What is Transcendence in AION 2? Transcendence refers to time-limited five-player endgame dungeons, not a level-up or ascension system. They are the main source of Arcana cards, which raise your skill levels and Combat Power. The "1/2" players mention in chat refers to the difficulty tiers of these dungeons, which you climb as you get stronger.

Why am I getting destroyed by bosses right after hitting 45? Almost always because your Gear Score is below the entry gate for the content you are attempting — the first endgame dungeons are reported to open around item level 1,000, so a fresh 45 sitting in the hundreds is under-geared, not under-skilled. Finish the level-45 campaign, clear daily and weekly dungeons, and enhance your core gear to push past the gate.

What is the difference between Gear Score and Combat Power? Gear Score (item level) measures only your equipped gear and gates most group content. Combat Power is a broader number that also includes your talent progress, Arcana card collection, socket-stone levels and title and wing bonuses. You raise them through different systems, so chasing only Gear Score leaves power on the table.

Is PvE gear the same as Abyss PvP gear in AION 2? No. AION 2 keeps PvE and PvP equipment on strictly separate tracks, so the gear you grind in dungeons is not the gear you use in the Abyss. Most players pick one lane to focus on first rather than trying to gear both at once in launch month.

Has NC published official enhancement rates or item-level requirements? Not for the global build, as of mid-October 2026. The enhancement odds, pity mechanics and exact item-level gates circulating online are mostly Korean-build data or community estimates. Treat them as rough guidance, upgrade gear you intend to keep, and watch the official AION 2 notice board for confirmed numbers.

Keep leveling the smart way

Hitting 45 is the start of AION 2, not the finish. Build Combat Power in order — story and dailies to the first dungeon gate, then Transcendence for Arcana cards, then enhancement and sockets to push into the harder tiers — and the bosses that are wrecking you this week become farm status within a couple of weeks.
