Applies to: Battlefield 6 and REDSEC on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S, on Game Update 2.1.1.0, published by EA on October 12, 2026 and live from October 13, 2026. All figures below were re-verified against EA's own pages on October 13, 2026.
Short on time? Season 5: Siege of Vegas is live, and the Season 5 Battle Pass is six instant unlocks, four themed paths and more than 100 tiers. That is the whole of EA's published description — two sentences in the update notes. There is no official Season 5 Battle Pass page yet, and the Battle Pass link on EA's own Season 5 hub still opens a page about Season 4. The genuinely new thing for returning players is in the patch notes, not the marketing: Update 2.1.1.0 added Season 4 catch-up challenges for the BROD 3, the Interdictor and the VSSM — three of the five weapons EA itself calls Season 4 Battle Pass weapons. The other two did not get one.
Season 5 arrived on a version number almost nobody predicted. Battlefield 6 went from Game Update 1.4.3.5 straight to Game Update 2.1.1.0, the first time the major version has moved since launch. If you searched for a Battlefield 6 update 1.5.0.0 this week and found nothing, that is why — EA never shipped a 1.5 build.
This guide covers what EA has documented about the Season 5 Battle Pass, how tiers are earned, what Battlefield Pro adds, and the Season 4 hardware you can still unlock. Where EA has published nothing, it says so rather than filling the gap.
What has EA actually published about the Season 5 Battle Pass?
Less than you would expect on launch day. The complete official description is two sentences inside the Game Update 2.1.1.0 notes:
"Go on a tear with the Season 5 Battle Pass, featuring six instant unlocks, four themed paths, more than 100 tiers of rewards, and a new arsenal of hardware to earn throughout the season."
That is it. Three independent checks confirm there is nothing else:
- The URL where a Season 5 Battle Pass page would live, following EA's own naming pattern, returns HTTP 404.
- The Battle Pass link on EA's Season 5 hub and on the 2.1.1.0 notes both point at EA's existing Battle Pass page, which still opens with the sentence "Season 4's Battle Pass includes free items including three new weapons, a full offering of 100+ Tiers, and an incredible value package through Battlefield Pro." On October 13, that page was still marketing the previous season.
- EA's Season 5 Roadmap, published October 9, has no Battle Pass section. It covers the maps, Rapid Royale, the two later phases and the trial; the only places the words Battle Pass appear on that page are the site navigation and a store promo for the separate BF Pro Token, not the roadmap's own content.
So there is no published Season 5 tier list, no reward table, and no list of the six instant unlocks. Any article promising you every Season 5 Battle Pass reward today is working from datamines or in-game screenshots, not from EA. EA's progression page does promise more: it says to "expect another breakdown of the Battle Pass system, as well as Battlefield Pro, before the end of the season."
What is in the pass, and what does Battlefield Pro add?
The structure is published even though the contents are not, and lining it up against Season 4 exposes the one measurable change.
| Published structure | Season 4 | Season 5 |
|---|---|---|
| Instant unlocks (paid pass) | 5 | 6 |
| Themed paths | 4 | 4 |
| Total tiers | 100+ | More than 100 |
| Battlefield Pro instant unlocks | 6 | 6 |
| Battlefield Pro tier skips | 25 | 25 |
EA's Season 4 page says "Instantly unlock 5 rewards and dive into 4 brand-new themed paths". The Season 5 notes say six instant unlocks across the same four paths. The paid pass gained one instant unlock; the path count did not change. For how that ladder played out last season, including the five named Season 4 instant unlocks, see our Season 4 Battle Pass breakdown.
Season 4 also documented the shape of the ladder, and EA has not published anything to replace it: "Complete the five Tier Recruit Path, then switch between four paths to earn your most-wanted items. Complete them all to reach the Ultimate and Prestige Paths with even more rewards, especially for Battle Pass owners." Treat that as the Season 4 structure rather than a confirmed Season 5 one — it is the best available guide, not a guarantee.
For Battlefield Pro, the 2.1.1.0 notes are specific: "six exclusive instant unlocks, full Battle Pass access, 25 Tier Skips, an exclusive BF Pro limited-time Bonus Path of rewards during the Season, new music for the vehicle radio, a 15% XP boost, exclusive Instant Unlocks, persistent Portal Server Hosting, and 100-player servers in Portal."
Two of those Season 5 numbers match EA's Season 4 Battle Pass comparison graphic exactly, which listed Bonus XP at +15% for Battlefield Pro and persistent Portal hosting at 100 max for Pro against 64 max for the base pass. That same graphic put the base Battle Pass Bonus XP at +10%, covering Hardware, Career and Battle Pass XP. EA has not restated the base-pass figure in any Season 5 material, so treat +10% as a Season 4 number that probably carried over.
The Bonus XP row matters more than it looks. As our Battlefield 6 XP boost guide found, that passive perk is the only multiplier EA has ever published that touches Hardware XP, the per-weapon progression that unlocks attachments. Every consumable XP Boost EA documents multiplies Career and Battle Pass XP only.
How do you actually earn Battle Pass tiers?
This part is fully documented, and it is the most useful fact in the system. From EA's progression page, verbatim and in its own capitals:
"BATTLE PASS XP - EARNED IN TANDEM WITH CAREER XP AT A 1:1 RATIO. Progresses your Battle Pass for that season by unlocking Battle Pass Points (Points can also be earned straight up via Challenges)."
A 1:1 ratio means there is no separate Battle Pass grind. Every point of Career XP is simultaneously a point of Battle Pass XP, so anything that raises your Career XP rate raises your tier rate by the same amount. EA lists the actions that pay both:
- Kills and assists — and an assist "can include being the driver - or passenger - of a vehicle that earns a kill"
- Revives, squad spawns and spotting an enemy
- Class-based actions and objective completion
- The Match Completion Bonus, a flat award scaled by time in match and result
Two details change how fast the ladder moves. First, Challenges pay Battle Pass Points directly, on top of the XP route — which is why you do not strictly have to clear challenges to finish a pass. One r/Battlefield player on launch day put it plainly: "I realized I had finished the battle pass without even looking at the challenges." They also reported playing two to four hours almost every day, which is the real variable.
Second, EA has seeded the early Career ranks with boosts. There are exactly nine 15-minute XP Boosts, which EA describes as doubling the earn rate: Career XP Boosts at Ranks 3, 8, 13, 18 and 22, and Battle Pass XP Boosts at Ranks 7, 12, 17 and 21. Verbatim: "We added multiple 15 Minute XP Boosts - which double XP earn rate - for Career and Battle Pass XP within Ranks 3-22." They are tied to Career Ranks, not Battle Pass tiers, so a high-tier account low on Career Rank has not collected them.
Because tiers are Career XP, the fastest route up the pass is the fastest route up your Career Rank — the same lever described in our Battlefield 6 max level and Career Rank guide.
Which Season 4 weapons can you still unlock?
This is the find EA buried in a changelog instead of the marketing, and it is the most actionable thing in the update for returning players.
EA's progression page defines the mechanic: "SEASONAL CATCH-UP CHALLENGES - If you missed a Battle Pass or Bonus Path, the Seasonal Catch-Up Challenges allow you to unlock that Hardware via challenge." It is one of four documented routes to seasonal hardware, alongside Battle Pass free tiers, Bonus Path free tiers and Seasonal Assignments. Of the Battle Pass route, EA says it "is the fastest way to unlock new Hardware at the start of a season" — which is why missing a season used to sting.
Update 2.1.1.0's PROGRESSION section contains exactly three lines, and all three are catch-up challenges:
- "Added a Season 4 catch-up challenge for the BROD 3."
- "Added a Season 4 catch-up challenge for the Interdictor."
- "Added a Season 4 catch-up challenge for the VSSM."
Now the part no aggregator is reporting. Elsewhere in the same update, EA names five Season 4 Battle Pass weapons: "EF88 Assault Rifle, BROD 3 Carbine, VSSM DMR, Interdictor Sniper Rifle, and Hadal NV-08 Knife." Three of those five got a catch-up challenge. The EF88 and the Hadal NV-08 Knife did not, and EA has published no comment on either.
Three cautions before you go looking:
The five-weapon line is not an unlock announcement. It sits under the PORTAL heading, not PROGRESSION — those weapons became available to Portal creators building custom experiences, which is not the same as unlocking for your Multiplayer loadout.
EA's own pages disagree about the Interdictor. The 2.1.1.0 notes group it with the Season 4 Battle Pass weapons, but EA's live weapon roster labels it "(Available During Season 4 Event)". Both pages served that text on October 13. The roster is the page to trust for what a weapon is, so expect its catch-up challenge to read as an event catch-up.
Being handed a gun is not unlocking it. 2.1.1.0 also states that "Battle Royale players at Field Training Level 1 or higher now redeploy with the EF88, PP-19, M121 A2, or Mini Scout, for Assault, Engineer, Support, and Recon respectively." That puts the EF88 in your hands inside REDSEC without adding it to your Multiplayer loadout.
Catch-up challenges are weapon challenges: cleared with that weapon, feeding Hardware XP rather than Career XP. Our Battlefield 6 assignments guide maps which guns sit behind which gate.
Do the four new Season 5 weapons come from the Battle Pass?
EA has not said. The Season 5 Battle Pass description promises "a new arsenal of hardware to earn throughout the season", and Season 5 ships four new weapons — the Mk 24 Assault Rifle, the RSPR Personal Defence Weapon, the Z84M Light Machine Gun and the ELR-40 Bolt-Action Sniper Rifle. EA has never connected the two statements.
The check that settles it: EA's weapon roster page, which carries an unlock label in brackets after every weapon in the game, has not been updated for Season 5 at all. Searching it for all four new weapon names returns zero matches, and its Season 4 entries still read "(Season 4 Battle Pass)" with no catch-up label added.
So the unlock routes for the Mk 24, RSPR, Z84M and ELR-40 remain unpublished, exactly as they were when we covered the four new Season 5 weapons before launch. Watch the roster page rather than the marketing; it is where the bracketed route appears first.
What are the Season 5 Battle Pass deadlines?
Season 5 runs in three dated phases, and EA published all three on the roadmap:
| Phase | Date | Headline content |
|---|---|---|
| Siege of Vegas | October 13, 2026 | Vegas Strip, Area 51, Rapid Royale, Ranked Battle Royale, four new weapons, the Season 5 Battle Pass |
| Casino Heist Update | November 10, 2026 | A new map and a limited-time Casino Heist event |
| Frozen Aces Update | December 8, 2026 | Operation High Roller, Platoons, Server Browser, Blackwell Fields and New Sobek City |
Two more dates bound the season. The Battlefield 6 x Dead Space: Convergence Event runs October 20 through November 7, with rewards including the "Aegis VII" Soldier skin and the "RIG-Certified" SMG Weapon Package. And the Full Game Trial runs October 15 to 19 on PlayStation and Steam, the cheapest way to test whether the pass is worth buying.
What EA has not published is a Season 5 end date, nor any carry-over rule for unclaimed tiers. It has never stated whether unearned tiers persist, convert or lapse, so treat claims in either direction as guesswork and work on the basis that the pass closes with the season. Distrust any specific Season 5 end date too — with Frozen Aces starting December 8, the floor is roughly eight weeks from launch and the ceiling is unstated.
Update 2.1.1.0 itself landed in two stages, in EA's wording: "From 8.00 UTC, the update will be available to download across all platforms", and "At 12.00 UTC, Season 5 content becomes available."
Starting Season 5 behind, or coming back after skipping Season 4? Battle Pass tiers are Career XP at a 1:1 ratio, so the pass and your rank move together — and the Season 4 catch-up challenges are weapon challenges that run on Hardware XP.
- Battlefield 6 Account Leveling — Career XP and Battle Pass XP climb together at 1:1, so this is the lever that moves tiers.
- Battlefield 6 Weapon Leveling — for catch-up challenges, weapon assignments and the Attachment Points behind them.
- Battlefield 6 Career Rank Boost — for the nine rank-gated XP Boosts and the Rank-gated weapons.

FAQ
Do I have to complete the challenges to finish the Battle Pass? No. Tiers advance on Battle Pass XP, which EA says is "earned in tandem with Career XP at a 1:1 ratio", and Challenges are a second, parallel source of Battle Pass Points. Clearing challenges is faster, not mandatory — players reported completing Season 4's pass without working the challenge list, on roughly two to four hours of play a day.
Why is my Battle Pass not progressing? Check the mode first. EA grants full XP in all Multiplayer experiences and in Verified Community Experiences in Portal, but custom Portal modes do not pay XP for individual actions — there, an inflated Match Completion Bonus replaces per-action XP. If you are farming a custom lobby, your Battle Pass is moving on match completions alone.
Which Season 4 weapons can I still get in Season 5? Update 2.1.1.0 added Season 4 catch-up challenges for the BROD 3, the Interdictor and the VSSM. It did not add one for the EF88 Assault Rifle or the Hadal NV-08 Knife, the other two weapons EA groups with the Season 4 Battle Pass, and EA has published nothing about whether those two will get a route later.
Does completing the Battle Pass refund enough currency to buy the next one? EA has published no figure for this. There is no mention of in-game currency returns in the 2.1.1.0 notes, the progression page or the Battle Pass page. Players have reported specific amounts on launch day, but those are community reports and EA has not confirmed any of them.
Is Battlefield Pro a one-off purchase or per season? EA describes Pro as season-scoped content. The 2.1.1.0 notes call its extra path "an exclusive BF Pro limited-time Bonus Path of rewards during the Season," and the Season 4 material was branded to that season throughout. EA has published no statement that a single Pro purchase carries across seasons.
When does the Season 5 Battle Pass end? EA has not published an end date. The last dated Season 5 milestone is the Frozen Aces Update on December 8, 2026, which is a phase start rather than a season end, so the season runs at least into December. EA has historically named a season's end only shortly before the next one begins.

The Season 4 Bonus XP and Portal hosting figures (+10% and +15%, 64 and 100 max) are read from EA's Season 4 Battle Pass comparison graphic and are labelled as Season 4 figures throughout.
