DBD Shrine of Secrets This Week: Current Perks, Reset Time and Shard Costs

There is a small, boring reason most Shrine of Secrets guides get people burned: they still say the Shrine resets on Wednesday. It has not reset on a Wednesday since Patch 6.7.0. If you plan your Iridescent Shard spend around a Wednesday deadline, you are nine hours and one calendar day late, and the perk you wanted is already gone.

Here is the live rotation, the correct reset time, the full price table, and one genuinely time-sensitive reason to buy a specific perk this week rather than next.

Quick answer

The current Shrine of Secrets is Week 34 of 2026: Aftercare, Better Than New, Friends 'Til the End and Wandering Eye. It went live on Tuesday 15 September 2026 at 15:00 UTC and expires on Tuesday 22 September 2026 at 15:00 UTC. Each perk costs 2,000 Iridescent Shards at Tier I, 4,000 at Tier II and 6,000 at Tier III, with discounts if you have already prestiged the owning character. Buying a perk you already have at Tier III converts the purchase into 100,000 Bloodpoints instead.

What is in the Shrine of Secrets this week?

The Week 34 Shrine runs the standard split: two Survivor perks, two Killer perks. That two-and-two structure is not a coincidence of this rotation, it is how every Shrine is built.

Aftercare belongs to Jeffrey "Jeff" Johansen. You see the Auras of the 1/2/3 most recent Survivors — one per tier — who either unhooked you or finished healing you, and vice versa; they see your Aura too. The link resets when you are hooked by the Killer. It is the one perk here that is strictly a solo-queue tool, and the community knows it. As one player put it on the r/deadbydaylight thread about this class of Aura perk, "It sucks because the aura effect is only useful in solo queue where your teammates can't simply tell you where they are." Worth noting: since Patch 5.3.0 Aftercare no longer reveals the Aura of a Survivor being carried by the Killer.

Better Than New belongs to Rebecca Chambers. Whenever you finish healing another Survivor, that Survivor blesses and cleanses Totems, heals, and unlocks Chests faster until they take damage again. The live value is 12/14/16% by tier, set in Patch 6.2.0. Read the next section before you skip this one, because that number is about to change and most sites are already quoting the wrong figure.

Friends 'Til the End belongs to The Good Guy. Hook a Survivor who is not the Obsession and the Obsession gains Exposed for 20 seconds while you see their Aura for 6/8/10 seconds. Hook the Obsession instead and a random other Survivor screams, gives away their position, and becomes the new Obsession. There is one quiet exception in the game's own trivia: if the randomly chosen Survivor is inside a Locker, the Obsession does not transfer.

Wandering Eye belongs to The Krasue. Start a chase and for the next 5 seconds you see the Auras of every other injured Survivor within 20 metres, on a 40/35/30 second cooldown. The 20-metre figure is the shipped value, not the PTB one, which was 16 metres before Patch 9.2.0 buffed it.

Which Shrine perk is the actual buy this week?

Better Than New, and the window matters.

Behaviour Interactive's Patch 10.2.0 Public Test Build notes raise Better Than New from 12/14/16% to 40/45/50% across all three of its effects. That is not a tuning nudge, it roughly triples the perk. BHVR explained the batch of changes it belongs to in a developer note attached to the PTB patch notes:

"We want to modernize the lower tier values of a few older perks to make them feel closer to what new players can expect long term."

So this week the Shrine is selling, for 2,000 Iridescent Shards, a perk that is scheduled to become several times stronger. That is the best Shard-per-value trade on the board.

Two warnings before you treat that as gospel. First, PTB values are not final; BHVR has adjusted numbers between PTB and live many times, including Wandering Eye's own range. Second — and this one actually catches people — the Dead by Daylight community wiki currently renders Better Than New's page with the 40/45/50% figures behind a banner reading "This description is based on the changes announced for or featured in the upcoming Patch 10.2.0". If you look the perk up mid-week and see 50%, that is the unreleased number, not what your build does tonight.

Better Than New is not the only healing perk moving in 10.2.0, which is why the sub is loud about it right now. Empathic Connection goes from 25/30/35% to 40/45/50%, We'll Make It from 30/60/90 seconds to 70/80/90, Resilience from 3/6/9% to 7/8/9%, and No One Left Behind from 50/75/100% to 80/90/100%. The knock-on effect players keep pointing at is Botany Knowledge, which sits at 30/40/50% healing speed and suddenly has company. One commenter summed the mood up bluntly: "I've seen ten posts talking about how it makes Botany Knowledge obsolete in the last day."

When does the Shrine of Secrets reset?

Every Tuesday at 15:00 UTC. Patch 6.7.0 moved it there from Wednesday at 00:00 UTC, pulling the reset nine hours earlier and onto the previous day. Plenty of guides never updated.

In local time, 15:00 UTC on Tuesday is:

  • 08:00 Tuesday, Pacific Time
  • 11:00 Tuesday, Eastern Time
  • 16:00 Tuesday, UK time
  • 17:00 Tuesday, Central European Time
  • 00:00 Wednesday, Japan Standard Time

The Shrine is identical on every platform and in every region, so there is no "my region gets different perks" — if you and a friend see different Shrines, one of you has a stale client and needs to restart.

There is one exception to the weekly cadence. During Anniversary events, BHVR has switched the Shrine to a daily rotation, so mid-June is the one time of year where "it resets Tuesday" is wrong.

How much does each Shrine perk cost in Iridescent Shards?

The Shrine prices by perk tier, not by perk. The base ladder is:

  • Tier I: 2,000 Iridescent Shards
  • Tier II: 4,000 Iridescent Shards
  • Tier III: 6,000 Iridescent Shards

Prestige changes that. If you have already unlocked Tier I of a perk through prestiging its owner, Tier II drops to 2,000 and Tier III to 4,000. If you already have Tier II, Tier III costs 2,000. This is what the in-game footnote means when it says price varies based on the relevant character's prestige level.

And if you already own the perk at Tier III, buying it again is not wasted — the game converts that purchase into 100,000 Bloodpoints. With four perks in a Shrine, a fully-prestiged player can in principle pull 400,000 Bloodpoints out of a single week's rotation.

Be honest about the maths there, though, because it is worse than it looks. The wiki's own guidance is that this trade is "not advised, as the Bloodpoints earned in the playtime it takes to regain the spent 2,000 Iridescent Shards will be far higher." Shards accrue slowly from time played; Bloodpoints pour in from every Trial. Treat the 100,000-Bloodpoint conversion as a dump for Shards you have no perks left to spend on, not as a farming strategy.

One thing not to confuse: the "Cost 2,500 / 3,250 / 4,000" numbers you see on individual perk pages are Bloodweb costs in Bloodpoints, not Shard prices. Iridescent Shards and Bloodpoints are separate currencies and the Shrine only takes Shards. If you want more of them, our DBD codes page tracks which active codes pay out Shards versus Bloodpoints, honestly dated.

Can the same perk appear in the Shrine two weeks in a row?

Not normally. A perk that has just been featured cannot reappear for at least the next three Shrines, which is why you get roughly a three-week cool-down before a repeat is even possible. The rule has failed exactly once on record: Enduring appeared in both Week 44 and Week 45 of 2020 because of a bug.

Selection is otherwise random, with two documented overrides. Perks tied to an active Tome Master Challenge are pushed into the Shrine automatically so players can complete the challenge. And the developers can hand-build a Shrine when they want to — the clearest example being the Sixth Anniversary Shrine in Week 22 of 2022, which was voted on by the community and shipped Barbecue & Chilli, Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance, We're Gonna Live Forever and Borrowed Time in one rotation.

The community-voted Sixth Anniversary Shrine of Secrets from Week 22 of 2022 in Dead by Daylight

For the record, Week 33 of 2026 — the rotation immediately before this one — was Hex: Huntress Lullaby, Parental Guidance, Potential Energy and Starstruck. With Weeks 34, 35 and 36 excluded, none of those four can return before Week 37 at the earliest.

Which perks have never appeared in the Shrine?

This is the part nobody publishes, and it has been sitting in plain sight in the wiki's lifetime Shrine appearance counter the whole time.

The counter tracks 294 perks. Of those, 24 have appeared in the Shrine zero times, ever, despite the Shrine rotating weekly since Patch 1.2.0 introduced it in October 2016:

A Place For Us, Bada Bada Boom, Boon: Steadfast, Celestial Witness, Change of Plan, Cross-Examination, Extrasensory Perception, Five Moves Ahead, Flow State, Fruits of Your Labor, Hex: Hive Mind, Hex: Scared to Death, Hex: Under Your Thumb, Lay Waste, Lend a Hand, Rampage, Salvation's Cry, Secret Project, Silent Shadow, Teamwork: Full Circuit, Teamwork: Soft-Spoken, Turn Back the Clock, We See You and Wide Open Throttle.

Almost all of those are recent-chapter perks, and that is the practical takeaway: a newly released perk takes a long time to enter the pool. If you are waiting on something from a chapter that shipped in the last year or two, do not plan around the Shrine — prestige the character instead.

The opposite end of the table is just as lopsided. Enduring has been featured 28 times, more than any other perk, with Botany Knowledge and Urban Evasion tied on 27 and Agitation and Calm Spirit on 25.

Where do this week's four sit? Aftercare is on its 11th appearance, Friends 'Til the End on its 6th, Better Than New on its 4th — and Wandering Eye is making its Shrine debut, its first appearance ever. If you play The Krasue's perk and have been waiting for it, this is the first chance the Shrine has ever given you.

Where is the Shrine of Secrets in the menus?

Since Patch 7.7.0 the Shrine no longer lives in the In-Game Store. BHVR's stated reason was to place it "closer to the Load-out and the Bloodweb", so it now sits in the Character Lobbies: open the Play as Killer or Play as Survivor menu and hit the Shrine button in the left-hand panel. This is the single most common reason a returning player swears the Shrine was removed from the game.

If you are chasing Iridescent Shards rather than perks, remember Shards accrue from time played, not from the Bloodweb, so a week of casual play is worth more Shard-wise than a single grinding session.

How the Shrine has changed over the years

  • Patch 1.2.0 (October 2016) — Shrine of Secrets introduced.
  • Patch 2.0.0 — first major rework of the system.
  • Patch 6.1.0 — Teachables removed from the Shrine; pricing moved to per-Tier.
  • Patch 6.7.0 — reset moved from Wednesday 00:00 UTC to Tuesday 15:00 UTC.
  • Patch 7.7.0 — Shrine relocated from the In-Game Store to the Character Lobbies.

One piece of Shrine trivia worth keeping: the Week 14/15 renewal in 2020 landed on April Fool's Day, so the developers pushed a special Shrine that lasted just 24 hours and contained nothing but Calm Spirit — at the time, the perk that had appeared on the Shrine more often than any other.

Is this week's Shrine worth your Shards?

A short verdict per perk, judged as a Shard purchase and not as a general perk ranking:

  • Better Than New — buy. 2,000 Shards for a perk with a tripling scheduled in 10.2.0 is the clearest value on the board this week, with the caveat that PTB numbers can move.
  • Wandering Eye — buy if you play Killer. Free chase-adjacent Aura information on a short cooldown, and this is its first Shrine appearance ever. Under the three-Shrine exclusion rule it cannot return before Week 38, and on the historical cadence for a brand-new perk the realistic wait is months.
  • Friends 'Til the End — situational. Strong in Obsession-manipulation builds, close to dead weight outside them.
  • Aftercare — skip unless you play solo queue. In a coordinated group the information it provides is information you already have over voice comms.

If you are still unsure where these sit against the wider meta, our best Survivor perks tier list and best Killer perks tier list rank every perk in the game against the live build.

Sourcing note

The Week 34 rotation above was verified against two independent sources before publication: the community wiki's Shrine pages, and the dbd.tricky.lol game-data API, which returned the same four perks, the same 2,000-Shard price, the same 100,000-Bloodpoint conversion, and a rotation window of 15 September 2026 15:00 UTC to 22 September 2026 15:00 UTC. Perk values quoted are live-build values, not 10.2.0 PTB values, except where explicitly labelled as PTB.

FAQ

When does the DBD Shrine of Secrets reset? Every Tuesday at 15:00 UTC. Patch 6.7.0 moved it from its old Wednesday 00:00 UTC slot. During Anniversary events it rotates daily instead.

What perks are in the Shrine of Secrets this week? For Week 34 of 2026: Aftercare, Better Than New, Friends 'Til the End and Wandering Eye. That rotation expires on Tuesday 22 September 2026 at 15:00 UTC.

How much do Shrine perks cost? 2,000 Iridescent Shards for Tier I, 4,000 for Tier II and 6,000 for Tier III. Prestiging the owning character lowers those prices, and buying a perk you already have at Tier III grants 100,000 Bloodpoints instead.

Can I buy Shrine perks with Bloodpoints? No. The Shrine only accepts Iridescent Shards. Bloodpoints are spent in the Bloodweb, and the two currencies are not interchangeable.

Does the Shrine of Secrets show different perks on different platforms? No. The Shrine is identical across all platforms and regions. If a friend sees something different, one of you needs to restart the game to pull the current rotation.

Where is the Shrine of Secrets in the menu? In the Character Lobbies, since Patch 7.7.0 moved it out of the In-Game Store.

Can the same perk appear two weeks running? No. A featured perk is excluded from at least the next three Shrines. This has broken once, with Enduring in Weeks 44 and 45 of 2020.

Is Better Than New worth buying before Patch 10.2.0? On the PTB it goes from 12/14/16% to 40/45/50%, so buying it at the Tier I price of 2,000 Shards this week is strong value. PTB numbers are not final and can change before the patch ships.
