Behaviour published a new set of official Dead by Daylight stats on 18 October 2026, for DbD Day in Japan ("Dedoba no Hi"). The full write-up is only in Japanese, on BHVR's own support site, and was announced by the official @DbDBHVR_JP account. This page is the English version: every ranking, every percentage, the data windows, and what changed since last year's set.
Every chart compares two groups: players in Japan, and players outside Japan. The outside-Japan column covers almost everyone reading this, so we lead with it. All figures are BHVR's. We added the English names, the comparison with the 2025 release and the notes on which perks have changed since. The game is on Patch 10.2.1 as of 18 October 2026.
Quick answer. The Nightmare had the highest kill rate both in Japan and outside it, between 17 June and 24 August 2026. Outside Japan, the top 5 after him were The Onryō, The Lich, The Slasher and The Dredge. The average kill rate outside Japan was 59.7% over the year to 31 July 2026, just under BHVR's 60% target. Outside Japan, The Animatronic was the most played Killer (5.2%), Sable Ward the most played Survivor (7.6%), and Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance and Windows of Opportunity were the most used perks.
Key numbers at a glance (outside Japan):
- 59.7% average kill rate across all Killers, down from 63% in BHVR's 2025 release
- 40.0% average escape rate, roughly the same for solo players (40.1%) and four-stacks (41.8%)
- 5.2% pick rate for The Animatronic, the most played of the 43 Killers in the game at the time
- 10.9% of hooks (averaged per trial) were on the same Survivor as the previous hook, a new stat BHVR frames as tunnelling in the narrow sense
- 9 min 7 s average time to finish the fifth Generator, in trials where it was finished at all
What are the DBD kill rates in 2026?
BHVR ranked the top 10 Killers by kill rate but published no per-Killer percentages for this chart, only the order. The window is 17 June to 24 August 2026. That's the period between The Slasher's release on Patch 10.0.0 (16 June) and the Chorus of Sin chapter, Patch 10.1.0 (25 August). The data covers standard modes only and excludes players BHVR's internal rating puts at beginner level.
| Rank | Outside Japan | Japan |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | The Nightmare | The Nightmare |
| 2 | The Onryō | The Slasher |
| 3 | The Lich | The Cenobite |
| 4 | The Slasher | The Twins |
| 5 | The Dredge | The Lich |
| 6 | The Twins | The Dredge |
| 7 | The Cenobite | The Unknown |
| 8 | The Pig | The Onryō |
| 9 | The Dark Lord | The Dark Lord |
| 10 | The Artist | The First |
BHVR's write-up says the top spot was close: The Nightmare won "by a narrow margin" in both regions. In Japan, The Slasher finished about 0.1 percentage points behind him. Eight Killers appear on both lists. Only The Unknown and The First made Japan's top 10 without making the outside-Japan list, and The Pig and The Artist did the reverse.
Two things stand out if you compare this with BHVR's previous releases:
- The Lich no longer tops the list. He was No. 1 in both regions in the DbD Day 2025 set (window 15 August to 15 September 2025), and The Lich also led broad-MMR kill rates at 65.5% in BHVR's English "First Look at Stats in 2026" (1 September 2025 to 28 February 2026). He's still top 5 in both regions, but The Nightmare has overtaken him.
- The Krasue is out of the top 10. The same March 2026 release had her at 67.1% in high MMR, the highest of any Killer. She doesn't appear in either top 10 in this window. Her power hasn't been touched since Patch 9.2.2 in October 2025, so a nerf doesn't explain the drop. The two releases measure different groups, though: March reported high-MMR and broad-MMR figures separately, while this one covers everyone above beginner level. Our Krasue guide has her live values.
The Slasher needs a caveat. BHVR's English "Global Stats" post from 29 July 2026, which broke the numbers down by region on Steam warned that its numbers "only take into account the first two weeks of The Slasher being available, while players were still figuring out counterplay". This window runs for ten weeks from his release, so it's a fuller sample, and he still finished top 4 in both regions. Our Slasher guide covers his power and counterplay.
What is the average kill rate in DBD?
The average kill rate across all Killers was 59.7% outside Japan and 53.1% in Japan, for 1 August 2025 to 31 July 2026. In its 2025 release, BHVR defines the kill rate as the share of the four Survivors killed by any means, so one death is 25% and four deaths is 100%.
BHVR's comment on the number is the most useful part of the article. Our translation: "As we've said before, we aim for an average kill rate of around 60%, and we recognise that neither Japan nor the rest of the world reached it during this period." BHVR adds that it will keep monitoring feedback and match data and adjust where needed. It also noted that every one of the 43 Killers had a higher kill rate outside Japan than in Japan.
| Stat (1 Aug 2025 to 31 Jul 2026) | Outside Japan | Japan |
|---|---|---|
| Average Killer kill rate | 59.7% | 53.1% |
| Trials where the 5th Generator was finished | 52.5% | 60.1% |
| Average time to finish the 5th Generator | 9 min 7 s | 9 min 12 s |
| Hooks on a different Survivor than the last hook | 89.2% | 86.6% |
| Hooks on the same Survivor twice in a row | 10.9% | 13.4% |
The completion-rate figure excludes trials where the Killer closed the hatch and the Exit Gates were then powered. The timing figure only counts trials where the fifth Generator was actually completed.
The hook figures are new this year. BHVR counts a hook as "spread" when the hooked Survivor isn't the one hooked immediately before. That makes the 10.9% a narrow definition of tunnelling: it counts back-to-back hooks on the same player, not every case of chasing a Survivor right after the unhook. It's still the first number BHVR has published on it. If you want the bigger picture on how matchmaking groups these players, our DBD MMR explainer collects every number Behaviour has released.
How do the 2026 stats compare with 2025?
BHVR ran the same Japan comparison for DbD Day 2025 on its forums. The 2025 set rounded most numbers to whole percentages and labelled its comparison column "World" rather than "outside Japan", so treat the comparison as approximate.
| Stat | DbD Day 2025 (World) | DbD Day 2026 (outside Japan) |
|---|---|---|
| Average kill rate | 63% | 59.7% |
| 5th Generator finished | 49% | 52.5% |
| Time to 5th Generator | 8 min 9 s | 9 min 7 s |
| Solo Survivor escape rate | 38% | 40.1% |
| Four-stack escape rate | 40% | 41.8% |
| Most played Killer | The Huntress (6%) | The Animatronic (5.2%) |
| Highest kill rate | The Lich | The Nightmare |
Survivors are escaping slightly more often, and the fifth Generator gets finished more often, but it takes almost a minute longer to get there. The pick-rate windows don't line up exactly: 2025 covered September 2024 to August 2025, and 2026 covers August 2025 to July 2026.
Who is the most played Killer in DBD?
Outside Japan, it was The Animatronic at 5.2%, from 1 August 2025 to 31 July 2026. In Japan, it was The Wraith at 5.9%. BHVR pointed out that neither appears in the other region's top 10 at all.
| Rank | Outside Japan | Pick rate | Japan | Pick rate |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | The Animatronic | 5.2% | The Wraith | 5.9% |
| 2 | The Huntress | 5.0% | The Huntress | 5.3% |
| 3 | The Ghoul | 4.4% | The Ghoul | 5.2% |
| 4 | The Mastermind | 4.3% | The Nurse | 4.8% |
| 5 | The Shape | 4.2% | The Trapper | 4.2% |
| 6 | The Legion | n/a | The Legion | n/a |
| 7 | The Ghost Face | n/a | The Shape | n/a |
| 8 | The Slasher | n/a | The Blight | n/a |
| 9 | The Spirit | n/a | The Slasher | n/a |
| 10 | The Blight | n/a | The Mastermind | n/a |
BHVR only published percentages for the top 5. The split it highlights: four of Japan's top 5 are Killers that come with the base game, The Ghoul being the exception. Outside Japan, four of the top 5 are licensed Killers, with The Huntress the only original. The pick rates look low because there are so many Killers. No Killer reached 6% outside Japan.
Pick rate isn't strength. The Animatronic and The Huntress are popular, not top 10 for kills, while The Nightmare doesn't make either pick-rate top 10. Our Killer tier list ranks all 44 Killers on Patch 10.2.1, including The Judgment, who released after this window closed.
Who is the most played Survivor in DBD?
Sable Ward at 7.6% outside Japan, and Feng Min at 7.9% in Japan. Japan's top 3 (Feng Min, Claudette Morel, Sable Ward) are in the same order as last year, though BHVR says the gap to fourth place has narrowed. Outside Japan, Lara Croft has replaced Nea Karlsson at No. 5.
| Rank | Outside Japan | Pick rate | Japan | Pick rate |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Sable Ward | 7.6% | Feng Min | 7.9% |
| 2 | Feng Min | 6.3% | Claudette Morel | 7.2% |
| 3 | Meg Thomas | 5.9% | Sable Ward | 6.9% |
| 4 | Kate Denson | 5.3% | Nea Karlsson | 6.0% |
| 5 | Lara Croft | 5.2% | Meg Thomas | 5.7% |
| 6 | Dwight Fairfield | n/a | Kate Denson | n/a |
| 7 | Claudette Morel | n/a | Dwight Fairfield | n/a |
| 8 | Nea Karlsson | n/a | Mikaela Reid | n/a |
| 9 | Leon S. Kennedy | n/a | Cheryl Mason | n/a |
| 10 | Ada Wong | n/a | Ada Wong | n/a |
What are the most used Killer perks?
Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance was No. 1 in both regions. BHVR's chart shows the top 5 as perk icons without names, so we matched each icon against the perk's official icon. The order is consistent with BHVR's own description of the list.
| Rank | Outside Japan | Japan |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance | Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance |
| 2 | Nowhere to Hide | Nowhere to Hide |
| 3 | Pop Goes the Weasel | Hex: Ruin |
| 4 | Lethal Pursuer | Dead Man's Switch |
| 5 | Barbecue and Chilli | Pop Goes the Weasel |
| 6 | Dead Man's Switch | Lethal Pursuer |
| 7 | Bamboozle | Sloppy Butcher |
| 8 | Deadlock (No Holds Barred) | Eruption |
| 9 | Corrupt Intervention | Surge |
| 10 | Lightborn | Corrupt Intervention |
BHVR's reading: players in Japan lean hard on slowdown. Counting perks that block Generators, 7 of Japan's top 10 are slowdown perks, against 5 outside Japan, where Barbecue and Chilli, Bamboozle and Lightborn also make the list. Six perks appear on both lists.
One of these has already changed. Dead Man's Switch was reworked in Patch 10.2.0 on 6 October: the live patch notes now give a 2-second grace period before the block, a 30/35/40-second block and a 30/35/40-second cooldown. The rest of the top 10 wasn't touched by 10.2.0. Our Killer perk tier list uses the live values.
What are the most used Survivor perks?
Windows of Opportunity outside Japan, Self-Care in Japan. As with the Killer chart, the top 5 are icons only, and the names below come from matching them to the official icons.
| Rank | Outside Japan | Japan |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Windows of Opportunity | Self-Care |
| 2 | Lithe | Windows of Opportunity |
| 3 | Déjà Vu | Bond |
| 4 | Resilience | Sprint Burst |
| 5 | Sprint Burst | Dead Hard |
| 6 | Dead Hard | Botany Knowledge |
| 7 | Finesse | Déjà Vu |
| 8 | Decisive Strike (Will to Live) | Lithe |
| 9 | Adrenaline | Decisive Strike |
| 10 | Iron Will | Resilience |
Self-Care, Botany Knowledge and Bond aren't in the outside-Japan top 10. BHVR's summary is that Japan plays for self-healing, while Resilience, Finesse and Adrenaline are far more popular outside Japan.
This chart has already changed more than the Killer one. The year's most used perk outside Japan, Windows of Opportunity, was reworked in 10.2.0. It now shows only Windows within 24 m, lets you vault them 10% faster, and has a 40/35/30-second cooldown after a vault. The Pallet auras moved to Dark Sense. BHVR's dev note: "Learning maps and pallet spawns is core to improving at Dead by Daylight, so we want this to be available to anyone joining us in the Fog with a general perk!" Resilience was also buffed: every action it speeds up while you're injured, from repairing and healing to vaulting and opening gates, went from 3/6/9% to 7/8/9%. Our Survivor perk tier list ranks them on the live values.
Do solo queue players escape less than SWF?
Barely. Outside Japan, solo players escaped 40.1% of the time and full four-stacks 41.8%, a gap of under 2 points. In Japan, solo players actually escaped slightly more often than duos and trios.
| Party size | Outside Japan: share | Outside Japan: escape | Japan: share | Japan: escape |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Solo | 40.1% | 40.1% | 53.6% | 47.2% |
| Duo | 32.7% | 39.4% | 24.4% | 46.7% |
| Trio | 16% | 39.5% | 12.1% | 46.4% |
| Four-stack | 11.3% | 41.8% | 9.9% | 47.4% |
| All Survivors | n/a | 40.0% | n/a | 47.0% |
This matches what BHVR found in 2025, when the world column ran from 37% to 40%. It's the strongest official answer yet to the idea that SWF groups escape far more often. If they do have an edge, it's small in public matches.
Solo play is the majority in Japan (53.6%) and the largest single group outside it (40.1%). BHVR connected this to the Survivor Intent System added in 10.2.0, saying it hopes better communication with players outside your party means fewer standoffs where two teammates wait on each other while someone is in trouble. Our guide to the Survivor Intent System covers how it works.
FAQ
What is the highest kill rate Killer in DBD right now? The Nightmare, in BHVR's latest release: No. 1 both in Japan and outside it, for 17 June to 24 August 2026. BHVR didn't give his percentage, only the rank, and the data predates Patches 10.1.0 and 10.2.0.
What is the average kill rate in Dead by Daylight? 59.7% outside Japan and 53.1% in Japan, for 1 August 2025 to 31 July 2026. BHVR says it aims for about 60%.
Who is the most played Killer in DBD? The Animatronic, at 5.2% outside Japan. In Japan, it's The Wraith at 5.9%.
Does BHVR publish kill rates for every Killer? No. This release gives only the top 10 order for kill rates, and percentages for the top 5 picks. Per-Killer kill rates have only ever appeared in occasional official charts.
Where can I check my own DBD stats? On BHVR's Official Stats Tracker at stats.deadbydaylight.com, after you link a Behaviour account. It shows your own match history and character stats, not global kill rates and not your MMR.
When does BHVR release new stats? On no fixed schedule. 2026 has had stats posts in March (a first look at 2026), April (The Trickster), May (the Blood Moon event), June (10 years in the Fog), July (global stats by region) and now October for DbD Day. We'll update this page when the next one comes out.
