FC 27 Ultimate Gauntlet 1 is the first Gauntlet event of the year in EA SPORTS FC 27, the standout objective set of the week because it hands out a free 84-rated Destined for Glory striker. It is also the set most likely to waste your evening, because what ends most runs is not the opponent — it is a squad rule buried in the event description.

Published: 3 October 2026. Current phase: post-launch, Season 1, Destined for Glory Team 2 window. Ultimate Gauntlet 1 went live on 2 October 2026 and expires on 9 October 2026 — a seven-day window that is already one day gone.

Quick answer: Ultimate Gauntlet 1 has 10 challenges and you only need 8 to bank the group reward — an untradeable 84 OVR Destined for Glory Gonçalo Ramos (ST, Milano FC), 100 SP and a cosmetic Evolution item. Clearing all ten pays out 46 guaranteed Player Items worth roughly 10,410 Item Score, plus a free Backline Conductor Evolution. Every reward is untradeable, so the haul is fodder and squad depth, not coins. The rule that ends runs: it is a 2-round Gauntlet, each round needs a unique squad, and any Player Item you field — starting XI or bench — is locked out of later rounds.

What is FC 27 Ultimate Gauntlet 1?

Ultimate Gauntlet 1 is a limited-time Live Event inside Ultimate Team that pairs a knockout-style match format with a 10-task objective set. It released on 2 October 2026 and runs until 9 October 2026, landing directly on top of the Destined for Glory Team 2 window that opened the same week.

The event's own in-game description is the clearest statement of the format. As listed on the FUT.GG live event page, it reads:

"Prove your Club's depth and earn rewards in this 2-round Gauntlet. Each round requires a unique squad, and once a round is complete the Player Items you used, including both starting 11 and bench, cannot be used again in later rounds."

Two things in that sentence do the damage. "Club's depth" is literal — this is a depth check, not a skill check. And "including both starting 11 and bench" is the clause most players skim past. FUT.GG and FUTBIN both list the group requirement as "Complete 8 of 10 challenges in the Ultimate Gauntlet 1 and earn exclusive rewards! All rewards are untradable."

What is the squad rule that ends Ultimate Gauntlet runs?

A Gauntlet entry is two rounds. Round one needs a squad. Round two needs a different squad — and "different" counts all 18 slots, not just the eleven on the pitch. A single complete entry therefore burns up to 36 distinct Player Items. If you have 25 usable players and a thin bench, you cannot start round two, and the entry is over before a ball is kicked.

Three practical consequences:

  • Bench padding is not free. Dropping your best five squad players onto the round-one bench "just in case" removes them from round two. Fill round-one benches with players you have already written off.
  • Anything in a squad slot counts. Loan and Evolution players are Player Items too, and they are consumed for that entry.
  • Duplicates are your friend. Untradeable spares you would normally quick-sell are exactly the inventory this event rewards you for keeping. Check eligibility before you commit a card anywhere this week — the same discipline we set out in the FC 27 "player not eligible" evolution traps guide.

The challenge counters, meanwhile, accumulate across the full week of Ultimate Gauntlet 1 play rather than within one entry — the top task asks you to score in 14 separate matches, which is far more than the four matches a single two-round entry contains. Budget for multiple entries across the seven days, each one requiring two fresh squads.

What are all 10 FC 27 Ultimate Gauntlet 1 challenges and rewards?

Here is the full set, cross-checked between the FUT.GG live event listing and Destructoid's Ultimate Gauntlet 1 breakdown:

#ChallengeReward

2Score at least 1 goal in 10 separate matches7x 80+ Gold Players Pack

6Win 5 matches in the Ultimate Gauntlet 17x 77+ Gold Players Pack

Complete any 8 of those 10 and the group reward unlocks: the untradeable Destined for Glory Gonçalo Ramos, 100 SP and a cosmetic Evolution item. Trackers also list 200 SP across the full set and a Destined for Glory Premium Badge at the group tier — treat those two line items as the least-confirmed numbers here, since EA does not publish the objective table.

The cheapest route to Ramos: skip challenges 1 and 3. Scoring in 14 separate matches and winning three perfect rounds are the two hardest tasks on the board, and dropping both still leaves exactly eight completions. You lose 7x 80+ and 3x 84+ packs, but you keep the card and roughly halve the match volume.

What is the Ultimate Gauntlet 1 reward haul actually worth?

Every reward is untradeable, which kills the usual "x coins of packs" framing because you cannot sell any of it. The honest currency for untradeable fodder is Item Score — the value Player Items carry for SBC and Evolution purposes. Using the FC 27 Item Score values the community has mapped for this cycle (EA publishes none), the guaranteed floor of all ten tasks looks like this:

RewardItemsItem Score eachTotal
80+ packs (challenges 1 and 2)141802,520
84+ pack (challenge 3)38302,490
82+ pack (challenge 4)53401,700
81+ pack (challenge 5)72801,960
77+ pack (challenge 6)7120840
75+ pack (challenge 7)790630
75+ pack (challenge 10)390270
Total46—10,410

That is the floor, not the expectation — an 84+ pack can deliver an 88.

To convert it: the most coin-efficient fodder on the FC 27 market is the 84-rated card, which in our 26 September 2026 snapshot cost roughly 0.78 coins per Item Score point — the best rate in the game at the time. Buying 10,410 Item Score outright therefore costs about 8,120 coins, realistically more, since you cannot source 46 items all at the 84's efficiency. On the eight-challenge route the haul drops to 36 items and 6,660 Item Score, roughly 5,200 coins of equivalent fodder.

One caveat: those coin figures are a week old and the market has moved. EA's FUT Developer Launch Update on 1 October 2026 reported that "coin balances are more than 50% higher than at the same point last year" — a liquidity picture that pushes fodder prices up, not down. We covered what that means for buying windows in our piece on FC 27 coin balances running 50% higher. Re-check the live price of an 84 before deciding the Gauntlet is "only" worth 8,000 coins.

Is the Destined for Glory Gonçalo Ramos card worth the grind?

The group reward is an 84 OVR ST, Gonçalo Ramos, Milano FC: 82 PAC / 85 SHO / 70 PAS / 82 DRI / 55 DEF / 83 PHY, listed by FUTBIN as right-footed with 3-star skills and a 4-star weak foot.

Taken flat, that is a solid Season 1 striker and nothing more — comfortable in the mid divisions, underpowered in the top few. What changes the maths is the card type. This is a Destined for Glory item, so it upgrades off the player's real domestic-league output instead of sitting static. EA confirms the four-upgrade structure — +1 Shooting and Passing, a PlayStyle, then two separate +1 OVR steps — while the specific attacker milestones of 3, 6, 10 and 20 combined goals and assists are community-tracked rather than published. Either way the ceiling is base +2, so Ramos tops out at 86 OVR, not the inflated numbers circulating on social.

Two conditions matter. Only domestic league matches count, so Ramos's Serie A output is tracked and cup or European goals are not. And tracking began on 25 September 2026, so he arrives with whatever he has already banked. For the full mechanics, including what happens on a transfer, see our Destined for Glory Team 2 upgrade path guide.

Verdict: as a free untradeable 84 he is a clear yes in the mid divisions, and a bench or Evolution candidate for elite squads. As a potential 86 at no coin cost, he is worth the eight challenges for almost everyone.

How good is the Backline Conductor Evolution reward?

Challenge 9 — score in four separate matches — pays out a Backline Conductor Evolution, one of the better free upgrades in Season 1. It is a three-level, CB-only Evolution: maximum 79 OVR, maximum 80 Pace, maximum 7 PlayStyles, and left-backs and right-backs are not eligible. Across three levels it adds +5 to more than a dozen separate stats plus the Block PlayStyle at Level 2, with headline caps of 80 Defensive Awareness and 81 Slide Tackle, each level gated behind one match with the Evolution player.

The base Evolution is already free in the Evolution Store and repeatable up to two times, so the Gauntlet copy is an extra slot rather than exclusive access. Full entry rules, every level's stat table and the best player candidates are in our Backline Conductor and Frontline Flair Evolutions guide.

How should you build your two Gauntlet squads?

The correct approach is the opposite of how most players build for an event.

  • Count before you queue. Filter your club to usable Gold players and confirm you can field 36 distinct Player Items. If you cannot, the Gauntlet is a shopping trip first.
  • Put your strongest XI in round one. Winning both matches in a round is what challenges 3, 4 and 5 pay for, so there is no advantage to saving your best squad for a round you may never reach.
  • Strip the round-one bench to the bone. Seven throwaway bronzes and silvers cost you nothing in-match and preserve seven real players for round two.
  • Chase goals, not clean sheets. Four of the ten challenges count matches in which you scored. A 2-3 loss where you scored still ticks those counters.
  • Buy cheap depth, not cheap quality. Twenty low-rated Golds cost less than one meta card and are worth more to this specific event.

Point 5 decides whether you finish. Club depth is a coin problem, not a skill problem, and it is the exact bottleneck this event exposes. Players topping up a thin club mid-week usually fund it from Rivals and Champions rewards — our Rivals rewards by division breakdown shows which tiers pay enough to matter.

What are players reporting after day one?

Community reaction on the main Ultimate Team subreddits in the first 24 hours clustered around three points, paraphrased rather than quoted:

  • Mid-division players consider the Ramos card redundant. Several Division 6 to 8 players reported already owning an equal or better striker, shifting the set's appeal toward the fodder.
  • The perfect-round challenge is achievable but inconsistent. One player reported three perfect rounds in four attempts; others described repeatedly dropping a second-leg match with their weaker round-two squad — exactly the failure mode the unique-squad rule creates.
  • A PC-side win glitch did not reproduce elsewhere. A player described opponents leaving before kickoff registering as a win on PC; another said the same behaviour did not occur on PS5. Treat it as unverified.

The second point is the useful signal: the difficulty is in squad two, not squad one.

Frequently Asked Questions

When does FC 27 Ultimate Gauntlet 1 end? Ultimate Gauntlet 1 released on 2 October 2026 and is listed as expiring on 9 October 2026. That gives a seven-day window, and objective progress does not carry into a future Gauntlet event.

How many challenges do you need for the Gonçalo Ramos card? Eight of the ten. The group reward unlocks at 8 completions, so you can skip the two hardest challenges — scoring in 14 separate matches and winning three perfect rounds — and still bank the card.

Are Ultimate Gauntlet 1 rewards tradeable? No. The objective set states that all rewards are untradeable, including the Ramos card and every Gold Players Pack. Nothing can be sold on the Transfer Market, which is why Item Score rather than coin value is the right way to judge the haul.

Why can't I use my best players in round two? The event locks them. Every Player Item you field in a completed round, bench included, becomes unavailable for later rounds in that Gauntlet, so a full two-round entry needs up to 36 distinct players.

How high can the Destined for Glory Gonçalo Ramos go? 86 OVR. Destined for Glory items cap at base +2, reached through domestic-league goal and assist milestones at 3, 6, 10 and 20. Ramos starts at 84, so two OVR upgrades is the ceiling — higher numbers circulating on social media are wrong.

Is the Gauntlet's Backline Conductor Evolution different from the free one? No, it is the same three-level CB Evolution from the Evolution Store. The Gauntlet copy is effectively an extra use, which matters because the Evolution is repeatable up to two times.

What is the whole reward set worth? Clearing all ten challenges yields 46 guaranteed Player Items totalling roughly 10,410 Item Score — about 8,120 coins of market-bought fodder at the best rate available in late September 2026. On the eight-challenge route it is 36 items and about 6,660 Item Score.
