Quick answer (updated 29 October 2026): The Fortnite Music Pass is the Fortnite Festival reward track. It costs 1,200 V-Bucks, or it comes with a Fortnite Crew subscription. The current pass is the Neon Dreams Music Pass headlined by Lil Tecca, and it was meant to end on 31 October. On 29 October 2026 Epic extended it to 21 January 2027. Its post, relayed by FortniteStatusBot on r/FortniteFestival, reads: "We've extended the current Music Pass to January 21. Stay tuned for more music updates." So no new Music Pass arrives with the Treasure Hunters mini-season on 1 November. Lil Tecca's pass will run for about 175 days, longer than any Music Pass before it. If you haven't finished it, you now have roughly 84 more days.
Key takeaways
- Price: 1,200 V-Bucks, or included with Fortnite Crew ($11.99/month). Source: Epic Player Support.
- Current pass: Festival Season 15, the Neon Dreams Music Pass. It started on 30 July 2026 with Lil Tecca as the Icon.
- New end date: 21 January 2027. The original end date was 31 October 2026.
- Next headliner: not announced. Epic's post only says "stay tuned for more music updates."
- Progress: XP from any Fortnite experience counts. You don't have to play Festival to level the pass.
- Crew catch: Crew subscribers can only claim premium Music Pass rewards while their subscription is active.
What is the Fortnite Music Pass?
The Music Pass is one of the four passes Fortnite sells next to each other: the Battle Pass, OG Pass, LEGO Pass and Music Pass. It started out as the Festival Pass in Chapter 5 Season 1 (December 2023) and got its current name with Chapter 2 Remix in November 2024. Epic's support page describes it as a pass that "grants players music-themed cosmetics, jam tracks, and outfits related to featured artists."
Most Festival seasons have a headline artist, called the Icon, whose outfit, instruments and Jam Tracks make up the core of the pass. Not all of them, though: Season 11's Mixtape pass was built around Fortnite-original outfits (Sedona and Jana Pastel) and tracks from several artists. The pass follows Festival's season calendar, which is separate from the Battle Royale calendar. That's why the Music Pass can keep running after a Battle Royale season ends. It's also why this week's extension doesn't affect the Battle Pass at all.
How you level it matters more than most players realise. Epic's support article says: "All passes in Fortnite last for one season and progress simultaneously when you earn XP from playing any experience." XP from Battle Royale, Reload, LEGO Fortnite, Creative maps or Festival all fills the Music Pass, the Battle Pass and the other passes at once. You can finish the Music Pass without ever playing a Festival song.
How much does the Music Pass cost?
| Pass | Price (October 2026) | Included with Crew? |
|---|---|---|
| Music Pass | 1,200 V-Bucks | Yes |
| LEGO Pass | 1,200 V-Bucks | Yes |
| Battle Pass | 800 V-Bucks | Yes |
| OG Pass | 800 V-Bucks | Yes |
Prices from Epic's pass support article, checked 29 October 2026.
The Music Pass started at 1,800 V-Bucks as the Festival Pass. It later dropped to 1,400, then to 1,200 in Epic's March 2026 V-Bucks repricing. Unlike the Battle Pass, it doesn't pay back V-Bucks, so you can't use one season's Music Pass to fund the next.
Fortnite Crew costs $11.99 a month. It includes all four passes, a monthly Crew outfit and 800 V-Bucks (cut from 1,000 on 6 June 2026). There's one catch. Since December 2024, premium Music Pass rewards can only be claimed while your Crew subscription is active, and that rule applies to every subscriber. If your Crew lapses, the premium track locks again until you resubscribe. Your levels aren't lost.
Why was the Music Pass extended to January 21?
Epic posted the news on 29 October, two days before the season was due to end. The official post, relayed by FortniteStatusBot on r/FortniteFestival, reads in full:
"We've extended the current Music Pass to January 21. Stay tuned for more music updates."
Epic didn't give a reason. Here is what's actually known:
- The new date is 21 January 2027. Some players posted in-game timers showing 20 January. That's most likely a time-zone difference, but Epic hasn't published an exact hour.
- It's the biggest extension so far. Earlier passes were moved by a day or two weeks. Season 14's Emberlight pass, for example, went from 15 July to 29 July 2026. This one adds about 82 days.
- It makes Season 15 the longest Music Pass ever. From 30 July 2026 to 21 January 2027 is about 175 days. The previous record was Season 14 at 105 days.
- No Festival Season 16 pass is coming on 1 November. Many players expected a new headliner alongside the Treasure Hunters mini-season. That isn't happening.
The timing is what upset people. Treasure Hunters marketing features several music acts. Epic's own trailer shows A$AP Rocky, Hatsune Miku and Kasane Teto (see our Teto and Miku collab breakdown), and Lil Uzi Vert has been teased for the same window (our Uzi tracker). Players had been guessing which of them would headline the next pass. With the extension, it looks like none of them will lead a Music Pass this year. One of the top replies under Epic's post put it bluntly: "Yall literally are releasing 3 artist next season. Literally couldn't just put 1 in there."
Other players think there's a simpler explanation. Artist deals are separate contracts, and a headliner could have pulled out late. "This sounds like the headliner pulled out at the last second," one reply argued. That's speculation. Epic hasn't said why.
What's in the Neon Dreams Music Pass?
Epic's Season 15 announcement names the main rewards: "the music-reactive Tour Ready Lil Tecca Outfit, the Mic Mace Pickaxe, Tecca's World Back Bling, and the Dopamine Tour-inspired Guitar." The pass is split into four pages. The table below lists the notable rewards on each page, not every spray and banner. You unlock the later pages by claiming rewards or reaching set levels:
| Page | How to unlock | Notable rewards |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Open from the start | Tour Ready Lil Tecca outfit, Tecca's Dopa-mic (microphone), Mic Check emote, Tecca's World back bling, Jam Tracks I walk this earth all by myself and Mister Papi |
| 2 | Claim 5 rewards or earn 20 levels during the pass | Dopamine Drumkit, Rising Star aura, Tecca's Concert loading screen, Jam Track Fancy, Iridescent Dopa-mic |
| 3 | Claim 12 rewards or earn 35 levels during the pass | Mic Mace pickaxe, Tecca's Cage guitar, Liquid Shade aura, Jam Tracks Lonely and My Sound |
| 4 | Claim 20 rewards or earn 45 levels during the pass | Iridescent Dopamine Drumkit and Tecca's Cage, Prismatic Vapor aura, Jam Tracks Doot Doot (6 7) and Drill Dark, Radicali's Heartbolt emoticon |

A few things worth knowing:
- The Item Shop outfit is a different item. Epic sells a separate Lil Tecca outfit with a Ransom Toon style in the shop, along with the Mic Stand, Dopamine Blades pickaxe and Dark Thoughts emote. Those aren't in the pass.
- Jam Tracks aren't only for Festival. You can also set them as lobby music.
- Pass items aren't exclusive forever. The wiki notes that Music Pass items can come back to the Item Shop after the season ends. You can't go back and buy an old Music Pass, though.
Is it still worth buying the Music Pass now?
Yes, if you want the Lil Tecca set. With the extension, you have about 84 days left to level it. That's more than a whole normal Battle Royale season. For most players who log in regularly, that's enough to earn the 45 levels page 4 needs before 21 January, though how fast you level depends on what you play and how much XP you already have.
If you already pay for Crew, there's nothing to decide. The pass is already unlocked. Just keep your subscription active on the day you claim premium rewards.
If you're waiting for the next headliner, hold your V-Bucks. The next Music Pass won't arrive before 21 January 2027, and Epic hasn't said who it will feature. Buying Neon Dreams now doesn't get you anything from the next pass.
Players who switch Crew on and off already shared a plan in the thread. It works because levels carry on even when you're not subscribed: "Your levels will still count so you'll collect all the rewards that same day." That's a player tactic, not Epic advice, but it matches how the active-subscription rule works.
How long has every Fortnite Music Pass lasted?
| Festival season | Pass | Dates | Length |
|---|---|---|---|
| Season 15 | Neon Dreams (Lil Tecca) | 30 Jul 2026 – 21 Jan 2027 (extended) | ~175 days |
| Season 14 | Emberlight (Laufey) | 16 Apr – 29 Jul 2026 | 105 days |
| Season 13 | Heartcore (Chappell Roan) | 5 Feb – 16 Apr 2026 | 70 days |
| Season 12 | Starlux | 29 Nov 2025 – 5 Feb 2026 | 69 days |
| Season 11 | Mixtape | 9 Oct – 29 Nov 2025 | 52 days |
| Season 10 | Season 10 pass | 26 Aug – 9 Oct 2025 | 45 days |
| Season 9 | Season 9 pass | 18 Jun – 26 Aug 2025 | 70 days |
| Season 8 | Season 8 pass | 8 Apr – 18 Jun 2025 | 71 days |
| Season 7 | Season 7 pass | 14 Jan – 8 Apr 2025 | 84 days |
| Season 6 | First "Music Pass" | 2 Nov 2024 – 14 Jan 2025 | 73 days |
| Seasons 1–5 | Festival Pass | 9 Dec 2023 – 2 Nov 2024 | 51–78 days each |
Dates from the Fortnite Wiki Music Pass page; the Season 15 end date is from Epic's 29 October 2026 post.
The typical Music Pass has lasted about 70 days. Season 15 now runs more than twice that. That's why some players read the extension as a sign Festival is winding down. There's no evidence for that. Festival's Main Stage and Jam Stage are still live, and Epic is still releasing Jam Tracks. Keep in mind, though, that Epic removed Festival Battle Stage in April 2026 and has been cutting modes that don't hold enough players.
Who is the next Music Pass artist?
Unknown. Epic hasn't named a Festival Season 16 Icon or a date for the next pass. Its only hint is "stay tuned for more music updates."
Here's what's realistic for the Treasure Hunters window (1 November to early December):
- Music collabs will still happen. A$AP Rocky, Hatsune Miku and Kasane Teto all appear in Epic's Treasure Hunters material. Expect their items in the Item Shop or the Battle Pass, not a new Music Pass.
- New Jam Tracks will probably keep coming through the shop during the extension. Epic adds tracks outside of pass launches.
- A January headliner is the most likely timing. It would line up with the new 21 January end date. Treat any specific artist name before Epic announces it as a guess.
