GTA Online Free Bunker (Sept 17–23, 2026): Claim the GTA$1,750,000 Grapeseed Bunker and Bank a Flat GTA$1,000,000 This Week

The single most expensive mistake new GTA Online players make is buying a bunker at full price. This week you do not have to. From September 17 to September 23, 2026, week three of the Business Rivalries Event hands every player the Grapeseed Bunker — a GTA$1,750,000 property — for nothing, and then pays a flat GTA$1,000,000 on top for three short freeroam missions.

That combination is worth roughly GTA$2,750,000 before you produce a single unit of stock. This guide covers exactly how to claim both, which upgrades are actually worth buying, and what a bunker really earns per hour in 2026 once supply costs and production time are subtracted — not the inflated "sale value" numbers most lists quote.

Quick answer: Open the in-game internet browser, go to Maze Bank Foreclosures, and buy the Grapeseed Bunker — it is priced at GTA$0 until September 23, 2026 (normally GTA$1,750,000). Then call Agent 14 from your phone, request a Bunker Research Mission, and complete three of them to claim the week's GTA$1,000,000 Weekly Challenge bonus plus the Camo Ammu-Nation Sweatsuit. Research missions pay double GTA$, double RP and double research progress all week. After that, a fully upgraded bunker nets about GTA$57,900 per hour of passive production — but the upgrades cost GTA$1,753,500, which is the real barrier. Short on capital? GTA 5 money covers the upgrades on day one.

What is free in GTA Online this week?

September 2026 is the Business Rivalries Event, a month-long rotation through GTA Online's four business empires. Rockstar's own announcement describes it plainly:

"Put your criminal enterprises to work all throughout September during the GTA Online Business Rivalries Event, steering the invisible hand of the free market in your favor with profitable bonuses for Executives, Bikers, Gunrunners, and Nightclub Owners."

— Rockstar Games, official Newswire announcement

Week one belonged to Executives and Special Cargo. Week two was the Bikers and their MC businesses. Week three — September 17 to 23 — is Gunrunning, which means the bunker is the property on the table.

Three things are live right now:

  • The Grapeseed Bunker is free. Normally GTA$1,750,000, the fifth-cheapest of the eleven bunkers on offer.
  • The Weekly Challenge pays GTA$1,000,000. Complete three Bunker Research Missions and the money lands in your Maze Bank account, along with the Camo Ammu-Nation Sweatsuit.
  • Bunker Research Missions pay 2x GTA$, 2x RP and 2x research progress. That last multiplier is the one veterans care about, because bunker research is normally the slowest grind in the game.

There are also 2x payouts on Ammu-Nation Contracts and Safeguard Deliveries, 3x on the Community Mission Series, and 2x on the Stockpile and Trap Door Featured Series. Two longer-tail rewards hang off the month as a whole: completing any one of the event's first three Weekly Challenges — a window that closes on September 23 — unlocks a free Penaud La Coureuse, and logging in between September 24 and 30 grants a free HSW upgrade for it. If you have skipped weeks one and two, this is your last chance at the car.

The general multipliers are thin, and the sensible play is to ignore them and go straight to the Agent 14 missions: three short research jobs are a fast, low-effort GTA$1,000,000 regardless of whether you care about gunrunning at all.

How do you claim the free Grapeseed Bunker?

It takes about ninety seconds:

  • Load into GTA Online (any session type — invite-only works).
  • Open your phone and launch the in-game internet browser.
  • Navigate to Money and Services → Maze Bank Foreclosures.
  • Select the Grapeseed Bunker. The price should read GTA$0.
  • Confirm the purchase. The bunker appears on your map immediately.

A few things that trip people up:

  • You can only own one bunker at a time. If you already own one, buying Grapeseed is a trade-in. Upgrades do not transfer — you re-buy them from scratch — and any stock, supplies and unfinished research are lost. Completed research projects stay unlocked, as does the MOC. If your current bunker is upgraded and better placed, do not touch the free one; take the GTA$1,000,000 challenge and leave it alone.
  • You do not need to own a bunker to start the Weekly Challenge — but you do need one to run Bunker Research Missions, which is exactly why Rockstar made the property free this week.
  • Grapeseed sits in the far northeast, on a dirt road near the McKenzie Field airstrip. It is a genuinely awkward location for sell missions, which we will come back to.

How do you get the GTA$1,000,000 Weekly Challenge bonus?

The challenge is complete three Bunker Research Missions, and it resets with the weekly update on September 24. Here is the loop:

  • Own a bunker (free, see above).
  • Register as a VIP, CEO or MC President — Interaction Menu → your organisation.
  • In freeroam, call Agent 14 from your phone's contact list and choose Request Bunker Research.
  • Complete the mission. Repeat twice more.

Each one is a short freeroam job: drive to the marker, take out the guarded target, grab the research data, shake your wanted level and run it back. At 2x payouts they are worth doing even without the challenge, and with research progress doubled three missions move the bar meaningfully toward the Mk II weapon and weaponised-vehicle unlocks. One caveat: players report the option disappears once every research project is already unlocked.

The GTA$1,000,000 is paid as a lump sum, not per mission. Do not stop at two.

Is a GTA Online bunker actually worth running in 2026?

This is where most guides lie to you. Here is the arithmetic, using the production and sale figures documented in the GTA BOOM Gunrunning guide and cross-checked against community bunker calculators.

A bunker produces one unit of stock at a time, burning supplies as it goes. The numbers that matter:

MetricNo upgradesOne upgradeEquipment + Staff
Production time per unit~10 minutes~8.5 minutes~7 minutes
Sale value per unit (local buyer)GTA$5,000GTA$6,000GTA$7,000
Sale value per unit (Los Santos buyer)GTA$7,500GTA$9,000GTA$10,500
Full 100-unit stock (Los Santos)GTA$750,000GTA$900,000GTA$1,050,000

Here is the part almost nobody tells you: the upgrades also change how fast you burn supplies. A full bar costs GTA$75,000 and holds 100 supply units. Fully upgraded you consume one roughly every 84 seconds, so a bar lasts ~140 minutes and yields 20 units of stock. With no upgrades you burn one every 60 seconds — gone in 100 minutes, 10 units. A full 100-unit stockpile therefore costs GTA$375,000 and five resupplies upgraded, but GTA$750,000 and ten when it is not.

So, fully upgraded and selling to a Los Santos buyer:

  • Revenue: GTA$1,050,000
  • Supply cost: GTA$375,000
  • Net profit: GTA$675,000 per full run
  • Time: 100 units × 7 minutes = 11 hours 40 minutes of production
  • Effective rate: roughly GTA$57,900 per hour

Unupgraded, the same run is a trap. Ten bars of supplies cost GTA$750,000 and 100 units return GTA$750,000 in Los Santos — sixteen and a half hours of production to break exactly even, and a loss on a local buyer. A bare bunker only profits if you steal supplies instead of buying them, which turns a passive business into an active one.

The crucial detail is that those eleven hours are passive. The bunker produces while you run heists or sit in a nightclub, so unlike the best heists in GTA Online it never competes for your time. That is the entire argument for owning one.

If you want a shorter cycle, sell one bar at a time: 20 units takes 2 hours 20 minutes, costs GTA$75,000, and returns GTA$210,000 to a Los Santos buyer — GTA$135,000 profit per sitting.

Which bunker upgrades should you buy first?

There are three, and the first two are really one purchase:

  • Equipment Upgrade — GTA$1,155,000 and Staff Upgrade — GTA$598,500. The two production upgrades only pay off together. Either alone moves you to the middle column above; both installed is what unlocks GTA$7,000 per unit, ~7 minutes each, and the slower supply burn that doubles what a GTA$75,000 bar produces. If you can only afford one, take Staff — half the price, same first-step gain, and it speeds up research, which is what this week's 2x modifier multiplies.
  • Security Upgrade — GTA$351,000. Skip it unless you play in busy public lobbies. It only reduces raid frequency, and raids are rare if you do not idle registered in a hostile session.

Total for the two that matter: GTA$1,753,500 — which, awkwardly, is almost exactly what the free bunker itself is worth. Running costs are GTA$2,000 per in-game day (48 real-world minutes), rising to GTA$4,500 with all upgrades installed, and they are only charged while you are registered as a CEO, VIP or MC President. Deregister when you log off and the meter stops.

How do you sell bunker stock without losing it?

Bunker sell missions scale their vehicle count with stock size, and the timer does not.

  • Sell 25 units or fewer and you get a single-vehicle delivery you can finish alone comfortably.
  • Larger batches spawn more vehicles — two at 26–50 units, three at 51–75, four at 76–100 — which effectively require a crew. There is no payout bonus for bigger lots, so a solo player gains nothing by hoarding.
  • Most sale timers are 15 minutes, with one variant running 30. Since June 2024, solo sellers receive a 50% time extension, which makes single-vehicle runs far more forgiving than they used to be.
  • You can sell in an invite-only session. Rockstar enabled this for bunker and MC sales in July 2022, and it is the correct choice unless you specifically want the High Demand bonus, which adds 2.5% per additional player in the session.
  • The buyer location is randomised. Los Santos deliveries pay 50% more but take the longest — and from Grapeseed, the drive is genuinely long. Budget for it.

If you own the A Safehouse in the Hills mansion, ask your AI assistant for the daily production boost and point it at the bunker before you log off. It roughly triples output for the day — a full 100-unit stockpile in about four hours instead of twelve — though you cannot boost the same business two days running.

What else does owning a bunker unlock?

The profit is only half the case. A bunker is the gateway property for:

  • The Mobile Operations Center (MOC), the weaponised-vehicle workshop and mission hub.
  • Mk II weapon upgrades — explosive rounds, extended magazines, scopes — all gated behind bunker research.
  • Weaponised vehicle upgrades for the Gunrunning fleet.

There are 51 research projects in total. Each can be fast-tracked with cash (up to GTA$225,000 for the most expensive), and clearing every project by fast-tracking alone would run to as much as GTA$11,475,000 — which is exactly why this week's 2x research progress modifier is worth more than it looks on the bonus list.

Where does the bunker sit against your other businesses?

Bluntly: the bunker is a mid-tier earner with top-tier unlocks. At roughly GTA$57,900 per hour of passive production it sits below the best MC businesses ranked by profit per hour and well below an optimised nightclub setup, which accrues goods with almost no input at all.

Run all of them in parallel — bunker producing, nightclub accruing, something active on top. That is why a free bunker matters more than a good one: it strips GTA$1,750,000 out of the cost of a diversified empire, leaving you to fund upgrades instead of the property.

Want the upgrades running before the week ends? The bunker is free — the GTA$1,753,500 of upgrades that make it profitable are not. Skip the twenty-hour capital grind:

FAQ

Is the Grapeseed Bunker really free in GTA Online? Yes. From September 17 to September 23, 2026, the Grapeseed Bunker is listed at GTA$0 on Maze Bank Foreclosures as part of week three of the Business Rivalries Event. It normally costs GTA$1,750,000.

How do I get the GTA$1,000,000 bonus this week? Complete three Bunker Research Missions, requested by calling Agent 14 from your phone while registered as a VIP, CEO or MC President. The GTA$1,000,000 and the Camo Ammu-Nation Sweatsuit are paid once all three are done.

Can I claim the free bunker if I already own one? Yes, but it replaces your current bunker rather than adding a second. Research you have already completed stays unlocked; Equipment, Staff and Security upgrades do not transfer and would need re-buying, and any stock, supplies and in-progress research are lost. If your existing bunker is already upgraded, keep it.

Is the Grapeseed Bunker a good location? It is mediocre. Grapeseed sits in the far northeast near McKenzie Field, with dirt-road access and long drives to Los Santos buyers — and Los Santos deliveries are the ones that pay 50% more. It is still worth GTA$1,750,000 for free.

How much does a fully upgraded bunker make per hour? About GTA$57,900 per hour of passive production: GTA$1,050,000 for a full 100-unit stock sold to a Los Santos buyer, minus GTA$375,000 in supplies, across roughly 11 hours 40 minutes of production time.

Which bunker upgrade should I buy first? The Staff Upgrade, at GTA$598,500 — it is roughly half the price of Equipment and delivers the same first-step gain, plus faster research. Equipment (GTA$1,155,000) second: you need both installed to reach GTA$7,000 per unit and ~7 minutes of production per unit. Security only if you sell in busy public lobbies.

Can I sell bunker stock solo? Yes. Keep batches to 25 units or fewer for a single-vehicle delivery, sell in an invite-only session, and take advantage of the 50% solo time extension added in June 2024.
