Mobile Legends Healing Turtle & Golden Turret: How to Play the New Objectives (Season 42)

Mobile Legends' 2026 Annual Map Change goes live on 28 September 2026 (Server Time), and it does something the game hasn't done in years: it rewrites what you actually fight over. The turtle no longer just hands you a shield — it becomes a Healing Turtle that pushes a lane for you. Turrets become Golden Turrets worth a team-wide gold swing. And Revealing Wisps turn the map into a vision minefield. If you climb ranked by farming safely and hoping fights break your way, this patch punishes that. If you play the map, it rewards you harder than the old map ever did.

This is a how-to-play guide, not a patch-notes recap: what each new objective does, when to contest it, and how your role's job changes on the new battlefield. It applies to Patch 2.2.16 / ranked Season 42 "Starward Decade," with the objective effects arriving on the 28 September annual-map date — separate from the Season 42 visual launch on 16 September.

Key takeaways

  • The Healing Turtle replaces the old turtle buff. Slaying it no longer just shields your team — it spawns a Turtle Assist that pushes the enemy's strongest lane and heals nearby allies while sharing gold with the team. It's an offensive tempo tool, not a defensive band-aid.
  • Golden Turrets have more HP but pay out more gold when destroyed — so taking a tower is now a bigger economy swing, and losing one hurts more.
  • Revealing Wisps periodically expose nearby enemies, so map control and vision matter more than ever; you can't rotate for a gank as invisibly as before.
  • Flying Cloud got an upgraded visual effect only — no gameplay change.
  • Exact numbers (heal amounts, HP and gold multipliers, wisp timers) are not published. Anyone quoting precise figures before you can read them in-game is guessing. Play the mechanics, not the math.

When do the new objectives go live?

The objective effects begin on 28 September 2026 (Server Time) with the 2026 Annual Map Change. This is the trap most players fall into: the Season 42 map looked different from 16 September, when the anniversary visual overhaul and the reworked Sanctum Island art landed alongside patch 2.2.16. But the battlefield effects — Healing Turtle, Golden Turret, Revealing Wisps — are a separate rollout on 28 September.

The in-game 2.2.16 note states it plainly:

"The 2026 Annual Map Change officially begins on 09/28 (Server Time). This update introduces [Revealing Wisps], [Healing Turtle], and [Golden Turret], along with [Flying Cloud], which now features an upgraded art visual effect."

So if you log in before 28 September and the turtle still just gives you a shield, nothing is broken — the effects simply haven't switched on yet. (Source: in-game Patch 2.2.16 notes, mirrored on Liquipedia and mlbbhub, verified 22 September 2026.)

The Healing Turtle and Turtle Assist, explained

The old turtle was a defensive objective: kill it, get a shield and some gold, move on. The Healing Turtle flips that into an offensive tempo tool. When your team slays it, you get a Turtle Assist that does three things at once:

  • Pushes the enemy's strongest lane — not a random lane, the one the enemy is winning. That's the important detail: the objective is designed to neutralise the enemy's lead, forcing their strongest laner to peel back and defend instead of snowballing.
  • Heals nearby allies, so contesting and winning the turtle sustains your team through the fight that usually follows it.
  • Shares gold with the whole team, keeping your economy in step even if your carry didn't land the last hit.

How this changes your turtle calls

  • Contest it even when you're ahead. Under the old map, a losing team could sometimes ignore the turtle. Now the winning team wants the Turtle Assist to shove the enemy's carry off the map, and the losing team wants it to deny that. Either way, both teams have a reason to be at the pit.
  • Set up vision first. With Revealing Wisps on the map (below), sneaking the turtle is harder. Ward and clear vision before you tap it, or the enemy collapses on you mid-cast.
  • Your tank/roam leads the call, your marksman finishes it. The heal-and-push payoff rewards grouping as five, so the roamer's job is to force the timing and the marksman's is to secure the kill without overextending into a Revealing Wisp.

Golden Turrets: towers are now an economy objective

Under the annual map change, turrets become Golden Turretsmore HP to chew through, but a bigger gold reward when you destroy one. That sounds minor. It isn't, for two reasons:

  • Sieging is a real macro decision now. A Golden Turret that takes longer to kill means committing more time and more bodies to a push. If the enemy has a Turtle Assist coming, a slow siege can get you collapsed on. Time your tower dives to your objective spawns, not just to a lull.
  • Losing a tower hurts more. Because the gold payout is bigger, every tower you give up funds the enemy harder than before. Defending tier-one towers — especially on your losing lane — is worth more than it used to be. This pairs directly with the Healing Turtle: the enemy's Turtle Assist will target your strongest lane, so your weakest lane's tower is the one most likely to fall on tempo.

Practical rule: don't trade towers evenly. On the new map, a clean Golden Turret plus the Turtle Assist can open a two-item lead in a single mid-game window.

Revealing Wisps: the map has eyes now

Revealing Wisps spawn across the battlefield and periodically expose nearby enemies. In plain terms: your old rotations through the river and jungle are no longer invisible. A gank that relied on the enemy not seeing you cross the map is riskier, because a wisp can light you up at the wrong moment.

What that means at each stage:

  • Assassins and gankers have to respect wisp positions. Your Lancelot or Ling can't just fog-walk to a kill; plan the route around wisp locations and cleared vision.
  • Marksmen and mages get a safety upgrade — the wisps that expose the enemy jungler help you avoid the flank that used to delete you from the side lane.
  • Roamers should treat wisps like free wards. Contest the areas near them before a turtle or Golden Turret play, because whoever controls the wisp controls the information.

Because the map rewards vision so heavily now, support and tank picks that bring their own vision or crowd control go up in value, and blind flanking comps go down. If you queue solo, calling "back off, we're revealed" and pinging the wisp is now a genuine macro skill.

How the new objectives change each role

RoleOld-map jobNew-map job (from 28 Sep)
Tank / RoamWard, initiate, peelCall turtle timings, contest wisps, force Turtle Assist onto the enemy's strong lane
JunglerFarm, secure turtleSecure Healing Turtle with vision set, punish Golden Turret sieges
MarksmanFarm, take towers lateFinish objectives from safety, exploit the bigger Golden Turret gold to spike
Mage / MidRotate, pokeZone the turtle pit, use wisp reveals to line up ults
Fighter / EXPSplit-push, duelAnswer the Turtle Assist push; hold your Golden Turret to deny the enemy's gold swing

The through-line: grouped, objective-focused play beats greedy split-farming on this map more than it did before. If you're a solo climber, the single biggest habit change is to stop treating the turtle as optional and start treating every turtle and every Golden Turret as a scored point in a game of tempo.

A note on numbers and sources

Moonton has published the mechanics of the new objectives but not the tuning — no confirmed heal values, HP multipliers, gold amounts or wisp cadence as of this writing. This guide deliberately describes what each objective does and how to play it, and avoids inventing figures. Once the 28 September update is live you'll be able to read the exact values in the in-game patch notes; treat any precise number circulating before then as unofficial. Facts here are verified against the in-game 2.2.16 notes (mirrored on Liquipedia and mlbbhub) and cross-checked against multiple outlets, as of 22 September 2026 for a patch that applies to Season 42.

FAQ

When does the Mobile Legends 2026 Annual Map Change go live? The objective effects — Healing Turtle, Golden Turret and Revealing Wisps — begin on 28 September 2026 (Server Time). This is separate from the Season 42 launch on 16 September, which brought the anniversary visual overhaul and patch 2.2.16.

Does the Healing Turtle replace the old turtle? Yes. Instead of granting a shield, slaying it now spawns a Turtle Assist that pushes the enemy's strongest lane, heals nearby allies and shares gold with your team. It's an offensive tempo tool rather than a defensive buff.

What is a Golden Turret in Mobile Legends? A turret with more HP that gives a bigger gold reward to your team when destroyed. Taking towers becomes a larger economy swing, and losing one costs you more than before.

What do Revealing Wisps do? They spawn across the map and periodically expose nearby enemies, making stealthy rotations and ganks riskier and raising the value of vision, map control and crowd-control picks.

Did my map change but the objectives feel the same? That's expected before 28 September. The Season 42 visual map went live on 16 September; the battlefield effects switch on with the annual map change on 28 September.

What are the exact heal and gold numbers? They aren't officially published yet. Describe and play the mechanics; read the confirmed values in the in-game patch notes once the 28 September update is live, and be wary of precise figures circulating before then.

Climb Season 42 on the new map

The new objectives reward players who group, control vision and snowball a lead through tempo — which is exactly the kind of coordinated play that's hard to pull off in solo queue. If you'd rather skip the grind on the fresh map, timesaver.gg has you covered:
